But when I try to assign my Company Codes to Controlling Area S001, the system throws a problem saying,u2019 Data in Company Code 2000 is not maintainedu2019.
I have maintained all the data in Company Code 2000. But as per my knowledge we donu2019t maintain u2018currency, fiscal year variant, and chart of accountsu2019 in Company Code. All these fields are maintained in u2018Controlling Area S001u2019.

    Hello,
You need to fulfill two basic rules to assign two or more
Company Codes under the same controlling Area:
Operating Chart of Accounts shall be the same for all
         Company Codes.
Fiscal Year Variant shall be same for all Company
         Codes.
However, the fiscal year variant in the controlling area and the company codes
can have different number of special periods. The number of posting periods
           must be the same.
Please recheck that you have fulfilled these.

  • Same operating concern for multiple controlling area

    Dear all,
We have a senario in which multiple controlling area is defined with multiple currency. Is it feasible to use same operating concern or different.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vishal

    Hi
As long as the Fiscal Yr Variant is same between the two, you can use same Op Concern
I dont think the above reply is valid because in my opinion, there is no restriction with regards to Currency

  • Creation of Operating Concern after Controlling Area

    Hi SAP Gurus,
Need your help on this one:
Our client is implementing FICO in phase 1 without COPA & Product Costing. COPA will be taken up in Phase 2 when MM & SD are also implemented.
Will I have to create an Operating Concern now in Phase 1 along with the Controlling Area? or will I be able to create an Opearting Concern alone later in Phase 2?
Points will be assigned to useful answers.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sangeeta

    Hi
Operating Concern is at above the Controlling Area.
You can create Operating Concern later. There won't be any impact.
Because, no where you are going to assign the Operating Concern. So, it'll not impact the settings.

  • Create Operating Concern vis-a-vis Controlling Area

    Hi Experts,
I have a defined a Controlling Area, but NOT an Operating Concern.
How will this affect my CO postings?  Can I use CO without Operating Concern?
    What is the best practice?
    Thanks!

As you have not created an operating concern you will not be able to get Profitability Analysis (COPA)
However it is not likely to affect your controlling in any other way
If not required then there is no need to create any operating concern.

  • Error while assigning Operating concer to Controlling Area

    Hi...
while I am trying to assign operating concern to controlling area, the system is showing the following error message.
    Diagnosis
Controlling area 7500 and operating concern 7500 have different fiscal year variants (01 and K4). However, for cost center assessment, settlement, and many other types of postings to Profitability Analysis, the controlling area and the operating concern must have identical fiscal year variants, otherwise error messages or serious data inconsistencies can occur.
But i already changed fiscal year variant from K4 to 01 in Operating concern and i run the generate operating concern environment also. still the system is showing the same error message.
Is there anything more i need to do after changing fiscal year variant in Operting concern.
    Please help me.
    Thank you,

    I have got the solution.

  • Difference between operating concern, segment and business area

    hi,
can any one tell me the diffrence between operating concern, segment and business area with example.
    regards,
    ankur

    Hi,
Operating concern is the highest level of hierarchy in controlling area.  Operating concern used to
do analysis on PCA (Profit Center Acctg) / CO-PA.  This is basically used for the analysis of parameters, like measuring
internal profit of a SBU, Sales data analysis (COPA).They can even be used for Analysing balance sheet items
    (Stocks,Assets,cash etc.)
Segment- financial report information by line of business and geographical area
business area- equivalent to a specific area of responsibility within your company or business segment.  This can be used for both internal and external reporting
Business areas are primarily used to facilitate external segment reporting across company
codes, covering the company's main areas of operation (product lines, branches)
organizational units in FI module are ( in sequence): Client, company code, business area, company, credit cotrol area, funds
management area, dunning area, chart of accounts and controlling area.
    Thanks,

  • Change the currency of Operating Concern COPA

    Hi,
In my SAP environment there are 4 controlling areas. Only one of them is assigned to Operating concern. The remaining 3 have COPA inactive.
I would like to extend the existing operating concern to remaining 3 controlling areas, but before I do that I need to change the Operating concern currency as the one currently set is only relevant for only one controlling area and company code which is GBP. I need to change it to group currency - USD.
When I use F1 help on currency field in Operating Concern settings in configuration, I get information that 'once data has been posted, however, a change in the operating concern currency would cause the existing data to be interpreted as if it were posted in the new currency (for example: USD 1000.00 in old currency -> DEM 1000.00 in new currency).'
Even though we have transactional data posted in that operating concern , it is not being used by any department and we are quite happy to have existing data interpreted in USD instead of GBP. No reports are being generated in COPA currently so it will not be an issue for us. We want new data to be proper and constistent.
When I try to change the currency in operating concern config, the field is greyed out. I believe there is  more complex workaround for that, but the only note I found on this is  651142 which says that SAP provides different tools to reorganize operating concern. But no further details are included.
If anybody managed to change operating concern currency, please help me with that.
    Regards,
    Karol

    Hi Karol
I read the note given by you.. It asks you to contact the SAP for SLO Service (System Landscape Optimization )
This is a chargeable service by SAP... In case you decide to go ahead with this, do share your experience with us
Create an OSS msg and give ref of this note... I would suggest to go with SAP service and not with any one else's experiences... The tools that SAP is talking about are available only with SAP..
You may try to archive the existing data from COPA tables and then see if the currency field opens up for editing.. Am not sure about it..

  • Creation of a new controlling area

I'm trying to create a new controlling area (trans. OKKP).
In folder "activate components/control indicators", I wanted to activate Profitability Analysis but the field was in grey and was not possible to change from "component not active" to one of the other activation possibilities.
I need to know what to do to change this field.
The client is working with COPA and this set-up was done before to assign the controlling area to the FI company.
    The SAP version is 4.7

    Dear.
You can activate that through tcd KEKE.
You know, Before that, Operating concern must be maintained.

  • Operating concern for two company code with different currency

    Hi,
We are merging two company code into one SAP server.
We decide to use on chart of account, and to use one operating concern.
For company code A: the currency is CNY, for company code B: the currency is TWD.  The operating concern currency is:CNY.
So i need to in KEA0(maintain operating concern) active company code currency, right?
So every posting in company code B will be posted in TWD and CNY to COPA same item, right?
In KE30 report, where to add characters: Currency type that i can show company code B report in TWD?
    Thanks.

    Dear David,
Yes. If you have different compancy codes within one controlling area, you have to maintain currency type with 10-Company code currecny and while maintaining the operating concern also you have to choose the company code currency only.  Then only you will get the reports with respect of your company code currecny level. This will be basing on your company code-sales organisation, plants and other charcters assignment basis in your configuration.
    All the best,
    Dharma Rao. Yekula.

    Hi
Now something good. Profitability analysis (COPA) is a component using which you can analyse your profitability from different dimensions such as product, dealer, sales area, sales organisation and so on. If COPA is in the scope of project then only it has to be activated.
Hence Profitability analysis is not required to activate at the initial times in co area as it automatically when you activate your operating concern.
Activity based costing again, should be activated on the client requirement only.
