Contribute CS3 Freezes in Windows

We recently purchased a 10-user license for Contribute CS3
and have had no luck getting it to work. It runs very slowly on our
Windows XP computers. All of our computers are fairly new with at
least 1 GB of RAM and plenty of space. After taking several minutes
to download a page to be edited, it then freezes up completely when
you try to publish. I cannot unfreeze it without CTRL-ALT-DEL, and
then it leaves alot of junk in the Draft Console, as if there were
alot of files edited. I have uninstalled and re-installed, and even
rebuilt the user keys, but no luck. Any ideas as to what is causing
the problem? I have never had such poor performance from Contribute
before, and I have been using it since version 1.0. I also
currently have several users who have versions 3 or 4 and are not
having this problem. Any ideas as to where to go from here would be
appreciated.

I installed the entire CS3 and CS4 suites in Win7 but I only briefly tested them. Everything started up okay. As with Vista 64 it's vital that you accept the default installation path and even more important to remember that you'll be on your own as far as support.

  • Contribute CS3 Hang in Windows

Contribute CS3, running Windows XP, I have this on two separate installations.  Website admin info is properly configured.  I always have to do the "Connect" option, yet on other machines I go directly to "Edit page".  Machines are running on a local Windows 2000 Domain server, but only for a file sharing server.  Logon as administrator or user has no effect on the problem.
When I hit CONNECT, I often get a complete hang that never clears.  Contribue.exe will go to 50% CPU and stay there, it never goes to "Not Responding".  Almost 100% of the time this will occur.  Uninstall/reinstall has not effect, and again, I just configured an entirely new Win XP install and a fresh CS3 install and have the same problem.
There was another thread that talked about this on the Mac and linked to a forum article that no longer exists.  Would appreciate any ideas or help with this.

  • CS3 freezes at Adobe Design Suite window upon loading

All of a sudden on both my macs running OSX 10.7.5, I can't load any of my CS3 programs. My computer keeps freezing on the window titled "Adobe Design Suite Standard CS3". The window below is blank and the only active button is the yellow one, not the red or green. I have tried restarting several times to no avail. Anybody know what is happening? Should I try reinstalling the entire suite on both my computers? Thanks for any assistance.

    Hi KJess,
Did you install any new updates that might have caused this? When was the last time that it was working fine?
Try launching the app in Mac's safe mode and check.
Are you not able to launch any of the application from the Design standard Suite?
In case you still face issues consider removing the program and reloading it,

  • CS3 freezes

Photoshop CS3 freezes after making an adjustment layer using levels. A description of where the picture is located on the computer (usually only seen as a mouse over) appears and is also frozen. I am unable to save the file and have to end the program and lose everything if it is not already saved. I have Windows XP with service Pack III. I do not have this problem with CS2. I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks so much.

Try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.ef4a07f/1
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • CS3 freezes when started on Mavericks

CS3 freezes when started on newly installed Mavericks (from 10.8).  Last files are displayed and Regster window appears and then freezes up.  Necessary to Force Quit to get out.  I've "successfully" re-installed CS3 several times but the problem continues.  What gives?

  • Uploading Captivate 4 using Contribute CS3

    Hello.
We are trying to upload a published Captivate 4 project to the web server using Adobe Contribute CS3.
When we use Contribute, the links in the swf open in the current window or not at all, even though the settings inside the swf indicate to open in a new window.
When we use an ftp program (WS_FTP), everything works in the swf as intended.
Of course, the company won't let us upload to the web server without using Contribute :/
Do you know why Contribute is not "seeing" the links and their specifications from the Captivate swf?
I couldn't find anything relevant on the web addressing this situation.
    Thank you!

    Hi there
You might have better luck posting this question on the Contribute forum.
Click here to visit the Contribute forum
Perhaps someone there has been down this road already and can advise you on how to manipulate Contribute to allow the Captivate SWF to operate as you want.
    Cheers... Rick

    Hi,
Can I know how you create links in the swf file? Because, I created a simple swf file in Captivate having a button, and linked it to a web page. I set the link to open in a new window. I inserted this swf file in one of the web pages and published. The links worked fine for me. When I click the button, the web page linked to it opened in a new window.

  • Contribute CS3 embeds the contents of SSI Includes into page after Edit and Publish

I have tried every possible way to figure this out but it
seems as though no one has this problem or a solution...
My Dreamweaver CS3 Template based files that have SSI
Includes placed in a "non-editable region" of a template and/or
nested templates are continually embedded, merged, or hard-coded (I
used those keywords for anyone else who might be searching for help
on this frustrating issue) into the page after it has been edited
and published with Contribute CS3 for Windows.
After many, many, hours and days rebuilding templates
(thinking that it was my code), experimenting with .htaccess
include_path variables, and cursing this application, I have come
to one conclusion - if I put my includes within "editable regions"
in the templates or the template based pages, edit and publish the
page with Contribute - then the page is saved normally, with the
includes intact and not embedded within the page. This is of course
    not necessarily desirable!
I have tried using various types of include directives like:
    <?php include('footer.inc'); ?>
    <?php require('footer.inc'); ?>
    <?php virtual(footer.php'); ?>
    <!--#include file="footer.inc"-->
    <!--#include virtual="footer.inc"-->
All Includes are merged into the template-based page after
the page has been edited and published with Contribute - if they
    are in "non-editable regions"!
Please, someone point me in the right direction - if it's
calling Adobe's Help line, or posting the files or whatever. I
can't finish this project and hand off to the client until this is
    resolved.

    Hi,
I'd be reall interested to know if you got anywhere with this as I'm having the same problem.
The article referenced further down this thread is no longer available either.
Any suggestions or advice on this issue would be much appreciated.

  • Contribute CS3 tutorial

Hello. Everytime I push "Contribute Tutorial" in either the
Help menu bar item or on the Contribute start page, my Contribute
application crashes. Does anyone know if the tutorial is posted
online anywhere, or if this is a known issue, or how to resolve it?
I'm using Contribute CS3 Master Suite with Windows XP Professional.
    Thanks

I would suggest reinstall the app. I do not know why it
crashes, but reinstalling might help when something got messed up
    in the program.

  • Remove Contribute CS3 toolbar in MS Office?

Is there a way to remove the Contribute toolbar from the MS
Office applications? I know it was possible in version 4 but I
    don't see it in CS3 (4.1).
    Any help would be appreciated.

To remove the Contribute plug ins - you will need to close
both Contribute and MS Office applications. Then navigate to
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Contribute CS3 and rename the
following file from officeplugin.dll to officeplugin.dllOLD. When
you relaunch Word, Excel or Outlook - the Contribute toolbar should
    be removed.
If you choose to add the toolbar again in the future, you
just need to remove the OLD from the file name. Then bring up the
command.exe window and browse to the program's directory C:\Program
Files\Adobe\Adobe Contribute CS3\ and then run the following
    command: regsvr32 officeplugin.dll
This will re-register the .dll file responsible for the
    toolbar.
