Controlling audio volume in MovieClip

Is there a way to change the audio volume of a MovieClip? It
seems like something that should be obvious how to do but I can't
find any information about how it could be done.

When you first import the movie you have the option to extract the audio, which places it on its own track.  If you didn't do that, you can still go to the movie menu (in file) and import the audio, same as in L9.

  • Controlling audio volume in movie?

Doing a score.  New to Logic X.  Imported a movie.  How can I control the 'volume' of the audio track of the movie?  I want to be able to bring it up and down as I build the score.  With the new Quicktime there appears to be no controller on the Player itself (as in old days).  And I can't find a 'track' that represents the audio from the film.  And I can see on import that I can remove the audio track.  But I want to hear it and not hear it as I build the score.
    All ears,

  • Non-Apple Keyboard: any way to control system audio volume?

I have a non-Apple Keyboard on my new Mini Lion 7.2.1
Is there any way to control system audio volume via the keyboard ?

Well. I can do this. But just because, on my Apple keyboard, there are the keys that do the job. There's a key to mute, and the keys to adjust low and high the sound. But keyboard shortcuts, I don't think exist. The aren't in keyboard shortcut in Keyboard panel, within System Preferences. The bottom line is that isn't a menu item in Finder for lower sound and higher sound. The only option would be an AppleScript that you save as an applet within Scripts menu (activated in Finder via Script Editor) and you invoke with a shortcut... Well, you can do it, if you open the script Set Output Volume in UI Elements Script folder within Scripts folder. Try it out!

  • How do I allow meeting participants to control the volume of an audio file in Adobe Connect 9?

The feature of changing the audio volume as a participant in an Adobe Connect meeting seems to have gone away in version 9.
It is missing on both audio and video files, and I am currently losing paying customers because the volume is either too low or too high.
How do I give my users audio volume control again?

Select all of your audio, go to the Modify > Audio > Apply Audio Normalization. It will bring all clips in each track to be the same level. Then, later, you can do your final mix much easier.
Or go to Window > Arrange > Audio Mixing and you'll have an on-screen mixing board to work with. There's a speaker icon in the top right, green keyframing is on while you mix in realtime during playback, gray, keyframing is off.
But use the first method first, for sure. Open the audio mixer after that, you'll save yourself a ton of work and time.

  • More finegrained audio volume control? (Harman/Kardon USB SoundSticks)

    Hi,
I've been asking this question for every major release since 10.2 and I am near to just give up on it. I use the Harman/Kardon SoundSticks (the older USB model, not version 2 with the regular audio jack) and since 10.2 they are simply too loud. Since the speakers themselves do not have any volume control knob it has to be a software solution.
With OS X's sound volume keys I can only use "1 bar of volume" when in front of my Mac and even that is too loud. The only solution is to turn it off completely or to lower it a little bit via the volume control slider in the menu bar. This results in approximately "3/4 bar of volume". Moving it just a tiny bit down from here results in muted audio.
Is there any way to just reduce the overall audio volume via software? Sure, I can do it app by app, but I really need a systemwide solution!
    Thanks
    Björn

Then maybe you're really lucky or just like the high volume setting. This problem exists for years now and it's definitely not caused by my hardware/software. It was the same with the following Macs:
    - Power Mac G4
    - iBook G3
    - iBook G4
    - Power Mac G4 Cube
    - PowerBook G4 Ti
    - PowerBook G4 Alu
    - MacBook Pro CD
    - MacBook Pro C2D
And it happened on all releases of OS X from 10.2 up to 10.5. All versions were installed clean without upgrading so I really have reason to believe it's Apple's sound driver for the SoundSticks...

  • Background Audio Volume Control

    Hi everyone!
Thanks so much for your help on my background audio question.
I was wondering if someone could tell me how I can control the
level of the background audio that i'm using from the
Project>Preferences>Background Audio Tab? I would prefer the
level of background audio to be less than what captivate thinks it
should when I'm talking through ny intro slides.
Thanks again for your help and I'm gald to be aboard the
    forum.
    fajitaman

    Hi fajitaman
Try this. Click either Project > Preferences... (if you
are using Captivate 2) or Movie > Preferences... (if you are
using Captivate 1). Then click the Background Audio tab. Once you
do this, you should see a button labeled Edit... Click the Edit...
button. (If you are prompted whether you are certain you want to
make changes, click the Yes button.) Click the Adjust volume button
and adjust the volume level as desired.
Note you also have an additional option. One I'm personally
not fond of, but it exists. That is the option to "Lower background
audio volume on slides with additional audio". If you use this
option (I believe it's enabled by default) you hear a definite (and
noticeable) volume reduction when slides containing slide level
    audio are played.
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • Is there a way to automatically control the audio volume on safari? Some streaming video sites (Hulu, in particular), like to try to deafen me with the commercials. And yes, I'm not an idiot, I know that I can manually control the volume.

I've been searching for some way to automatically control the volume, so the commercials on streaming sites (Hulu, for example), don't deafen me. And yes, I am aware that I can manually control the volume with the volume keys on the keyboard or the slider in the menubar.

This really frustrates me, small differences between the apps that shouldn't be there.
I understand you can't change the keyboard shortcuts to be the same/similar, but this is totally different. Let's hope it changes soon.

  • Is there any way to control the volume on my Apple TV?

Here's the scenario: I have a small amplifier under my couch that controls the speakers connected to my Apple TV. When I use Airplay from my iPhone to listen to music, I'm able to control the volume right from the music App on my phone- this is perfect because I don't like to reach under the couch to change the volume. However, there are two scenarios when I cannot seem to adjust the volume anywhere except on the amp. These are:
First: Using Airplay while playing a video from my MacBook Pro to the Apple TV. In this case, the volume slider in iTunes suddenly has a little lock icon on it and is unadjustable. Is there any way to unlock the volume?
Second: When using the Apple TV directly to play any media- music or movies. The volume up and down buttons on the Apple TV don't control the volume. I'm forced to reach under the couch to adjust the volume- which happens quite frequently. Is there any way to control the output volume of the Apple TV?
The lack of volume control has been super disappointing. I've been a (multiple) airport express user for years so kind of expected Airplay to work the same for video- with the ability to control the volume from whatever device was transmitting. Can anyone help me?

Andrew- this is how I would expect things to work. However, when I use airplay from my iPhone to say, play a youtube video, the volume on the phone is suddenly rendered useless and I'm forced to adjust the amplifier. When I just play audio from the phone, the volume works.
It's the same on my macbook pro. If I mirror the screen, my computer's volume affects the speakers volume. However, if I am in itunes and play a movie and use airplay for that, I get a lock on the volume. Is this a setting somewhere?

  • Using apple remote to control iTunes volume

This must have been covered before. I searched through 12 pages and couldn't find the answer. I simply want to be able to control the iTunes volume with my white apple remote. Presently it will only control system volume and I'm going out to a different device where system volume has no effect.
This is for Snow Leopard. Appreciate the help.

I too play iTunes to remote speakers (airplay express, apple TV, IOS devices running Speakers app.)  The volume buttons on my Macbook Air control the laptop speakers but won't control the iTunes application volume when playing Airplay.  Going to iTunes to click on a slider is frustrating when there are volume buttons on the laptop.
Another App solution is Airfoil from http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/mac/
There is a cost and I don't have a free Apple/Mac solution.  But with Airfoil, you can link the volume bottons to Airplay volume.  This is really a preference that iTunes should inherently provide.  But with Airfoil, I can push any audio app (Pandora, Spotify, browser audio, and even iTunes) to any number of speakers both Airplay and computer.  And Airfoil will link the volume buttons to the audio output on any of the speakers selected.  I no longer use the Airplay option from within iTunes but use Airfoil to push iTunes whereever I want and properly control volume.
Hope this helps.  Sorry it is a third party pay app as the solution when Apple could just incorporate this simple request.

  • HT204492 my apple remote wont control the volume?? any ideas??

my apple remote wont control the volume in my itunes, any ideas??

Not via the Mac. I just hooked up a TV to mine via HDMI and it shows the It comes up with the volume logo on the screen with a line through it, when I select audio output via HDMI. If you select another audio output like internal speaker yo can change volume.

  • Low audio volume in DVD SP

I've been experiencing low audio volume with burned DVDs in DVD SP 4.
The audio volume is fine in FCP, and also in the self-contained exported QT file.
But once imported into DVD SP and burned to a DVD, the volume is almost cut in half on multiple projects. The DVD's are short (< 30 minutes) so the audio is left as an AIFF file rather than converting it to an .ac3 with Compressor.
I don't see any way to control the volume in DVD SP.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

There's no way to control volume in DVDSP.
I had the same problem, but I had an ac3 file through Compressor. And there was this feature in it called "dialog normalization" that I had to turn off (setting it at -31dB), and my levels were good.
If you can't solve your problem with AIFF, maybe try ac3, and see if it suits you.

  • F11/F12 Volume Graphic Working, Not Controlling Actual Volume

First, I'm on a brand spanking new, few week old 2014 15" Retina.
I can press my F11/F12 volume buttons all day long, and even watch the graphic move each volume block left and right accordingly, but it isn't corresponding with the actual volume. The volume stays untouched, not getting louder or soft. I have the proper output source selected.
Tried a PRAM reset and rebooted several times.
I work in music, so most of the day I'm plugged into an Apogee Duet audio interface and using that as my audio output source. I've updated to their Yosemite-approved driver, but am still having some troubles with the interface (F11/F12 volume control delay, sometimes not controlling at all), so I'm wondering if there is a correlation between those issues and this.
    Any thoughts?

Does the machine produce a feedback sound when you press the volume-up/down button?
No - no feedback or any sound at all.
Does it work when you change the volume on the sound control panel?
And by "sound control panel", what exactly are you referring to? The speaker icon I have on my apple menu up top near the clock, battery and such? Or the volume slider under "sound" in system preferences?
Here is a more specific breakdown that might show the issue I am having a little more clearly:
I currently have my internal speakers selected as my device for sound output. I am playing a track in iTunes.
I am starting with what I know works - the volume slider under "sound" in system preferences. This properly and completely controls my volume up and down + mutes the sound when I check the mute box. I'm now going to keep that volume slider about half way with the track continuing to play.
Now, when I try to turn up/down my volume via F11/F12, the speaker icon pops up and the volume blocks visually change accordingly. However, the actual audible volume does nothing at all. It stays exactly the same. However, if I decrease the volume all the way to value 0, it does mute the sound. It just doesn't do anything else otherwise.
When I try to turn up/down my volume via the speaker icon on the top apple menu bar, it does nothing to change the volume either, until I hit value 0, at which point it mutes the sound.
So both F11/F12 and the speaker icon on the apple menu bar are both functioning, or should I say malfunctioning, in the same manner. Both will mute when at 0, but once past that point, the volume stays where it was previously at (which I can only set via "sound" in system preferences) no matter how I adjust the volume.
Sorry if I over-explained that. Just have no clue what is going on.

  • Audio volume in menu

I am new to DVD Studio but have worked in iDVD for quite a while. I have tried to find any control for audio volume in the Main menu of a DVD Studio project and cannot find anything. iDVD has that control for the audio portion of the main menu. How can I adjust the volume within DVD Studio?

Nope, you will need to adjust volume outside of DVD SP.

  • Audio volume level on iMac

Here's a small issue that's driving me crazy...
I like to set the audio level to maximum on my iMac because I can control the volume from my attached speakers. Trouble is, everytime I re-start the computer I have to re-set the audio level. Is there some sort of preference I can set so I won't have to re-set levels every time I start up?
    Thanks.

Sorry, I don't know how to make a link to
    this.
    Joanne,
To make a link, click the web address space/line (of the address you want to show as a link) three times and the address in the space will be covered by blue, go up to the "Edit" pull-down and select "Copy" then move the mouse pointer to where you want to deposit the link and again in the "Edit" pull-down select "Paste" to deposit the address.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=4270646#4270646
To create a link of that address, simply preceed the web address with this 1 character:<
followed immediately by this 1 character:a
followed by a blank space and then these 6 characters:href="
and after the web address follow immediately with these 2 characters:">
and then enter the name you wish to give the link:Update 10.4.9 has increased my volume drasticly
That "name" will be the part seen, the actual web address wouldn't be visible, as it is in the above example, but will look like the link example at the end of this explanation.
After you enter the name, immediately follow with the 1 character:<
and then without any space immediately follow with the 1 character:/
and then without any space immediately follow with the 2 characters:a>
Had to break up the explanation into pieces or else the result would be a live link and the explanatory symbols would not be visible, but would have looked like:
Update 10.4.9 has increased my volume drasticly

  • Control Initial Volume Level?

How can I control the audio volume level during the first few seconds before the theme menu is displayed? I found that I can adjust the audio volume during the display of the menu itself, but the lead-in volume is much louder and I haven't found any way to adjust it. If it matters, I'm using the "Marquee" theme. Thanks for any suggestions.

WIth additional searching I found another post on this topic from some months ago. I tried increasing the iMovie audio level. I'm burning another DVD now to see if that helps.
