Contrast and calibration of imac 27"

I am an artist who does a lot of digital artwork. One thing I'm running into is that when I create work on my mac they all look great but then looking at them on a PC (any PC, and I've checked on nearly 10 PCs), they all look washed out and gray-ish. I figured this was due to the default contrast of my imac, but every time I calibrate to decrease the contrast and save the new profile, it saves darker than what I had set it to.
Would anyone be able to help me find a way around this? is there a way to decrease the contrast? would an ICC profile from a PC work on a mac?

Problem with the iMac setup: there is only a very low input signal as indicated by the system preferences and the garageband volume indicator.
I think the problem may be caused by the audio properties of the line in or garageband 09 (or myself and I messed something up).
Perhaps someone has some suggestions.
It's hardware not software. My guess is the output of your amp is not matched with the input of your computer.
The best solution is to use an interface which can deal with proper impedance and level matching. Anything else is kind of hit or miss. If it works... great! But kind of hit or miss.
