Contribute CS5 Silent Install

Has anyone succeeded in creating a silent install for Contribute CS5? I've tried both the Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Addition tool and the setup executable response file parameter referenced in CPSID_82946 and KB405451 respectively.
After generating the MSI install with the AAMEA tool, running the silent install looks likes it going to work and after 5 or 10 minutes puts most of the application in place. But then, the process backs out everything it did and provides no reason in log files other than to say that the installation failed.
Running the set-up.exe with the --record=1 parameter installs the application fine but doesn't generate either the install.xml or the uninstall.xml file that it's supposed to generate.
Adobe support says they don't provide support.
Any help would be appreciated.

We have failed in this as well, and have now given up. I am attempting all manual installs (I have over 160 users), and am not exactly happy. We had it all ready to go to deploy CS4, but got delayed and when we did it, it failed on 3 out of 4 installs. Most with different failures. So I decided to go with CS5 since it was now out and we had the licensing for it, but we couldn't get the installs to work at all over the network. Back to manual. I have customizations on the Welcome.dwt and tasks and need to ensure those are deployed as well, so we are trying manual installs, and I have to give the install to the technicians to do. Even this isn't working well. Need better directions on setting this up for mass deployment.

  • Contribute CS5 Network Install

    Hi,
I'm trying to package up Contribute CS5 to install across our network.
As per the other CS5 products I initially tried to use the XML deployment file method (as per http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/842/cpsid_84211.html#InstallSource), however there is no deployments folder on my Contribute CD, and I have been unable to locate a suitable install.xml template, even by doing a recorded install.
I have also tried using the tool here http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/enterprisedeployment.html
This works an creates a custom msi which installs fine when I run it logged into Windows. However when I run is as an installer through a group policy or startup script it won't install (all the other CS5 products will install this way fine though, weird!).
The error that the msi installer generates is 'installation sucess or error status: 1603'.
I've checked through http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/408/kb408716.html but with no progress.
Is there a way to debug the install further, or do have any idea why the same command line that is used to install withing a logged on windows session would failed during a startup script
    msiexec /i "\\server\share\contributecs5\build\contributecs4.msi" /quiet
    Thanks,
    Phil

Further to this I have isolated the problem...
When running the MSI under an normal administrator account is installs fine. However when running it either as a startup script/policy install, or via a cmd prompt running as the 'SYSTEM' account the installation fails with the error code 1603.
I have tried emptying the temp files as advised in the Adobe KB article and also, Google Deskbar/Search is not installed.
It is odd that out of all the CS5 products I'm deploying in a similar manner, only Contribute is affected.
    Has anyone got any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Phil

I'm able to install manually by accepting the license terms.  Is there a way I can install this silently so on first launch it doesn't come with any messages?
i.e. ""The Extension Manager will now launch and finish updating Dreamweaver""
All all installsare done manualyy. I have created an MSI using the Adobe Application Mangaer  Enterprise Edition which installs Dreamweaver CS5 silently but after install I notice the above which requires manual intervention.  I failed to find a way to install this silently.

Do you already have an AS running on this machine? If you're doing a reinstall, did you remove the inventory and all appropiate registry settings?

if you see an access denied page, you did not follow all the directions, re-read and re-try.

  • Silent install using the MSI and incorporating the activation

    Good Morning,
I am trying to do a silent install of contribute for SCCM 2007 using the MSI and although the install works i can't figure out how to get the activation and registration silent as well.
I have tried using admin stuido (SCCM version) and adding the registry keys but that is not working.
Does anyone have any idea how this can be done?
I appreciate any help you can give me.
    Thanks,

In case you are deploying CS5, then I would suggest you to refer the Creative Suite Enterprise Deployment Guide -
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/enterprisedeployment.html
The Deployment Guide would provide you with information on how to supress these behaviours.
The above page also has a similar guide for CS4 deployment as well and also the links to download the Adobe Deployment Toolkits.
    Hope this helps .

  • Question - Downloading Time for contribute CS5 for Mac

Yes,  I followed the steps in email to download Contribute CS5 for Mac.
It has been 1 hour.  How much time does it take. I have not typed in lisence key yet
    Thank you

It depends on the speed of your Internet connection.  The download is only the first phase you will still need to install the software.  During the installation process you will be prompted to enter your license key/serial number.

  • What silent install command line option will Adobe change to next?

I just discovered that Adobe has, yet again, changed the command line syntax for doing a silent install of the flash player. Apparently it's now just "-install" to do a silent install. Which makes me wonder, what will they call it next version?
    I have a few theories...
    install_flash_player_11.exe -fuggedaboudit
    install_flash_player_11.exe -BeVewwyBewwyQwiet
    install_flash_player_11.exe /@?-[BR-549]

    Hi Yooouk,
Please use AAMEE 2.1 to create CS5.5 package. Refer the article: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/manual-deployment-creative-suite-5.html.

  • Contribute (CS5) thinks it can't see my internet.

I looked around a bit and didn't see anyone else with the same errors. Hopefully this is just one of those issues where there's a checkbox somewhere I'm not checking, or vice versa.
I just installed Contribute CS5 today and have been trying to connect it to one of my websites (for which I regularly use a free FTP program).
Contribute can't seem to see my internet connection at all. When I type in a website in the Connections wizard, I get a popup box telling me "Contribute cannot find this ... would you like to try to connect anyway?"
I hit Yes and enter my FTP login information. On the next screen, I can hit "Choose" and see all my ftp folders for the site, but if I choose one and hit Next, I get a popup box saying "Contribute cannot verify your connection information. <website> Please contact your administrator for assistance."
I hit Cancel and go to Help, which opens Adobe Community Help, and get a popup saying "The requested page requires an internet connection." and it won't load anything.
Also, attempting to browse to any website through Contribute does not work, I get "This page cannot be displayed" errors for any website I try, including Adobe pages.
Obviously my internet connection is working, as I am posting this message. I opened my regular FTP program and verified that I can indeed connect using that.
Sorry that was a little long-winded.. has anyone else ever had the same strange error? Is there something I'm not doing particularly right?

    laurelVISION,
I see that you never got a reply here, did you figure out what it was?  I'm having the same issue, when I never have before.  Love to hear how you solved it (approximately a year ago!)
    Thanks,

  • Contribute CS5 won't load

Trying to use Contribute Cs5 on Windows 7 Enterprise SP1.
When trying to run Contribute as a user rather than the administrative account which installed the program I get the following error message:
"Could not locate the Resources file in the Configuration folder. This file is required to run Contribute. Please reinstall the application"
The program loads without any problems as the administrative account which installed it.

You may want to try clearing the user preferences.

  • Contribute CS5 - cannot edit pages

I have just installed trial (full) verstion of Contribute and I connected, can navigate between pages etc without any problem in view mode.
However when I click the edit button it says (after trying to download the page and set up some files to work in): "Contribe encountered a network or file system error. Please try the operation again and contact the administrator if the error continues to occur." and does not create an editing page. If I do it again it creates an editing page but it is only the template and no text (apart from what exists in the template). If I add some text and publish it, it adds the text to the page I was editing adding it to the text already there (but which was not viewable in the edit page).
Any ideas why this is happening? I have never used this programme before. My provider has no idea why this is happening and is not familar with Contribute. Any help to resolve this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Please clear the preferences and try.
Delete the Preferences in Library –
Go to “<username>/Library/Preferences/”   and delete the folder  “Adobe Contribute CS5”
Delete the Preferences in locale -
Go to “<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/”     and delete the folder  “Contribute 6”
If the above doesnot help then check if there any other versions of Contribute on the same machine and clear them also along with CS5 and try again.
Check publishing a plain page from Contribute and reediting the same.
Can you try editing any other page with a different template ?
Could you try the same on any other machine and check?
Can you share the URL ?

  • Problems performing silent install of CR XI Rel 2

We are using the instructions from the installation guide to perform a silent install by running the command
    setup.exe ADDLOCAL=ALL EXCLUDEDOTNETFILES=1 EXCLUDEJAVAFILES=1 EXCLUDERDCFILES=1 CLIENTLANGUAGE=EN REBOOT=ReallySuppress PIDKEY=(actualKey) INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Crystal Reports 11.5" /live c:\temp\cr_11.log /qn
The installation runs but fails at the end of the installation when attempting to put the shortcuts in the users or All users Start Menu with the error of MainEngineThread is returning 1603 (when under user ID) or MainEngineThread is returning 1604 (when under All Users).  The installation is being run with an administrator access login ID, so access to either area should not be a problem.
The installation is on both Windows 2000 and XP pc's and the win32 directory of the msi installation files have been copied locally to the machine as part of the process to eliminate network lag.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get past this?

Check the readme and help files on  how to.

    Hi,
I was successful to start a silent installation of Oracle9iR2 using a responsefile on my System RHEL 3. But the installation ends soon and a wrong successful install message:
Error :*** Alert: A configuration script needs to be run as root before installation can proceed. Please leave this window up, go run /opt/app/oracle/product/9.2.0/root.sh as root from another window, then come back here and click OK to continue. ***

I use -ignorePatchConflicts for ignoring the patch conflicts. But How do I handle these issues. Where I have to run root.sh ... etc in teh Non Interactive Install.
I am scripting solution for non interactive install and manual intervention to run these root.sh shell scripts at different points of install is not a good idea as it wont help me automate the install.
Please let me know if anyone has solved this problem with -silent install.
    Thanks in advance.
