Control Individual Speakers - Audigy 2

Hi,
I was wondering if it was possible in windows to control all the speakers volume. I don't mean just those settings in the creative volume control. I mean when your playing music can you be able to have all the speakers turned up full? When you put that play stereo acros all channels on it makes the front and sides pretty loud, but when you slide the slider to the back it makes the back louder at the expense of the front. I use Fedora as a second os and in the volume control there it has all these other volume controls including ones for individual speakers. So is it possible?

No thats not what i mean back speakers are faint side speakers are better front speakers are loud. That stereo focus slider is at 0%, i can increase it to the back more but thats not really what im looking for. In fedroa you can just crank up all the speakers individually. I would just use it for music but i really like using winamp.

Using airport utility to control multiple speakers at the same time

Can I use the aiport utility on my Ipod to control multiple speakers/airport express units at the same time? I am able to do this directly in ITunes but when I use my Ipod as the "remote" by using the airport utility it only seems to allow me to play music on one set of speakers at a time. If I stream music to one set of speakers and then select a different set it stops the music that was going to the first set in order to stream it to the second set. I hope that this is just user error and not a limitation of the airport utility because I just purchased a brand new Ipod in order to be able to do this (airport utility wasn't compatible with me 2nd Gen). Thanks in advance for any help!

If you have not already done so, now would be a good time to perform a complete power cycle of the entire network.
Power off all devices...modem, routers, computers, etc....in any order that you wish
Wait a few minutes
Power up the modem first, and let it run 2-3 minutes by itself
Power of the wireless router connected to the modem next the same way
Power of the other AirPort routers one at a time about a minute apart
Keep powering up devices one at a time about a minute apart until the entire network is back up
Check the network

How do I use airport extreme to control individual device access?

I don't understand how I can control individual device access to the web using my AirPort Extreme.
I set up the network on a PC (for technical reasons) but hoping to control access of individual devices (including a Mac but also iPods and iPads) to the web using an iPad (although can use the PC if necessary). I have downloaded AirPort Utility on the PC and an iPad but can't work out what to do next.
Can anyone please provide some instructions or point me in the right direction?

The AE has no controls except timed access to wireless.. is that what you are after??

I just changed the battery on my remote and the receiver blinks when I press a button on the remote but nothing happen no volume change or nothing.
Don't know what else I should do.

Yes, that's the way it works. The target tool is simply a way to pick a colour to modify, but all colours like that one, no matter where they are in the image, will be modified.

You can use the camera connection kit to connect, but there's no protocol for any sort of data or file transfer beyond properly named photos and videos. You can plug them in but they won't do anything.
The only printing the iPad natively supports is air print to specific printers, or printing to wifi printers with third party apps. You cannot use flash drives for data transfer (beyond the mentioned photos and videos)

Problems Controlling Line in - Audigy 4, Adobe Audition

Hello,
I just recently got Adobe Audition version 2.0. I have been running my mics through a Fender Passport PA head, then into my computer for a while, with my default soundcard and Acoustica Mixcraft.
Now, I have an Audigy 4 (with the little box thing) and am using Adobe Audition, and I can't control the line in volume. I have tried messing with all of the line levels with the Creative console, the default windows controls, and even a third-party volume control, none of which works.
Please, if anyone has any clue what's going on, I'd much appreciate some sort of solution. I'm trying to record drums, and they're LOUD.

Software based level controlling:
In Audition, use ASIO drivers.
When ASIO is used, you can control input/recording levels through Audition (if there is a control for this) and through Surround Mixer (or Windows Playback control panels) Line-In Source slider -> i.e. the "recording level" setting in surround mixer does not have effect when you're working in ASIO mode (neither has wave source slider).
Hmm.. can't you also use Mixcraft controls for this, if you have routed your mics through it?

I need to control the individual volumes of my running apps--not so much to fine-tune the volumes, but to mute specific apps. Rogue Amoeba's Detour was a champ at this, but it has been deprecated since the Intel switch. Is there anything else out there that can do the trick?

No. One app can't control other apps. There are some apps that do allow you to passwords protect that one app.

Controlling TV Speakers Indirectly with Apple Remote via System Volume

My Mac Mini is connected to a Sony TV via an HDMI cable. I would like to control the volume of the TV speakers indirectly by controlling the Mac Mini system volume with my Apple remote. But when I attempt to change the volume the speaker icon appears and is grayed out.
What do I need to do in order to control the TV speakers indirectly with my Apple Remote by adjusting the Mac Mini system volume?

As standard Macs do not support controlling the volume of an attached TV connected to the HDMI port. This feature is called CEC (Consumer Electronics Control).
There is at least one adaptor which can 'insert' the CEC commands, see http://www.pulse-eight.com/store/products/104-usb-hdmi-cec-adapter.aspx
This adaptor however requires the software you are using to have support for driving this adaptor, therefore it does not look like the generic Mac volume control in association with the Apple remote would control it. Why you ask did I mentioned it then? Well XBMC (XBox Media Center) for the Mac does supprt this adaptor, you can therefore use XBMC on the Mac to play movies to your TV and control the volume of the TV.
If you can write software, you could also in theory use their library to add a more generic volume control.

Only sound in the front speakers, AUDIGY 2

I own an Audigy 2 ZS, I have to format my machine and then reinstall my devices but when I play a DVD I don?t hear any sound in the rear speakers or in the center speaker, I activate CMSS and configure the speakers. When I test the speakers all of them are working, what can be the problem?

You need a software player (e. g. PowerDVD) or hardware who does decoding because the audigy does not do it (at least mine didnt).
With PowerDVD you would need to activate 6 channel output and dolby sourround in his options.
If you do not get it to run try it over coax but remember that you might have to activate coax in your softplayer as well.

How do I get control of my Audigy without loaging up all the old softwa

I've moved my Audigy to a new PC, but I don't want to install all the old applications (Remote, Playcentre, etc, etc). All I really want is the Creative Mixer, but you can't install that on its own from the web - you seem to have to install all the other rubbish that goes with it!
Anyone have any suggestions on how i can install the bare minimum to control my Audigy Platinum effecti'vely?

If you poke around the Multimedia and Audio section of the Windows Control Panel, you can find an option that says "Display volume control in System Tray". Enable that and you should be able to control most of the basic functions of the Audigy. The Windows Mixer will have an options menu that will allow you to choose which settings are shown.

I have a problem that has me at my wits end. At one time this was working perfectly for me. Now the ONLY thing that will not work is my Line-in to my Audigy 2NX. When I use the Line-in i only get sound from the front 2 speakers of my 5. sounds system.
Everything else works fine (Winamp, Media Player, etc). I have verified CMSS is enabled, removed and reinstalled the software, replaced the device with a new one, all the way to formatting and reinstalling my system. No matter what the line-in only plays from the front 2 speakers. Any help would be appreciated.

Can't Agree with you on that one Jeremy. I had had Creative Labs for the past 8 or so years. I went to USB after my SB audigy 2ZS?pci card. st was Sound Blaster Li've 24 bit external, got cmss upmix from the line in, was great to watch movies and tv. this current upgrade?I just got to audigy 2NX external, there is only stereo true, which is ashame and a sham.

Digital waveform generator has 8 channels. I need to generate two different signals to HSDIO. How to modify and control two different channels? Also, how to translate pin outs from PXI-6541 to channels? I need to control signal into pin 1,3,29,and 31 individually.

You must combine your individual data into an array. The digital waveform is simply a digital representation of the binary array. It still boils down to bit 0 of each array element going to channel 0 (or the first channel you specify in Create Dynamic Channels). The next bit goes to the next channel. My last post is quite clear. To display the array in binary, right click on an array element, then select Display Format, then select Binary. You can also right click on the element, select Visible, then select Show Radix to display the small b before the number. One more thing, in the Display Format window, uncheck the box next to Use minimum field width. Then set the numeric just under the box to 8. Then select Pad with zeros on left in the box below.
You should not use waveforms until you learn more about how the HSDIO operates on input data. It isn't hard to combine waveforms, but it also isn't as clear as using an array of U8 or U16 or U32.
Trying to explain further. The first number to be writen to the HSDIO will have this effect: Bit 0 (LSB) of the number gets written to the first HSDIO channel you specify. Bit 7 goes to the 8th channel you specify. If you don't specify 8 channels, the bits get ignored. So wiring in one number will produce only one bit on each channel. In other words, the number already combines the bits of all the channels you specify. You don't combine anything yourself. Look again at my picture on my last post. By wiring in an array, you cause a bit pattern to be generated.

Someone told me it was not possible because Java is machine independant, thus does not specify direct access of specific ports (because all machines are different)

Certainly, as far as NT/2000 is concerned, you can't write to any hardware ports form any program running in a user context(except legacy 16 bit applications, whose I/O is virtualised -that will be how your Pascal prgram works, I suspect).
To access the ports, you need a device driver. (written in 'C', I'm afraid.
I have a sample driver for you to modify (it was designed to allow JTAG programming using the prallel port, wher individual pin control is required.
The driver is opened using standard file open protocols, and the I/O is done using DevI/OCtl calls. I think these are accessible from JAVA, but you might need a thin 'C' layer in a DLL.
Hope this helps. I can't think of a simpler way. NT/200 was designed to stop user programs from directly accessing hardware, because of the damage it can do.

Controlling Individual Volumes in EASTWEST Silver Plugin

In Logic Pro 7, how can I get the mod wheel to control the volume of individual instruments within the EASTWEST Silver plugin? Right now I'm having to create multiple instances of the plugin for each instrument. Would like to get away from that (obviously). I see there is a controller assignments page under Preferences/Control Surfaces, but I don't understand how it works.

Thanks Victoria, here you go.
SSD is my root volume (most people would have "Macintosh HD" instead), so that is where /Users/… resides: so for example my home folder is at /Users/dave which is the same as /Volumes/SSD/Users/dave. You can see that saving from PS has made LR think I have image folders at /Users/… when I do not, and never have. You can see below "SSD" is the volume "Users" where the real image folders live (an external Firewire drive in this case).
I have expanded "Show Parent" to the root of each volume in that screenshot.
So under SSD, "/Users/Lightroom Photos 2/…" is bogus and under Users "Lightroom Photos 2" is legitimate.
