Contribute "low on memory" and Acrobat won't redraw

I have two issues that I believe may be related.  First here's my system information
WinXP SP3
Intel Core2Duo E6550 = (2.33GHz)
3GB RAM
GeForce 8600GTS 512 MB Video
Running two 19" monitors, (at 1440x900 each)
Creative Suite Premium 2.0 (InDesign CS2, Photoshop CS2, IllustratorCS2, Acrobat 7 Professional, BridgeCS2, GoLive CS2Version Cue is disabled.)
Production Studio Premium 1.0 (Premiere Pro 2, Encore DVD 2, After Effects 7, Audition 2)
Contribute CS3, (including Bridge CS3, but I don't use it, I use Bridge CS2 for everything).
First Issue.  Intermittently, in both Adobe Reader 9, and Acrobat 7.0 pdf files that I have open will not display in the window properly, unless I reduce the size of the window to something quite small.  It will show the desktop in behind the window, or if I open a window on top, it shows that window even when I've moved it.
The second problem is similar, but occurs in Contribute CS3 and is always accompanied by a "Your system is low on memory..." error, until I reduce the size of the Contribute window, at which point, it is so small that it becomes unuseable.
The only other program that I have open at the time is Outlook 2007, with a couple of messages.
As this is happening, I open the Task Manager, see that there is plenty of available Physical Memory, and the CPU Usage is very low, under 10%.  I've set my virtual memory paging file to Custom Size of 4591MB.
The only way to fix it is to reduce the size of windows or close all the programs.  These two problems occur independently of each other.  Sometimes when I'm just trying to open a PDF file.
3GB should be plenty to run Contribute and Outlook, or Acrobat and Bridge.
What the heck is going on?

Thanks for the reply.
Yes I have tried that, but to no avail.  The crazy thing is that it only really happens after I've been working in Contribute for a while.  Sometimes an hour or more.  Then it just starts doing this.
The redraw problem also affects other programs, that are not Adobe programs.  For example, when I open a Remote Desktop Connection to the web server where I am publishing, while this problem is occuring, the screen will not "draw" properly either.
I have a feeling that there is something strange about how Contribute, and Acrobat, and Windows share the memory, either the system memory, or the graphics memory.
Could this also be a problem caused by having both CS2 and CS3 programs installed?

  • "Bridge is running low on memory and should be restarted" error

I am running Bridge CS4 on a DELL T-1650 with plenty of hard drive space.  I am having trouble with indexing / caching files.  My computer is connected to a large office server with a large amount of files that I need to be able to search.  I recieve a "Bridge is running low on memory and should be restarted" error each time I attempt to index the files on the server drive.  I have tried Purge and Cache, set the cache memory slider to max.  This is a very large amount of files (TB ) to index /cache.  I leave the computer running overnight to allow ample time, I nothing on my TB hard drive , and have 16GB of available RAM.  Any ideas?

…My computer is connected to a large office server…
Aha!  Working over a network is not supported by Adobe.
This is the boilerplate text often used in connection to saving to a network (please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe):
If you are opening files over a network or saving them to a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the event you are currently experiencing problems with one or more files. Working across a network is not supported.
    See:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406793.html
Copy the CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work.   It should.
Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost.

Yes, you could, because in this case you would have something like a backup in the cloud. BTW, personally I also like Flickr. Flickr offers you 1 TB (1000 GB) of free storage and automatic upload for photos since iOS 7 (it is a very attractive offer, at least for me)

HI my mac is low on memory and i want to erase some apps that i don't use in the iTunes media folder that i have already eraed from itunes
how do i erase them without going one by one checking names???

There is no way to automatically select the unused apps.  But, you can go go through your apps library and hold the command key as you select each app you want to delete to get them all at once.

  • Google Earth low on memory and crashing

I'm using an ipad Air with maximum storage and latest iOS. Google Earth, previously a reliable app, is now consistently reporting low in memory and quickly crashing when in Stree View.
I've tried rebooting with no change.
Groan. I see Safari is still not working properly when composing messages here. Seems worse than last iOS version. Autocorrect not reliable and my KB shortcuts no longer work, e.g. To enter my Sig. And those misplaced caps...

    (A) Try reset iPad
Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down together until you see the Apple Logo.
Note: Data will not be affected.
    (B) Close all apps in the multi-task window
    1.Double-click the Home button.
    2. Swipe the app's preview up to close it.
    3. Preview will fly off the screen.

My iPad is low on memory and it says to turn off apps running in background . How do I do that

    Hello Skittles1202
It sounds like more of the storage of your iPad is full. Plug it into your computer and check in iTunes or on your iPad go to Settings > General > Usage and it will sort out in order of what is taking up the most space. Once you figure that out you can either delete what is not needed or import any photos that you may have to your computer. If you want to close out any application that you may have open previously, then double tap the home button and then swipe up on any app that you want to close

  • Fireworks and Acrobat won't run CS4 & CS5

Long story, short version.  I have a brand new iMac, installed CS4 from scratch, and would get the Fireworks error.  Tried, uninstall and reinstall many times.. Said oh well, I want CS5 anyhow, so I bought the upgrade to CS5.  Used the Adobe Cleaner Scripts, removed EVERYTHING.  Installed CS5 Web Pro.  Still both Fireworks and Acrobat don't work.
Here is my initial thread that has lots of info on error dumps, etc.  Hoping someone here might have some ideas..
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/771506?tstart=60
I have called Adobe support and it was awful.. Did not get anywhere and it really seemed to me that they don't like Macs
Just want to throw an idea out there in case it triggers a thought.  I do have the new Office 2011 on my computer too.  I have disabled duplicate fonts and stuff like that.
I use fireworks and acrobat all the time, any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!

Well like i mentioned and gave the link to my original post in the Fireworks forum.  I just did one test though and maybe that will be more information for someone else.
I just created a second account on my mac.  I logged out of my main one and then into the new one.  Both worked just fine, so the error pops up when its initializing the user files, and with the new user it works fine.
Any ideas as to what might be wrong with my main user account to cause a problem?

  • LG VOrtex keeps saying low on memory and i cant get it to stop...........

How low is your phone storage?
Have you clear the cache for the applications? Settings > applications > manage applications > all tab > menu button > sort by size. Go through each application one by one and press the clear cache button wherever you find it.
Note the size of your email application. Post back for additional information depending on the results.
Note the size of Dialer Storage. Ditto as above.

  • InDesign and Acrobat Won't Print

    15" MacBook Pro running 10.4.11 --- CS3
I cannot print from InDesign or Acrobat. I can print from the other CS3 suite and from other programs. I have reinstalled both programs. I have tried printing to different printers via usb and wireless. I have reinstalled both printer drivers.  I have purchased a new battery. I have never installed additional plugins.
Both printers will print test pages. Please post suggestions or knowledge.

Wait...you don't have enough harddrive space to do a full install? That could be the answer to your problems right there.

  • IPod very low on battery and now won't turn on when plugged into PC

I haven't used my iPod for a few weeks, so now the battery is obviously completely empty. The problem is that it won't turn on when I plug it into my PC to charge, even after half an hour or longer. Is there something I can do, or do I need to get a completely new battery put in?

If you are unable to give specifics about the problem or what you need to do, it's going to be rather hard to give you recommendations or alternate suggestions.
As I said, if I recall correctly, the iPod will stay on if it's being charged. But, in case I'm misremembering, are you holding down the button until you see the red arrow that says "Slide to power off"? Have you tried restoring it?

  • System Low on Memory

I've tried searching for this subject and could fin it, so I
hope it isn't there. I keep getting the message that the System is
low on memory and I need to close applications to free up memory. I
have 2 GB of RAM, and I would think that would be enough to run
Dreamweaver. I have shut all programs down, and I will still get
this message. There are also times that this is the first and only
program I have opened up after a restart, and I will still get this
message. Does anyone have any help for me? Here are some of my
    system specs:
    AMD 64 4400+ Dual Core
    ASUS A8V motherboard
    ATI X800 AIW Video card
    500 GB SATA hard drive
Running Windows Vista (had this problem with XP also)

There was something posted by an Adobe person awhile back
    that said it might
have to do with your Virtual Memory settings. Let the O/S
    control it, don't
    customize the settings.
You could search Adobe to get all the details.

  • Rendering and Low System Memory issues in PE9.

    Hello again.
    N.B: I am an ex-PE3 user.
I am having a few issues with PE9.
    1. My main issue is that I am regularly getting the 'low system memory; please proceed with caution' message. I have googled it and read people's suggestions, but am not sure where to go from here. I have tried saving my file under another name, but am already up to '....E' (fifth) version of the file I've been working on this afternoon. The total time of the project is only approx 45 min's, although I will say that this 'low system memory' issue seems to be worst today, as I'm adding more still photos.
    2. One of the suggestions made by Steve G on one of the forums was to make sure projects are regularly rendered. When I hit 'Enter' to render, the little render window pops up for a split second and then disappears. And I would assume from the red line above my timeline that my file is not rendered.
    3. When I switch to 'Sceneline' view, my horizontal scroll-bar across the bottom will only drag SO far (to a certain point in my project; but definitely not to the end of my project. It is really frustrating. I sometimes can fix it by flicking between Sceneline and Timeline, but I have to do this multiple times... and it seems a ridiculous way to do it.
It would be fantastic if someone could help me with these issues, please!
    System details:
    AMD processor 3.2 Ghz
4 gig RAM (3.12 gig usable)
    Windows 7 Ultimate

    Hi everyone:
    Thankyou for all your suggestions.
Sorry, Bill, but both those links give me an error message. I was all set to read them, but they won’t work, unfortunately.
What is meant by ‘page file managed’, sorry? And do you mean ‘hard disk drives’ by HDD, or does it stand for something else in this context? I’m not sure what you mean by how do I have them allocated. Again, apologies for my ignorance. I do have only one HDD, but it is partitioned.
The image sizes all seem to have a depth of 24, but vary in dimensions – I can see that some are quite large (around 3 mg in size, with dimensions of 4288x2848, for example). Is the actual mg-size relevant, or only the physical length and width?
I have tried to look at the frame size of my project, but it seems to be greyed out. In pale digits, there is 720x576 written.
Just before I sent this, I thought of one other thing to try first.
I tried starting a ‘New Project’. I then inserted just 6 still photos, for experimentation purposes. I then hit ‘Enter’ and the Rendering window came up and appears to have rendered correctly. So I then tried looking at one of my other projects (that hadn’t previously been rendered) and tried to render it. In this case, as in for the project I am currently working hard on, the Rendering window flashes up for about ¼ of a second and then disappears.
    What is going on???

  • PDF won't open in FireFox/IE on XP SP3 if Rdr9.3x and Acrobat 6.06

I've been fighting this for a few days.  The platform is a windows XP SP3 domain client with Acrobat 6.0.6 and Acrobat Reader 9.  (The platform was recently re-installed from scratch owing to malware infestation and is now "pristine".)
I discovered that if I install Acrobat Reader 8 PRIOR to installing Reader 9, PDF files will open in the browser windows.  BUT, if Reader 8 is NOT installed prior to Reader 9, the PDF file won't open and a commonly reported error message occurs.
FireFox shows that when the viable installation sequence (as above) is followed, the Adobe Acrobat Plugins installed include support for mime types: pdf, vnd.adobe.pdfxml, vnd.adobe.x-mars, vnd.fdf, vnd.adobe.xfdf, vnd.adobe.xdp+xml, and vnd.adobe.xfd+xml.  If Reader 8 is NOT installed prior to Reader 9, only the pdf mime type.
The PDFs that were the immediate cause of all this trouble were PDF forms with blanks to fill-in -- if that makes a difference.
    The symptoms are reproducible.
Also, if you have Reader 9 installed and are experiencing this problem, simply uninstall it, install Reader 8, then install Reader 9.  The required MIME type support seems to be supplied by the Reader 8 installation and stays around when Reader 9 is installed.
    Hope this helps some folks.
