Contribute CS4 Install error - ccmenu.xml

Hi,
Trying to get Contribute CS4 installed for a user here at Notre Dame. It keeps telling us that:
"Contribute encountered problems while constructing the menus from the current ccmenus.xml file.
Please delete the current ccmenus.xml file and rename menus.bak to ccmenus.xml."
We do this, and that same error comes up every time. We uninstall and reinstall and that error comes up every time.
Anyone seen this?
The machine is a new iMac running Mac OS X 10.6.2. It does not have any CS3 products installed just CS4.
thanks,
bart loeb, notre dame

Seems like an issue with media files, some of the content might be missing. Try to download CS4 from the below website but make sure to follow the "Very Important Instructions", mentioned on that website, carefully before downloading it.

  • CS4 Install error

    Hi,
I hope someone can help with this.
I have a CS4 Design Std installation (which has been used in the past before fine). It is a zipped folder and all files have been extracted to a folder on the users C: drive.
The OS is Windows 7 x64 SP1 and when we run the setup.exe from the extracted files on the local disc it fails halfway through asking for disk 1 to be inserted.
I tweeted this to Adobe support and they suggested removing the media tags (and everything inbetween) from the setup.xml in the payload folder.
Ran the install again, rebooted and we now get the error : "Some of the application components are missing from the application directory, please reinstall the application".
Can anyone please advise how to resolve this?
    Thanks

  • Photoshop CS4 install error

Hiya, I require some help with the installation of photoshop CS4 (i think it's extended edition)
    The situation:
I downloaded the InDesign trial version from the adobe website and installed it as a trial. After liking the program, i activated it.
Having had a previous experience with photoshop, i downloaded it as well and installed as a trial. This time, however it did not prompt me if I wished to enter a serial code. I went along with it.
Just recently, Photoshop got the "licence expired" error. I figured that the trial had run out, however I still could not seem to enter a serial code. Deciding to re-install (i still have the installer package) I attempted to run the uninstaller. It encountered errors, so I deleted the photoshop folders out of my program files. (both the x64 and x86 (I'm running win7x64)) Now whenever I try to run the installer package it gets most of the way through checking the system profile then displays the error message:
"Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance"
I then used a cleaner to clean all adobe programs from my computer. Now all the installers (PhotoshopCS4 and InDesignCS4) give the same error. I have tried the CS4 cleaning scripts, the lot. any suggestions? I'm not overly worried about my indesign serial, I have it backed up around here somewhere =)
    Help would be GREATLY appreciated
PS: No, I dont want to use gimp or paint.net, and I dont feel like formatting my C:\ especially as I havn't been supplied with a system restore disk

The 4.5 installer is not needed for Windows 7 so don't worry about that. Windows 7 has the latest downloader already installed.
If you downloaded CS4 (looks like you did reading your attachment) put the folder on your desktop and run the install from there. For some reason PS CS4  download does not extract well in a system folder. Putting it on the desktop avoids this.
When the folder or download is on the desk top right click on it and look at the general tab. At the bottom there might be a unblock button. Click on this button and it will on lock it. If it is not there don't worry about it. Now if you don't see the unblock there right click on the .exe file in the folder and look for the same. If not there don't worry about it.
In the folder on the desk top right click on the .exe file and choose run as Admin.
    Also:
    Remove adobe reader if installed.
Turn-off any anti-virus running. Turn off Windows defender if running (if installed).
Download and install CCleaner. Free download and it finds and removes un-wanted old files.

  • CS4 Install errors in Windows 7 - Need help!

I just got this great new ASUS G73JW laptop with windows 7 home premium on it, 8 gigs of Ram, Intel Core I7, Nvidia 480 video card.  One of my biggest reasons for getting it was to run CS4 Master Collection on it so i can work from the road.  However, each time I try installing CS4 I get the same errors about certain applications not being installed.  It comes up with an error and says "could not install the following applications" and of course all the applications it can't install are Photoshop, Flash, Premere, After Effects, etc.  Bascally none of the programs will install with the exception of Media encoder, flash player and media player.
I've gone on the interenet to find help and have tried using the clean tool to clean out the entire installation, I tried running it in different modes for Vista, and XP but everytime it comes up with the same errors.  Can anyone help with some ideas on how to install this successfully?

I'm having a similar problem. I'm trying to load CS4 Design Premium onto a Toshiba i7 running Windows 7, 4GB ram. An installation error appears about halfway through Disk 1. Photoshop, Dreamweaver, InDesign, and Illustrator will not install. Adobe Support Advisor identified the error as UninstallColorProfilesRollback and referred me to kb403891.
I was unable to follow Solution 1 because I didn't have permission to remove the files. I followed Solution 2, but was still unable to remove the files described in solution 1.
I would appreciate any possible assistance.

  • CS4 Install Error 2 (Language Pack) Resolved

I was struggling for some time to resolve this installation error (which occurred in all CS4 trial versions I attempted to install, including the CS4 Master Collection) and found posts on these forums indicating that others were having a similar issue, even after lenghty technical support calls. Having now resolved this issue I thought I'd share my resolution with you.
For reference, my setup is Windows Vista x64 with Service Pack 1 and all other updates applied.
After much trawling through the installation log file I discovered that my installation was failing because CS4 was 'unable to find the folder at token named SharedDocuments' - which I assumed meant that Windows was not directing the installer to my Shared Documents directory, into which it presumably wanted to put the language packs.
I had previously moved the Public Documents folder to a different drive (as I do with all my special user folders - it's just common sense), and found that by recreating the C:\Users\Public\Documents folder the installtion proceeded without errors. However, the installer did not actually place anything in that folder (!) and having now deleted it again my CS4 trials seem none the wiser. Adobe developers please take note: avoid hard-coding special user paths into your installers and reference the relevant Windows registry paths instead.
Thus, my recommendation for anyone else suffering from this particular installation problem is to ensure that your Public Documents folder has not been moved from %SystemDrive%\Users\Public\Documents, and if so: recreate it at the original location - at least for the duration of the installation.

I had the same LangPack error when trying to upgrade to Premier Pro CS4 from CS3. I am using Windows XP SP3 and the following worked for me:
    1. Completely deactivate any anti-virus software.
    2. Turned off Windows Firewall.
    3. Removed any CS4 remnants from previous installation attempts by running Add/Remove Programs.
    4. Deleted the Adobe Premier Pro CS4 folder under C:\Program Files that was created by previous installation attempts.
    5. Re-Ran the installation program and on the installer's Welcome screen, chose the option "I want to install and use Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 on a trial basis" instead of entering your serial number. (You can enter your serial number later, when you start Premiere Pro CS4, if installing it initially as a trial is successful.)
Using this scenario everything installed for me error free.

  • Illustrator CS4 install error: Color EU settings

    Hi everyone,
I've been trying to install Illustrator CS4 for the past few days, I have updated my DirectX and all my VGA drivers in hopes of getting it to work.
Every time I try, I end up with this error message:
    "Error:
Error 1603. Error 1714.The older version of Adobe Color EU Extra Settings CS4 cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group."
What on earth is this Adobe Color EU extra settings? Any chance I can delete them manually??
    Here are my PC specs:
    OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit
    RAM: 2GB
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+
VGA: Nvidia Asus EN7600GS 512mb (with latest drivers and DirectX 10)
Free Disk space on Install drive: 12GB
Oh well, I hope somebody here know whats going on..
    Cheers,
    Ahsu

Color Profile information installed by a previous version of Adobe programs. Check C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Color and C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color, but before dig into the install log to exactly find out what it is trying to delete. It's located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers and either ends with *.log or *.log.gz. There should be a mention of "Failure" regarding the deletion of the files in question somewhere in it.

  • CS4 Install Error - ... write privileges ... ???

During the extraction of the upgrade version of CS4 (about 95-100% completed) I got the error "A problem occurred while extracting some files. Check available space on your computer and the write privileges on the destination folder". I have 690GB free on a 750GB drive so I know space is not a problem. I'm running XP w SP3. Any ideas on how to resolve?

But is there any limitation or quota on your temp directory? Please check C:\Documents and Settings\Rudy\Local Settings\Temp. Clean out the directory if necessary and attempt another install. Also check the status of system restore, updates and the trash can. It may be advisable to clean them out, too. Unfortunately Windows has some not so smart automatisms for all this stuff and chokes on itself, so to speak, under some circumstances. A good way to cover all those aspects is the use of CCcleaner, a freely available third-party tool.

We have re-downlaoded and reburned ISO CD's several times (each time using different hardware or burning software). Each time we get this error trying to install for an evaluation.
Anyone got a solution? Seems to be a problem with the ISO from what we can tell.

Problem found - and it's a spooky one at that.
We downloaded several times from Oracle; each time using a Fedora, Apple, Windows and Red Hat workstation. They all diff the same. But only the Windows downloaded one could be opened up and the repomd.xml (or any file for that matter) read, First chill up spine goes here...
We burned ISO using fedora nautilus, gnomebaker and command line dd commands. None worked. Only the Windows downloaded ISO and the Windows burned (Nero) CD work.
    Second chill would go here...
So, for whatever insane reason. The combination of a Windows IE download and a Windows NEro CD ISO burn are the only combination that make a readable CD.
We have - for fun and becuase we love to kill time - verified this. We followed this up with a new download using Fedora workstation and the ISO CANNOT be opened.
    Totally scary stuff...

  • CS4 Install errors in Windows 7 - 'ColorProfilesRollback' issue

I have tried to install CS$ Design Premium about 8 times!  Keep getting, "error as UninstallColorProfilesRollback and referred me to kb403891".   I have tried Solution 4 times.  Does not help.  Finally clicked, "continue" installation, and it appears to have installed "with errors"; "you may not have full functionality"... message.  Can anyone help?

    Hi Jtown,
Lets go ahead and try the below suggestions and check if that helps.
Solution 1: Rename the following files:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\caps\pdb.db
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\caps\Media_db.db
Make sure you dont touch caps.db under the same folder. Now run the installer again and check.
Solution 2: Give full permissions to the below locations:
    C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\Color
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Color\Profiles
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Color\Profiles
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Color\Settings

    C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Color

    Cheers!!

  • Installing CS4 Trial Errors

I know this has been discussed ad nauseaum but after reading through message archives I still have a question or two.
Yesterday I attempted to purchase CS4 online, Adobe's store was experiencing problems and I was advised to call to make my order which I did.
The person I talked to on the phone advised me to download the trial to play with until my disk copy arrived, which I did.
During installation I got the now infamous CS4 Install error, adobe common set rgb error, error# 1603 fatal error during installation. I was given the option to comintue the installation and at the end it said there were errors but I could use it with some limitations. I clicked on the place for error details and then on the assistance button and followed all of the instructions on how to correct the error and then reinstalled. The same error came up so I went through the steps again this time running the installer as administrator, same thing. I am using Vista 64 bit.
After reinstalling 5 times with all other programs off including firewall and virus protection and following adobe's instructions to the letter the error persisted. I decided to try opening CS4 and it opened just fine, I have played with it all day and everything I have tried to do including printing works flawlessly. Of course in one day I haven't used absolutely every feature but I have used quite a few.
I wouldn't be concerned except for the fact that I will need to uninstall it in a few days and install the disk version and I'm wondering just what kind of headaches I'm going to be in for. I really don't want to use the cleaner because I would rather not have to uninstall everything else adobe, I have a lot of customizations in PSE7 than I prefer not to have to redo as well as a fully populated organizer.
Can I expect problems with the disk version?
    Tia
    Claudia

I did not uninstall, I followed Adobe's instructions to the letter including
the changes to the registry. I did not run Clean Script partly because I did
not know of it then and after I learned about it they said it uninstalls ALL
Adobe products and I do not want to do that. I have way too many things in
PSE7 to consider doing that at this time. As far as I know I have full
access to all of my directories. I do have both of my monitors calibrated so
there are profiles for them. I have no idea how to do anything about the
monitor profiles. That is probably the problem, the monitor profiles.
CS4 trial is working fine so I'm not going to mess with it until my CS4
disks arrive and I'm ready to uninstall the trial and install the registered
    version.

  • Error message at installing Contribute CS4: No Documents Types have been found

I get an error message when reinstalling Contribute CS4: No Document types have been found. The application will exit now.
    Does anyone know a solution?

Sorry, I am working on a iMac OSX Yosemite v 10.01.i. Contribute software is ofcourse older but there was no indication that reinstalling on this new computer would not work.

  • Contribute CS4 authplay.dll error on launch

Clean install of newly purchased Contribute CS4 on client system that exceeds system requirements. Upon initial launch, error RE: authplay.dll and program goes not further than initial splash screen. Can only kill the process at that point to close it.
    What is the solution?

I purchased three copies of Contribute CS4 to be installed on Win XP machines. One laptop runs without errors. The two desktop machines give the error "Contribute has encountered a problem and needs to close" and "AppName: contribute.exe        AppVer: 5.0.0.3264                ModName: authplay.dll
    ModVer: 10.0.0.521 Offset: 00205ce6".
I ran a search for authplay.dll on the troubled systems and found multiple versions; I rolled the file back to 10.0.0.508 which I found in Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Utilities/Extendscript Toolkit CS4.
This seems to have fixed the problem, at least for now. I am able to open Contribute on all machines as of this writing (however I fully expect the Adobe Updater to undo my efforts with the file in question the next time it runs).
    Hopefully this may help others.

  • Contribute CS4 not showing up during install

I'm trying to install Contribute CS4 on a PC running Windows 7.
I've had it up and running using the same installer previously, so I know that it works (I also tried downloading the files again but the same issue returned).
What's happening is, that the installer runs fine but only shows me the option of installing various smaller adobe programs - not Contribute.
I've tried uninstalling and running the cleaner tool but the issue is still there.
What can I do? I need the software for maintaining a website.
    Thanks in advance.

if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here:  http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a problem downloading, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com
