Contrast Lost in Safari

As usual something very out there has occurred.  I think it's repairable through ColorSyncUtility or Accessability.  I will not use Terminal as that's neurosurgery and I'm not advanced enough to be confident.
The problem is there is no contrast on my screens in Safari.  That means for example in gmail at the bottom of the message the small tabs for changing or editing anything in the message like font, type size &c. are too faint to discern.  I think that's all I would need to tell you.  I tried google images and there are no images.
I tried Google Chrome and there are images if I use that.  I don't want to use Google Chrome, though.  I think Safari's a better all round product.
Is there a way back home or am I stuck w/Toto in this handbasket 'til the last trump?

Drag the Safari app icon straight up off the Dock so it goes "poof".
Now install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
Then restart your Mac. It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.6.8.
Then launch Safari from the Applications folder. If it lauches like it should, click the new Safari icon in the Dock then click Options > Keep in Dock

  • I lost my safari and mail icons.  How can I get them back in the screen?

I lost my safari and mail icons on the ipad screen.  How can I get them back or where can I find them?

Have you checked all your homescreens and app folders for them, and do they show on the iPad's spotlight search screen (swipe your first homescreen to the right and type in Safari or Mail) ?
Safari can be hidden via Settings > General > Restrictions > Safari being 'off', so you could check that as well.
If you still can't find then try a reset and see if you can find them after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot
There is also Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout which will reset the layout of your apps and might make it easier to find them.

I have lost my Safari app and all the bookmarks that go with it. I have tried to download my back-up on external drive but cannot access it. Tried a start with C key held down but still no access to the back up app.
Have used Superduper app. to back up and checked back-up occasionally to see if all files present  and appeared OK.
I had previously started machine using original CD #1 to try and replace Eudora which was acting up. Did not knowingly touch Safari.
    Running iMAC System 10.4.11
How can I successfully download from the Maxtor back-up?
    Ivan

    Further info.
I checked the content of my other back-up and found the bookmark Bookmarks.plist in the library under Safari
Dumped the existing copy in the computer and drag-dropped the back up. All bookmarks restored.
Solved the Stickies problem by using Spotlight  to find file "stickiesdatabase" and did a drag- drop to replace file. All data restored.
Re Ical data loss. Used Spotlight to find iCal document in  Library - Preferences where I found com.apple.iCal.plist in folder.
Got ready to make change but did not immediately remove file. When I returned to Preferences folder to grab above document,
the readable descriptors had been changed to code consisting of some upper case letters and/or single symbols!
So now I cannot tell which is the symbol  iCal.plist
Thanks for leading me so far, but how do I find that plist for my calendar?

If you can open Safari go to the top of your screen, click Safari / Preferences then select the General stab. You can type in the web address for your Home page there.

  • I lost my Safari program how can I reinstall it?

I lost my safari program .. How can I reinstall it?

On 10.6.8 : Safari 5.1.10 for Snow Leopard
    On 10.7 & later : OS X Mountain Lion: Reinstall OS X
Unless you have a backup to recover it from.

  • I lost my safari on my I pad how could I install it back

I lost my safari on my I pad how could I install it back

You can't delete it or lose it .You can't delete or re install the pre installed iPad apps. Try swiping from screen to screen to find it. Look in all of your folders as well. You can also do a spotlight search. Swipe to the right from your home screen to bring up the search feature. Type Safari into the text field and search. This will show you that it is on your iPad somewhere.
Do you have restrictions enabled? That will hide the app icon as well. Go to Settings>General>Restrictions and see if you have "on" selected. If so, turn it off and look again.
You can also restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. Then hold down on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears to start up again. Look for Safari again.

  • I have just started using the i phone 5 and have lost the Safari icon it was there now its gone ! any ideas guys

I have just started using the i phone 5 and have lost the Safari icon it was there now its gone ! any ideas guys

    Hi
You might have swiped it into another icon by error if you were moving things around.  You can find these easily as they have a black background.
Also, to see if you rae running an active Safari, double click on your bottom button and all of the  active applicatiosn will come up.  You can scroll through these to see if Safari is running (and not lost).
    Cheers

  • Hi! I lost my safari in my Iphone, how do I find it again?

Hi! I lost my safari-app in my Iphone. Have I by mistake pressed a button or what? How di I get it back?

If you still don't see it, you may have inadvertantly hidden it using restrictions.
One other possibility. If you added an Exchange account it is possible for the system administrators to push down policies that forbid web browsing. This would cause Safari to disappear from the phone until they either change the policy or you remove the account from the phone.  Note that if you have an exchange account set up and it's not restricted, the admin can change the policy at any time, which will cause it to disappear without any action on your part.

  • HT201272 i have a iphone 4 after installing backup i have lost the safari

i have lost the safari app can i restore it again

If you can't find it on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find it via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then is it hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > Safari being set 'off' ?
If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find it after the phone has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

  • Looking for a high-contrast extension for Safari for Windows

First of all, what do we call them - extensions or plugins?
Is there an extension for Safari for Windows for high-contrast? I can't find one anywhere. Windows 7 is set to a HC theme. IE just follows suit. Chrome detected this, ad offered to install a theme.
Don't know why, but I still prefer Safari on my Win7 system. But really need HC. One that just inverts the colors would work, but one with several other options like the Chrome extension would be better.
A Link! A Link! My kingdom for a Link!

Apple has dropped support for Safari on Windows

  • Too contrast colors in Safari 6.0

Colors in new Safari 6.0 have become weird, too contrast if you will.

Reading between the lines (...the word entire gave me a much needed clue) I realized that both my wife and I had passwords to this website and I needed to delete both sets of lines. After months of not thinking of this system quirk it's now done. Thanks.
Of course, I had been clicking on the entire line, username-website-password, but it hadn't been working. I had given up months ago but now just felt lucky to try again.
    Ciao!
