We had the same problem. On this forum someone told be to
change the setting in the role under Styles and Fonts > Style
Support to "HTML tags". I don't know why, but this worked.

How can I allow Contribute Users to save documents somewhere other than "docs"?

Our website was rebuilt by an outside company, who took my file structure and dumped it into the new site (I use Dreamweaver and our staff uses Contribute for their little niche of the web). We have a large site with multiple folders within the site. Those folders have several folders below them to sub-divide the tons of info we have to keep straight. However when I set up the parameters for the Contribute users, I only seemed to have one option to save documents (the "docs" folder).
I need for Contribute users to be able to save documents/files deeper in the file structure. How can I do that?

The answer depends on how "good" your Contribute users actually are. By default, Contribute always places documents in the same folder as the page in a "documents" folder. I see two potential options: (1) the user(s) needs to go to the where the document needs to live and place the link at that level or (2) you can show your user the "Publish File From My Computer" (under file, in the third section) which would allow them to place the document in the correct location and then link to it from whatever page is appropriate. Personally, that would be a last choice.

Share Feature - Document Library - Contribute Users getting: Only a limited amount of people are allowed to share this content

Hi
I am getting the following error when users with contribute permissions try to share an individual document from a document library.
If I upgrade the user to full control they are then able to Share the file ok and not get the above error.
So what I am wondering is should users with contribute access be able to Share the document? If not then why is the Share option available?
Which permission level if I edit the contribute permission levels do I need to add, I cannot see any Share specific permissions for lists and reluctant to give contribute users access to modify permissions?
I'll continue troubleshooting to see if I find the solution but wondered if anyone in the community had come accross this? Googling the error message
Only a limited amount of people are allowed to share this content brings up nothing.

Today I fixed this issue by enabling Site Access Requests on the SharePoint sites with this problem. (http://blog.cloudshare.com/2012/12/09/how-to-configure-the-site-access-request-in-sharepoint-2013/)
Personally I think this is created by design, because it happens a lot that content is shared with users which do not have access to a SharePoint site and/or library. So I guess we do not have another option..
Programmatically the above could be done by setting the "SPWeb.RequestAccessEmail" property with a valid e-mail address. For example the site owner's e-mail address. Setting the "SPWeb.RequestAccessEnabled" property is not allowed and
is automatically done by settings the "SPWeb.RequestAccessEmail" property

Dynamic User Survey Portlet

Dynamic User Survey Portlet. I want to create a dynamic survey in oracle portals.
The administrator should be able to specify the questions, answer column attributes in a database table and activate the
current survey using a status_flag column. How to write a portlet to generate the survey page dynamically and
present to the user. The questions and answers should be inserted into another database table on submit.

Active Content - Flash - fix for Contribute Users

Greetings,
I have a group of users that use Contribute. Many of these
users create Flash Paper forms and embed them in a standard
template. These individuals do not work with HTML or JavaScript.
Recently a security patch for IE has been applied to the
organization. This patch includes the IE Run Active Content patch.
Now, when Contribute users apply Active Content and post their
pages they get the "Click to activate this content" message and a
bounding box around the Flash Paper content.
Right now I know there are two work-arounds that fix this
problem, unfortunately it requires someone usingJavascript and
Dreamweaver (or hand coding) rather than Contribute. As Contribute
users they do not have the rights to modify parts of the template.
Unfortunately that part of the template is where work-around
javascript would be placed.
Is there a way for content providers to apply the fix rather
than having a Dreamweaver Admin apply a fix? Is there a javascript
modification that changes one of the two work arounds
(AC_RunActiveContent.js and swfobject.js). These folks are not
posting to an IIS server. They are using standard HTML templates.

Intalling a slide show that can be edited by contribute users

I have developed a standardized template for a number of non
profit organizations so that they can use contribute to update
their websites without changing the template.
Is there a way I could develop a slide show in dreamweaver
and upload it so that contribute users can change the photos and
comments associated with the photos without them changing the way
the slide show works?

Yes.
You will need another secure zone, specifically for those 5 users.
You will need to check the box in the web app settings that says anyone can edit the items.
Show all web app items on a page in the new secure zone. (note: use {module_webapps}, not {module_webappscustomer}, otherwise they will only see the items they personally created)
Make a custom list layout where you will create an edit link. You won't be able to output the edit link as a tag because we aren't using {module_webappscustomer}. You will need to create a link that looks something like: <a href="{tag_itemurl_nolink}?A=Edit">edit</a>

Adobe ColdFusion User Survey

you got a ton of people who give for nothin their expertise and time to help other users ( on a regular basis ) and they would be considered ( in a civilized world ) " loyal ".
you got tons of people using the products over the years, and you would think of them as at least loyal customers ( just cause the tools work for the jobs ).
THEN you got some whacko CEO who loves to keep secrets and is playing around behind your back....and couldn't care LESS about you...and basically says " I want a divorce ! "
Well, not really a divorce..just a separation...like, " I want to leave you and you can follow me if you want, but I don't love you and if you don't follow me too bad ".
Now you got your best friend, the divorce lawyer, looking at you over a brandy and cigar ( in your den late at night while you cry over the situation ) saying , " Hey, things aren't really terrible.. you can always just let her run away and do the separation...and then file for divorce later "...
But your heart is in it... you feel bad, you feel let down, you feel like you got screwed....and NONE OF THAT MATTERS to the courts....
I can't wait for season 2 !!!!!!

Locking editable template regions to Contribute users only

Hi,
I would like to know if it's possible to lock some editable
template regions to Contribute users only? We need to have these
regions editable through Dreaweaver so our site designers can still
modify them. I'm not talking about the "Optional region" here, just
a "regular" editable region.

there's no option to restrict access to contribute users only
when using Dreamweaver templates.. but a possible dirty workaround
would be to place those editable regions inside dynamic code (ASP,
PHP, JSP, etc..) as Contribute won't be able to interpret them..
they won't be visible in Contribute

When a Contribute user opens a page, shouldn't I see it in DW?

I setup a client of mine with Contribute 3, and I built the
site in DW8. I turned on Check In/Check Out, and Contribute
Compatibility or what have you. Yet, I wiped out his pages when I
changed the template and checked out all the pages, then
re-uploaded them. Shouldn't I see a checkmark next t a file if a
Contribute user has the page in Edit mode? If not, what's the
point? Seems like a dangerous way to work. Any insights?

Check out should have warned you that someone had the file
Checked out but
it is only a warning and DW will let you load files over the
top.

Send for publish: no contribute users or user roles in send list box

Users needing to submit drafts for publishing choose Send for Publish. When the Send window displays nothing appears in the Send the draft to another Contribute user: list box. User needs to be able to choose 'all users in the "administrator" role.'

How do I enable a site for Contribute users?

I'm sorry if this is a very basic question, but I have been
through the tutorials and much of the help in Contribute 3 and it
all seems to be focused on what to do with an existing, Contribute
enabled site. What I want to do is find out about what comes before
that - how to enable a site for Contribute users. I can't find
anything that explains how to do this. I've also looked through
what I assume are the files used by the Trio Motor Company tutorial
and I can't see anything that marks that out as being a Contribute
enabled site. I'm not even sure whether or not Contribute needs
special programs to be running on the server.
I'm probably missing something.

Site/Manage Sites .. select your site and Edit.
Go to the Advanced Site Definition Window. Next to last in
the menu column
is Contribute. Select that and check the check box.

Access denied error when Loading document library for "contribute" users : Unknown SPRequest error occurred. More information: 0x80070005

Hi,
We are facing a very strange issue on a SharePoint Publishing portal. Domain users (contribute level access) have access to document libraries under specific sub sites. Every morning if they try to access the document library pages, users complain about "Access Denied" issue on document library page. But if a SP Farm admin account login on site, and browse to document library page, access denied issue seems to disappear for end users also. For whole day it works fine. But next day access denied error occurs again. I am not sure why this is happening. I have looked into Event Log and SharePoint Logs, found following information useful, but not sure what to do next.
Please help.

From the log, it seems that the users don’t have permission on this page:
/Projects/LFB/03 Bid Stage 1/Forms/AllItems.aspx
Does the sub site have unique permission instead of inheriting permission from the parent site? If no, you need to make the sub site to inherit permission from the site collection so that master page also inherits the right. If this is not allowed in your organization, please go to “Site Actions”à “Site Settings” à “Master Pages and Page Layouts” to give users permissions on this document library.
