Control of Inspection Lot Creation in Material Master settings

Hi
There are settings like
1 for each  document material,  batch ,storage location
2 for each   material,  batch ,storage location .
X for PO  , batch and storage location .
for each material document item
In the Control inspection settings of material master
i Can't understand the logic by F1 help .
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks
JJ

Dear JJ
These setting are done for controling the creation of inspection lots
1) If you want to create an inspection lot to all the goods receipt then you have to choose
' ' An inspection lot for each material document item .An inspection lot is created for each item in the goods receipt document.
2) X for PO , batch and storage location .
An inspection lot is only created during the first goods receipt for each PO item . Means if you have a PO item with quantity 50. and you make a GR for the same PO for 10 quantity an inspection lot will be created. But if you make again GR for the PO item inspection lot will not be created. Those item will go directly to unrestricted. This holds good if the PO item is same, batch number is same and aslo the storage location
3) 2 for each material, batch ,storage location
If you set this indicator, the system creates only one inspection lot for each material and batch. This setting is only advisable for materials with a batch management requirement. Again material, batch number and storage location should be same
4) '1'  for each document material, batch ,storage location
If you set this indicator, the system creates only one inspection lot for a material document (in a goods receipt transaction) for each material. This setting is useful, if several purchase orders or partial deliveries are processed for the same material in a goods receipt transaction.
hope this helps

  • Control of Inspection Lot Creation (Lot Summary) in Material Master

    Dear Experts,
I would like to set the "Control of Inspection Lot Creation" to '1' An inspection lot for each material document and material"
But according to Help (F1), the lot summary is not supported ship the stock to unrestricted-use for skip lot.
<If you have made settings for the lot summary, no ship to stock takes place for skip lot. That is to say, the stock type is not immediately changed from "in quality check" to "unrestricted-use".>
Any idea to solve this problem?
    Thank you very much.
    Regards,
    Wong

    Dear Wong
If both a skip lot and an automatic usage decision occur, the system performs a ship to stock without posting the material into the quality inspection stock. The ship to stock does not take place during inspection lot summary.
It seems the '1' An inspection lot for each material document and material" is creating an inspection lot summary by which it is preventing the ship stock movements. I have tested with this and found that this works only for  each material document only
The solution could be run a program in the backgroud setting the automatic UD so that the skip lots are cleared at the earliest. you can do this with the help of QA17, QA16

  • Inspection lot creation during GR with respect to Purchase Order

    Dear Experts,
    Here is my Question
Inspection lot creation during GR with respect to Purchase Order
Inspection type 01 set in the material master
inspection lot will be created during GR for a Purchase order
from my understanding for every GR a inspection lot will be created
    No batch Management
but the requirement is irrespective to GR qty and number of times of GR
we need inspection only one inspection lot
    For Instance
There is a PO for 1000 kg no batch management
now i do GR for 100 kg for 10 times with different dates
now i need to have only one inspection lot
not 10 inspection lot for each 100 kg
can any one suggest a solution, please advise my understanding is correct
    Many thanks
    Raj

    Dear Raju,
There is a solution for that .The setting can be done two ways, either in the material master or in the configuration
    1) Material Master
MM02> QM View> Inspection Setup> 01> Control Insplot> 'X' An inspection lot for each purchase order item/order item 0r  An inspection lot for each material document and material
    a) 'X' An inspection lot for each purchase order item/order item
    This Means
This setting is limited for use with the inspection lot origins 01 and 04.
An inspection lot is only created during the first goods receipt for each PO item or production order.
    b) '1' An inspection lot for each material document and material
If you set this indicator, the system creates only one inspection lot for a material document (in a goods receipt transaction) for each material. This setting is useful, if several purchase orders or partial deliveries are processed for the same material in a goods receipt transaction.
    2) You can do this default in the config
SPRO > Quality Management >  Quality Inspection > Inspection lot creation >  Define Default values for inspection type > 01> Control Insp lot
    Hope this helps

  • Quality inspection lot creation at  GIR

    Dear MM/QM guru's........
Can you explain me in bref wat are the customizing setting in Quality managemnt and MM for creation of inspection lot the moment you go GIR and how to release the inspection lot..
    Reagrds
    SARFRAZ

    hi sarfrazny,
first you have to activate the QM view in material and activate the inspection type in the material master .
    inspection plan to be prepared
as soon as you process the the GIR a inpection lot will be created for which you have to record the result .
    kindly look into this
    <b>Inspection for a Goods Issue</b>
    Purpose
The system can automatically create an inspection lot when a goods issue is posted in the system. A goods issue can be posted internally (for example, a material withdrawal from the warehouse) or to an external destination (for example, a goods issue to a customer). In a goods issue, the materials are usually withdrawn from unrestricted-use stock and posted to a cost center, project, customer, or other account assignment object. When the system creates an inspection lot for a goods issue, the inspection lot is not stock relevant.
    Prerequisites
The system creates an inspection lot automatically for a goods issue if the following conditions have been met:
In Customizing for Inspection Lot Creation (Inspection for a Goods Movement) QM is active for the movement type.
QM is active for the material. This means that in the inspection settings of the material master:
In Customizing for Inspection Lot Creation (Inspection for a Goods Movement) QM is active for the movement type.
An inspection type is active for inspection lot origin 02 (goods issue)
The other indicators for the inspection type are set appropriately to meet your requirements for inspection processing (for more information, see Processing Inspection Settings)
    Process Flow
The system creates an inspection lot automatically when the goods issue is posted in Materials Management (MM).
If the inspector will record results for inspection characteristics (controlled by the inspection settings in the material master), the system assigns an inspection specification (for example, a task list or material specification) to the inspection lot. If the system cannot find a specification or if more than one inspection specification is assigned to the material, you must assign a specification to the inspection lot manually.
If dynamic modification criteria are defined for the inspection lot origin or task list usage, the system checks the existing quality level for the material (and the other criteria, if applicable):
If a quality level is not available, the system creates one.
If the dynamic modification rule specifies that the quality level must be updated when the usage decision is made, the system does not update the quality level now.
If the dynamic modification rule specifies that the quality level must be updated when an inspection lot is created, the system updates the quality level now.
The system calculates the sample size.
If the sample calculation must be triggered manually (controlled by the inspection settings in the material master), you must call up the inspection lot in the change mode and choose the function to trigger the sample calculation manually.
If you are going to inspect the goods in the inspection lot using an inspection specification:
The system can print out the inspection instruction and/or sample-drawing instruction automatically when the inspection lot is created
You can print out the inspection instruction and/or sample-drawing instruction manually when you call up the inspection lot in the change mode
    Result
You can use the information in the sample-drawing instruction and inspection instruction as a guide to:
Draw and prepare the samples at the work centers specified for each operation
Inspect the goods in the inspection lot
    Record characteristic results and/or defects
When you have finished recording inspection results and/or defects, you can complete the inspection.
    Result
When you have finished recording inspection results and/or defects, you can complete the inspection.
    regards

  • Inspection Lot creation when COGI in REM

When there any errors (COGI) during GR-REM (MFBF), it is observed that system is not creating the inspection lot. can anyone help me explaning this behaviour
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Raghava

    Hello Raghava,
In the material master for the inspection type if in the Control insLot  the setting maintained is an inspection lot for each material document item  or an inspection lot for each material document and material or an inspection lot for each material and batch then the lot will be created with the material document .
in other words creation of the material document will be the triggering point for lot creating for this setting .  As during the goods movement error the material document is not created hence the lot is not created .
I hope the information helps.  Let us know if you need any further info .
    Cheers

  • Inspection lot creation for inspection type 05

    Hi Gurus,
We have finished material FERT & semifinished material HALB.We have assigned insp. type 02 & 05 in material master of matl. HALB.When we create production order for FERT & confirm the order , inspection lot is generated for matl.HALB of inspection type 02.
Now we are reversing the goods issue by movement type mb1a, movement 262.In customizing for movement 262 inspection lot origin 05 is assigned.
My problem is that when i reverse the goods issue with mvmt.262, inspection lot is not created for insp. type 05. What should be the reason behind this? or are any changes to be done to above setting?
    Regards
    Ram

    Hi Ram,
Just check the SPRO setting SPRO---> Quality Management ->Quality Inspection->inspection lot creation--->inspection for goods movement --->deactivate quality inspection for a movt type.
Here against movt type 262 uncheck the QM not active tick.
    It will solve your problem.
    Cheers,

    Dear Experts,
we have the requirement of Creating the Inspection lot for the 103 movement type. we have done all the necessary settings for 103 movement type (in OMJJ and under the node   Quality Management --> Quality Inspection -->Inspection Lot Creation -->Inspection for Goods Movements) but still I am unable to achieve the results. Same is happening for 105 movements.
Kindly let us know what settings need to be done in order to achieve the same.
Full points will be awarded for the reply

    Hi,
If you have activated two inspection types (eg 01, 0101) of same inspection lot origin (01), in material master you should  have a preferred indicator set for the inspection type for which you want to be selected when you perform goods receipt.
This check box is available in the inspection type set up in the Material master.
Also check whether the post to inspection stock indicator is set for the material (in the inspection type), then only material will be posted to inspection stock.
Please confirm, what happens to the stock after making MIGO. check in MMBE and confirm
Go through the link and maintain the necessary settings. I think default settings for 01 type should work.

  • Inspection Lot Creation after GR

    Dear PP/QM Masters,
I have question regarding inspection lot creation after goods receipt.
There will be GR once at the end of the shift with batch number. As batch generated during shift will be different, there will be multiple GR entry. But for every material only one result recording per shift is required and not for all batches generated. So, how to avoid creation of so many inspection lot? Automatic Inspection lot creation is required hence no question of manual creation of inspection lot.
I checked function module ‘QAPP_CUST_IP_CREATE’ for inspection point functionality but its description “You can use the available function module to generate inspection points for the inspection during production already when the inspection lot is created.” Can I use function module ‘QAPP_CUST_IP_CREATE’ for restricting creation of inspection lot after GR?
Request all Masters to help me in solving this.
    Thanks and regards,
    Devang

    Dear All,
First of all thanks a lot for your response.
I checked ‘Control Inspection Lot’ setting but even that can not solve my problem as in our case though GR with confirmation will be once in a shift (though in system shift is not defined) but batches will be different and hence material document will be separate. And requirement is to have single inspection lot per shift even if batches and material documents are separate.
One option is to have multiple line items for GR in MB31 or MIGO or in COR6N. But all this transaction allows only one line item for GR against process order. So, can you suggest any function module or option to have multiple line items for GR.
    Thanks and regards,
    Devang

  • Inspection type 01 - inspection lot creation based on vendor batch number

    Hi Guys,
this topic has been discussed several times here, but I was not able to find a suitable answer for my question.
I am facing the folowing requirement:
I have activated inspection type 01 for a raw material.
I am receiving a firs goods receipt from vendor A with vendor batch number 0001.
The system creates its own goods receipt batch number 0546 based on internal numbering.
A new inspection lot is created.
I am posting a second goods receipt from vendor a with vendor batch 0001.
The system creates a new batch number 0547 based on internal numbering.
A new inspection lot is created.
I do not want to get the second inspection lot, because I received vendor batch 0001 before and I am assuming it has been inspected or is in inspection.
Option 1: Post the second goods receipt against the first internal batch number created.
I am aware of this need at the moment, but a user is not always checking if there is an internal batch with the same vendor received before.
Can I customize the system to create inspection lots based on the fact that the vendor batch number was received before?
Or do I have to use an exit and some ABAP code to get the wanted result?
Thanks for your advice in advance.

You need to use one of the enhancements that Do-Wook has suggested.  There is no standard SAP way to suppress the inspection based on the vendor batch number.
With the first enhancement you use the system to check for a previously received vendor batch and if one is found, then that batch number is proposed and not the next one from the numbering series.  In this case, the lot isn't created than due to the inspection lot control of the inspection type.
With the second enhancement you check the vendor batch number and if it's been received you suppress the inspection lot creation and the stock goes right to unrestricted.
You'll probably need to do one or the other.  Myself, I prefer the first enhancement.

  • Restrict Inspection Lot Creation

    My scenario is
    For a material u2013 XXXXXXX
I have activated inspection type 01.
    I have Two Storage location namely  0001 & 0002
Now as I do GR against PO, I want that Inspection lot of this material should only be created ,If I select storage location 0001.
If I select storage location 0002 , no inspection lot should get created.
Do we have Any Standard Process to achieve this. ???

    Hello Mayank,
if you want to control the creation of weather an inspection lot is created dependent on the storage location of the GR I would strongly recommend using the EXIT QAAT0001 where you can check MSEG-LGORT and dependent on the value set the flag E_NO_INSPECTION which will avoid that an inspection lot is created. The exits needed ate EXIT_SAPLQAAT_002 and EXIT_SAPLQPL1_005, please don't forget to set E_TQ32 = I_TQ32 in the exit or you will recieve an error.
    Hope this helps you

  • Auto Inspection Lot Creation.

    Dear Expert,
I have created new inspection type as Z01 by copying the 01 and I have maintain Inspection Lot Origins and Assign Inspection Types under 01. After that I have assigned my new inspection type Z01 to material master and activated it with material post to quality. Up to this it is working fine but after GRN system is not creating the lot. Even thou material is posting to the quality stock but no lot is in QA32.
But if I Create the lot wih QA01 it working fine and I'm able to do the UD also. But for no automatic lot generated for purchase order.
Please provide the details how to resolve this issue?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Manish

    Dear Manish
These are the procudural steps when going to create a new inspection type
    1) Maintain task list usage - SPRO> QM> Quality Planning > Inspection Planning> General> Define task list usages
    2) Maintain inspection type - SPRO> QM> Quality Inspection > Inspection Lot Processing > Inspection Lot Creation > Maintain inspection types (for eg Z89) - Also maintain the task list usage here
    3) Maintain Quality inspection lot origins and assign inspection types - SPRO> QM > Inspection Lot Processing > Inspection Lot Creation > Maintain inspection lot origins and assign inspection types
    4) Define default values for inspection type - SPRO > QM> Quality Inspection > Inspection Lot Processing > Inspection Lot Creation > Define default values for inspection type
    5) please check for any user exits in MIGO which have been used which is creating any issues.

  • Manual Inspection lot creation

    Hi,
In our scenario, there is customer inspection which is done after the final inspection.
For this I have configured manual inspection lot creation after the final inspection.
I expect that if a lot exists for a Sales order, it should not allow PGI for delivery.
    How can I set this?
    Regards
    Ramakanth

With manual inspection, it may not be possible. But it possible by using standard inspection type 10.For this activate the insp type 10 in material master QM view and create the master data (insp plan). or you can use the same inspection as used for 04 insp type. For this do necessary config changes. Also in QM config, assign insp lot origin 10 to the delivery type used by SD(Std is LF).

  • Inspection lot creation not required for intercompany Stock transfer order

    Hi Team,
The client  does not want system to create inspection lots for inter comapny STO. But for intra STO system does not create the inspection lot and thye are happy with it.
I have have flagged the indicator "QM not active' for the movement type
101 entry as below at transaction code OMJJ.
101  B(goods movement for Purchase Order) X(Stock Transport Order)
Even after flagging the above indicator, system is still creating the inspection lot at the time of GR for InterCC STO.
Are you aware any other place to control inspection lot creation for Inter company STO.
    Thanks & Regards
    Mangesh

The ispection types assigned to the material are given below.
    Z05 Goods Return Inspection(copy of 05)
    Z09 Shelf life extension Inspection(copy of 09)
    Z89 Inspection for Quality Assurance(copy of 89)
Z90 Goods Receipt  for Trading goods( It is a copy of 01 inspection type)

  • Stock Transfer to quality without Inspection lot creation

    Hi,
I want to do stock transfer from unrestricted stock of Plant A to quality stock of Plant B. However I don't want inspection lot to be created.
    Is this possible?
I am using Movement type 301 and Inspection Lot of type 08 is active in Material Master.
If I deactivate QM for movement type, can I post to quality without inspection lot creation.
    Thanks

Do you have any inspection type setup for material in plant B? If yes then you would be not able to transfer stock in QI without creating an inspection lot. If inspection type is active in material master of plant B(destination) then system would through you error message saying - "transfer stock in QM only". The reason is you would not have an option to move stock from QI using 321 (QI to UNR) in plant B if QM is active. 321 managed by an insp lot.
If inspection type is not setup in material master at plant B then you would be able to post stock in QI without creating an inspection lot. Then move stock from QI to UNR using 321 (MB1B).
    Hope this clarify you.

  • Creation of Material Master for a material with Material Type NLAG

    Hello Sirs,
I have to create a material which will be consumed directly. I would use the
material type NLAG (Non stock material). If I create a material with this material type, will it contain an Accounting view where in I can maintain the price of the
material? If it contains an Accounting view, which type of Price control should be
used (Moving average or Standard)? Further, can we maintain an info record for
a material with material type NLAG?How the price updation happens?

    Hi Madhu,
Thanks for your reply. But, I have one more doubt. For non stock materials, we
will specify the cost centre and G/L account at the time of creation of Purchase order. Then, do we have to specify the valuation class at the time of creation of
Material Master since there is no automatic account determination?
