Controller to program ES2 etc

I find programming the ES2, Sculpture, etc quite difficult with the mouse and was wondering if there are any good hardware controllers that can be configured for various plug-ins? I have an Oxygen8 but the knobs never seem to match the VI. I'd like it to support templates and recognise which plug-in is selected, so that the 'cutoff' knob etc is always mapped correctly to the selected plug-in setting no matter what instrument I choose. Then I can quickly switch between the instruments and make adjustments without having to remember that knob 2 is cutoff on the ES2 but knob 4 is cutoff on the impOSCar. It would also be nice if the controller had enough knobs on it to control all the parameters, like the JP-8000 or MS2000. thanks.

ooo awesome. MIDI savvy, not too much. I have a novation x-station 25. It has a synth onboard, as well as acting as a MIDI controller/keyboard and I'd like to use those synth controls; or do I need something else, like a strict controller? Anything you can offer would be so helpful!

Request for Help - Very slow and programs crash, etc. since upgrading to Lion

I have searched the forum for a while looking for answers, but everyone seems to have different issues.
Since upgrading to Lion last week, EVERYTHING is running slow. I have an iMac (late 2009) with 4GB ram and over 700GB of free hard drive space.
I am not running a ton of heavy duty programs -- just the basics - word, entourage, safari, preview, and occasionally Photoshop, iPhoto, etc. I haven't even tried to edit any video since upgrading.
I continually get the "spinning wheel" when doing the most simple tasks like deleting a mail message, or opening a pdf file.
I have done all software updates.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Next for Photoshop, make sure to follow tips on the http://roaringapps.com/apps:table website for your version of Photoshop, to ensure you aren't overtaxing your system, and that you are usign any applications that are current for Lion. If you have any WiFi routers, make sure WPA2 password protection is on, and not WEP, and not an open network, and that their firmware has been tested with Lion. Erasing programs/info/etc

I'm kind of stuck in a situation here. I'm selling my iMac (purchasing a macbook pro soon) but the problem is, I don't have the original disc to clear my hard drive or reset the system back to default settings.
Is there a way to do this without the disc? And if not, what can I do to erase as much of the information on here as I can before selling. (I know for a fact there aren't any personal items like credit card numbers, bank accounts, or anything of that sort saved on here, but I'd like to erase everything else that I can just to be as safe as possible. Passwords, programs, pictures/videos/music, etc.)

If you have access to another Mac, you can use Target Disk Mode to erase the drive on your iMac. If you sell your iMac, you should really include the install discs, so I suggest you call Apple Customer Relations at 800-767-2775 and ask the to send you the appropriate discs, which they will do for a small fee You can then erase your drive and sell the Mac with all the proper discs.

Deleting a Domain Controller affect programs running by domain users?

I have a server running Windows Server 2008 R2 which has a Domain Controller that was created for tests but was never used. I was told that by creating this DC all users accounts from the local machine are migrated to the domain and deleting it also wipes
all these accounts. The problem is that I have some programs that are run by those users accounts, I would like to know what happens to these programs if I delete the DC causing the accounts to be delete. Do these accounts are converted to local machine accounts?
What happens to the users folders?

you can change the computer from join domain to workstation, then monitor what happen...
don't delete the DC suddenly. if really dont need this DC, change computer to workstation and demote

How check table update program, FM etc..

Hi ,
I need to prepare a document for table the KNB5, the table contain 11 fields, need to prepare a document for all the fields how they are updating and what Programs, Fucntion Module, Module Pool/enhancement etc.. involved for table updating .
I will use where used list for each field and get list programs, Fucntion Module, Module Pool/enhancement etc. involved but in what basis, I will confirm weather this program or FM really using table updates or not.
Shall I search with update command or with table? is any other way?

This is kind of tricky. KNB5 is customer dunning data table which (as far as i know) is updated by transaction XD01/XD02.
So, you might want to run a SQL trace and modify/update the data. Then you need to analyze the trace to see how it is being updated. Then again, you need to put break points and see what is going by running the same again.

My email providers are telling me to upgrade my browser, I have an imac G5 with OS X 10.4.11 my OS is Tiger, I've upgraded as far as it will allow me. I have the Creative Suite Programs (photoshop etc) If I upgrade OS will it affect these programs?

I have an old imac G5 my operating system is Tiger, I never upraded it because I was told it would affect my photoshop, indesign etc programs, my email providers are telling me to upgrade my browser,my email is not working right and can't get it to work proper. I have upgraded as far as my mac will allow. I was wondering if I changed my OS to Lion or Mountain Lion or even an older one like Lepord would it affect my CS2 programs?

You will need to upgrade Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite 2 for Lion or ML. CS3 version 10 will work.
Mac OS X Leopard discs are expensive. Snow Leopard requires an Intel CPU.

Computmotor 6K Motion Controller LabView program

I am using the Viewpoint Compumotor 6k Motion Controller VI's. We have the motion controller plugged in through serial port. I'm looking at the Functions they offer(different VI's), but I don't see any for serial port. They have a VI 6k Communication Launcher.VI, but it looks like that's only for Ethernet connection not through Serial. Does anyone know how to create a connection with serial port.

The first thing you should do is set up a serial connection, because you'll need it to configure the ethernet connection if you decide to go that route. Once you have the serial connection working you might decide it's all you need. You also might want to use serial if you don't want to put your 6k on your local network and you can't get a second ethernet card for your computer. The commands are the same over either connection so you can switch between them anytime. Which one is better for you depends somewhat on what you need the 6k to do.
If you're interacting a lot with the 6k and response speed isn't critical, the serial connection is fine. For repeated motions and faster response, the ethernet connection is better. Initially, I wrote programs on the 6k and ran them by sending the program name over the serial connection. Each program would print a response to the serial port that LabVIEW could read. It also provided flexibility for me to write individual 6k commands from LabVIEW when necessary, but it was slow because the 6k takes time to parse text into program names and LabVIEW needed to check the serial port to see if a program finished. A faster approach is to assign a program to run when a specific input is triggered using INSELP. That input can be a bit in a variable - a virtual input. The ethernet communication lets you send variable values directly to the 6k, so you can run a 6k program by sending the right variable value. Similarly the 6k can send an alert over the ethernet link when motion completes, which is simpler than putting a print command in every 6k program and checking for a response on the serial port.

Removing programs and etc

I'm just wonder if there is something on my iMac that is kind of like windows add/remove programs tool, or is it just, drag the folder from your macintosh HD into the trash and that's it? it doesn't leave random files behind like it did on windows?
Also, exploring the web, i noticed, well wait you know what, i just figured it out just now lol.... i was about to ask about the history and i looked up and it's right there on the top! i keep forgeting everything for every program is at the top, not on the program! lol bbblllahhhhh, i gotta get use to this! lol

One of the easiest ways to remove things that you have installed is to write the name of the program in the search box in the upper right corner of a Finder window. What will appear in the window is a list of applications, files, docs, etc with that name. If you highlight an item in the list, by clicking on it once, at the bottom of the window you will see the filepath of where it is located. Use this filepath to determine if it is associated with the Application you want to remove or just an occurrence of the name in a doc or pdf, etc associated with another application. If you determine it is associated with the App you want to remove press Command + Delete and it will be moved to the trash.
Based on what type of app you are trying to remove there can be assorted files associated with the App. These are usually in the main OS Library or your User Library and are usually located in folders called Application Support, Internet Plugins, Preferences or even a folder with the name of the App. If the App is controlled from System Preferences it may have a file in a folder called PreferencePanes. Sometimes all the associated files do not use the name of the App, but use the Brand Name of the manufacturer, for example Microsoft, Apple, or Adobe. Just to be sure I locate all of the associated files I always run both the name of the App and the Brand Name.
Occasionally, associated files cannot be deleted by emptying the trash until you Log Out of your User Account and then Log In. Rarely, you may need to Restart to delete the item by emptying the Trash.
This is the method that I use to remove troublesome or unwanted software. I also retain install logs if an installer program creates one while installing an App. This usually contains a complete list of all the files installed and may even include the filepath. I also hang on to any uninstallers that occasionally come with an App. I keep these logs and uninstallers at least until I have determined whether I intend to keep the App.

Firefox 3.6 doesn't open links clicked from other programs (IM, etc.,)

Whenever I try to open a link from either my IM or an IRC program like mIRC it won't open in firefox. I have to copy and paste the link.

I now have FireFox 32.0.2 no joy. I have loaded ThunderBrowse which took care of Thunderbird but still can't load links from other programs. I fixed this before (other backups, I crashed my windows C drive and have been trying to restore), but can't remember how. I think it required reloading IE (I had deleted IE on my latest restore), but I have now done that with no joy.
When I click on a link from another program, nothing happens, and when I right click and am offered "open in browser" nothing happens, and when offered " copy browser link" it doesn't copy.
I tried resetting FireFox, no joy.
Noticed control panel "set program access" doesn't hold, always goes back to custom, and defaults to "uses default browser"!

You need to back up your current iPad either to your computer, or if you are on the cloud to the cloud. Then when you go to set up your new iPad, you'll either restore it from the computer (iTunes backup) or if you back up to the cloud, wirelessly from the cloud. The new device will give you the option to restore from a cloud backup if you are using the cloud.

Logic synths; ES2 etc. - what do they stand for & what types of synthesis?

I'm talking here about the synths that come with Logic: ES1, ES M, EVD6, EFM1, ES1, ES2, ES E, ES P, EVB3, EVP88.
What do these abreviations stand for? - I assume it goes back a long way, and the E might be for E-Magic. M and P probably mean Monophonic and Polyphonic, but what about the rest?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of each synth, - why would I use one over an other?
Also, I assume EFM1 is an FM synth, but what types of synthesis do the others employ?

Actually, all your "assumptions" are pretty spot on. At least the way I'm remembering things.

And yes, the P is for Polyphonic, and M for monophonic. I believe the E is for "ensemble", and yes, the EFM1 is an FM synth.
As for what synth is best to use for what... that's the art and science of it all.
Obviously, the EVP88, EVB3 and EVD6 are intended to sound like the vintage keyboards they are emulating. But each one can really do a lot, especially the EVD6. Check out the presets, and start moving buttons and sliders.
I find Sculpture best suited for atmospheric textures, or when I need something really bizarre, but it can be SO much more than that as well.
I'm sure others have some great insight as to practical usage as well.

Regarding ring tones, where am I able to obtain songs from TV programs, radio, etc.

Before purchasing my iPhone, I had the Law and Order ring tone on my HTC smartphone and was wondering if it is available for my iPhone. Is there an app for purchasing ring tones outside of those available on the iPhone?

Yes.
Open itunes app on the iphone and go to the More>Tones section of the store and purchase what you like. make sure you transfer anything you buy to your computer as you cann redownload.
You can also create your own. Google will find several ways to do this.

Nothing opens, programs zip etc..

Since I went from Lion to 10.9.4 OSX, Nothing opens. I mean when I download a .dmg or a zip file I cant open it.
So when I click on the thing I want to open it keeps jumping on my dashboard like its going to open but then it stops and nothing happens.
I did try to restart my Laptop but that didnt help.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe modeand log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

Hide the top of windows(files, programs etc.)

Is there a way to hide the title bar at the top of windows, such as files, programs, folders etc? I could have sworn I use to do it it now when I try to hide the top of the window above the screen display it just rubber bands back and show the top of the
window. Im trying to hide as much visibility of the title bar across the top of a game as I can to increase actual game display.

Press down the COMMAND key then select each toolbar item and drag it off the toolbar - poof, they're gone. For any others simply open the Customize Toolbar selection of the View menu. Then select the option items and drag them out of the toolbar.
This should also be explained in Help (select Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu.)
