Control Center (CC) - Ability to set Podcast as default player (vs. Music)?

Hello, people more knowledgeable than me!
I only listen to podcasts on my iPhone 5C. I almost never listen to music. However, Music seems to be the default when I swipe up to access the control center, even if I haven't listened to it in weeks or months. Podcasts will only come up when that app is already open. Is there a way to make Podcasts the default here?
I've read that CC is supposed to access whichever you were most recently listening to. So, for example, if I played a podcast, then stopped it, then closed the app, CC should pull up that most recently played track. But it doesn't seem to do this. It only works when the Podcasts app is already open.
This seems silly since there's already a Music button on the bottom of the home screen (Phone, Mail, Safari, Music).
Any tips?

It makes and keeps all the changes I make in preferances with the exception of making ITUNES the default audio player. The only solution or work around has been to go and right click on say a MP3 file select file/open with/select ITUNES check the box always open with this program box and then it will open the Mp3 files with ITUNES.
It kinda gets what I want done I suppose, but I, like the Dyson vacuum guy on TV believe things "should work as they as supposed to".
As yet ITUNES Ver.7 has been a disappointment, as long as windows XP has been around and as widspread as the usage of ITUNES is on windows platrom machines, IMHO there is no excuse for these kind of compatability issues.

Thanks for your reply. I tried that too and it still doesnt work. When I click on the wmv file it opens up in a new browser page. There is sound but no video.

Control Center and OC Genie setting in BIOS

Hi,
I have the OC Genie setting "ENABLED" in the BIOS, but my Windows MSI "Control Center" says it is "DISABLED". Any ideas? I have a MSI H61M-E33 (B3)(MS-7680) motherboard. Please let me know what I can do and how to get the maximum out of this mainboard!!!

Or, you can download the bios from MSI download page and flash it with the MSI HQ Flashing Tool. Its a little bit of reading but it works great. =)
I had MSI motherboards before, but after purchasing this motherboard I regret it... Thats for sure...
The main reason is that the software, it just doesn't work well.

Thanks Andersson for your reply. I was able to update the BIOS from MSI website and updated all of the drivers they say needed after updating my OS to Win 8 Pro 64 Bit.
However I still have some issues with the 3TB Seagate Baracuda HDD. Only 2.1 TB is recognized. rest is un usable for me.
Second problem that I ma having I am sure most of the readers will be in my boat as well is that the residence screen resolution on this motherboard is only 1440 x 900 MAX. This is even lower that my 10 year old desktop that I am replacing. Is there any utility or any drivers for on board video chip that can make use of available system RAM and up the screen resolution?
MSI tech support was of no help in dealing with these issues.

Upgraded to 10.3.1.55, now can't set iT as default player,"An error occurred when updating the default player for audio files types. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation." How to fix?

After I upgraded iTunes, iTunes doesn't recognize CD in the drive, apparently isn't the default player. It won't let me set iTunes as the default player, I get the error message "An error occurred when updating the default player for audio files types." I tried Whitesides' remedy (changing Read Only status in folder in Windows) but it didn't solve the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Oddly enough. I think I just solved it. It looks like, for some reason, my computer has about 8 different "iTunes music" folders, and I've been saving my music to the wrong one. Neat. Music now imports and plays as it should. Copying things over is going to be so fun tonight!

Despite having the File Associations in both Windows Control Panel and Firefox Options set to Windows Media Player for *.mwv files Firefox tries to open them with Foxit pdf Reader, which bombs out - what now?

Making this entry from my Linux computer which handles the situation correctly.The real situation involves only a Toshiba laptop running Windows XP.

QT was opening the tiff files. When going into the QT control panel Browser>Mime settings>Images-Still image files I was able to uncheck tiff, which held. I was also able to uncheck all the file types under File Types tab(Images-Still image files) in the QT control panel. However the preference would not hold. Went into Start>Set Program Access and Defaults that also was of no help.
The only way I was able to get QT to release the tiff's from the website I posted was to go into the Folder Options control panel for File Types and change the tif & tiff from QT picture viewer to windows picture and fax viewer.
So not sure why the QT control panel will not respond, there are other file types in the Folder options control panel on this computer other than tiff's that are still associated to QT, but didn't try changing them, perhaps that needs to be done?

Upgrade Control Center

I moved audit data from existing Runtime Repository(R1) to New Control Center(R2). After that I upgraded locations to make them Valid. Then we have to run tcl script to upgrade the locations information in design repository. In that tcl code we have to set CC_Name. In comments it says Control Center name like below.
Please assign the name of the Control Center to the following TCL variable:-
set CC_NAME cc_name
Here what is cc_name? Is it control center created at Connection Explorer other than default control center? Which name we have to give? I tried to give Control Center Name which were created at Connection Explorer and Runtime Repository name etc. It was giving error that it couldn't find control center.
If anybody knows please explain here.

11R2 How to change IP in OWB_REPOSITORY_LOCATION and Default Control Center

We are changing the IP of the OWB repository database server. Reviewing the locations tab, I found out the Default Control Center and OWB_REPOSITORY_LOCATION are set up with IPs, so I need to change the IPs by hostname in both of them. I think I cannot use the script OWB_HOME/rtp/sql/UpdateLocation.sql, then, how to do it?
I would appreciate if someone points at other issues I should check from OWB point of view.

Oleg, I have update the CONNECT_SPEC in table WB_RT_SERVICE_NODES with hostname(:port:service), then I stopped / started the Control Center. Locations of OWB_REPOSITORY_LOCATION and Default Control Center still show the IPs in designer. (The other target locations were configured with hostname)
Then I run the script UpdateLocation.sql for OWB_REPOSITORY_LOCATION, and it finished fine:

CPU IO voltages and Control Center

Hello everyone. I hope this is the right section for this, but since it's connected to my OC endeavours I guess it should be OK
I have the Z68A-GD65 (G3) board and I am a little confused by the CPU IO voltage readings in BIOS and in the MSI's control center.
When I set it to 1.12 in BIOS, CC seems to be showing it at 1.025, which is even lower than the default, if I am not mistaken. I think when it was set to 1.19 in BIOS, the reading in CC was around 1.089, so it seems the difference is around 0.1V between those readings.
Now I am wondering, if that is some kind of a glitch in the software or does the CC override the settings. Or perhaps there is some setting in BIOS that causes the CPU IO to drop? Worst case, something wrong with the MB/CPU?
I have an OC right now at 4.4 GHz (on a 2500k) and it went fine through around 10 Prime95 tests at the apparent 1.02 VTT/CPU IO, so it felt to me like something is wrong.
If I set the setting on Auto in BIOS, the CC will show something over 1.2V for it when overclocked (which is not a good setting, as far as I understand). I am not sure about the stock clocks and CC readings, but in BIOS it shows over 1.3V on auto on stock clocks, which is even weirder.
I hope someone will be able to clear this up for me

Yeah, that was my first thought -to take some direct measurments that is - but unfortunately I don't have anything at hand to do it with at the moment. Would be nice to figure out what's happening though

Resuming podcasts or music from Control Center is buggy

I listen to podcasts using Podcasts.app a lot in the car, and most of the time it resumes normally, especially if it hasn't been too long since I paused it. But intermittently it will kind of freak out and either not resume anything, or resume playing a random music track. From what I can tell, it is more likely to happen if the track data is empty when I pull up the Control Center. If the track info is blank when I pull it up, it is pretty much a toss-up about what it will play back. If it plays the wrong thing back, I have to go back into the Podcasts app and restart the track.
This actually happened to me with the Podcasts.app in iOS 6 on my 4S as well, and as a result I deleted it and never used it. With my 5S and iOS 7 that is no longer an option.
Anyone have any experience with this issue?

Not really sur easy you would be having that problem. Mine works. You might try RESET DEVICE
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost). Then try again and see if it makes a difference

Amdcccle (Catalyst Control Center) not saving multiple monitor setting

I followed the wiki to the letter, but I cannot get any x window session to save the changes I make in amdcccle. All I am trying to do is get multiple monitors configured, and it works great with the catalyst control center but it never saves these settings.
I have done the following:
gksu amdcccle
gksudo amdcccle
also:
sudo aticonfig -f --initial=dual-head --screen-layout=right
and many other interations of aticonfig. The -dtop option complains that it doesnt work with RandR enabled.
I got this working a few weeks ago but can't remember what I did. If amdcccle could actually save the current configuration to file that would solve the issue but it simply will not.

When you updated the drivers did you install over top of existing software or uninstall beforehand?
First we should try ripping everything ATI off of the system, including software, drivers and CCC. You should be able to uninstall everything through Add/remove programs.
After you remove everything reboot and let windows reinstall it's own drivers and software. You don't need CCC to do dual monitors so we can do testing without it.
Once you let windows install see if your HDMI output no longer works when you switch to the TV.
Post back your results after completing this.

Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

Windows 8.1-AMD Catalyst Control Center

Hello!
First of all I would like to start of by saying thank you Hp for an amazing product, I bought my Hp Envy m6 laptop in May and I have loved it ever since. I bought it as a gaming machine, and it did not disappoint me...until I decided to update to Windows 8.1.
I downloaded it from the app store last week to see what new features they added (was rather disappointed with how long it took especially for the lack of great features they added, however that is not your fault), after a day when I bought a new game from Steam (Arma Two) and I went to the Catalyst control center to set the performace to high I realized it had stopped working the message I got was:
"Catalyst Control Center cannot be started.
There are currently no settings that can be configured using Catalyst Control Center"
This means a lot go my games are running rather bad at the moment as they are using a mixture of my intergrated Intel 4000 "graphics card" and my AMD Radaen HD 2GB Graphics card. Instead of just my AMD graphics card (the good one).
I tried looking for solutions to this problem e.g. A new download for Catalyst Control Center or an easy way to downgrade to windows 8 from windows 8.1 however I have been unsuccessful. The only method that seems possibly is to downgrade however that would involve uninstalling all my programs (Over 50 games from steam) and all my other programs.
So the reason for this message is that I am looking for a solution to this problem, either an easy way to downgrade to windows 8 OR a way to get my Catalyst Control Center to work again so I can change what graphics card is used when.

I just contacted HP support regarding this problem. They asked me to install the following file:
ccc2_install.exe
It was already present in my system in the following path:
"C:\Program Files\AMD\CCC2\Install"
This solved my problem. CCC is working fine now
Also, while installing, your desktop might go black and only active windows will seem to work. But, thats fine, just restart your system.

Disabling swipe-down/up menus: notifications center, control center and spotlight

I am working on a project for work that allows patients to use these iPads to submit a short survey upon departure from our clinics. We have standalone kiosks to mount them to the floor and are using "Kiosk Pro Lite" to lock down these devices to where the only thing that the patients can access is the survey itself.
The only problem is that they are still able use the swipe features, and I can't seem to search and locate a way to disable these features without jailbreaking them. Does anybody have any suggestions?

You CAN turn off Control Center from being used within apps: Settings > Control Center > Access Within Apps > Switch OFF (white side showing)
You could then uncheck everything under Settings > General > Spotlight search and set restrictions on what people can change under Settings > General > Restrictions. Just DO NOT forget the password for this as you will have to reset the iPad to factory defaults if you do.

Problem with registering device in Sybase Control Center with SUP 2.2 SP04

I have Sybase Unwired Platform SP04, and I am trying to register my Android device in Sybase Control Center. I registered application connection with HWC as a template. I also installed 2 Sybase apps from Google Play Store on my Android device - Sybase Hybrid Web Container and Sybase Mobile Workflow 2.1. When I tried connecting to Sybase Control Center from my Android device using Sybase Mobile Workflow 2.1, there were no log updates at all. I entered IP address of my computer where I installed SUP as server name. It seemed like Sybase Mobile Workflow 2.1 did not work at all on my Android device. However, there are some log messages when I try to connect to SCC through Sybase Hybrid Web Container - "Engine Startup", "Queued Settings Request", "Communication Error".
I was able to successfully register my Android Emulator on SCC using Hybrid Web Container app and test my hybrid web app. What could be the reason for not being able to register a real device on SCC? Is this the wrong Sybase app used on the device? Or some kind of network issue? Both my android device and my computer are connected to the same home WiFi network and have 192.168.x.y IP addresses, which are local IP addresses accordng to my knowledge.
I was told that if I am unable to open SCC on the device by typing https://<IP_address>:8283/scc in a browser, then my device won't be able to access SCC. And, in fact, my Android device cannot open SCC in its browser, while my Android emulator can.
I have tried using USB or WiFi tethering to so that my laptop actually uses exactly the same Internet connection as my Android phone, but this didn't help either. If someone has any idea on how to fix this, your help will be appreciated!

When I open that page on my device's browser, it says that my browser couldn't connect to it.
I don't think my Firewall blocks port 5001, because I have never set it to do it, and I don't see any outbound or inbound rules on my Windows Firewall to block port 5001. I don't think that my WiFi network would block port 5001, but I can't be sure of it. However, I was told that if I create a portable WiFi hotspot and connect my computer with SUP on it to the hotspot, then my computer and Android device would be on the same network even without Internet Connection, and I would be able to connect to SCC on my device, However, even in this case it did not work.
