Can not control / observe when no user logged in

Been fighting this for weeks. Searched the forum but found no relief.
Using ARD 3.2 we can control / observe from our office to several workstations both in our same building and in other offices around the country. On all but one we can control / observe regardless of whether or not a user is logged in. On those, when a user is not logged in, we see the workstations' login window. We can login, etc. On only one machine, which is running 10.4.11, we can control / observe ONLY when a user is logged into it. If no user is logged in we get an "unable to connect" from ARD. Call someone in that office, ask them to login, and immediately we can control / observe that workstation. We highly doubt a port forwarding / router / firewall issue since if it were, we suspect that we'd never be able to observe / control. It appears as though ARD ON THE WORKSTATION is getting disabled at user log out... BUT ONLY ON THIS ONE WORKSTATION! Any ideas, folks? Your help would be appreciated.

Silly me! This one workstation connects via wireless connection, only. We had set, "Disconnect from wireless networks when I log out" in the wireless network's connection settings. All is well now.

Can you force ARD to ask permission before control/observing *AND* still be able to push updates/patches?

Is there a way to force ARD to ask permission before observing/controling a computer AND still be able to push updates/patches to the computer?
I know we can't be the only ones who have this dilemma so I'm hoping someone has a solution.
ARD version 3.
OS 10.6.8 (ARD machine) and 10.6-10.7 client Macs
Each remotely monitored computer has an admin account that ARD uses to inventory and update the machines. Let's call it ADMIN. Of course each computer also has a local (non-admin) account let's call USER.
When USER is logged in, we'd like ARD to always ask permission before observing and/or controlling the computer. We found we can replicate this by removing the ADMIN login and password from the info tab of the computer in question as well as turning on the 'Any guest may request permission' setting. Unfortunately we found this also removes the ability of ARD to start a chat session with the computer - even with the chat option checked on in ARD settings (system preferences). To push updates/patches we have to put the ADMIN account information back into computer info tab.
Basically it boils down to giving the end user the privacy they would like (not being viewed without warning) while they're logged in vs. allowing the IT department to update the computers when necessary.
With the ADMIN login and password entered into the computer's info tab we're able to observe/control without warning. We changed the client settings for that computer via ARD to always request permission but this didn't work while the ADMIN login and password were still entered in the info tab. Once we removed the information we were prompted to ask permission but that's because we were essentially an unknown guest.
It appears to be an either/or situation right now. Either you give the user privacy and always ask permission or you give the IT department the rights to observe a machine and push updates. Because once we put the ADMIN information back into the info tab, we can observe without permission again.
When USER is logged in, always ask permission to control/observe. But still be able to push updates. If ADMIN is logged in or no one is logged in, don't ask to control/observe.
Has anyone found a workable solution for this question?

Start Screen Sharing Connection in Observe Mode?

Hi,
I've been able to add the toolbar button to switch screen sharing between the control and observe modes using tips I've found around the web.
I need to be able to check on what's going on with one of the computers on my home network without taking control of the mouse and keyboard.
Screen sharing defaults to control mode on connection, does anyone know if there's a way to make it default to observe or if not then to start a specific connection in observe?

After I click on control or observe a blank window pops-up. The computer I am trying to control is still running ARD 2.2.1 but I cant update it since I dont have a visual.

No Control Panel? Windows 8.1

I just upgraded to windows 8.1 pro 64bit but i don't get the option to install the control panel.
Sound card: PCI Express X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Series
I installed these drivers:
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium stuurprogramma (for windows 8.1)
Creative ALchemy 1.45.01
On windows 7 64bit i didn't have this problem.
I just had to install this driver:
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium stuurprogramma 2.17.0008
And during the installation i got the option to install like 8 different programs to install for my soundcard including the Control Panel wich i pretty much only care about
For the windows 8.1 driver i got the option to only install 3 programs in installed them all but no control panel.

You may want to reinstall the drivers again. From the details section, it did mention that the driver includes Creative Audio Control Panel in Win 8.1.

Problem with Office 2007 whenever I install the iCloud Control Panel for Windows

Sadly I have a Win7 laptop as my work hack and am using Office 2007. Outside of work I use iCloud to sync calenders between various iOS/OS X devices however whenever I install the iCloud Control Panel for Windows Plugin my email no longer loads. Outlook starts fine and just sits there with an empty inbox waiting for mail to load. I can't even open the iCloud Panel from within Control Panel either to set preferences!
Unistalling the iCloud plug-in resolves this but I really want to sync my iCloud calender with Outlook and can't see any other way to do it, plus it worked before and then just stopped.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

I tired everything that was suggested in the forum. Tried IE and firefox to no avail. When I tried computers in stores both worked. A friend of mine who has the 32 bit setup got it to work. Several folks have stated it is the compatability issue with 64 bit. As a last resort, I loaded safari on my home computer, and yep, it works. Go figure, apple product.

ICloud Control Panel for Windows will not install on Win 7 64-bit

I already installed iTunes 10.5 and I downloaded the iCloud Control Panel for Windows and when I tried installing it I got the following error message:
I cannot find a a 64-bit of iCloud (if that is what I need). The 64-bit iTunes installed ok. What am I doing wrong?

I don't know how to answer that question, Rob, or why I would be able to. Obviously people will have different configutrations. It really just points to the question I am asking. I can only assume Adobe hasn't tested it thoroighly enough and is not making any effort to find out why, which suggests to me they don't really care enough about their users to bother. This issue has been raised often enough and nothing has been done.

Usage Tracking - Access problem when Authentication Mode = Windows

I´m working on UPK Usage Tracking configuration, in order to provide the finished training material.
1) In Server01 (on Window Server 2003) the UPK Usage Tracking is installed
2) In Server02 (also on Windows Server 2003) the Usage Tracking database is installed
3) By accessing the configuration file (http://Server01/ODSTrack/configuration/setup.aspx) on Server01,I setup the Authentication Mode = Forms
Note: The rest of the configurations were done.
4) Once the configuration from step 3 is done, I execute the traning material (on Server01) from another node of the windows network
and as a result I´m able to perform it.
5) I access the Statistc data on Server01 by accessing the file (http://Server01/ODSTrack/admin/default.aspx)and I´m also able to see the results.
6) When I execute the step 3 but with Authentication Mode = Windows, and including the GROUP name (windows group specially created for this goal where my user is included),
- I still have access to the training material (step 4)
- I have NO aceess to the statistics data any more (step 5) and the following message is display
"You do not have permission to access this page. Please contact your Usage Tracking Server Administrator to update your permissions. "
I don´t know what else I can do, and I wonder if some other configurations need to be done at windows network and/or explorer lever or any other.
Any help would be appreciated.

This problem was solved by reconfiguring Usage Tracking in the authentication method (was anonymous and the solution was Windows integrated).
It is important to count on people from your organization working on Networks with some knowledge in IIS.

PID control in a windows CE Labview application

Hi there,
I want to build an application that will control the temperature in some ovens, using PID control. The application will be running in a controller (or a touch panel computer) with windows CE OS. I have Labview 8.6, PID control toolkit 8.6 and Touch panel module 8.6. The problem is that the PID vi's don't seem to work in touch panel module.
Is there any way to implement PID control in a windows CE Labview application?

I think with a timed loop you can run reasonable good timing down to 1 mSecond. I think 1 mSecond is the lower limit for non realtime systems like Windows/windows CE. And if you have the PID toolkit this will supply you with the functions you need. You do not need an extra CE PID toolkit. This because the touch panel module run under your standard Labview environment. But I do not know if all the functions in the PID tool like fuzzy logic are compatible with CE. Have you also considered Windows Embedded as OS for your module. With windows Embedded you can run standard Labview built exe files

User Control Settings in Windows 7

I want to change the user control settings in Windows 7. I can move the control setting, but when I click OK, the change isn't implemented. It doesn't matter what user account I'm in.
Is this a simple fix?

Something like this occurs when you install Office 97 (KB978591). Maybe that fits? If not, try the "Fix it" anyway. It won't hurt anything.

Do you mean the general System Preferences icon? ...If so, it's possible to put the icon specifically for the Mission Control pane in the Dock:
I'm on Mountain Lion and that Preference Pane is in: Macintosh HD > System (not Users) > Library > PreferencePanes > Expose.prefPane
...Drag that Expose.prefPane to the right-hand side of the Dock, say, next to the Trash. Then you can simply click on the resulting Expose Prefs icon in the Dock to open its Prefs panel.
