Control Click issue - not mentioned in other posts

Hi Everyone,
Experiencing a really annoying glitch with the trackpad.
CONTROL+CLICK works fine if I do it on the desk top (brings up the usual menu of New Folder, Change Background, etc)
However if I'm in a folder (for instance, Downloads) and I want to right click on a file (to bring up the menu with Open With... etc) I get nothing! A single click works to highlight the file. Double click works to open it. But I can't CONTROL-CLICK on it.
Have I turned some off setting to make it do this? Have tried many variations in Trackpad to try to fix it, but nothing seems to work. For instance I made secondary click TWO FINGERS. But same story, works on the plain desktop, but the minute I try to click on a file or folder...nothing.
Any advice appreciated. Cheers.

FOUND THE SOLUTION, DO THESE THINGS IN THIS ORDER
/Library/Preferences - trash the com.apple.finder.plist file, restart your computer & empty the trash.

Control-clicking does not work in Finder

Ever since installing the 10.4.5 update, control-clicking does not work in Finder. When I try to do it, Finder automatically restarts itself. This happens in any Finder window and on the desktop itself. Whether I am control-clicking an Application icon or trying to 'Get Info' on a file, Finder restarts itself. I repaired permissions and it did not fix the problem.
Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks a lot!

Edit: Nevermind. I fixed it by deleting the JIMZip.plugin file in my Contexual Menu folder. I found the answer in another thread. I apologize for searching after I created this thread.

Can you identify any corrupted or incompatible files in either your Macintosh HD/Library/Contextual Menu Items folder, or your Macintosh HD/Users/yourhomefolder/Library/Contextual Menu Items folder?
If so you may be able to uninstall/reinstall the associated application.
You may also consider temporary manual removal and isolation of the suspect file to verify CM functionality.

Unable to customize control bar. Control-Click does not produce drop down window.

I just downloaded Logic Pro X (10.0.7) on a Macbook Pro, OSX 10.9.4, 2.3 Core i7 with 8 GB Ram. I'm trying to customize the control bar (to add auto punch). According to "help" the control bar is customized by Control-Clicking on the control bar and selecting the desired tools from the drop down menu. When I Control-Click (anywhere on the control bar) nothing happens.
I have tried this with no audio interface attached and with my Focusrite Saffire Pro 26 on-line; no difference.

Ahhh...those pesky "Advanced Preferences".

Ora-01000 problem not resolve with other posts

I've the ora-01000 problem which has been argued in other posts but it persist on me.
I'm using JDK 1.3 and Oracle 8i with classes12_01.zip file.
I've been looking at v$open_cursor to see how many cursors where open and even if I put
rs.close(); rs=null;
stmt.close(); stmt=null;
it still doesn't work.

I have installed PSE10 (PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS RET). I have registered the product and have submitted my serial numbers so they should be on file.

I would recommend posting your inquiry to the Photoshop Elements forum. The users there are much more familiar with how the program functions and should be able to help you solve your issue. I would also recommend you include which operating system you are using when reposting your inquiry.

Says (under Compatibility) that iPod nano 4th gen and later are supported ["Requires software version 1.0.3 for iPod nano (4th generation)"]. If your nano is 3rd gen or earlier, it will still work for audio, but some control buttons may not work.

Having 2 small issues with 10.4.3 interface - shift click & control click

I am having two issues with 10.4.3 on my mom's computer.
1) I Control-Click the mouse and I do get a shortcut menu on the desktop, on icons, etc. How can I get this back? I can not seem to find a preference that sets this.
2) I am in iPhoto and would like to select multiple film rolls (consecutive rolls) by clicking the first and then clicking the last one that I would like and it is working like I am comand clicking and only selecting the two rolls that I have clicked on and not the ones in between.
Any help in how to work this out would be great.

Do you have any third-party items in:
/Library/Contextual Menu Items/
/Users/YourUsername//Library/Contextual Menu Items/
If you do, try dragging them onto your Desktop and then retry control-clicking.

Right click problem: I did not know about the Yahoo sidebar issue, I have removed all toolbars from my browser from 'view' menu. There is nothing in my 'extensions' to disable. Right click is not working. What to do?

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Control-click class references in Xcode 6.1 not working?

In Xcode 6.1 (6A1052d) when I control click on a class to search for methods, it gives me an Activity Indicator ( spinning bars, not beach ball), but it doesn't go any further than that. I've downloaded the documentation for OS X 10.10, iOS 8.1, and Xcode 6.1 through Preference->Downloads, and that didn't seem to help. Whether I'm online or offline, it only give me the Activity Indicator.
Is there something I might be missing, or a way to resolve this issue?

I haven't been able to recreate the issue since my reinstallation (which is good!), so I photoshopped an image together to show you what it looked like. When I clicked the lock on the top left, I received the "Untitled" warning.

Vibe Duo Headset clicker does not control *anything* anymore on 3Gs

I have spoken to several people on the internet in relation to this problem.
The iPhone 3Gs has been an awesome experience thus far, except for one minor (not minor for me, though...) issue.
My Vibe Duo earphones do not work with the 3Gs. That is to say, I can hear. And people can hear me using the mic. But the clicker does not control anything anymore on the 3Gs. Not sure what changed, but I hope it's a bug and is fixed soon?

Tab and control buttons do not work in Firefox (they work in other browsers) AND I switched to a new keyboard.

The tab and control buttons are not working the Firefox browser (My browser is up-to-date). The buttons work in IE and Chrome, however, before I realized that, I even switched out my keyboard to a brand new one hoping it would solve the issue.

Thank you--there were a few random extensions I had not added (spyware, maybe?). Once I removed those the issue was fixed!
