Control file not current

Hi Everyone,
I just restored my controlfile from autobackup in RMAN and after mounting the database with the restored controlfiles, I took a backup of archivelog and in the end a warning message has been displayed saying that the controlfile autobackup is possible as it is not the current. Can any one of you please explain the warning..
Thanks in advance for your help..

Thanks for the reply sir...Here are the details..
ORACLE VERSION -10G release 2 on windows vista home basic.
I have set the controlfile autobackup on in rman configuration
and performed some structural changes to the database, like added some tablespaces.
And went to rman to check the controlfile autobackup available by using list backup by file;
and after that i shutdown the database clean shutdown immediate.
and open rman restored spfile from autobackup
and restored controlfile from autobackup and mounted database.
and after that I issued an archivelog backup from time 'sysdate-2' until time 'sysdate'
and got he following warning which tells
Starting backup at 14-FEB-10

  • Watch folder "render control file not valid"

I'm using cc 2014 on my main workstation and render nodes. I can't get the render engine to accept a job because I get the "render control file not valid" error when setting the watch folder. But, I can use the render engine on my main workstation and the job will start just fine. That leads me to believe its a permissions problem, but all of my network computers are set up to work as a 3d animation render farm and it all works pretty well with all computers being able to read and write to each other with full permissions.
Is there anything else I can look at that might help? Thanks in advance.

  • Just upgraded my workstation and render nodes to AE CC 2014 and now I receive a "render control file not valid" upon rendering out.

I just upgraded my workstation and render farm to AE CC 2014 and now I receive a "render control file not valid" on my render nodes when I try and render out an image sequence. Any ideas why the update would cause this? All my machines are updated to the latest version of AE CC 2014. Thanks!

Sorry I meant "Update". I was using AE CC, Installed AE CC 2014 on all my machines recently.

    Hi Kuljeet,
    since you have a Windows system, I suggest you to open Windows explorer and check if all the 3 control files are there or not in the given location. It seems that your control01.ctl file is missing. If so then you have 2 options;
    1. Delete the entry from the parameter file for this control file so that Oracle does not use this file at all.
    OR
    2. Shut down your database normally and then copy the control02.ctl or control03.ctl manually with the copy command and rename it to control01.ctl. If you follow this option you need not delete the control01.ctl entry from the parameter file. But note to copy the control file the database has to be shutdown normally.

  • Strange Corrupt Block Error in Control File not in CONTROL_FILES

This control file is in the Oracle Windows default dir but I am not using it and did not create it.
My control files listed in the init.ora are:

    control_files string E:\ORACLE\ORADATA\EBIZ01PD\CNT

    IZ01PD\CNTRL02.DBF, E:\ORACLE\
    ORADATA\EBIZ01PD\CNTRL03.DBF
Any idea why this is happening?

That is a SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE, created by RMAN as a copy of the current controlfile.
Wonder how and why the copy is corrupted ? Check the timestamp of the file to see when it was created. A RESYNC will always create a fresh Snapshot Controlfile.

  • How to select/ show all files NOT currently in a Collection?

Is there an easy way to show all files in a catalog not currently assigned to ANY (non-smart) collection?
Can i set up a Smart Collection to do this?

thanks!  i should have mentioned that is the technique (excluding a,b,c,d,...) i currently use.
i rephrased the question more specifically, looking for a more elegant/ LR "aware" way of doing this over here:

  • Control file not found

    Post Author: vmt
    CA Forum: General
    I have a report that is written in Crystal Reports 8.5  It gets data from a SQL Server and compiled using Crystal Reports Compile and Distribution Utility (SCR8_distr_expert.EXE) ;
    I am successfully able to run the executable when copied to my local drive but not as a link when it is copied to a virtual drive on a apache web server or infact any web server. We receive 'Crystal Report Runtime Error' popup box with a message 'Control file cannot be found';
Does anyone know a fix for this?
    Thank you.

    METALINK your best firend :)
the problem was I choose a wrong backuppiece. Command list backup summary shows such a output :
    214 Full 145.97G SBT_TAPE 01:04:33 2010-01-27 22:11:40
BP Key: 214 Status: AVAILABLE Compressed: NO Tag: TAG20100127T210705

SPFILE Included: Modification time: 2010-01-27 16:10:19
List of Datafiles in backup set 214
so I corrected the value and then RMAN restored controlfile correctly.
The only question is why such a strange error message appears :)

  • Control file not updated till date in RAC two node database

    Hi,
    Good day.
To my surprise i found that control files, in our database RAC with two nodes, are not updated till date except one from node 1 and another from node 2.
But we got all the controlfile names in the init parameter file, in both the nodes.
    Node 1
    bash-3.00$ ls -lrt
    total 922128
    -rw------- 1 oracle dba 157286400 Nov 3 2007 cntrl03.dbf
    -rw------- 1 oracle dba 157286400 Nov 3 2007 cntrl02.dbf
    -rw------- 1 oracle dba 157286400 Apr 12 17:21 cntrl01.dbf
    Node 2
    bash-3.00$ ls -lrt
    total 922128
    -rw------- 1 oracle dba 157286400 Mar 30 09:17 cntrl03.dbf
    -rw------- 1 oracle dba 157286400 Mar 30 09:17 cntrl02.dbf
    -rw------- 1 oracle dba 157286400 Apr 12 17:20 cntrl01.dbf
As you could see cntrl01.dbf is the only file updated till date in both the nodes. The database is running fine.
    what is actually happening?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Balu.

As you're using RAC it is very likely that you are using an SPFILE.
Connect as a DBA account (or an account with SELECT ANY DICTIONARY privileges) in both the instances and do "show parameter spfile" and "show parameter control" (or query V$parameter)
It is likely that the spfile is referencing only 1 controlfile.

  • Render control file not valid for" project.aep -- Please Help!

    I'm using AE CC
I've read all the discussions I could find on this topic to fix this problem.
All my computers are mapped correctly. The file that I'm sending at this point is very basic.  Once jpg sequence (as a test) name shadowMatte - no spaces, underscores, very basic.
-The file is set for multimachine rendering in render queue
-I collected files with 'Collect Source Files: None' , Enable  'Watch Folder' render' checked
I'm not new to using multi machine rendering, this time around I just can't seem to get it to work...
all render slaves at least 8 gigs of ram.
Any help on this matter would be GREATly appreciated.

  • I recently purchased a camera that creates RAW files not currently acceptable to my PS CS5I downloaded Adobe Camera RAW 6.7 but can't get it to process my RAW files.

I am on a Mac running OS 10.9.5.  I run Photoshop CS5 12.1 x64. When I tried to download AdobeCamerRaw -6.7 I got a message the AdobePatchinstaller couldn't be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed.  I then changed the settings in my system preferences to permit the opening of the AdobePatchinstaller.  I then closed bridge and phootshop, restarted them, but no luck.  When I view my images in Bridge I see the thumbnails of my jpg images, but instead of thumbnails of the RAW images I just get a a thumbnail that says RAW and a picture of a jewelers loop over a couple of snapshots. I used Grab to capture that logo-like thumbnail, but can't get it into this page.

What brand and model of camera do you have?

  • How to make the control file consistent when I re-mulitplexing them

    Oracle 10g R2 on the AIX 5.3L
My current control files (three) from the default set-up are all located in the same directory (/dbbaan/oradata/<SID>/). If I want to change some of the multiplexing of the control file to different directory to avoid the media failure,
    1. I copy one or two control files to different directory.
    2. create a new init_sid.ora from spfile
    2. edit the init_sid.ora file and change the locations of the control file
    3. shutdown/restart the DB using the init_sid.ora.
    4. create the spfile from the pfile
5 shutdown/restart the DB with new spfile ( "SQL> startup")
My question is: since there is always time lag between copying and recreating the new init_sid.ora, while the control file(s) are constantly updating, how can Db guarrente the consistency of the DB when I restart the DB (the control file specified in the init_sid.ora may be some time old) ? or does it matter?
I did above and my DB restart without problem.

Another problem concerns me. What happen if one of
multiplexed control file location, which I use a NFS
of another server, goes down and is not available
during the operation ( After I restart up the DB)? I
am sure I will see the error of that control file in
the alert log.If one of the control files not accessible during operation, Oracle will crash. So you better make sure all of your control file location are reliable and accessible.

ORA-16146: standby destination control file enqueue unavailable
    thanks
    selva..

If you user this then a lot of information ( threads) can be found with the same problem.
    Anyway the original ORA-message/solution is:
    Error:     ORA-16146 (ORA-16146)
Text:     standby destination control file enqueue unavailable
Cause:     The target standby destination control file is currently
unavailable to the Remote File Server (RFS) process. This
indicates that the target destination is the primary database
         itself.
Action:     Check for and eliminate the standby destination archive log
         parameter in question.
This means you have an error in the log_archive_dest entries on the standby server.
Can you use Dataguard Manager (dgmgrl) to verify the configuration?
    Edit:
Our Dataguard config e.g. has on primary:
    log_archive_config='dg_config=(STDBY)'
    On the standby it is:
    log_archive_config='dg_config=(PRIMARY)'

  • "File Not Found" MPG4 / Protected (?) songs unable to play on PC or on iPod

I burned about 150 songs from my iTunes Music Library on another computer onto CDs and then inserted the CDs into a new computer with my iTunes Music Library on it. The songs on these CDs DO NOT play in the iTunes Library or on the iPod, although the track titles and artists appear on my computer screen and hence they look as though they are included in the Library. When I try to play those songs I get an error message with an exclamation mark next to the problem songs saying "File not found. Do you want to locate file?"
I tried the option to convert them to AAC but that does not work. Is it a copyright problem or a technical one?
    Many thanks for your replies!
      Windows XP

Checking the "copy" box will solve the problem for future importing but not the current problem.
You could do two things after checking the "copy" box:
    1) Delete the dead tracks and add them again from the CD(s).
    2) With the CD in the drive, select Consolidate library on the Advanced menu. This will copy all files not currently in the iTunes Music folder into the iTunes Music folder, you may not want that if you have your music in other places as well. Also if the music you want is on more than one CD you may get a lot of error messages as it tries to consolidate tracks it can't find.
One other thing - you mention protected files in the thread title, iTunes will not import files protected by other programs.
