Controlling Master and Headset at the same time

Hello,
I'm using GNOME 2.14 and using a laptop computer for all my needs. I've
3 controls (Volume Up, Down and Mute) on my laptop that I use to control
the Master channel. But if I connect a headset to listen to my music, I
have to manually change the volume from the mixer. Is there a option or
some kind of work around that I can control the Master and Headset
channels at the same time.. I want them to be the same always..?

If you have setup keyboard shortcuts to run specific commands with xbindkeys or the like, you can make them run these commands:
amixer set Master 1- & amixer set Headphone 1-
amixer set Master 1+ & amixer set Headphone 1+
You have to investigate how to match them as on my box the headphone command changes more than the master, so that you might need to use 3 -/+ from master to match 1 -/+ from headphones for example.

I've turned off home-sharing but remote still controls computer and itunes at the same time as the TV. What gives?!

I've turned off both home sharing and turned off the link from my computer to my remote via AppleTV but when I hit play on my remote to control appleTV, my itunes always opens and starts playing on my Macbook Pro. Has this happened to ahyone else? I cannot get it to stop. The only solution right now is to completely turn off my computer if I want to use appleTV.

and home sharing don't have any impact on remotes

Using adressbook and headset at the same time

Hello!
I have a Sony T610, Motorola BT-haedset and a mac.
While using 2 of three always works fine, try to make all work together doesn´t work.
While connected to the adressbook i cannot use the headset. When using the headset with the Sony adressbook cannot connect to the sony.
My intention is to configure all three together so i can left the cellular in the pocket, dial through the mac and closing the call through the button on the headset.
Has anybody sugestions for correct setup?

My SB Audigy 2 card can't use headset and musicamplifier at the same time

Hi, i just bought a SB Audigy 2 [D400] and i have downloaded drivers and programs. I run Windows XP SP2.
The soundcard works fine but it is very very annoying that i physically have to change the jack in the green=line out jack from headset to musicamplifier when i want to use my musicamplifier and change back the jack in the green=line out from musicamplifier to headset when i just want to use the headset/headphones .
In the shop they told my that i can connect both amplifier and headset at the same time and then with creative software control whether there is sound in the headset or in the amplifier. But i can't simple get it work.
I tried to use the green to the amplifier and the headset/speakers in the black (line out 2) and then with creative speaker settings softeware choose headphones but still the ampliefier receive the sound and no sound in the headphones. Why? In fact no matter what configuration i try the headphones doesn't work.
But if i change the jacks so headset is in the green line out then only headset is working and the amplifier doesn't work no matter i put it in sort=line out 2 jack or orange=line out 3 jack.
Can somebody here tell me if it is possible or not to connect both headset and external amplifier and control by software which to play? and how?

If you can have an ASIO compatible music playing system, then it might be possible to have system like you wish when using Creative Audigy 2 card. Since ASIO bypasses Windows Audio System, you can use both 'drivers' (ASIO - WDM/MME/DS) side by side.
Say you want to play a game (using headset /w mic) and someone other like to listen music at the same time. With ASIO capable system you can output your music for example to "center L/R (stereo) channels" and same time output sounds from other source (using MME/DS/WDM drivers) to normal output channel (Front L/R). Only thing is, you need to set your speakersystem to 4 or 6 (depending which other channel you're using) (and for better 'balance' to adjust "angle" on THX console. You get the THX console by installing Audigy 2 Zs software).

If you use ASIO on BeatPort Player you can select L/R individually from the list(s). Same rules as described earlier.
= You can play from 2 different sources simultaoneusly (ASIO + WDM/MME/DS) to two different outputs without disturbance. The other (WDM/MME/DS) source is set 'automatically' output to (Audigy) "green" port, and the other (ASIO) to "black" or "orange" port (as set).

Use headset and Mic at the same time

The latest MacBook Pro does not come with Mic port. How can I use my professional Mic for audio recording and my editor can listen the recording through headset at the same time.

Oh, but the Retina was irresistible.... The regulars have digital and analog audio input and output.

Using Xmarks and Sync simultaneously will create a mess.
You can create a new profile, import the bookmarks from your main profile, and set up Sync for the new profile.
The flip side is, bookmarks from your main profile would not get synced with your new profile.

Hello Mattynsavvy, welcome to the HP Forums.
It appears that you're trying to use two headphones from your notebook to do an online course.
The way that you're trying to do this probably won't work. The notebook itself only has one sound card. This card can only output audio to one device at a time. So if you have both USB headsets into ports. Only one will have sound. Just like how the headset cuts off the speakers. You would need a second sound card, or to be using speakers or another computer.
The only thing I could think of that may accomplish what you're trying is to use the audio/mic jacks on the notebook specifically with a splitter. This may allow the sound to be direct to two headsets. I can not say for certain if this will work or not.
I was able to find a few YouTube videos with various ways to achieve what you're trying to do, but as they run with 3rd party software attempting those suggestions would be completely up to you.

Is it really Tektronik or is it Tektronix. Tektronix is a major test equipment manufacturer. I can't find any reference to that model number on their site, though.
There are several resources for learning instrument control. One good place to start is http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/4357.
Assuming that you have a NI GPIB controller for the pc, you will be using the Instrument I/O Assistant or the VISA commands to send/recieve data from the current sources. Without having access to the programming manual, I can't give specifics on what commands you need to send. Your topic mentions controlling them at the same time. Truly simultaneous control is possible in only a few situations. If you have a couple current sources in the same mainframe, you may be able to send a single command to set them all. It will really depend on the commands that the vendor has implemented. With separate mainframes, you will send commands first to one, and then another, etc. Again, depending on what the vendor has implemented, it may be possible to sequentially program all sources to a ready state and then trigger all simultaneously.

Multiple headsets at the same time?

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 laptop running Win8 and Beats Audio. I desire to have 2 wireless headsets listen to the same audio program at the same time. So far it seems that, if I have 2 headsets connected at the same time, I need to select only 1 of them to hear the audio. I interpret this as a sound card restriction, but admit I could be wrong about this. If there is a way to change that restriction, I don't know how to do it. Given the hardware and software described, can anyone recommend a solution to my needs? One idea is to identify a wireless transmitter that will power 2 headsets at the same time (I am not aware of a wireless device that can do this (pairing seems to only pair to one device at a time); another idea is to find a different sound card (like a usb-based soundcard) that can handle the multiple wireless headsets. Again, I have not been able to identify the necessary hardware, if it exists. Any help will be appreciated.

How do you connect the wireless headsets ? If they use SAME ONE transmitter then nothing can stop you, you can have 3, 4 ... sets such as a radio station.

Datasocket help, want to use the same(one .ocx only) in VB and HTML at the same time

I want to create one ActiveX control that can be use in VB and HTML. My control will consist 1 CommandButton, 1 TextBox and 1 Label.
My Objective is to have real time data passing between the same control which will be used at VB and HTML at the same time.
For example, from HTML if I click a button, the text at textbox at HTML will be pass to the label at VB at the same time. And vice versa where when button at VB is click, the text at textbox at VB will be pass to the label at HTML.
Help me.

The ActiveX will be written in VB6 with Measurement Studio6. It's some sort of tutorial lesson for me to test the capability of DataSocket.
I want to create 1 control which will act as reader and writer. I am using Windows XP with IIS as web server and testing using 1 open VB6 Form with the control and 1 HTML file with the control using Data Socket Server with dstp://localhost/something. I dont know whether I need to have the script or not, what ever can do. tell me if it is the way to do. If it can be program directly in the control is better.

Charge ipod and listen at the same time?

hi,
i sit at my desk for about 8 hours at work and would like to charge my ipod at my computer via usb and listen at the same time. is this possible? it's a pc computer here at work. and it does not have itunes installed and i don't see having itunes on it as a possibility.
i don't like having to charge it, wait about an hour, then listen for a few hours, then charge it again.
also, do you notice any battery "leakage"? i mean, i have some battery power at night when i turn it off, (yes, i do turn it off b/c the screen goes blank) and then when i get into work and try to turn it on, i get this battery looking thing and have to charge it.
it's possible that the ipod came on while i was walking (it's in my bag), but this happens too often for me to think that it does.

IP over Firewire and ethernet at the same time?

Is it possible to use both IP over Firewire and ethernet at the same time?
I want to use my TB hard drive attached to one Mac via Firewire 800 to backup another Mac also attached to the same drive via Firewire 800. I can only mount the drive on one machine at a time so I need to share it out to the other Mac. It works great if I set it up to do strait IP over Firewire, with static IPs, but that means I can't connect to the internet because my ethernet connection on both machines becomes the secondary connection method. Similarly, if ethernet is primary then I can't connect via Firewire. Is there a way to set it up so the Macs will know which method to use depending on the IP address?
I am using 10.5.1 on both machines.
G5, 1.8 GHz, 15.GB RAM
MBP, 2.4 GHz, 4GB RAM

Certainly.
In the network control panel I set Built-in FireWire to the top of the service order list, followed by Built-in Ethernet.
Next, I set Built-in FireWire to Configure Manually with the address 192.168.1.xxx and the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.xxx, making sure the Subnet Mask is set the same on both machines and that the IP address is different on both machines and different from the Built-in Ethernet addresses.
I applied the settings, turned on Sharing on both machines, then mounted whatever shared drives I needed by connecting to the other machine using the FireWire IP address.
Now I am able to share drives using FireWire 800 - which works great when used with Time Machine - and still use my normal ethernet to surf, etc..

Very sorry for this newbie question. Can i have my iMac wired to my computer with ethernet and wireless at the same time?
If so, what ports to i plug what into?
My guess is modem-wan port on extreme and a cable going wired from the ethernet port on the extreme to the iMac?
Do i need to do any configuring?

Now you can actually do what you are talking about with an extreme.. an extreme can, in theorey operate as an remote/relay taking incoming signal giving you one - four out bound ethernet ports
that info can be found in the manual on setting up a WDS
the only thing to remember is .. the weakest leg controls.. if your wireless signal to the relay is poor. any thing using the relay for access will also be poor
