Contrast/Brightness App Setting Adjustments

I am visually impaired, and use a screen magnifier (ZoomText) that is set to reverse the colors (white on black). How can I lighten the tool bars and darken the fonts on the tool bars so that it is easier to manuver within the programs without having to turn on and off the settings in my ZoomText.
I had found these settings options before for a couple of my apps from Creative Cloud. But I just upgraded my RAM and swapped my HD to a SSD, so I had to reinstall the apps and unforuntately lost those special settings that I had set, and of course now I can't seem to find them again...??
I am using Muse, Flash Pro, Illustrator, and Photoshop. I design digital signage for my coffee shop, so any other apps that anyone might suggest to incorporate in my tool box would be greately appreciated.
But as for now, just being able to lighten the contrast or brightness and darken the text in the apps in general would be a huge help.

ok...yeah..yeah...I found it. Silly me. Edit>Preferences>Interface. Adobe couldn't have made it any easier...!

How can I manually change contrast/brightness/colors?

I want to simply use some slider to adjust the contrast, brightness, gamma or color balance in my MacBook Pro, but for some reason I'm unable to find it. All I can find is the calibration process, but when I calibrate it "correctly", the screen is a bit too dark so I just want to adjust the brightness/gamma manually AFTER the calibration. How? Where? Please don't tell me that it's one of the "Apple doesn't allow me to do this" things ;-)

The only way I know how is though System Preferences > Displays
For Brightness there is a slider in System Preferences > Displays > Display ( Tab )
For Gamma and Contrast you have to use the Display Calibrator Assistant found in System Preferences > Displays > Color ( Tab ) > Calibrate...
Although if you use Expert Mode there are more options.
You can fine tune the Color Profile settings if you use Expert Mode. Then you just go through the prompts and adjust as you would like it.

Splitting an App Set

Hello,
We are on 5.1 SP1 and have a huge amount of history data (100 million records) that needs to be kept but only needs to be accessed by a small group of people from time to time.
Our thoughts were to split the application set into APP and APP_HISTORY. All the data for 2007 and earlier would be kept only in the HISTORY app set.
PROS:
Administration performance would be improved
Storage issues will be improved
Move new data to HISTORY as year in finished with
CONS:
Have to maintain two sets of dimensions in sync
Reporting on both sets of data becomes more complicated
1. Does anyone have any thoughts about our approach to this?
2. Can anyone provide any help on the most appropriate steps we should take to populate the data in the HISTORY app set?

In our implementation, we created a separate app (NOT appset) for History. This works well for all the reasons you talked about.
Please do not forget, however, that companies like/need comparative data. Our reports have all been geared to pick from the appropriate app depending on the year being reported. You may not have worked that in to your reports. So you need to use judgement in deciding when a year becomes 'history'.

I haven’t been able to find any.
Since the .m4v file type appears to prevent any video bought or rented from the iTunes Store from being played using any other program the lack of these picture controls - if indeed they are lacking - make it seriously deficient as a video player.

I know that it’s possible to adjust the monitor’s performance via System Preferences but it is rather long-winded and I’d rather not alter the settings for the entire screen (and then have to change them all back once finished) when it’s only the video playback window that needs adjustment.
Since iTunes provides various options using the Equalizer for adjusting sound playback it seems rather odd that they don’t have a similar panel for video.
Regarding QuickTime.
Apparently earlier versions (such as 7) had picture controls but the current version (10.4) does not.
I assume Apple are phasing out QT whose development seems to have stopped - or rather gone backwards since it now lacks capabilities it once had - and intend in future to treat iTunes as their universal media player which no doubt makes sense from their point of view.
I wasn’t aware of the .m4v file type when I made my first and probably last video purchase via iTunes yesterday and didn’t realise that it would restrict my options for playback so completely.
The experience has really put me off buying any additional video from the iTunes Store.

Mplayer too dark, Equalizer(Contrast,Brightness,Hue,Saturation)

Playing videos on mplayer were too dark!
and Equalizer -> Video (Contrast,Brightness,Hue,Saturation) controls were unavailable/not working!
After some research, I found a solution, for both problems.

Open a Filemanager as root, and go to /etc/mplayer and create a file called mplayer.conf, and paste this code inside.

Remember to leave 3 empty lines at the end of the code, before saving.
Notice I changed the 3rd default value in eq2 from 0.0 to 0.1, this will appear as 10 in the equalizer.
This 10% increase in brightness gave me a brightness, similar to watching the same video in VLC.
Well I hope it helps someone else having the same issue. :-)

since front row just hijacks dvd player and such you should be able to change it in dvd player's preferances. are the tv shows from the itunes music store?

Help: BPC admin view stuck in creating a new App set

We have SAP BPC 7.5.05.1002 NW. I have tried to create a new app set by copying an existing application set. The BPC admin view has been stuck for a couple of hours now. I have a dialog box on the screen, with the message "Waiting for the server's response....". The "OK" button is greyed out.
I would appreciate any help on this. What would happen if I were to cancel this (shut-down my BPC front end)? Would that cause any problems in the BPC application or the application set which is copied across to the new app set?

Saving Saving separate app sets for two iPhones?

This has probably been asked before, sorry if redundant.
I have an iPhone and an iPad, my wife has an iPhone. We prefer different apps on pur phones and a different set for the iPad. iTunes recognizes the devices with different names when they are attached, but the app set from the last device attached is still checked.
It's a real pain to have to go through, checking and unchecking each time, just to Sync one or two new items.
Is there a way to "save" your app set for each item so that when you connect a device, it recognizes it AND the last app set you choose for that device?
Probably a real easy solution but darned if I can figure it out.

The recommended way to handle things is with separate user accounts on the Mac. You'll both have separate iTunes libraries and address books/calendars. You can also each use your own iTunes account much easier that way.
IF you insist on sharing one user account, you can select which groups of contacts sync to each phone in the iTunes preferences. You could also forego syncing contacts with the Mac and sync them with a service like Google or Yahoo instead. This will keep them separate.

Since 2 days when I try to validate or distribute my app it says "Version Mismatch. Neither CFBundleversion ['1.1'] nor CFBundleShortVersionString ['1.1'] in the info.plist match the version of the app set in iTunes Connect ['1.1']". Today it also always says that the Network Connection was lost. Can someone tell me how to solve this problems?

Could be a hardware failure.
Restore the iPhone, first from a backup, then as new, and see if the issue persists. If it persists when you restore as new, then there's a hardware issue with your phone and you need to bring it to an Apple store to be evaluated.

How do I modify the contrast/brightness/adjust color of only a PORTION of a picture?

I'm working with Adobe Photoshop Elements version #10.
How can I adjust the contrast/brightness/adjust color etc. . .of just a PORTION of a picture, and not the entire picture?
I've tried "defining" an area that I want to change by using a lasso tool, but when I custom draw an area of the picture, I don't see
any option that lets me adjust the contrast/brightness etc....of that section.

Once you select it, anything you do should apply only to the selected area, or you can create a new layer from the selection, too. So if you make a selection and apply levels, it should only change the selected area. The new layer gives you the option of going back later to change or delete your corrections.
For what you want to do you can also use the smart brush, which lets you select and apply corrections in one go. Just sort through the smart tool's options in the options bar's thumbnail's popout menu till you find what you want.

40D automatically applies Contrast, Brightness?

Just bought a used 40D. I shoot in Raw. Set the Picture Style to Neural, no added Sharpening, Contrast, or Sat, all set to zero. But when I open the image in LR3.6, it has Med Contrast applied and also Brightness is at +50, Contrast +25. On my 5D all images are at zero everything. Why is my 40D automatically applying these settings?

LR doesn’t care what you set the camera to do except for White Balance. The camera settings only affect the camera JPGs The Adobe raw engine has its own settings.
The settings you describe for the 40D are the factory (Adobe) defaults for Process Version 2010 and before in LR 3.6 and before.
The 5D would use the same settings, I believe, but perhaps the factory defaults are different for the 5D (which would be news to me), or perhaps you’ve changed the defaults, which are managed specific to a camera model, and optionally to a camera serial number and ISO setting, or perhaps you’ve processed those images in LR4 which has the new Process Version 2012 and toning defaults of zeros, not that these are a lot different than PV2010 defaults, just that Adobe choose to make their factory defaults read zeros instead of other numbers.

Background contrast on Apps screen & blinking green light

Newbie here. The Apps screen had a blue background but is now white and I am unable to read the titles of the icons at the bottom of the screen. How can I get rid of the white background and return to the blue contrast?
Additionally the green indicator light is blinking non-stop. Why is it doing that now when it never did before?

Not sure about an answer to your 1st question, but the blinking green light simply means that your phone is connected to your carrier. I use it just so I know at a glance whether my phone's actually on or not. To disable that blinker, go to Options > Screen/Keyboard > LED Coverage Indicator and change the setting to "off".
