Contribute CS3 Login Issue

I can not log into my Contribute CS3 however I have the correct password and username. How can I fix this issue so I can get logged in?

I thought I would post my own solution just in case someone
else might experience the same. It is most likely I inadvertantly
posted an out of date Application.cfc or login.cfm file that
referenced a data source no longer in use. Once these files and the
datasource were reconciled, all went well. Such a "simple" thing
that took a good day to resolve.

  • Contribute CS3 Requires Startup Password

I administer 30 or more websites. Have been working with
Contribute since version 2. Never required that I type in a
password to open up the program. Yesterday when I installed
Contribute CS3, and opened it up, it required a startup password. I
have no idea what it wants as I have never set a password. The
program is now unusable to me.
I sat on the phone for 6 1/2 hours yesterday with Adobe
support waiting for someone to come on to help with this issue. My
phone battery finally quit. Have also sent out a request for help
    on this issue. No response.
I am getting a bit desperate as people are depending on me...
does anyone have a solution to this?

Make sure it says "Enter Password, please enter your
Contribute startup password try the following" If this is not the
prompt you get, other prompts could be asking for CPS or your FTP
login, so make sure the prompt is what you are getting before going
any further into this registry fix. If you are not a local
administrator on your computer you may not be able to make this
    fix.
    1. From the Run command, type in regedit to bring up the
    Registry
    2. Drill into the HKEY_CURRENT_USER >SOFTWARE
    >Contribute 4.1> Security Preferences.
    3. Now select this folder and go to File> Export > and
name this file something like backupsecuritypref.reg
    4. Once the export is done, right click on the Security
Preferences, check Permissions, make sure your user name is part of
the security group. Highlight your user name and then verify that
you have Full Control to the folder.
    5. Now double click on the blue key Always Prompt for
StUpPWD, you'll see a value name Always Prompt for StUpPWD. Toggle
the Base set to Decimal from Hexadecimal, and change the value data
from 1 to 0 with the.
    6. Go to the next blue key, Require PWD, and do the same
thing. Toggle the Base set to Decimal from Hexadecimal, and change
the value data from 1 to 0.
    7. Try to open Contribute again, if it is not opening, try to
import the backup file backupsecuritypref.reg via the
    registry.

  • Adobe Contribute CS3 Connection Error

I am trying to use Adobe Contribute CS3 Version 3.1 to connect our web server.  I can use WS_FTP and WinSCP to connect to it fine.  Our web server is running under CentOS 5.x.  When I try to connect using the connection wizard in Contribute, I receving the following error:
Contribute cannot verify your connection information.
    /tmp
Please  contact your administrator for assistance.
I have tried both FTP and SFTP.  Again, I can login, navigate to /tmp and upload, download, and delete files fine using WinSCP.  Can someone let me know what Contribute is trying to do to verify the connection?  Is there a log file?  Any help is appreciated.

When I first tried to connect to our web server, I received a similar error.  What worked for me was getting rid of the folder designation when trying to connect in Contribute (in your case /tmp) and allowing users to have permissions to access all folders on the web server.  I create Contribute roles to limit the users to specific folders.
    I hope that helps.

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 with Contribute CS3

    Good Afternoon,
I have Adobe CS3 Web Premium edition, but a colleague located
interstate is using DreamWeaver MX 2004. I would like him to design
a dreamweaver template for use in Contribute CS3. Are there any
known compatibility issues with doing this, or any DreamWeaver CS3
features that we would maybe miss out on?
    Thanks in advance!

I don't think this would be a problem, since you can
administer the site from within Contribute. The template souirce
code hasn't changed, so Contribute will find the templates and the
    editable regions.
You could always decide to turn of the compatiblity in
dreamweaver if there are problems with the cheking in and out
    system.

  • Copy/Paste images into Contribute CS3

We have been copying and pasting images from Word Documents
in Office 2003 into Contribute CS3 at my organization when
developing content. We have been able to copy/paste images from
Office 2003 and other programs like Paintshop Pro and SnagIt.
Since upgrade to Microsoft Office 2007 all image copying and
    pasting has stopped working.
Is there a known issue with this?
Does anyone else have Office 2007 installed and is able to
copy/paste images from a Word Document into a page in Contribute
    CS3?

It appears that the problem only occurs if you are copy and
pasting from something that hasn't been saved yet.
In Word I inserted an image from my hard drive and tried to
copy/paste it into Contribute and that failed. I then saved the
Word Document to my hard drive, re-opened it and was able to
    copy/paste fine.
Power Point, Snagit and Pain Shop Pro appear to have the
problem even if it's been saved first.
I was able to copy/paste an image from a Word Doc and
PowerPoint into MSPaint just fine. I was also able to copy/paste
between Office applications with out any problem. Snagit could
copy/paste into Office just fine and MSPaint.
This problem appears to be specific to Contribute CS3 but
    only from certain sources.

  • I want MACROMEDIA Contribute CS3

I bought for my client a copy of Contribute CS3. He's
currently using Macromedia Contribute 3, one month demo. He likes
it, so I want to make it official. It's a small package for a small
nice programm (30MB in size). When I ordered Adobe Contribute CS3
the package was 300MB!!! What is happening ??
So I installed Adobe Contribute CS3 on his system, which took
a lot of time 45min. or so. But after the install I got Adobe
Bridge CS3 WHY?, Adobe Assets WHY?, Adobe Scripting WHY?, Adobe
version cue WHY? etc. etc. etc.
Why o why do I need a program like mDNSResponder.exe only
    needed for I-tunes.!!!!
    I DON'T need those ADOBE PAYLOADS. I only need what\ I bought
for and that is Adobe Contribute CS3. Please GIVE me a CLEAN
INSTALL. Where is the good old support of Macromedia.!!!! Even
UNINSTALL CS3 took half an hour.
There is NO option to only install Contribute CS3. It's ALL
    or NOTHING
    It's realy a BAD Adobe experience !!!!!!

  • Contribute CS3 not working with Leopard

    Hi,
Ever since I loaded Lopard onto my Mac - Contribute won't
connect to any of my websites.
Says it can't connect 'because the server is down or not
    accepting connections.'
Is anyone else having this issue - and does anyone know the
    cure?
    I've re-installed - but still won't work.
    Thanks,
    - Greg

This issue has been reported couple of time in this thread, i
was able to get the site info twice from the users and for one site
it was not connecting from the Tiger itself because of the site
issue and for the next one it was working from the 3 leopard test
    machines we tried.
We have tested Contribute CS3 on Leopard and it works fine.
In case if the user is hitting any issue then it is important to
reproduce it then only we nail it down.
I do understand that you may not like to give the information
and for that only the second option is:
    1. One test folder inside the site
    2. One test role and a test user under the same role
    3. Provide the access to the user only to that folder by
administering the site -> Select the role->Edit Role
settings->Folder File Access->Only allow editing within these
folders -> Add the test folder in the list
In this case i will be having the access to only one
particular folder which you can very well delete later on.

  • Need to re-download Contribute CS3

I have Contribute CS3 installed on an old computer that is no longer connected to the internet. I still have one client using this software and I need to connect using Contribute to help her with the issue. When I look at my account it does not include the older software such as this. I need to download, install and register it so I can assist my client. I have the CS3 Contribute serial number.
I have also noticed that now that I am in the CC subscription I appear to be logged out of my other older Adobe products.

    Hi,
    Greetings from Adobe.
Please email your details to [email protected] to get the links to download Contribute CS3.

  • Need help installing Contribute CS3

I'm stuck on reinstalling my Contribute CS3. I've clicked on Local/Network on the question " How do you connect to your web server?" in the connection wizard part of the installation process and have no idea how to answer the next question they ask which is "What is the network path to your web site?" Can anyone help me on this

I unfortunately can't talk you through the process step by step.. I don't have the same version you're using and cannot reinstall english CS3, nor do I know where exactly in the whole process you're at now. I suppose the install of Contribute CS3 finished and you're now faced with having to create a new connection.
In order to do so, you prolly have to chose Edit > My Connections (exact names might be a bit off, I am using a German version) from Contributes main menu, then click "New.."
Where you went the wrong way the last time was by selecting "I am connecting to my website via... Local/Network". Choose "FTP" instead.
You'll need your FTP login data, if you didn't write that down, you need to ask your hosting company to send it to you.
You're looking for the following pieces of information:
FTP host name - usually looks kinda like this: ftp.mysite.com
    FTP user name
    FTP password
perhaps ftp folder - thats the folder where your "start page" is located, most times this can be left blank however.
If your site was protected with an Administrator password, you'll need that as well. Chances are your hosting company doesn't know it - it was set by whomever created the homepage and first enabled it for use with Contribute.
Adobe Support might be able to talk you through the setup process on the phone, but in order for them to do so, you'll need to have the above info at hand before you call them.
Is it possible that somebody setup your homepage for you and was sending you a Contribute connection keyfile? That would explain why you never had to go through these steps before. If that's the case, it might be easier to ask that person for another copy of the connection key file..

  • Contribute CS3 embeds the contents of SSI Includes into page after Edit and Publish

I have tried every possible way to figure this out but it
seems as though no one has this problem or a solution...
My Dreamweaver CS3 Template based files that have SSI
Includes placed in a "non-editable region" of a template and/or
nested templates are continually embedded, merged, or hard-coded (I
used those keywords for anyone else who might be searching for help
on this frustrating issue) into the page after it has been edited
and published with Contribute CS3 for Windows.
After many, many, hours and days rebuilding templates
(thinking that it was my code), experimenting with .htaccess
include_path variables, and cursing this application, I have come
to one conclusion - if I put my includes within "editable regions"
in the templates or the template based pages, edit and publish the
page with Contribute - then the page is saved normally, with the
includes intact and not embedded within the page. This is of course
    not necessarily desirable!
I have tried using various types of include directives like:
    <?php include('footer.inc'); ?>
    <?php require('footer.inc'); ?>
    <?php virtual(footer.php'); ?>
    <!--#include file="footer.inc"-->
    <!--#include virtual="footer.inc"-->
All Includes are merged into the template-based page after
the page has been edited and published with Contribute - if they
    are in "non-editable regions"!
Please, someone point me in the right direction - if it's
calling Adobe's Help line, or posting the files or whatever. I
can't finish this project and hand off to the client until this is
    resolved.
    Andrew

    Hi,
I'd be reall interested to know if you got anywhere with this as I'm having the same problem.
The article referenced further down this thread is no longer available either.
Any suggestions or advice on this issue would be much appreciated.

  • Contribute CS3 not working

    Hi everyone!
I've been trying to set up Contribute CS3 demo on my computer

    of this.
Everytime I try to open ContributeCS3, an error message
saying "Contribute was unable to go to the web adress you

What web adress? I didn't even start using it!!!
    Can you help me?

  • Contribute CS3 having problem with liquid layout

Heya everyone! I'm hoping that someone can help me here. I'm
trying to make the leap to having layouts done in CSS and not with
    tables.
Please don't blame me for the design on this one - I didn't
    do it! ;)
I'm having different issues in two different versions of
    contribute.
Older versions of contribute won't allow me to edit the text.
I'm guessing it has something to do with the padding on my left and
right columns that I had to use in order to get my three column
layout. Getting rid of that means totally rethinking how I did my
three column liquid layout to begin with, which isn't my favorite
    option.
Contribute CS3 WILL let me edit the text in the center
    column. HOORAY!
HOWEVER! I can edit it for a little while, but if I start
typing too fast or click it the wrong way the entire DIV reshapes
itself and is suddenly 10px wide! How bizarre.
What can I do to make this editable in Contribute? Does
anyone have a fix to that this is either editable by my client
(this has to go LIVE to beta on Monday!) OR does someone have a
three column liquid layout that DOES work in contribute cs3?
    Thanks so much!!!
    check it out here: www.cssdd.org/index.html

you can see the layout in question at www.cssdd.org - sorry
    for not including it.

  • Contribute CS3 Edit Mode strips away CSS

Looks as if many people are having this issue with no real aswer provided asside from 'Employees' sending private messages to users.
Currently have pages that render fine in a regurlar browser as well as the CS3 Contribute Browser, however when going to edit the page it simply does not render the page with any off the CSS styles applied.
    Dreamweaver CS5
    Contribute CS3 (our user base)
    Page
calls via SSI a (.shtml) file which containes all calls to css style sheets (non @import)
Help with this issue would be greatly appreciate.
    Thank you

Any employees want to shine in on how to resolve this issue?  Is the only solution to include all css style sheet calls from page itself and not the includes? any way around this?

  • Contribute CS3 Client breaks the server XML

Well, I have found an interesting problem with the cthub XML
file that is stored in the "_mm" directory in the root folder of
your websites being administered by Contribute.
As you are no doubt aware, when at least one admin upgrades
to Contribute 4 or Contribute CS3 (aka 4.1) all the admins have to
since there are upgrades made to the XML files that control the
site. Well it appears that this upgrade makes the cthub file
    non-valid XML.
Take a look at this file and look for the tag "font_use_css"
inside the "group_list_item" child node of the "group_list" node.
In a copy of the cthub file that was upgraded you will find that
this standalone tag is missing the appropriate closing slash. If
you compare this against a copy of the cthub file from before the
upgrade, assuming you made a backup, you will find that the tag is
    properly closed.
Since this file is the master file with all of the role
information for the site, I wonder if this XML error is causing
unknown instability in the system somewhere.

I'm having the very same issue. Very frustrating. Support had me uninstall and reinstall. That did not wor
k, Then they had me uninstall and reinstall as a trial. That did not work. Very umimpressed with Adobe
    products and support.
Anyone have a solution to this issue. I'm at the end of my rope.

  • Contribute CS3 tutorial

Hello. Everytime I push "Contribute Tutorial" in either the
Help menu bar item or on the Contribute start page, my Contribute
application crashes. Does anyone know if the tutorial is posted
online anywhere, or if this is a known issue, or how to resolve it?
I'm using Contribute CS3 Master Suite with Windows XP Professional.
    Thanks

I would suggest reinstall the app. I do not know why it
crashes, but reinstalling might help when something got messed up
    in the program.
