Control iView from another iView

Hi,
I would like to know, how I can control on iView from another iView. Is there any HowTo-Guide about this? Or a simple example, maybe a list of links in one iView and the displaying of those links in the other iView.

I have just installed Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 on my PC Windows XP , created database and configured DB control
I can open Database Control Webpage on the database machine by typing

But can not open it from another PC
When I do following from another PC
1. http://USI2374993VND0.vlgdw2k.visteon.com:1158/em
Get error: [code=DNS_NO_DATA] The IP address was not found during the DNS lookup. Contact your system administrator.
2. http://136.18.70.189:1158/em
Get error:Can not display web page
I can ping 136.18.70.189 but not USI2374993VND0.vlgdw2k.visteon.com
On the other PC I also tried adding 136.18.70.189 to
tools - internet options - security - local internet - sites - advanced - add this web
site to the zone as http://136.18.70.189
But it did not work
Please help with any ideas

How to open the 10g Database Control Webpage from another computer ?

it is a freshly installed Oracle 10gR2 EE on windows xp professional.. all settings are default by installer.
i can open the Database Control Webpage on the database machine by typing http://localhost:1158/em in IE.
however when i try to open it from another pc on the same LAN by using http://database_pc_ip_address:1158/em in IE, it says the page can not be found.
what else need to be done before i can open the Database Control Webpage from another PC?

You have a configuration problem on your database machine, LOCALHOST is resolved to the internal loopback address 127.0.0.1, not to the actual IP-Address of the machine. Such a configuration works only locally, for remote access you have to specify a hostname known to the network. Check the installation guide for the correct setup (machines connected to a network or not, DHCP or not):

Cover flow into album art and how to control iTunes from another app.

Hi all 2 areas of concen, one is coverflow/ album art and the other is itunes controller:
I have searched but cannot find the answer to this:
1) I have some songs with album info already, and I used iTunes to get the album art for coverflow etc. ... some songs from the same album did not have the album category filled in, I go back and fill it in: now how do I get iTunes to recognize the album art so it shows up for the newly corrected songs?
2) In coverflow, iTunes picked the wrong album cover, can I manually fix it/pick the right one?
3) will coverflow only show album art for those albums recognized by iTunes, or will it use album art that I get from other sources and add manually? And what will show up in my ipod?
and lastly
4), is there anyway to control iTunes without switching apps (if I am working in Word or safari and want to skip a song, etc)...is there an overlay controller?

AS1/2 - need help controlling mc from another mc

I'm mostly a point-and-click user of flash. I'm in CS5 and have built a simple flash website (with A/S1-2) having a primary swf (content.swf) and other transparent swf (home.swf, contact.swf, etc.) that load in for each menu button. When another menu button is clicked, my A/S instructs to unload all mc's from level 1 and load in the next swf in that same level.
My challenge. I need to have a button in "home.swf" go to, say, "contact.swf". How can this be done?

You can probably use whatever you have now though it may require and added argument or so (unless you don't understand what you have now). The main file as it currently is could load sections based on a function being passed an argument that identifies which section is to be loaded. So you click a button and that button calls the loading function, passing the name of the file that will be loaded. The main file's function does the loading work. Your loaded section(s) can do the same by using a _root reference to call that function (or possibly a _level0 reference).

How do I apply properties to a control refnum from another VI and whose type I know?

I have programmatically retrieved the Control refnum of a Table running on a separate VI. I search for its name and when match ocurrs I would like to use its control refnum to change som cell values in it by either the Invoke node or Property node. Nevertheless even though I know it is a Table I am not allowed to wire the control refnum to a property node with "Active cell", "BG color" et.c. I am not either allowed to wire it to an Invoke node with the method "Set Cell Value".
Is there a work around for this?

Controling computer from another country.

Hello, Friday I leave for Sweden to visit family. I can't get all the work done on my Mac before I go. I would like to run down to the Apple Store and get Apple Remote Desktop and was wondering if it would work for my needs before I do.
At the house. I have a static IP address that I pay $90 a month for. This connects a D-link wireless router which I have a wireless card installed on my G5 tower. The D-link assigns an IP address such as 192.168.0.101. My Static IP address is something like 65.28.244.25 (That's not it, just an example)
Using my Laptop in Sweden can I access the my tower running through the d-link?

You probably don't need Remote Desktop, using a free VNC application will likely suit your needs. You will need to set up port forwarding on your D-Link to make it work though.

Controlling MC from another MC

Hi all,
I'm a noob but tried google and manuals but can't find the answer which will probably be simple.
I have 3 movieclips in frame 1 main timeline.
The instance names are mc1, mc2 and mc3.
When mc1 is at the end, mc1 has to go to frame 2 but mc2 has to go to the next frame and stop.
Then when mc1 is at the end again the same has to happen.
On the last frame of mc1 timeline I have:
gotoAndPlay(2);
But with which line of code will mc2 go to it's next frame?

its important that ypu place the abobe posted code inside a Enterframe function, otherwise it will only be triggered once at the start of yur app, like so:

Need call a method of one iview from another iview

Hi,
There are 2 iviews in a component.
1) FirstView - contains abc() method & xyz() methods
2) SecondView (a popup) - asdf() method
i want to call abc() method from asdf() method. i.e. i want to call a method of the firstview from the secondview.
Note:
1) i couldn't able to copy the code of abc() method to component controller, as it has the code which uses (iview) local attributes (this can be done by context mapping) & main reason is from the method it calls the xyz() method of the same view (again i couldn't call a method of iview from component controller).
2) firstView contain 5 tabs, i want to be in the same tab from which secondview (popup) was called, if i use fire plugs between both view, the current tab will be chnaged (i suppose, not sure).
3) can we use event handlers, if yes how can we do that.
Please provide a better solution for calling a method of view from another view.

Hi Maha,
It is better to have such methods in the component controller to make it reusable and avoid writing same code again and again.
You can have that method in component controller and call that method on click on a button from Iview1 and can pass the parameters in the mthgod only.
for example.
Say Method abc() which is currently in Iview1 and you are passing values from context say aa bb cc to the method now what i am suggesting is
have that method abc(String aa, String bb, String cc) ;
and call it on click on button in Iview1 and pass the required parameters.

You can do it manually, but it is much simpler if you use a tool such as Back To My Mac, LogMeIn, or something like that. Those programs enable you to connect to your computer through your router without you having to adjust the router settings manually.

Control access of a form from another form.

Please help me .
This is a system which contains a lot of forms (more than 100) . The system administrator can specify whether a user can insert, update,delete or query for each form (this varies for each user). So, when a user logs in and calls a form i have to enable / disable the insert, update,delete or query according to the user who has logged in and the privileges the system administrator has given for that form.
i used the call_form method with query_only mode and no_query_only(normal mode) option . The normal mode allows insert,update,delete and query together but i want the user to insert into database without querying any of the records.
So, in short , i would like to know if i can enable/disable insert,update,delete & query of a called form(Form B) from calling form (Form A) without having to modify (Form B) and without issuing any grant statements in the database side ? Is there any option like the one in the call form method?

yes, set form property and set block property can be used when i want to enable / disable insert in the current form. But, what if i want to control enable/disable insert from another form (the main form) ????
Can i pass parameters ? without making any change in the current form.

Controlling a SubVI with while loop from another VI

Dear All,
this might be an easy Question but i couldn't catch an answer for it.
first of all i have a VI which i will use as a subVI , this VI is simply as shown in the "test_out of scope.vi" attached file
now i will use it inside another VI called "Main VI" as shown in the file "Main_VI.vi"
i'm just wondering , why couldn't i control the "Frequency" and "Stop" as i can do so while running the SubVI only without accessing it from another VI ?
isn't it possible to access objects inside a while loop from another VI if i just connected them in the connection Pane terminals ??

Do you need the sub-vi to run iterations for an undertermined period of time?
If so, then why not implement it as a parallel loop to the main one. Maybe part of a consumer loop.
If not. Where the main loop would take care of each iteration and call the sub-vi in one shot. Then no need for a loop in the sub-vi.
It's all a matter of how you want the software to behave. Have you looked at Event Structures?

For that, you need the external class to have the reference to your element.. If your idea is to change basic properties like width, height etc.. then you can have the constructor of the external class to take the object of the parent of your class as the parameter and modify ..
However, if the properties to be altered/accessed are custom to your element, then you will have to have the class accept an object of your class as the parameter. No other option..

Can multiple users access apps purchased from another Apple ID account?

I have several iMacs under my control. I need to find a way to download iLife using one Apple ID, so I can have all users on each machine to also have access to the updated iLife suite.
Is it possible for other users to access an app that was purchased from another Apple ID. If one purchases an app, does the machine allow access to all the users?
(I know those two last sentences are redundant, but I want to make sure everyone understands problem).
I've read countless articles on this, and can't seem to catch a break from the problem.

If this is in a school of some type or a corporate learning center with multipple Mac computers you should contact Apple directly and ask them for help in getting a version that can be installed on multiple Mac with out have to down the updates to each computer individually.
