Controlling Logic's Record button via my feet? x-tempo POK?

I want to hit record AND play guitar at the same time. So I'm thinking of picking up this wireless "Pedal Operated Keyboard"
http://emusician.com/news/emproduct_news042407/index.html
Has anyone used this to control Logic with one's feet? Is it easier to use then MIDI? Does it run out of battery every 5 minutes or loose it's connection randomly? Other suggestions? Thanks!

I love my POK. I use it in several audio apps and found it to be soooo much more simple to switch around then MIDI foot switches, dependable, feels great, etc. etc. I can not recommend it enough.

  • Red record button isn't active in transport controls in capture window

My camera is connected to my PC via firewire cable.  When I open the capture window in Premiere, and I hit play on my camera, I don't see video in Premiere's capture window and the red record button is inactive so I can't capture.  Yet when I connect or disconnect the firewire cable, I get the audio indication of each action from my computer.  This is the first time I've seen this happen.  Any ideas?
Also, I just noticed, and this would be expected, at the top of the capture window it reads, "capture device offline" and yet the controls that are active (RW, step back, play, step forward, FF, pause, stop) all work and control my camera

I figured it out.  For some reason my capture format was set to HDV instead of DV.

  • Logic 8 freezes when clicking on the recording button (audio)

I am a newbie, switched recently.
When I click on the record button, Logic 8 pauses for more than a minute before starting audio recording normally. The external hard drive where my project files are saved becomes "very active" during the pause and then works normally when audio recording starts.
Thsi happens only on the files I imported from the OMF and Midi files created on my previous DAW (Sonar6).
I tried to record audio in a blank project: no problem at all.
This is not a problem of the external drive spinning off when not used because Logic freezes everytime I click on the record button even if I do it immediately after a previous (very short) recording test so the hard drive does not have to spin back on. Tried on my 3 external drives (2 USB, 1 firewire) same problem.
All my external drives are also used with Windows so they
    have the Fat32 format.
Copied a project file to my MacBook desktop: no recording freeze problem!
Might be linked: I am a bit surprised with the project file sizes: 500 to 600 MB each file created from OMF and Midi Sonar exports! (average 5 audio tracks, 5 instrument tracks, I use Stylus RMX for drums).
They were much much smaller on my PC as Cakewalk Sonar files. Are these normal project files sizes with Logic?

At a guess I'd say - is your external drive Mac-formatted or PC formatted? Seeing as you were using Sonar, you've obviously come from the PC. You should not use FAT drives, you should format them to the native Mac format.
All my external drives are also used with Windows so they have the Fat32 format.
    Ah. There you go.

"Normal" is entirely relative. Some people's projects are much smaller. Some are much larger.

  • After the last update of logic x my record button disappeared while using M-Audio

    Hello,
I've been using Logic for ages and recorded many demo tracks with M-Audio Fast Track Pro. Recently, I updated the Logic Pro X and after that I realised that the record button in Logic Pro X disappeared even though the Fast Track Pro is plucked in in the same way as before.
I can hear the sound from the plucked mic or guitar but unable to record it.
    Thank you for any help.

    Update:
For some currently unknown reason, 10.0.5 seems to break M-Audio devices....
It may be M-Audio's fault or Logic's but at this time, it's hard to say until an explanation is forthcoming....
Please contact M-Audio and ask for their assistance....
Until a fix is available, the workaround is to roll back to 10.0.4.... assuming of course, you have backups which you should always make before upgrading/updating anything......

  • No record button on audio track in logic pro x

    Hi
Does anyone know how to get the record button onto the audio track, see above?
    Many thanks

Have you setup your audio interface in preferences? That would be the only thing I can think of as to why your're not seeing a record button.

  • Record button dissappeared after installing New Bose Monitors

    Hello Forum,
I just Installed New Bose Companion 5 Monitors...these connect via USB. They work fine with all the computer audio, but when I went to Logic, no audio, at first. Made a quick switch in the Audio Setups, got a window saying not compatible with sample rate of 44.1, clicked OK. Record button in the Edit Window dissappeared. It looks to be in MIDI now, The record button in the transport is still present but seems to be looking for digital input? I'm just trying to record simple Voice Tracks thru a Mic thru PreSonus Firebox.

My guess is something to do with this:
    http://www.novationmusic.com/answerbase/en/article.php?id=544
Incorrectly, or not at all, setting up the environment will cause you to hear that C-2 (which could be mapped to a particular drum sound if that's the instrument you have loaded).
I have noticed that deleting one of the controllers in setup gets rid of the C-2, until you restart (don't remember if you have to restart Logic, Automap, or both).
Automap 3.7 gets rid of the note-off thing, but breaks the tap tempo feature.  I rolled back to 3.4 for this reason and have learned to ignore the note off message (if you have it set up correctly the only side effect is a flashing "note off" message in the transport).
Don't remember if I started using ver2 or early v3, but I do remember not thinking it was very good.  It's gotten a little better over the updates.  If you can try updating to 3.4 and follow the instructions to a tee.

  • Can Yamaha Motif XS6 control logic transport?

I know that Yamaha is tight with Cubase but I'm wondering if the transport buttons on the Motif XS6 can be used to control Logic's transport functions? Thanks

I did that with my K2600, so I think it should be possible. n fact i´m quite sure if possible; don´t know if easy, but possible: 98% sure.
Just put Logic on Rec and press play and stop on your kb. Then open the list editor to see what was recorded. If it recorded CCs you´re lucky and will be easy (just use the learn function in Logic´s KC). If it´s SysEx what was recorded (as in the K2600) it´s still possible but more complicated. just try it and if it works reliably it´s ok. If it doesn´t work there´s a solution that used to work in L7, not sure if it still does in L8. In my case I just use MIDI notes (assigned to a couple of buttons the K2600 has and can spit notes), but I have to double check before each show because Logic "forgets" my MIDI commands. I reported that to Apple, but as usual: no answer (nor solution).

  • Assigne record button on midi controller

I have a midi controller (m-audio oxygen 25), i have a record butto0 on the controller  but i cant assigne it to logic ?! I can assign the volumes mixers on the mixers window in logic, but when you it comes to the record button.... I go ctrl+L but i cant assign this button !

You could also rig up some environment octave switches and put the buttons on a floating window on your screen. Even better, if you have a couple of spare buttons on your MIDI controller that output MIDI messages, you could rig these to control Logic's octave transforms, thus giving your your octave buttons directly on your controller.
One of the great things about Logic is this kind of thing - you can really configure things to your needs in a way you can't do with other software.

  • Recording button where did it go

The audio track has only the solo, mute, etc. buttons except for the recording button i use to be able to record on logic on my emac i just got an imac and i'm trying to find the recording button. when i click on view recording button there is only blank space where the button should be i have checked the hard wares and drivers window and it is enabled so i don't know what the problem is.
    please respond any one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    imac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)
    imac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

You should have 7.2 or above. If not Logic is running via Rosetta which I've heard is not a good thing. They sell a crossgrade for $29 via the Apple store. Check it out. Good luck.

  • Can´t get logic to record audio

ok, i´m feelin´really stupid here - but it´s true - I can´t get logic to record audio in some songs. the only thing - as far as I´m concerned - that is changed while swaping between songs are the song settings. that´s where I´ve been looking for something that´s been disabling the rec function.
I was working on a song right now which I was recording vocals on a couple of days ago, and now I was going to record some synthstrings (record to audio) and I just can´t make it happen. record path e t c seems to be ok.
    please somebody...HELP!!
    regards

    hi guys!
thanks for takin´time... I solved the problem last night and then forgotten to post what i´m doing now. but I think it´s a bug... (and it´s ok if u don´t believe me...) it´s a bit spooky...
I´ve changed the track icons to that cute little tapedeck (for the audio tracks only - buses, inputs and audio instruments have other symbols). looks nice in the arrange window. (gives me the "feel" of recording...) And the song i was working with has been like this for a couple of months. And I´ve been doing a lot of recording until yesterday when it was not possible...
For some reason i started to fiddle with the track symbol - changing it - and, yes, logic was able to record. At this time I didn´t believe that this was the reason so I changed back to the little tape deck, and yes, recording was not possible. Then I opened an autoload which had the same syndrom (at that time I didn´t bother - I just created another setup), and first trying to record - not possible - then changing the tape deck symbol (yes I used it here too - I really liked it...) and recordning was possible. It seems that if all of logics 64 audiotracks has that (from now on I will call it "ugly") tape deck symbol, at least I can´t record audio (logic won´t go in to record - no matter what - pushing buttons clicking mouse e t c) recording midi was never affected. And the "spooky" thing is that I´ve been recording (with no problems) with all of the 64 audiotracks labelled with that little "ugly" tape deck - until yesterday...
This might just b a wierd thing - but if anyone elese has a problem like this, it might help. I´m not shure weather it´s the tape deck symbol itself that causes the problem, but getting rid of it solves the same problem.
(I´m using a RME multiface and I´m not 100% shure it could have SOMETHING to do with this)
    best regards

  • Is there any iPhone midi controller that can control logic just by USB?

is there any iPhone midi controller that can control logic just by one usb insert to the mac?
Free ones would be the best!
    Thanks!

Although not USB, there are a couple of iPhone/Touch apps that can control the Mac using a wireless network. MobileMouse (free & paid versions) do a great job, as well as Logitech's TouchMouse. Both will allow you to use the touch screen to control the mouse, which essentially gives you the ability to do many things in Logic. I've used them, for example, to begin a recording, which frees me from being near the computer.
