Control QT presentation in a slide

I use Keynote 2.0.2. I've pasted a Quicktime sequence in a slide and I need to interrupt the sequence to make some comments and then carry on where I've stopped. How?

you could hit the F key and freeze the show. I'm not sure if the movie will pick up where it left off or not, but I think it will. Just hit any key to start it back up.

Starting a swf slide presentation at random slide

I have a swf slide presentation of 9 slides. I would like the
swf to start at the beginning of a randomly chosen slide. Any ideas
on how to do this? I saw some msgs here about starting at random
frames, but nothing pertaining to slides.

You can import pictures into programs such as Photoshop and sharpen them or make other corrections but the results will depend on how much information remains in your photo. It is always better to work with the original image than to copy it out of a power point presentation. I am moving the discussion to the Photoshop forum in case you need more help.

Adobe Presenter 10 - Windows - Slides not auto advancing?

I am having a lot of trouble getting my slides to auto advance. When I preview the presentation within PowerPoint (Adobe Presenter tab, Preview, Preview Presentation), everything looks fine, but when I publish and preview in the browser, the first slide auto plays, but then the following slides do not. I've tried changing just about every setting regarding slide behavior that I can think of and have included screenshots of the screens I've made changes with. I'd appreciate any and all suggestions!

Adobe Presenter Settings: Default slide duration was 5 seconds - I've tried with that or 0.
Transitions - I've tried turning on and off "on mouse click"
Slide Manager Settings: I've checked to make sure Advance by User is 'No' and Lock Slide is 'No'.

This is a very common request which unfortunately has not been satisfactorily answered albeit for very complicated workarounds using multiple duplicates of your keynote file and hyperlinking them.
The easiest alternative is to have iTunes play in the background timed to begin when you manually start the keynote. You can create a playlist so the tracks run into each other, or better yet combine them into one track using a free editor like GarageBand. You'll need to rehearse your timings. Hopefully, youre not trying to match lyrics with words or animations as this is not the most exact way to do so.
The alternative is to create a separate keynote file of those 10 slides and export them to QuickTime, reimport the movie into keynote and add the music track to the file. That will give more accurate timing. The most accurate timing would be tom import the QuickTime movie into iMovie and add the soundtrack with exact timings. Ive done this successfully except for the fact that exporting this way fools around with any build timings.
S the final alternative is to do your first 10 slides with music from iTunes and advance the slides manually using screenflow or the latest QuickTime in lion to record the screen Inc music.
All troublesome but doable workarounds until Apple comes to our aid.

Exit presentation after last slide

ok have keynote presentation with recorded timings that go along with an audio track. i put a blank black slide with nothing on it as the last slide. in preferences i do not have "exit presentation after last slide" checked. why does presentation exit? i want the black slide to stay up there until i press "esc" key.

Controlling volume in a Flash Slide Presentation

Hello,
I am working in Flash Slide Presentation mode. I have a
started a sound file playing on the "master" slide and I want it to
play throughout my entire presentation. However, on a couple of
slides, I want to play some short voice clips. How can I "turn down
the volume" a bit on the main sound file so as to hear the short
voice clips? And then turn it back up when the voice clip ends?
I understand basic Actionscript. Can anyone tell me the code
or point me to a tutorial which I can use to accomplish this?

Controlling QT movies in a slide... no controller in KN 3?

I just got my copy of Keynote 3 hoping two things had made it to this new version:
1. HTML export... no go.
2. QT movies' controller available to pause, stop, rewind, ffw,etc. a movie in a presentation... I couldn't do it either....
Has someone been able to do this? I just can't believe that after so many users asking for this and griping about it Apple did not include it... after all, it seems to me it's a basic function of their own media player...

to File/Export the options I get are Quicktime,
PowerPoint, PDF, Images, and Flash. No HTML... I have
been using flash as export, but would like something
similar to the html exporting function present in
PowerPoint.
It sounds like you're running Keynote 2.0. Perhaps you launched Keynote from the icon on the dock? I've noticed that the installer leaves the old version of Keynote around. The new version is in a "iWork '06" directory in your applications folder.
The new export panel is noticeably different from the old. It has a top row with buttons instead of a panel with buttons going down.
There is the ability to control QuickTime movies
as
well, but it would depend upon how large your
video
is... certain control schemes are available along
the
bottom of the video as it plays, but only if you
have
the horizontal room for it. Maybe there's a
problem
with your install?
Can you elaborate on how you do this please? When I
insert a quicktime movie, it plays automatically upon
opening that slide with no controls to pause, stop,
etc. I can have it start on click if I create a
build-in transition for it, but that's about it.
Maybe I'm missing something obvious?

Flash Button In Captivate To Control Breeze Presenter

Hello everyone,
I would like to create a button in flash that once click,
will automatically advance a slide in the Breeze Presenter. This
button will be in a Captivate simulation that I have. The way my
simulation works is that the user has to click on a start button
(created in flash) in the Breeze Presenter, and the simulation is
opened in a new, full screen window. Once the simulation has
completed, I would like to be able to have the user click a "Close"
button, and then have the movie close, and the Brezze Presenter go
onto the next slide. Any help at all would be GREATLY appreciated.

Sorry if I'm coming into this discussion late and I don't
have time right now to look through it from the start. Is a new
window acceptable? Meaning, when the user clicks on the button in
the Breeze presentation, is it okay if a new browser window opens?
If that's the case, then you should be able to just create a button
(it's been a while since I looked at Captivate so I'm not sure if
you can do it in there or not, but at the very least you could do
it in Flash) that opens up a new blank window and accesses the URL
with the captivate movie.
Actually, I'm glad you asked this, because it gives me
something to consider when I start developing my next round of
elearning courses. I hate the idea of embedding captivates into
powerpoint. This alleviates you from needing to do so, and also
alleviates the size restrictions of ppt:
Upload the captivate-generated swf to the Breeze content
area. You'll need to remember to set permissions appropriately.
Then just copy the URL for that captivate swf and call it via your
button. In flash the button code would look like this:

If you want to control the appearance of the browser/page
appearance, you'll need to upload the captivate-generated swf (as
described above) along with the calling html file. You do this by
zipping them up together into a zip file and naming the html file:
index.htm. As long as they're zipped up together then Breeze will
be keep the pathing correct for you.
Also, you mention wanting to close the captivate window. I'm
not sure exactly how this is done, but I'm sure at the very least
you could do it via javascript by using the zipped up method above
- from the Breeze presentation just call the index.htm file, which
calls the swf. Then at the end of the cp swf, have a button that
calls a "browser close" command via javascript. I'm not familiar
with javascript and have admittedly never used this, so I may be
off. Hopefully Marc or someone can chime in.
Of course, if a new blank window is unacceptable to you, then
my suggestions are out the window (no pun intended!). : )

Playback control covers presentation

This is my second post to the forum. I apologize for my
horrible screen-name. Everything I tried kept getting rejected, so
I just hit random keyboard keys. :)
Anyway, I've been having problems with the playback control.
It appears on-top of the finished presentation, instead of just off
to the side (or bottom/top). If there a way around this, or do I
just need to leave space in my slide layout for the playback
control?

Welcome to our community, Bryan
As you are new to the community, I'm assuming it's a safe bet
you are using Captivate 2 or 3? If so, try clicking Project >
Skin... > Borders tab and seeing if you have a border enabled.
The Borders feature moves the playback control into its own
area on the presentation. However, this has the side effect of
causing an additional .SWF to be created. Assuming you want the
playback moved off the main part of the movie and still maintain a
single .SWF to distribute, you need to click Project > Resize
Project... and make the project taller. Then ensure the man part of
the movie isn't rescaled, but positioned so it leaves room for your
playback controls to sit in their own area.

PowerPoint Office Web App Embed Code to start presentation on specific slide

I have SharePoint and Office Web Apps configured and playing nicely. When I go to embed a Powerpoint presentation in my page, it works properly.
However, I'd like to be able to control what slide the presentation opens on by the embed URL. I've tried bashing the embed code options to no avail.
Is there a querystring parameter I can add to the source URL that will automatically start the presentation on a different slide than the first one?

No updates? Seems like it should be possible with a querystring paramter but that's just a logical guess. Anyone know if that is in fact the case and what the parameter to pass would be?

Can you automate an iPad keynote presentation like a slide show?

I have a very basic keynote presentation that I've created on my iPad 2. No fancy transitions, etc. Essentially slides with pictures and information. I need to have it run like a slide show and repeat itself over and over for a static display. Can someone help me accomplish this?

Print presenter notes under slides...multiple slides on page

Somehow, I was able to print out 6 slides to a page with the presenter notes underneath each slide, at work. Now, at home, I cannot recreate that. Adding presenter notes to the "Handouts" option results in too many pages and checking the presenter notes in the "slide" option only gives one slide per page with the notes. What am I missing?
