Control of transition progress? Possible?

I want to place a clip over and in the middle of another clip in a circle or oval shape. The circle transition would be perfect if I could set and hold the size of the circle through the running of the clip. Is there a way to do this or is there another tool for this effect? thx, EE

funny idea to abuse a transition as an effect … but not an editor's first choice:
• drag your 2nd clip over the 1st
• apply under Effects/Keying a 'Mask' on top clip
• select top clip, in the info pane you'll find some 'knobs' to play with:
on first try, it looks like you can only apply rounded-corners with the slider
but you can drag'n-shift the numerical value of 'roundness' beyond 100%!
plus, selecting the Mask effect offers you 4 handles to correct the mask from rectangle to square/circle, to create an oval or circle shape.
apply Feather as needed ...

    Can anyone get to this note "1390717.1: 12c Cloud Control Agent: Is it possible to Re-configure a 12c Agent to a Different 12c OMS Without Re-installation?"
    I do a search in Metalink and I see it listed in "How to Point a 10g/11g Grid Agent to a Different Grid Control OMS and Repository without Re-installation? [ID 413228.1]" but that is the only doc a search returns.
    I have a test environment with agents pointed to an old OMS 12c. I'd like to utilize the same agents but point them to our new, production, OEM 12c environment. Has anyone had any success with this? I've followed the 10g/11g OEM steps without luck, thus far (early testing).

  • How can I use 3 buttons to control the transitions of my case structure?

    Hi everyone,
    Hopefully this will be an easy fix... Although I cannot seem to work it out??
    I am building a state machine inside a while-loop with the following states:
    1. System idle.
    2. Self-cal pci card.
    3. Run DAQ and do my processing.
    4. Stop the vi.
    I can do this using a enum no problems (with state 1. System idle as the initialising state for the while-loop)... But I really want to have is 4 buttons on the front panel, one for each of the 4 states, so that all the user needs to do is press the button corresponding to the state they want and the appropriate transition ocurrs... For example, when the vi first runs, the idle state is operating... When the user is ready can then hit button 2 for a self-cal... Is self-cal is ok, they hit button 3 for DAQ... Once the DAQ is finished the user can hit button 4 to stop the vi..
    My problem is that I need the current button to unlatch when another button is hit...
    Any suggestions?... This is killing me!
    Thanks,
    Jack

  • Urgent: Progressive possible for PAL DVD?

    Hi all
    I'm making NTSC and PAL versions of the same DVD.
    On the NTSC version we have encoded all the menus (short movies created in FCPX) as 23.98 progressive in Compressor, to stop the title text flickering due to interlacing.   This worked perfectly, no more flickering text.
    For the PAL version however Compressor's PAL DVD settings only mention 25i, no progressive options seem available.
    Any suggestions on how to repeat this on the PAL side?
    Thanks everyone - Jon

    If you're creating a DVD, there's really no choice of codecs, since DVD video is a very specific and tightly constrained form of MPEG-2 video. MPEG-2 video is highly compressed and is not a high-definition format, so it is absolutely unavoidable that export to DVD video will cause some quality loss. This is true for even professionally created DVDs. There is an MPEG-2 DVD export preset in After Effects that you can choose from the Format menu in the Output Module Settings dialog box.
    If, however, you're handing off your video as input to a larger work, and you need to create an intermediate file that preserves all detail for as long as possible in the post-production pipeline, then you should render and export using lossless encoding. My preference for creating losslessly compressed intermediate files from 8-bit-per-channel sources is the PNG video codec in a QuickTime (MOV) container.
    See this FAQ entry (and the pages that it links to) for more  information about compression and choosing settings for specific  purposes:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/729526
    You mentioned "jerky" output. See this FAQ entry for information about losslessly encoded movies and how they are not suited for playback:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/684381
    Or perhaps the jerkiness is coming from the frame-rate mismatch between your 30fps source and 25fps composition. If so, then frame blending can help.

  • Dual control one-time vendors possible?

    Dear experts,
    Does any of you know if it is possible to have dual control on sensitive fields for one-time vendors?
    Thanks.
    Jurriaan

    Dear Aravind
    Thank you for  your answer.
    I have checked this in our system and it works fine if you change the vendor master data.
    However, when you enter the one-time vendor data (bank data) during  the creation of the vendor invoice, no dual control is executed by the system.
    That is the moment where we want to have that check because for every one-time vendor the bank account has to be entered by the user.
    Do you know if that is possible?
    Thanks.

  • Wizard control trigger transition

    Hi,
    I encountered a problem with the Wizard Control of VC7.1 SP4
    I have a wizard with several steps which are shown as numbers in the upper wizard bar in the correct order. If I trigger a transition from step 1 to step 3 the wizard bar now only shows the numbers 1 and 3. After a transition to from step 3 to step 2, the wizard bar shows the steps in the order 1 3 2.
    Is this a bug? Where is the correct place to report VC bugs? There are some more VC controls with odd behavior which should be fixed in the next service pack.
    Regards,
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
    Did you use actions to switch between the wizard steps?
    If so, this may be the reason.
    The wizard road-map (the numbers on the top), are calculated when the wizard is drawn on the screen for the first time.
    However, this calculation is done only according to the default transition lines and ignores transition actions.
    So if there are no transition lines, the road-map will show only steps the user has already visited.
    To fix that, you need to connect the steps with default transition lines in the order you wish them to appear. The transition lines don't have to do anything, just be there so the default route will be calculated correctly.
    I have created two screenshots that will help you find how to create transitin lines and how to select which is the default transition (in case you have more than one transition form a single step):

    Is it possible to have sound volume control mixer when system is connected with HDMI cable?
    when connected to speakers, there is mixer and I can control volume, but not with the HDMI.
    Thanks!

    I don't understand what are you trying to say, I don't have any volume control on HDMI output, only at stereo output.
    EDIT: It looks like I have to implemement this: http://alsa.opensrc.org/Softvol
    this is my .asoundrc
    pcm.!default {
    type hw
    card 1
    device 3
    but I don't get how to configure it with softvol... any examples or suggestions?
    this is NOT working for me:
    pcm.hdmi_hw {
    type hw
    card 1 # <--- card number
    device 3 # <--- device number
    pcm.hdmi_formatted {
    type plug
    slave {
    pcm hdmi_hw
    rate 48000
    channels 2
    pcm.hdmi_complete {
    type softvol
    slave.pcm hdmi_formatted
    control.name hdmi_volume
    control.card 1
    Thanks
    EDIT:
    after some time, I've found solution. It is really simple, I had to define default pcm.
    pcm.hdmi_hw {
    type hw
    card 1 # <--- card number
    device 3 # <--- device number
    pcm.hdmi_complete {
    type softvol
    slave.pcm hdmi_hw
    control.name hdmi_volume
    control.card 1
    pcm.!default hdmi_complete

  • Closed loop control of step motors possible with 7344?

    Hi All
    I have been looking around here for a while for an answer to this question.
    For me, a closed loop control system is correcting for following errors all the time, also when the move is complete.
    If the load on a system changes, there will often be a need for compensation in order to keep the position right. Then you need a closed loop control system.
    I have made a system using DC motors with a 7342 controller. We are in the process og getting a new similar system, where the manufacturer chosed stepmotors in the believe that it can be used in closed loop.
    Is it really true that the NI version of closed loop is only performing a what you call a "pull-in" at the end of the move in order to correct for lost steps or flexibility of the connection between motor and object/encoder?
    I would call this "backlash compensation" or something like that.
    Why dont you make a real closed loop option. The control voltage from your servo motor control, could be fed into a voltage-frequency converter with a matchin sign signal.
    This shouldn't be too complicated to accomplish.
    /b

    You are right. NI motion control boards don't apply a control algorithm
    during moves when configured in closed loop stepper mode. In this mode
    the board monitors the following error during the move and generates an
    error when the following error limit is exceeded and they start the
    pull-in moves at the end of the move if necessary.
    If you really want to do PID control with stepper motors you still
    could connect an external V/f converter to the DAC outputs of the board
    and control the axes like DC motor axes. Some vendors implement this
    feature on their board but NI has decided not to do that as we don't
    think that this approach provides a good solution. Here are some reasons:
    The most important issue is the fact that you could easily exceed
    the maximum rate of change of the motor frequency in the case that the
    following error increases during the move. For a DC motor this would mean that the
    voltage of the controller increases to compensate for this error and
    the motor will follow - probably with some delay, but it will follow. For
    the stepper this could mean that the acceleration becomes so high
    that the motor stops immediately as it can't follow with a delay like a DC motor. What
    should the controller do then? Restart the move automatically? Generate
    an error? There is a big chance that you end up with a system moving in a stop and go mode.
    The second issue is related to the control algorithm itself. The transfer function of a stepper motor is not really linear so it will be quite hard to find good tuning parameters. A DC motor can be tuned by analyzing the step response and the Bode plot. For the reasons that I have described in 1.) this won't work for a stepper so how should you tune it?
    I have talked to some  motion control engineers who have tried to control steppers with a PID algorithm and they all agree that this is a real pain and it's not recommended.
    So if your system requirements involve online following error compensation I strongly recommend using a DC motor.

  • Need help with custom control. Is this possible?

    Okay, here is my problem. I have a picture of a human being (just outlined trace), that breaks the body into parts. (ie left arm, right arm, left lower back, right lower back). I need for each part to be a bolean control if that makes sense? I am trying to replicate a survey that was written for us in visual basic that we dont have the source for, and author is no where to be found. Any ideas?

    You could make each of your body parts a separate custom boolean control. Add a series of booleans for each part to your front panel. Customize each control using the instructions here to add a decal to your boolean.
    You do not need to save the custom control to a file unless you want to reuse it elsewhere. When all the booleans parts hava a decal, arrange the parts on your front panel.
    The nice thing about a decal is that it becomes part of the clickable region for the boolean.
    I've attached a crude example...
    Now is the right time to use %^<%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S%3uZ>T
    If you don't hate time zones, you're not a real programmer.

  • Is multi computer control across internet REALLY possible?

    I know there have been posts on some of this. But I really need the black and white answer.
    I want to be on an iBook anywhere in the world, on any router in any hotel and control all 5 of my macs at home. They all run seperate radio stations and if I have to coach my mother on 'how to tweak' one more time over the phone she's going to kill me.
    How do I break through ports when I have no access and how do I go into specific computers that are all 'clicked on' with Apple Remote? Will Apple Remote 3 do this over 2?
    Please help me answer this question once and for all.
    Thank you,
    Jason

    This has been covered here before, but again, to be able to connect to a workstation from outside it's network, the ports that ARD uses must be open on both ends of the connection. ARD uses ports 3293 and 5900 so those must be open.
    If your workstations get their addresses from an NAT device rather than being "real", the ports also need to be forwarded in the router to the workstation's internal IP address. ARD uses port 3283 for the reporting and updating function, so if your Macs are getting their IP addresses through NAT, since you can only forward a port to a single workstation, you can only get reports, push package/files to etc. for a single workstation.
    ARD uses the VNC protocol for observation and control, though, and there are a range of IP addresses for that protocol, starting with 5900. ARD uses 5900 by default, so that port would be forwarded to the first workstation. You would, I believe, need to install VNC servers on the systems (since the ARD client cannot listen on any port other than 5900 while VNC servers can be set for other ports such as 5901, 5902, etc. You would then forward 5901 to the second workstation (and on to 5902, 5903, etc.). You can then use the following information:
    Remote Desktop 2: How to specify a port number for a VNC client
    to connect.
    The only other options are: 1) to run the ARD administrator on a workstation on the network, and then take control of that system from outside, either via VNC or another copy of ARD, or 2) set up a virtual private network (VPN) so that when you connect from outside, your admin system is officially part of the local network.
    And no, ARD 3 is no different in this regard.
    One additional tip; if all you need is to be able to control another computer, then ARD would be overkill. Look into the freeware VNC. That will give you control capabilities and not cost you anything. You can find VNC applications for Mac here. Most people seem to find Chicken of the VNC works well for them. You'll similarly have to run a VNC server on each system so that you can assign different ports to each (5900, 5901, 5902, etc.)
    Hope this helps.

  • Dynamic text cum label box in one control , how is it possible?

    can any one guide me how can i make a lable which when clicked converts inself into a text box and then we enter some text into it and then when the focus looses the text box then the text box converts itself into a lable and has the same text in the lable which i has entered.

    Suppose that instead of label->textField->label transformation it's easier to use only one textField
    and to change the appearance of it on a base of user's actions.
    Something like this:
    public class LabelTest extends javax.swing.JFrame {
        private javax.swing.JTextField textField;
        private javax.swing.JButton button;
        private java.awt.Font labelFont = new java.awt.Font("Times New Roman", java.awt.Font.BOLD | java.awt.Font.ITALIC, 20);

            setSize(300, 200);
            textField = new javax.swing.JTextField("Some label");
            testFieldBackground = textField.getBackground();
            textField.setBounds(20, 50, 180, 50);

            textField.addFocusListener(new java.awt.event.FocusAdapter() {
