Continuously restarting ipod

After downloading the new version of itunes, i clicked the eject button to eject my ipod, and my ipod came off of the list in the library and i disconnected it. Then it was frozen with the words do not disconnect on it. Then i tried restarting it and it took forever to restart and no all it does is keep constantly restarting. What do i do?

Let it run out of battery and then plug it into your computer again.

  • Continually restarting iPod

I uploaded the firmware on the ipod, and I guess there was an error, because it restarts to the apple logo, the light turns on, then it shuts off and does it all again. this makes it impossable to restore the firmware, because it will not connect to the computer.
    Help would be appreciated,

  • Ipod continually restarts

I have had my 8gb nano 3g for about a month when it suddenly entered a cycle of continually restarting itself. I managed to put it in disc mode and reset it to factory settings, but as soon as I loaded more than 2.5 gb of music, and ejected it, it went into the same cycle. I've tried various things, such as reinstalling itunes, updating my port drivers, connecting to different ports, resetting the ipod more than a dozen times...It works okay if I keep between 1-2 gb on there, but I didn't buy a 2 gb nano. It seems like this must be a mounting problem, because it usually happens after eject, or right when I connect it to the computer again after an autosync. Any suggestions?

The new ipod software update 1.0.3 fixed the problem. All better now.

  • Continuosly restarting ipod classic

I'm on my second 160GB iPod classic - the first went back with exactly the same issue.
I loaded about 90GB of music on this second one and about 20GB of video. It worked fine yesterday - i was able to play a random set of playlists and the video without any issues. This was synched without album art - which i thought may have been the first one's problem.
    I selectively synch using playlists.
Last night I topped it up with another 10GB or so of video and more music, taking it up to just 7GB showing as free when the synch had finished.
Having disconnected it normally, the main menu came back ok. Clicking on music though caused it to freeze. I reset it through menu-select - and now its continuously restarting. It doesn't get as far as the main meniu being on display, just the Apple logo.
This is the same issue I had with the first one.
I can't find any way to reset it. And the diagnostic mode isn't accessible either.
Any ideas? Is there a way of hard resetting it? note that it doesn't show up in itunes - given its continuously restarting.

I am experiencing this problem as well. I'm getting pretty sick of my iPod. I've already had to reload all my music onto it twice because it's all been mysteriously erased. For $300 for an 80gb Classic you'd think they could make a product that actually works. If this cannot be fixed and Apple does not make this up to me they have lost yet another customer as a result of their shoddy products.
Currently my 80gb is cycling through the reset process, never getting past the Apple logo. Cannot access disk mode, diagnostic mode or anything. It loads the apple screen, then the screen goes black and i hear it make a clicking noise. It does not respond if i plug it into a computer. This happened after I docked it with a new Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere speaker dock. What can be done about this? Do I need to return it to where I bought it? Should I try to return it to Apple? I hope someone from Apple notices this discussion.

  • Continuously Restarts, Will Not Charge?

I've had my black iPod 5G/video since this past Christmas. I used it occasionally but come the end of May I had to put it away because I was packing up to move to a new apartment. I finally have some spare time to do some updating and I am going to start going to the gym with it.
    Here's the problem:
The iPod is continuously restarting itself and is making a scratching noise. It'll show the Apple icon and then the little iPod with X'd eyes and such with the support website URL. I started the R list but my computer/iTunes would not recognize it. Just now it says "do not disconnect" and my computer recognizes it. Every once and awhile it sounds like it restarts or gives up but the screen has the animated red circle on it.
I'm kind of new to this, but is my iPod charging? Is the scratching noise hard on the disk? If it is charging, should I go ahead and restore because it's been packed up for awhile?

Are you connecting it to a direct USB port on the iMac, not a USB hub or the spare port on the keyboard?
Try shutting down (powering off) the iMac and disconnecting all USB devices (you can leave standard keyboard/mouse connected).  Start up the iMac and connect the iPod to a direct USB port by itself.

  • Update 1.02- Now continuous restart loop- New Classic 80Gb

Went to synch 2-week old 80Gb classic. Prompted for update, waited until after synch. Then clicked update. Came back later and iPod stuck in a continuous restart loop. Reset/Restart does not work, computer doesn't see it untils it boots...hosed.
    Any ideas...?

This was finally resolved, so I thought best to post the results.
    *Call #1 to Apple:*
Poor English speaking tech, very hard to even get the address right, and very little product knowledge resulted in returning it to Apple. Within 2 days prepaid box arrived and I shipped back. Within a week, the reply that nothing wrong, or may have been corrected via diagnostic testing- software update, etc.. Worth noting no charge.
Received it back, turned on and woohoo...the menu. Plugged into and opened iTunes. First thing I noticed..FORMATTED WINDOWS (FAT32), even though it left me, and I told Apple I was a Mac user. OK- who cares, as long as it works. Did a full synch, the iPod restarted and right back into the loop of restarts again.
    Call #2 to Apple:
This time an English speaking, knowledgeable tech who, for the first time, had me put the iPod into disk mode (center/menu until logo, then center/play until disk mode) and for the first time the iPod was seen by iTunes.
He walked me through the restore, menu came up and began synching. All looked good so I let him go at 40Gb of stuff takes some time. BUT as synch completed, iPod restarted and was stuck in the loop again.
    Call #3 to Apple:
This call started bad, tech not really understanding history of things so far, new case ID, and had me doing things already done. However, eventually a product specialist and the tech support call we all dream of. Methodical and full knowledge of the iPod. First thing, clear out old iPod software update files to force new download. Then log in to another user (we all have one right?), and going through the restore in the fresh iTunes. Brought some tunes in from CD, synched and finally a working iPod. OK, now back to the other user.
    1. Trashed iTunes library file in my user, and moved the iTune Music Library.xml to the desktop.
    2. iPod to disk mode, opened iTunes, cancelled erase and synch, did restore, and manually put some tunes on it. All good.
    3. Went through adding tunes and checking, all good.
    4. Final was Import the previous iTunes Music Library on the desktop, and synch only a few items. All good.
    5. Synch some more, couple hundred, and all good.
    6. Final synch all music and let it go. All good.
    7. And finally, add photos, TV shows, movies, contacts, calendars, etc. and all flawless.....
So...appears the end result was either a corrupt iTunes Library file or iTunes Music Library.xml file. Note that other iPods (2 shuffles, and a 3G 20Gb) continued to synch without issues, only the new classic suffered from the corrupt files..
As a note: As far as Apple Support was concerned I didn't like the fact that each time new Case ID's assigned, or that I had to constantly explain the "sequence of events" leading up to the current call. In addition, the first call was worthless and had I talked to tech from call number three, it would have been fixed then without even sending in.
Anyway, hope this all helps someone...problem solved.

I'm sorry to see that no one has answered this. I'm hoping Apple with reply to my support request, as I'm having the same issue. I really don't want to continue with iCloud at this point.

  • External hard drive continually restarts my mac

I have a Mac mini running the latest version of OSX. Everything with the Mac is fine. It works perfectly.
Recently I had an issue with my email which led me to find out that I had two viruses on my computer. Fine. I downloaded a free Anti-Virus app that had found these and it was able to delete one of them. The one on my computer. Fine. The other was within the email back up within Time Machine. And this is where my troubles started.
First off Time Machine conveniently makes it impossible for Anti-Virus software to do its job of deleting a virus. OK, no problem. I decided I would manually delete the file. Could find it. So I decided to just delete all of the email back ups in Time Machine. I could see how this was done. Eventually out of frustration I decided to delete Time Machine completely as this would surely solve the problem.
The Time Machine file is kept on an external hard drive. An extremely important one that contains, separately all of my work and associated files (kept separately from Time Machine). So I opened up the hard drive, and put the Time Machine file into the trash. I then clicked on delete. The file wouldn't delete and the delete dialogue box hung, and then the system hung. So I pulled the mains cable from the Mac in order to switch it off.
The computer is fine. The operating system is fine. Everything works. However, the hard drive with partly deleted Time Machine file continually restarts my computer. I've run the D-key-on-start-up diagnostics and my computer is fine. I tried opening up Disk Utility and connecting the external drive, in the hope that it would be able to fix the problem. It doesn't. Or at least it doesn't get a chance because the computer restarts. And will continue to do so while that hard drive is connected to the computer.
Incidentally, having the external connected while attempting to run D-key-start-up diagnostics has the diagnostic software hang.
    So I need help.
I've checked online and of course there's absolutely nothing (that I can find) to help me.
Incidentally, I tried connecting the external to a friend's PC. The drive is recognised, and by the sound of things is working perfectly. However because Time Machine requires a specific type of format to work the PC was unable to read the files. I was hoping to delete this destructive Time Machine file which has now proved more upsetting, more destructive and ultimately more trouble than the original virus that started this sorry mess.
Whoever is unfortunate enough to read this, thank you for your time, and I apologise if I come across as sarcastic or anti-Apple in any way.
    Regards,
    Ian

Already have. It's fine. As it alway has been, the start up disc is the main hard drive in the computer.
As I mentioned in my original message I was hoping that Disk Utility would be able to see the disc, find the problem and resolve it. I deeply regret formatting that disc for Time Machine now, as had I not done so (ignoring the fact I wouldn't have ever used that thing) I would have at least been able to connect to my friend's PC. I wonder if there's a clever application out there that will allow the hard drive to mount and not take down my computer to allow either the files to be removed and the disc reformatted, or actually be able to fix the problem. I'm genuinely shocked that a semi-deleted file can cause such a big problem.

  • Iphone not charging and continuously restarting when connected

Last night I let my iphone 4 run down to 2% charge. I plugged it into the charger (china one) and it would come up with the electricity symbol, but not be charging. I then connected it to my genuine apple charger and the same thing happened. It then continuously restarted, i.e. apple screen for a few seconds, then my pincode screen for a split second, then the thinking and restarting symbol (round in a circle) before going black for a few seconds then back to the apple screen. I couldn't get it out of this loop, so I connected it to my itunes. The same reboot happened once, then it came up with an error message
"itunes could not connect to this iphone beause an unknown error occurred (OxE8000065)"
The next morning I unplugged and replugged the phone into the mac and a different message popped up
"The iphone cannot be synced. An internal device error occured."
It did the restart  again and I tried a reset (home and lock button) but it just went through the restart back to a black screen again.
I tried it in a different USB port and possibly coincidentally, it now says on itunes
"the phone "xx iphone" cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found."
Now if I press the home button, the battery image comes up with minimal red bar. It does not go through the restart loop.
My thoughts - have I dropped it one too many times (as I had the day before) and the battery has come loose (won't charge)? If so I will pull it apart and have a look as it's 10 days out of warranty.
Should I try a DFU or Recovery mode whilst plugged into the mac? I have a back up on icloud but still chance to lose lots of data.
What do I try first or are there any other suggestions? And thank you for reading this long winded issue!

I ended up going to the Apple Store and they said it's a common problem. As my phone was out of warranty I had to pay for a refurbished one, but it still works 1 year later. Better than forking out $600 for a brand new one.

  • While updating ipod touch 4 i got an error message now stuck with apple symbol and empty bar. can i restart ipod?

while updating ipod touch 4 i got an error message now stuck with apple symbol and empty bar. can i restart ipod?

    - What was the error message?
    - Try closing iTunes and then disconnect the iPod from the computer. Then reconnect the iPod.  If the iPod shows in iTunes then you can try again.  However, You should try to resolve the error message first.
    - If iTunes does not see the iPod try reetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - I recommend that you come back with the what the error message said and the condition of the iPod and if it is visible in iTunes.

  • Computer continually restarts

My Macbook Pro continually restarts and occasionally will start up. Version 10.9.5  Processor: 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 Memory: 8GB 1067 MHZ DDR3 Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB
It suddenly happened and I am unsure why. I had apple run diagnostics and it seemed to fix it temporarily. I reformatted the computer and have absolutely no download programs on it. It was running okay and then suddenly began restarting. Once it finally booted back up I was shown this error report. Any help is greatly appreciated in advance, truly thankful for this forum.
