Help.
After being forced to upgrade to 6.5 since my version would not work after upgrading to Mavericks OS I get the "Access denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem." error on one of the sites I manage when trying to publish an edit to a page.
I have looked at prior fixes but none seen to apply to version 6.5
I have uninstalled, reinstalled and now have a fresh install on a new computer and still the issue persists.
I'll appreciate any help to resolve this issue.

I encountered the same error message, then remembered I had changed the name of my hard drive. I changed the HD name back and was able to access. Now trying to figure out how I can change the path to my local files so that I can re-change my HD name.

[MX 2004} Can't upload! The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem

I'm running MX 2004 on Windows XP. All's been well for the
last few months, doing site maintenance at this part-time job. I
get tangled up a bit in checking files in and out, coming from
GoLive, and since there's no one else with FTP access, yesterday I
told it to check the entire site in. I didn't have any changes I
didn't want to commit, and I figured that would keep things a
little neater.
As of today, I can post revisions to existing pages, or
resize image files, but when I create a new page, or try to place a
new image file on an existing page, I can't upload it.
So, to be clear: I have two pages already up on the site,
index.html and apple.html, with a link between them. If I create
new page banana.html and make a link to it from index, index.html
will upload that revised link, but banana.html is refused with the
message
FTP error: The file may not exist, or there could be a
permission problem
I know the file doesn't exist (remotely); I just made it.
I've gone to Prefs and disable Check In / Check Out, which didn't
do me any good. What next?

Can you open the FTP log, select one of these new files and
upload it- then
cut and paste relevant part of the ftp log?
Also- does this site have a "host directory", a subfolder
that your public
files need to go into? If yes- is this folder listed in the
host directory
line of the remote server info?
And odd past thing i've seen-
Had hosting that used public_html as the public folder name.
They also had a symbolic link named www that pointed to
public_html
Could upload/download existing files with www in "host
directory" line of
dw; but could not upload new files or work with files in
subfolders.
changing to public_html instead of the www symlink fixed this
for me.

Nobody can tell you anything without knowing exact site and server specs, but I would suspect that naming the folder "html" wasn't the brightest of ideas, since that's usually a default (invisible) folder name existing somewhere on the server and the user not having privileges to overwrite it.

Trying to open a vcf file (vCard) from a user. After double-clicking file, get message:
Cannot open file: C:\folder\filename.vcf. The file may not exist, you may not have permission to open it, or it may be open in another program. Right-click the folder that contains
the file, and then click Properties to check your permissions for the folder. Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.
I have Outlook 2010 with SP2.

I turn OFF cached exchange mode. I double-click the vcf file, it opens fine.
I turn ON cached exchange mode. I double-click the vcf file, I get the erorr message again.
We have hosted Exchange, so we can't turn off cached exchange mode in Outlook.
Is this a bug? Anybody know of a fix?
By the way, if I save one of my contact as a vcf file
and double-click it, it opens fine.

I'm getting the following message in my pdf file , after running the batch R3465 :

What does that mean ? Can anyone help ?

On upload, I'm told access is denied or file does not exist

I'm trying to start maintaing this website that was built by someone else. She gave me all of the server information and when I test the FTP connection it works no problem. When I try to upload the files I get an error that says this
"An FTP error occurred - cannot put index.html. Access denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem. Make sure you have proper authorization on the server and the server is properly configured"
when I run site reports it tells me that the modifier of the site is unknown. I'm really new to Dreamweaver and am by no means a networking genius, so FTP is still a bit foreign to me.
also, I am just using the "push" button to get my files online now. Is this right?

I've seen that error from 2 main sources...
1. You might be missing your remote root folder in your FTP settings. The server may allow you to connect one level higher than your missing root, but not upload to that location, which would give you the error you see, but allow you to test the connection successfully.
2. Your permissions may be mucked up, which happens frequently with certain hosting companies. Verify with the hosting company that you have all of the info you need and that your credentials allow full access.
DW has two main FTP functions, "Put" which puts files on the server overwriting server files with your local copies and "Get" which gets files from the server and overwrites your local files. There is also a Synchronize function, which overwrites changed files since the last synchronize.

That file might have moved to a different location on the server. I think you'll need to check with RefWorks support or your local IT department on why the install page links do not work.

It looks like you're actually using a camera or phone to take a photo of your monitor.
That's not what is commonly known as a "screen shot".
It looks like you're on a Mac. Hitting Command+Shift+3 places a capture of the contents of your entire monitor on your Desktop; hitting Command+Shift+4 will give you a cross-hairs cursor for you to select just the portion you want to capture.
I'm mentioning this because I fear I'm not construing your original post correctly when you type "I am working with a large files [sic], currently it has 149 layers, all of which are high resolution photographs", so I'm wondering if there's some similar use of your own idiosyncratic nomenclature in your description of your troublesome file.
Perhaps I'm just having a major senior moment myself, but I'm utterly unable to imagine such a file. Would you mind elaborating?

Are you using Photos, or iPhoto? Maybe you've got a corrupt file on your camera. I would try using the image capture application to import the bad picture to my desktop. If it works and the picture looks ok, then delete that pic from the camera, then try to import into iphoto again. You can then import the pic it was saying was bad from your desktop.
Or, try downloading all the pics using image capture and then import from the download folder.

Was it properly closed? There may still be a lock file (.idlk) in the folder where it is saved.

I have the same problem. It is only with tv shows and only with programs I have downloaded after the software update.
Apple support sent me the above link too....but it doesn't solve the problem...my computer is authorized and the content is in my library and will play on my Mac air, but it will not sync the tv shows, it keeps saying my computer isn't authorized for it.

I'm suspecting it to come from a mac user, if that could influence the case...
It does come from a Mac, as is proven by the fonts, which are of no use on my Windows machine, but that doesn't prevent my CS4 to open it without any problem. It seems to me it's a perfectly regular CS2 file.
Just for cheers I set the file to Read-only, but my InDesign opens it regardless (again as a copy, because it's a "converted" file).
Could it be something in your environment? No network read/write privileges, insufficient free hard disk space, stuff like that?

I am trying to get all web parts from our sharepoint site by calling web service method GetWebPartProperties of WebPartsPages service. The method works fine for the root page (Home Page) but for pages in sub site i get this in the xml
node, Outer XML - <WebParts xmlns="http://microsoft.com/sharepoint/webpartpages"></WebParts>. I am struck here.
Please help me understand why i am getting this?

We can do as follows:
1. Mark sure the page URL is correct.
2. Check whether current user has permission to access the page.
3. Use SPServices to get web part properties.
