Contribute3

I am new to Contribute 3. I want to use adsense on my website
to produce some income from the ads. They give you HTML code to
copy and paste to the website, but in useing contribute... I'm
stumped on how to get it on my website. I have tried using "styles"
as the help menu directed, but I don't seem to be doing something
right... I'm raising my white flag on this one. Can anyone offer
any help/advice? Again, excuse my new-ness to the program.

Uh, I'm know I'm a newbie, but there has to be a way. I've
been playing around with it for a solid week now and I know there
has to be! I keep refering to the help menu and it has instructions
on how to use HTML but I just don't understand it :) Is there a
program I can use to insert a text box that will work with my HTML
code? I'm not giving up yet! I don' t want to wait for the new
program... I'm still looking for an answer... (i'm kind of stubborn
guys!)

  • Contribute3 cant edit subpages

I am using contribute3, In this site I can edit the top level
pages by clicking on the "edit page" button. However I can't edit
any pages under this top page using this same button. All that
happens is that contribute says it's loading the page and it just
    sits there.
In order to sucessfully edit this page I have to navigate to
the page using the tool bar at the top of contribute and choose the
page from a list of files.
Any idea why some pages work and others require this
    workaround? Help?

Smart objects needs to rasterized to be editable. You have probably dragged an image into your open PS document or placed an image using File/Place, that will turn the dropped/placed image into a smart object (there are also other ways to do this). Smart Objects are awfully clever, I could write about them all day, but check out this link instead (sorry, a bit lazy today ) : http://helpx.adobe.com/en/photoshop/using/create-smart-objects.html

  • Problems with Contribute3/Dreamweaver8 & PDF files

Does anyone know of problems downloading PDF files that have
been uploaded with either Contribute 3 or Dreamweaver 8 to a
server. I seem to be able to read these files in FireFox but not
    IE6 - don't know what I am doing wrong - HELP !!

May be that the acrobat reader association with IE has got
    corrupted. Why
not try to download an updated reader, and install it.

  • Contribute3 web server permissions?

Recently, our web host moved our website to a new server, and
we haven't been able to get Dreamweaver/Contribute working on the
    new server.
When I try to manage the site, my Dreamweaver MX 2004
connects, but generates an error, indicating "Dreamweaver cannot
determine the remote server time. The Select Newer and Synchronize
    commands will not be available."
Also, when trying to administer for Contribute in
Dreamweaver, Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 issues an error, "An
FTP error occurred - cannot put TMPzxd3jd3ivh.htm. Access denied.
The file may not exist, or there may be a permission problem."
What permissions to what directories are required? Are there
any downloadable instructions for installing Dreamweaver/Contribute
    on the web server?
    Any help GREATLY appreciated!

Have you searched the knowledge base thoroughly?
And the forum, have you searched the forum?
I remember a post about the moving of a website, and the
troubles being created on not moving the website in the correct
way. This way old admin settings and conn settings where giving
    trouble...
I think there even was a subject in the help section of
Contribute about moving a website in the right manner.
I would advice to remove the administration as a whole and
create a new connection and administration.

  • C3 - User can no longer publish after website redesign

    Hi everyone,
Been a while, Murray, hope you are still around, need your help!  *smile*
Have a client who has been using Contribute for a while, and they currently have Contribute3 (3.1).  Their website has been redesigned, and I wasn't sure what to do with regard to the old files, so I made a backup and removed them leaving the folders.
When she tried to Publish her first change, she received an error message saying: "Access Denied.  The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem.  I am having our staff check on the permission issue, although this was not an issue the last time she made a change.  And obviously the file exists, or she would not have been able to go to the server, retrieve the file, and edit the file.
Is there some procedure I should/should have gone through?  I would appreciate your help!
    Thanks,
    Suzanne

Hi everyone, especially to anyone else with this issue currently or in the future.  I was surprised that I got no comments from anyone, and ended up posting on the Connection/Administration side as well - no response there either.  Very surprising.
The initial problem I found, was that the directory had not been set up for a group I was told, so I continued to have write access, etc.  During their attempt to correct this, a mistake was made and the folder permissions were hosed up for both myself and the user.
When a user attempts to connect to a server, and the permission has changed, Contribute apparently disables that site's connection within Contribute.  I have never had this happen on my end, but it created a login issue for the user.  I have often come in to see disable connections, but if all is well, I have been able to connect.  Even after the permission issue was solved, the user still could not login.
In my continued search for a solution, something made me think about this, and when I had the user check, the connection had been disabled.  When the connection was enabled, the user was then able to login, make changes, and publish those changes normally.
I would gather from this, that Contribute does indeed check the users folder or some folder upon each login.
    Hope this helps.
    Suzanne

  • Send for Review problem

Working on Contribute3. Administrator is not on the list of
users to send drafts for review. All other users appear fine.
Site setup and Admin acct was created on an earlier version
of Contribute. All other users were created in Contribute3. Is that
why I am having this problem?
    Thanks for any input!

    Hi,
There were users in Contribute 2.0 Everything was based on
the roles. Contribute 2.0 did not support the feature of send for
    review.
Roles were only present in contribute 2.0. User based
management existed only from Contribute 3.0
You have to add users in Contribute 3.0.
Please get back if you have any questions.
    Thanks,

  • Yellow boxes with question marks

Can anyone please help? I am trying to administer/edit a
table from a website using Contribute3. Although I can edit text
& delete some rows etc, I cannot delete other rows which
contain a square yellow box with a question mark in it. C3 doesn't
appear to offer any help & I cannot delete the marks. Does
anyone know what these marks are & what I need to do to delete
areas where they are displayed? Many thanks in advance...

Further analysis shows that when I use hhc to compile my .chm
file within Visual Studio, the results are different from when
Robohelp compiles the file. I do not believe Robohelp is using hhc.
With hhc, I did not get the results I expected when I modified the
map data. The .chm files produced by Robohelp and by hhc are
different! The only safe procedure currently is to compile using
Robohelp. Not happy about this. I would like hhc
"htmlhelp\HandyAvi.hhp" to do the job. I don't think it does at
this point. What else is there that will work?
I suppose this is not critical. I'm just used to years of
having this work a certain way... I have modified the .hhp file's
Custom Build Step now to look like this:
if not exist "htmlhelp\HandyAvi.chm" goto :HelpError
    Echo.
    echo Copying htmlhelp\HandyAvi.chm to $(OutDir)
echo Be sure it is the latest Robohelp Output!
    Echo.
    copy "htmlhelp\HandyAvi.chm" "$(OutDir)"
    goto :HelpDone
    :HelpError
Echo could not copy HandyAvi.chm file. Rerun Robohelp
    compile!
    :HelpDone
    echo.
    Sigh...

  • Reinstalling Contribute 3

Hello, we just got a new pc and successfully re-installed
Contribute3. However, when I go into Windows Explorer and hilite a
file to delete, Contribute 3 starts to load. I need to cancel in
order to finally get the usual "do you wish to delete this file and
send to the recycle bin". Of course, version 3 is no longer
supported by Adobe so they wouldn't help me.
Can someone tell me how to configure or disable this
    sequence?
    Thanks,
    Steven

  • Difficulties with contribute 3 (not CS3...)

    Hello,
I've been managing a website, built with dreamweaver. We have some colleagues using contribute3 in order to manage their pages.
As the principal webmaster, i'm using dreawveaver CS6.
Some other webmastesr manage their pages with different  dreamweaver versions (DW8, DWmx). Everybody works on windows 7
I'm faced with a lot of problems with Contribute.
First problem : Send a connection key.
Each time I send a connection key, I receive this message
Second problem : The contribute's users don't see the background of their page (As if the CSS files weren't downloaded)
I've checked whether they can have acces to the folder, and they can....
Third problem : error message about a script
I know we are using an old version of contribute, but I don't think it's a problem of compatibility.
    Please, I need heellllllllp :-)

    Hello Graffiti,
    thanks for your replie.
As you can see, I'm working on Windows 7 and using Contribute 3

  • Contribute 3 key compatible with CS3?

I created a connection key for my client in Contribute3, but
    since Contribute CS3 doesn't have a trial available, I can't test
to see if the connection key will work in CS3. Anyone know if it
    should work ok?
    Thanks.
    Paul

Actually there is a trial now available for Adobe Contribute
CS3 for both Windows and Mac.
Also, I have just installed Contribute CS3 this morning on
all the machines in my office and we have had no trouble connecting
to the CPS setup. Our two sites were both initially setup using
    Contribute 3.11.

  • Can FrontPage be edited on iMAc?

Has anyone used Contribute3, or the new Contribute 4, on an
iMac G5 to edit web work done in FrontPage on a PC?
My intention is to eventually convert FrontPage material to
    Contribute.

I have never seen that problem posted here before.

Not sure if this works though.

  • Error with Javascript

Hello, is there anyone that can assist me with this problem,
it has been a month or two now and no one has answered me...this
    matter is important to me...
I am on my third trial version of 'Contribute'
    This is my problem:-
I am experiencing an annoying problem, I cannot edit my
website because, along the way Contribute3 throws up errors to do
    with javascript.
E.g, when trying to copy any image, text I get the following
    error:
While executing DWMenu_Edit_Cut command in ccmenus.xml, the
    following JavaScript error(s) occurred:
Then when I try to save the page:
"While executing onLoad in_afterSave.htm, the following
    Javascript error(s) occured:
    In fine "" _afterSave"":
    ReferenceError: afterSave is not defined"
It does save the page, but I have to keep clicking the
    errors
In addition to that, I am unable to view my style sheet
options (this is already enabled) ...
Does any one have any other options?... Can anyone assist
with this I cannot keep using th trial versions - as I use
    Contribute on a daily basis...

    Jennifer,
I'm not sure if I can answer your question directly but, if you simply move the location of your code, it will work. You want this to execute when the page loads, right?
Just go into the Page properties. IN the section labeled "JavaScript" find the text area labeled "Execute When Page Loads" in there, put:
$x_HideItemRow('P150_OTHER');That will execute the hide command whenever the page loads.

  • Another Publishing Problem

    Using Contribute 3.1
When I went to Publish my Page, I get an Error Message saying
    " Access to C:/Documments and Settings/Application
    data/Contribute3/MCF180tmp was Denied".
Then, I think I tried to Publish it again, and got this
second Error Mssg "Either the network is unavailable, or you don't
have permission to publish in this area".
I think then I Saved it for later. Now when I'm at the page
it's linked to, I see that mssg saying "You have an Unpublished
Draft of this page", but my problem is, when I click on that
Message (to hopefully go to my Edited Page and Publish it) I get a
    blank white screen.
I've posted three screenshots of the Error Messages here ..
    http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a173/JoeWood_/contrib/?
OK folks, I sure hope someone has an answer for me .. need to
    get this info published!

OK, I went back in after a few days, went to that White Page,
    and hit Cancel.
    Fixed my problem.
Sure would be nice if someone from Adobe or wahatever would
monitor these forums, and give us users a little help!
