Contribute as a CMS help

I'm having difficulties finding a trial version of the CPS software or any related info on Adobe's site.
I have contribute CS4 and would like to evaluate a solution where others can edit sections of my website in a browser. I thought contribute enabled that, but I can't find any meaningful information on Adobe's site. There used to be some tutorials I remember watching, but they don't exist anymore.
The contribute product page talkes about a user license for CPS, but I can't find a trial version of the CPS either, only a trial version of contribute.
Adobe contribute doesn't even show as a product to select in adobe TV! Is Adobe abandoning contribute?

When you create your component that you want to serve as a Search Help, be sure to add the Web Dynpro Interface IWD_VALUE_HELP.  You must also implement the Method of the Component Controller - SET_VALUE_HELP_LISTENER (added by the above mentioned interface). 
In the component where you want to use this search help - add a component usage (just like you would for an ALV) except for the above custom component you created to serve as a Search Help.  Then for the properites of the context attribute that you want to attach the search help, Change the Input Help Mode to Freely Programmed.  You will then get a new property called Input Help Component Usage.  Simply choose the name of the component usage you just created.

  • CMS Help!

    Hello,
    I am a middle of the road developer - not an expert, not a
    newbie. I have had more clients ask me to be able to update their
    sites in their own. I have had some clients use Contribute - but
    then they are limited to just the pages that are html and as well,
    limited to the one computer that the software is located on.
    I have seen some larger developer who are using content
    management systems to develop the majority of thier websites - one
    system is ExpressionEngine from pmachine.com. I have done some
    administrative sections for clients with ASP/MSSQL, so I could
    realistically write my own CMS, but do I want to or am I just
    recreating the wheel so to speak? If I create my own, I would be
    more comfortable with ASP, but is it better to write it in PHP?
    I have one particular client that uses a backend MS SQL
    database (it is a doctor's office) that we hope eventually we can
    hook up to for the web site, but at this point, we have to have the
    two separate. So at this point, I want to have a CMS for them that
    is MS SQL based - but the more research I do, the more I see PHP
    and MySQL being used for CMS. Is there a reason for using one
    language over the other? I think PHP is becoming more industry
    standard, but MS SQL is a more powerful database. (can I write it
    in PHP with a MS SQL database?)
    I also have a new set of clients that need similar sites that
    would be best run with a CMS. I want to be able to offer different
    design templates for them to choose from (templates or different
    css files??), have the basic pages set up that they all will
    probably need - but also be able to offer them the ability to add
    their own pages, forms, mailing lists, forums, etc. Also, I don't
    need a user-friendly interface to get it set up, but would need a
    very user-friendly interface for the clients to do their updating.
    Any advice here?
    On top of it all, I have two clients that I would like to set

    have online ordering. I have set this up with Web Assist's shopping
    cart - so I can do it from my end, but can it be integrated into a
    CMS. I like to have control over the products and how they come up,
    and in building the database - so again, I should build my own -

    of client and is basically prebuilt that I can customize, that
    would be a big asset to me.
    Oh, and is it better to have a CMS that is database driven or
    that it html based? Searchability?
    I don't mind a large learning curve for a CMS, but really
    want to start out with one that is highly recommended, that I can
    customize if I need to, and hopefully will work with a dreamweaver
    template/design, will stay around - or something that I can still
    use if they are not around, and will work with all these different
    situations (and I would like to win the lottery too - which is more
    likely?) I know there are hughly expensive CMS programs out there -
    I would of course love to find a free one that I can customize, but
    I don't mind paying ($100 - 250) per site (but not paying each
    month) I would love any recommendations!! Does anyone have a web
    design firm that uses a solution for their clients and that they
    are happy with??

  • Contribute Connection Disabled.  Help Please!

    When I try to connect to one of my sites in Contribute 2 or
    Contribute 3, I get the following error.
    CONTRIBUTE HAS DISABLED YOUR CONNECTION TO THIS WEBSITE
    BECAUSE AN UNKNOWN ERROR OCCURRED. FOR MORE INFORMATION CONTACT
    THIS WEBSITE'S ADMINISTRATOR.
    Well...the problem is...I am the administrator and I have no
    clue what is going on. Other sites that I have in Contribute are
    working beautifully. But not this one. What should I do? What can I
    do? Please help....angry client has called several times.

    We are not able to reproduce the issue using SFTP connection
    against
    Windows 2003 Server with SSL enabled and SFTP running on it.
    The SFTP server we have used is WinSSHD. Can you please let

  • Wordpress/CMS help...

    I'm trying to create a Content Management System for my latest site.. basically I have news to be updated all the time on this site, and would like to just use Wordpress as a CMS so all I need to do is post a new story, and it will become to the top story on my site, and the rest will work its way down. I also want to be able to tag it on the different driver profile pages. I'm just looking to get into the right direction. I already have Wordpress all set up and installed on our server. If anyone can please just get me pointed in the right direction, it would be much appreciated!

    That's a blog.  Wordpress will do that for you without even breaking into a sweat.

    I'm not sure what direction?  Maybe Nancy O's links are what you are after.
    If you want to edit your Wordpress theme and you have a reasonable knowledge of CSS HTML, then look into "Child Themes."  Find a solid theme and then make it your own with a child theme.

  • Thinkpad t420s - Help with video card on Ubuntu 11.04

    Hi,
    I just purchsed a Lenovo t420s with the following system specs:
    Intel Core i7-2620M Processor (2.70GHz, 4MB L3,1333MHz FSB) with Intel
    14.0" HD+ (1600 x 900) LED Backlit Antiglare Display, Mobile Broadband Ready
    NVIDIA Quadro NVS4200M Optimus technology (1GB)
    6 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
    128GB Solid State Drive, Serial ATA
    Intel WiFi Link 1000
    It's a really good machine, but unfortunately I am having problems making it work with Ubuntu 11.04. I am a long-term Linux user, a python developer and a supporter of open source software, I cannot use Windows for my purposes and  I need help to enable my vide card drivers.
    I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.04 on my system, and updated all packages. I then installed the ltest Nvidia drivers available, and ensured that Optimus is disabled in the BIOS. After rebooting, nvidia-settings complained that my system isn't configured to rnu the drivers and I must run nvidia-xconfig so I did.
    After running nvidia-xconfig, my system wouldn't want to run Xorg, and stayed in terminal mode. I checked the xorg log and found this:
    (!!) More than one possible primary device found
    (II) Primary Device is:
    (EE) No devices detected.
    Fatal server error:
    no screens found
    I saw something about this error here : ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/270.41.03/README/README.txt
    I am running version 1.7 ov xorg, so this should be fixed. I tried to nvidia-xconfig --enable-all-gpus but it still wouldn't work.
    The Ubuntu market is now at about 15 million Desktop users, and many more with other Linux distributions, I think Lenovo would greatly benefit by contributing to Ubuntu and helping the software be compatible with the hardware they sell.
    Could someone please help me with this?

    This will not help, but I recently tried 11.04 on a
    Z560 (with just intel graphics) and had no luck
    getting it to work. Previous versions work fine.
    Is there any other linux distro that will serve your purpose?

    hi friends
    we are implementing SAP HR in our company. we have ECC 5.0(Aix 5.3 64 bit with oracle 9i) and we have a requirement to implement CMS (content mangement server) for the payroll & uploading of employee photos.
    could you please help in providing us the overview of what are the requirements of installing a CMS in SAP.We only have one windows 32 bit machine with 160 gb of hard disk and 2 gb ram. So do we need to purchase another machine or can we configure the CMS on this spare machine.
    also, is it possible to configure the CMS on the SAP application server with existing landscape without the need of buying a new hardware.
    i would really appreciate if you could help me on this topic. I have read the CMS help document but i need expertise from people who have implemented CMS or are planning to do , to know what is the best practice.

    You could install CMS (usage type DI) in 2 ways:
    1. Install it as a standalone instance of with NW 640 SAPinst, which I recommend to go with because of flexibility.
    2. Patch all necessary components by SDM to an existing AS Java instance, to find needed components in SWDC:
    Support Packages and Patches - Entry by Application Group" SAP NetWeaver" SAP NETWEAVER" SAP NETWEAVER 04" Entry by Component" Development Infrastructure

    As you mentioned, needing a new server or going with current hardware depends on the workload of this DI instance. If it'll be in charge of transports and development work for a number of Java instances, you can get a general idea from http://service.sap.com/quicksizer

  • Testing dreamweaver templates in contribute

    I have a client that wants me to set up a template for
    sending mass HTML e-mail that they can edit in contribute. I have
    set up the page and template in dreamwever and want to post and
    test. Is there any easy way to do this without setting up a full
    fledged contribute server. Any help would be great.

    How are they going to send the mail, from their own computer
    using an emailclient or from a server, using a database and script?
    When they use an emailclient like Outlook Express, you could
    save the html file based on the template on their computer and make
    it available as newsletter in Outlook Express (send it BCC, cause
    otherwise eveyone gets all the email addresses).
    Your client could edit this file using Contribute (in the
    menu go to File, Open, Edit the file in edit mode and save the
    file).

  • Start up issue... A flashing ? PLEASE HELP

    :-/ Can anyone help??
    I have a g4 power mac that runs on os9 & osX. Whilst running a scanner in os9 the mac crashed and i have not been able to restart since.... all I get is a FLASHING ?.
    I have;
    *rest the PRAM,
    *started the mac up with a CD holding down C key.. gone to disk utilities and verified the computer... everything was ok,
    * started the mac up holding down X key to reboot in osX,
    *rebooted holding down the option key... I get the correct screen with a cicular arrow and a straight arrow but there are no startup drives to select.
    Is my G4 Mac...DOOMED?? Can anyone suggest anything to get it started? Will I be able to retrieve the work i have done?

    Thanks for the help everyone... Gary was correct in the problem was that it couldn't recognise the startup OS. Due to it crashing in OS9 it damaged a file extension and couldn't see the path back to OSX as well as not recognising the OS9CD.
    In the end I had to take relunctantly to the local apple dealer in the end paying 65pounds for the privelage.
    Luckily it was as simple as starting the G4 up using an external hard drive connected by firewire running OSX Tiger as the startup OS & deleting the offending file extension and reinstalling it.
    Thankfully it didn't cost 100's of pounds!!

  • How to edit drop down menus in Contribute?

    When I get to a page on my site with drop down (or jump) menus, there doesn't seem to be any way of editing these in Contribute. Anyone know how to do this?

         If you have used Spry widgets (like Menu bar widget), then, you can edit the menus within Contribute CS5 itself. But if you are using any other way like a script based or 'form action' then, within Contribute you cannot edit such menus. You can choose to edit such web pages in an external application (like Dreamweaver, Textpad, or Notepad) by clicking Ctrl+Shift+E, and the web page will be opened in that editor. You can make changes there, save it, and publish the web page in Contribute.

  • Uninstalling Contribute 3 using a script (in Altiris)

    Hello all, I've been tasked to rollout Contribute CS3 to our
    organization that has Contribute 3 (3.11) installed.
    I'm hoping to do this through Altiris using a script but have
    found that the uninstall script does not do anything at all.
    I found this on the Adobe website at URL:

    I tried adding the /quiet to streamline it so it would not
    have any prompts but still the end result is the the command runs
    but does not uninstall the application.

    uninstalling Contribute 3 and then installing Contribute CS3? Any
    help would be greatly appreciated.

    If you are running Windows XP Embedded, you probably not be able to upgrade.  Did you make the Embedded image or was it already on the thin clients when you purchased them?

    Can you try renaming the PSAPI.DLL that is residing in your
    {<Drive>:\Program Files\...\Contribute xx\Configuration\}
    Folder and relaunch Contribute.

  • Url glitches: Contribute 3.1 Mac

    Hi,
    I'm using Contribute 3.1 to edit some pages on my site. Added
    a link to a url that includes the colon symbol (:) On uploading the
    page for preview, the colon is transformed to "%3A" in the source
    code, and the link. Naturally, the link doesn't take me to where I
    want to go.
    I have tried entering the url through the link properties
    panel and through text edit directly in the page code. Either way
    the colon changes to %3A on upload.

    Hi ,
    Try changing the default browser in your File editors;
    Edit -> Preferences ->File Editors , Slect Web Page
    Source and add Firefox
    in the editors. make this the primary editor.
    Save the setting and relaunch Contribute.

  • Custom Incident Form Data Binding Help

    Hello Everyone! I'm relatively new to TechNet and am excited to learn a lot as well as contribute my experiences and help others learn as well! 
    I have read through tutorials, taken the MVA SCSM course, and even read through some books like SCSM 2010 Unleashed, and Microsoft System Center Service Manager Cookbook.
    I am currently working on an SCSM 2012 project, in which I have to create a custom incident form for use within the console. I have tried to extend the existing form in the authoring tool, but found it too limited in function. Therefore I went down the 
    road of working on a completely new form in Visual Studio 2013 (I assume I cannot modify the existing Incident form in VStudio otherwise that would probably make my job alot easier). I have completed the UI of the form, and imported it into the authoring tool
    to add some functions not present in VStudio (like list picker, etc.). I also created a new work item, pointed it to my custom assembly, and bundled up my files as a management pack bundle. I imported it into SCSM and successfully created
    a custom view and implemented the form. Now I have to go back to the authoring tool and focus on binding the textboxes and controls to actual data… here I kind of am lost. How do I go about doing this? I know I have to point the textbox for example a location
    on where to pull the data from, but where AM I pulling that data from anyways? For example, the status, the title, etc. These must all be bound to some data object somewhere in the CMDB but thats as far as I know. Any guidance, pointers, tips, even links to
    documentation I can read would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

    This might as well be a blog as I clearly love answering my own questions all the time... :)
    So it seems the authoring tool is just poorly designed and does not allow one to pick from properties already defined to that class on an EXISTING control (e.g. If you create your form in VStudio like I did and go into Authoring Tool hoping to create the
    appropriate properties and then map them to those controls like textboxes or listpickers, you can't do that.) Instead, create the form without ANY of the controls on it, so just the grids, background, and frame of the page. Then go into Authoring Tool and
    create the properties in the class definition. Then, when you author the form you can DRAG OUT the properties, e.g. ID, Affected User, Status, etc. Automatically mapping the right control to the data type (e.g. it will drag out a textbox for a property that
    is defined as a string), and does all the binding for you. That's it!
    If you were curious as to what the actual syntax was incase you want to manually edit the XML, it would be a line containing something like this:
    <PropertyBindingChange Property="Text" Object="TextBox_1"><NewBinding UpdateSourceTrigger="Default" BindsDirectlyToSource="False" Mode="Default" Path="Id" Enabled="True"/></PropertyBindingChange>

    I just purchased and setup Contribute on my Mac (I have OSX
    10.4x). I HATE Microsoft Explorer and want to use Mozilla Firefox
    as my browser. Try as I might, I can find no place to set the
    default browser and the only browser that pops up in Preview is
    Explorer. How do I solve this annoying problem?

    Hi ,
    Try changing the default browser in your File editors;
    Edit -> Preferences ->File Editors , Slect Web Page
    Source and add Firefox
    in the editors. make this the primary editor.
    Save the setting and relaunch Contribute.
