Contribute CS4 and Dreamweaver CS3

Downloaded the Contribute CS4 trial today. All in all, it was
a disaster. Now I cannot upload files from my dreamweaver site at
all. Is Contribute CS4 compatible with dreamweaver CS3?
How do I remove the files created by the contribute install?
Thanks,
Annette

1. start Contribute
2. main menu >Edit>Administer Websites>Choose
website
3. choose Administration from the list on the left
4. click the button 'Remove Administration'

  • Contribute CS4 with Dreamweaver CS3

I have a number of sites created with Dreamweaver CS3, and
intend to provide update access with Contribute - but Contribute
CS3 is now hard to get hold of. Will these sites work with
Contribute CS4 if developed with DW CS3: general functions such as
editable sections, checkin/checkout. I don't want to upgrade my
    systems yet to CS4.
CS4 suite has much higher system requirement than CS3 - which
probably means a hardware upgrade first - so want to avoid this.
Can't find any info on this anywhere.
    Thanks

I just read on the adobe website that:
    "Contribute CS4 works with Adobe Dreamweaver® CS4
    templates"
Does that mean it wont work with Dreamweaver CS3 templates?

  • Contribute cs4 and dreaweaver cs3

    i use dreamweaver cs3.
my client want to change his website with contribute cs4. Is this possible??

Information available from Adobe gives instructions on setting Compatibility to Transition Mode. However, we encountered numerous problems. Adobe is now using "Work Flows" which cause heartburn to CS3 users. In addition, the send for review process has changed drastically, because of these Work Flows. Why this was done is mind boggling. It appears that whoever built CS4 has never used Contribute. There is very little information available on the Adobe Web site and even less customer support.
We have opted not to support it at this time and have asked users to download CS3.

  • Unable to Uninstall Photoshop CS4 and Dreamweaver CS4

it's been a couple of days since i tried out Photoshop CS4 and Dreamweaver CS4 to see how they compare to the CS3 versions, it worked fine and all till suddenly it stopped working, so i been trying to uninstall/reinstall to get it working under the free trial limit i still have left (27 days as of this writing) it still will not work.
Sometimes i would install Photoshop/Dreamweaver and say an error occurred and some components were unable to install and would be unable to load the file even after doing what the instructions say...
Same goes for when i try to uninstall both Photoshop/Dreamweaver, i would try to uninstall and would still remain in my program files...
I am completely stumped on what to do, i can't even re-install photoshop/dreamweaver cs3 as well due to this...
I am running on Vista 32bit SP1 Pack on HP Pavilion, i want to completely get rid of CS4 versions and go back to my reliable CS3 again, any help please would be greatly appreciated.

John... if you read what I said you would of caught that i did do it:
"did what was suggested, worked like a charm for the CS3 and Dreamweaver CS4 but although it did work on Photoshop CS4. it did something i was dumbfounded to see, it did something odd in which it took out the Uninstall/Change tab option for removing programs (I was viewing it to see if it uninstalled completely) also it brought out a bunch of programs that weren't in that section before and was unable to uninstall/remove them.
So i had to do a system restore point to go back and try again. After doing it two more times (ya two!) still doesn't work, i am 7 hours into trying to resolve this... sigh. "
At that time i said i had done it 2 times, 3 in total, i am on try #6 all with the same results with the exact after effects once i restart my PC.
Here's what it does to tell what goes on:
    1) after installing microsoft's cleaner then opening up the cs4 cleaner under admin, it does its thing, it asks me if i wish to remove Flash Player 10 after choosing remove Photoshop CS4, now here i done both remove Flash Player and not remove it with the same results, losing the uninstall/change option on the control panel, which frustrates me.
    2) After seeing that i try to install Photoshop CS4 again, once its done, i open it up, try to go to the trial option where as i stated previously says there's an error and can't open the trial page which would open up Photoshop completely but since it can't i cannot go beyond that window.
    3) So ya... i try ONCE again to do it all over after restarting and SAMETHING! no uninstall/change option appearing and unable to open up Photoshop CS4 in which i resort to doing a system restore again and trying once more.
NOW, one would think that after the first 3 times it should be working properly, i mean I thought it would after removing both Photoshop CS3 and Dreamweaver CS4 it's bound to do the same for Photoshop CS4, but it doesn't completely create a "FREASH" install. It's like it still remembers what messed up functions it still had and what's up with it removing the uninstall/change option? that just bogles my mind.
i tried many things, re-downloading the trial from adobe, etc i never would of thought just one program could cost me so much wasted time just to get it working and it's a free trial nonetheless so excuse me John Joslin if your remark kind of bugs me, I need some assistance/advice on trying to correct this problem, not a
    "It should have done!
Run it a few times. "
comment that's already common knowledge for me in what I have already been doing long before your post.

  • Can I upgrade from CS2 to CS4 and skip CS3?

Can I upgrade from CS2 to CS4 and skip CS3? It would save me time.

    Colin,
    >But I did exactly what everyone on here said they did, went onto adobe.com to do our research, saw that the upgrade works from CS2-CS4
Adobe shows there are multiple versions of the suites on their site and clearly points the way for purchasing at the Adobe Store. Just for the heck of it, I also went to MacMall.com and MacConnection.com, two well-known online resellers. I checked their Adobe CS4 upgrades, and they clearly indicate which older versions they are meant to go with. Not quite so clear from MacZone.com and a few other reseller sites I visited.
    >I am an IT person for a printing company, and as such I spent hours upon hours preparing for this transition.
It took me just a few minutes to find the correct version I needed.
    >no one can tell the difference, and most vendors don't know it exists. We could help you, but you didn't buy it from us."
Maybe the reseller you bought from is just sloppy and didn't mark the SKUs properly. But how is this Adobe's fault -- particularly when other vendors can and DO get it right?
Also as both Mac and Win upgrades are pretty much determined and marketed the same way, what does this sloppiness have to do with Mac market share?
But that said, there is enough good information on the Adobe site that should trigger some questions if you as the IT guy have any doubts and are responsible for buying for your company. At the least, doesn't it make sense to call Adobe and ask which SKUs you should buy? It could've saved hours of research time.
If you truly did your research and purchasing carefully and were still fooled, I suggest you start with a complaint to the reseller who sold you the goods.

  • Contribute CS4 and CS3 user compatibility

I recently had my school purchase 30 copies of CS3 witch I
manage their connections. I have no plans to upgrade to CS4 yet but
if one of my teachers purchases a copy they may only have the
option to buy Contribute CS4. Will this be a problem as far as my
ability to administer their connection and will this be a problem
for other CS3 users if I decide to upgrade. Will I need to go out
and purchase 30 more upgrades? I can't seem to find anything in the
tech docs yet and I am trying to be prepared for the
    problems.

    > one with CS4 and
    > the other with CS3, work on the same documents?
Yes, for the most part. Some things have changed, for example
    the markup
used when Flash is inserted, but as long as you aren't doing
    things like
that, you will be quite safe.

  • CourseBuilder and Dreamweaver CS3

I got a new PC with Dreamweaver CS3 and had Dreamweaver MX 04
with courseBuilder Interactions. Are CourseBuilder Interactions for
    CS3 available. Anyone have Info?
    thanks
    bob

Where did you find CourseBuilder for CS3? The latest version I can find is for DW8. I have DreamWeaver CS4 and really want to use coursebuilder. I can get CourseBuilder for CS4 but it requires an "upgrade" to the eLearning suite. I presently the Adobe Web Premium CS4 suite. It would be very hard to justify buying the eLearning suite just to get CourseBuilder and the SCORM packager. (The SCORM packager is available for free download anyway.)
I guess I wonder if CourseBuilder for CS3 would work with CS4 and if it's significantly different than the CourseBuilder for DW8 version.

  • Contribute CS4 and CS5 file transfer (publish) problem on Windows 7 64 bit

Have a problem with Contribute CS5 and CS4  on Windows 7 64 bit where upon editing a webiste for example to add a new page (or edit an existing one) and then clicking on "publish" a blank page appears on the website. To explain this further, If i make the required changes to the page and select the option to publish the file later then the file wirtten to the PC appears to be ok and has all the changes, but as soon as I publish it, only a blank page appears on the web server.  ie the upload (ftp) process does happen but the content of the page is being stripped out somewhere during the filt transfer process.
I have editied the same site with CS4 on windows XP without any problems.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated
    Thank you
    Chris

I seem to have solved the issue by downloading this install file
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.2/enu/AdbeRdr920_en_US.exe
    which installs successfully.

  • Contribute 3 and Dreamweaver 8 Connection Issues

    Hello,
I'm having issues finalizing my site definition at the
    "Contribute" stage in Dreamweaver.
When I test the connection from Dreamweaver's "Remote Info"
stage, Dreamweaver successfully connects to the main directory: "
    http://domain.edu" (domain.edu), where
I upload files to the main site (not connected to Contribute), but
I want to connect contribute to a mini site in a subdirectory of
    the main site - "
    http://domain.edu/folder/folder".
I'm stuck at the point where I click "Administer Site in
Contribute" in the "Site Definition" dialog box. This is the first
time I've set up a site in Dreamweaver with Contribute
compatibility and a remote connection, so I have not run into this
    before.
Everything was going fine until the "Contribute" panel.
The Site root URL in the dialog box originally pointed to the
index file of the existing mini site sitting on the server: "
    http://domain.edu/folder/folder/index.htm".
When I click the "Test" button, I keep getting the error
    message:
"Dreamweaver could not connect to the remote server... Please
fix the remote connection before continuing"
So, I changed the Site root URL to point to the root folder
    of the mini site:"
    http://domain.edu/folder/folder/index.htm"
Then I got this error message:
"Dreamweaver could not find a page at the specified site root
    URL"
I changed it back to the original URL and went back to the
"Remote Info" dialog. I thought that maybe the problem was that I
was supposed to change the host directory to "domain/folder/folder"
(from "domain") to reflect the exact folder that the mini site was
stored in, but when I did, I got an access denied error.
I am at a complete loss, please help...
    I am using:
    Dreamweaver 8
    Contribute 3
    Windows XP
Has anyone gotten an answer to this problem? I have seen many
threads in both the Dreamweaver and Contribute forums, but nothing
looked like a solution or explanation of why this occurs. Please
Help. I would like to use this tool throughout our college
campuses, but I am loosing faith in this product. I know that If
I'm having trouble, novice users will completely reject this
    technology...

    OK, Now I'm REALLY confused
I gave up on trying to connect Contribute to my website
through Dreamweaver. I figured I'd go back to Contribute and see if
I could get the connection directly from Contribute. Somehow, It
worked. I think I went to Edit > My Connections > Create...
    > and entered my FTP information and it worked! I still cannot
    connect through DW however.
So far, this has allowed me to continue with setting up this
site with Contribute. I'm still really confused as to what the
problem is with Dreamweaver and Contribute working together.
I'm going to go back and make sure that I can repeat whatever
I did to get it working. The only thing worse than not being able
to get something to work is stumbling upon the solution and not
    knowing how you did it

  • Dreamweaver CS4 and PS CS3

I installed Dreamweaver CS4 yesterday and this morning I opened Photoshop CS3 to work on some files and PS is not working correctly, when selecting tools such as the brush, majic wand, or move tool all I get is the hand tool.  I can still access layers, levels, and other adjustments just fine.  Is there a conflict going on between DW 4 and PS 3?

There shouldn't be any conflict between different versions of the applications.  What OS are you running and have you installed the latest patches for the programs?

  • Page Numbering w/ASP and Dreamweaver CS3

I am new to this so please bear with me if this question has been asked a million times. I have a single search parameter searching for a "Department", the result displays on the next page (The Results page). This works fine. I am using DW CS3 and I am now finding out that when I use it with ASP it only allows the Previous, Next, First, Last, Specific records to be displayed.
I really want it to display the total amount of pages by numbers Example: (1-10, 11-21, etc...). Can someone please help me? I have searched the web and came across this site http://www.dmxzone.com/go?12449. I am not following where to put the code he suggest. Can someone please help me?

Please ignore my first post, it isn't right.
I am new at this, although I did figure out the tutorial it still isn't what I am wanting. I am going to send an example page of want I my page to look like when I said page numbering  (I don't want first, prev, next, or last). I want numbers like the results you will get from this page. http://www.gcfa.org/Department_Resources.aspx Can I do this with ASP?
If so so can someone please show me how? Thanks in advance. Maybe I have the right question this time.

  • Fireworks CS3  and Dreamweaver CS3 (Menu problems)

I am trying to develop buttons in fireworks, import them into Dreamweaver, but for some reason it it cause my menu at the top of the page to expand outward. Take a look here. http://www.gcfa.org/episcopal-revision.html Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

I figured it out. It was really stupid and to tell you the truth I am not sure what happened. But I fixed it by taken out all of the menu and redoing it.Weird huh! Thanks anyway.

  • Mac OS X and Dreamweaver CS3 Synchronization Problem

Demaweaver does not try to synchronize files located in
    expanded subdirectories:
    - try to change and then list (click rectangle to expand)
    files from one of subdirectories
collapse directory where this subdirectory is located
    - try to synchronize collapsed directory
    - does not work! (dreamweaver doe not try to put changed
    files - check ftp log)
My solution: collapse site with 'alt' key before synchronize
    (selecting newer local ...).

Okay, now I got tuned sound to the other ear too... but I had to put the balance  almost all to the left... and at the same time the max volume is reduced quite a lot even though I put the input volume to Max on system preferences.

  • Recently I purchased CS4 Web Design can I deactivated my old Photo. CS4 and Illust. CS3 to sell/gift

I have a full version of CS4 Web Design Premium, now my old Photoshop CS4 and Illustrator CS3 are redundant.  Can I either sell these or give as a gift to my girlfriend's nephew - they have been deactivated and removed from my computer (macbook pro).
Thanks for your insight and help!

You may sell or otherwise transfer the individual Photoshop and Illustrator products unless (1) one or the other was used as the basis to do an upgrade to the suite itself or (2) those products were student or academic versions or part of a bulk commercial license.
Make sure you transfer registration of the software using the forms available from Adobe's website.
