Controlling multiple Keynote presentation machines at once.

Does anyone know of a network based program that will allow me to control multiple machines running Keynote? I have a multiple screen application that needs to have 3 Keynote presentations going "in sync".  I found mention of a 2006 program called Keyshowx from a website called keywebx.com. Unfortunately, it looks like this website no longer functions, so I am unable to purchase the program.
Does anyone have an idea of how this might be done?
Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Did you ever find a solution to this?  I'm in the same boat, looking for a solution to sync Keynotes runnings on multiple macs, and everyone on the web points to that KeyshowX application, which is not longer available.
Cheers,
Peter

  • Multiple Keynote presentations onto iDVD?

I am trying to create a DVD with multiple keynote presentations? I first created multiple QT files and created a DVD that worked well, but did not allow for manual progression when played form the DVD (even with the option selected on QT file creation). Manual progression works when the file is played from my computer but not when played from DVD.
Next, I tried to export the files directly from Keynote to iDVD. However, I can't figure out how to get multiple files onto the same iDVD file.
Any thoughts on how I can get accomplish:
    1) Multiple Keynote files onto the same DVD, with
    2) manual progression through slides when running from the DVD?
    Thanks!

You have some great suggestions here. Very good info from both the above posts.
There is a workaround but it doesn't involve iDvd. Rather it involves Keynote => iMovie as a .dv stream => minidv camcorder/ tape => set top DVD Recorder in sessions.
Here’s a possible solution that involves exporting each individual keynote movie as a QT file / Movie to the desktop.
From there you export each file as a .dv stream to your camcorder (assuming you have a minidv camera and iM6 which allows you to export back to the camera. Like this:
You record all the movies to minidv tape.
Connect the camcorder to the digital FW input on a set top DVD Player / Recorder (in my case a Daewoo DVR07). Set the recorder to record in Sessions to rewrite able DVD-RW media and export one QT movie per session. Each session will have it’s own Basic Menu.... like this:
You’d have to use the remote control to play each movie and pause when appropriate.
Btw .... it might also be possible to use Toast to record these QT files/movies in separate sessions onto one DVD.

  • How can I control a keynote presentation on my iPhone from my iPad?

I have Keynote installed on both my iPhone and iPad.  I would like to be able to remotely control a presentation using my iPad.  I would like the iPhone to display the slideshow while I remotely control the show using my iPad.  I currently can control the show in the opposite way-my iPhone can easily find and control the slideshow displaying on the iPad.  I really want to display the show on the iPhone while using the larger screen of the iPad to control the show while I read the presenter's notes.  I only seem to be able to display on the iPad and use the iPhone as a remote control.  (I know that this is probably the preferred user method.)  The iPad will not even detect the iPhone when looking for devices.  Both are on the same WiFi network and have bluetooth turned on.  Does anyone know why the control only works in one direction or how to reverse control?

If I am understanding your question correctly what you are wanting to achieve is not possible. You can't run the same keynote presentation on both devices at the same time. Also, why would you want to use the small screen size of the iPhone as your display instead of the iPad? If it is just to see your presenter notes then print them out and use the iPhone as your remote.
Perhaps more info is needed so i fully understand your issue.

  • How do I fire multiple Keynote presentations on a Network?

Hi I work for a small theatre. We are running three projectors each with it's own different keynote slide show. We need to fire all three slideshows at the same time. The computers we are using are Mac Minis.
Can this be down using a router and a local network connection? Maybe a fourth mac firing the other three?
Will the apple remote or a kensington remote trigger more than one computer? Something like a tv remote does with the same brand tvs.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forums!
This Apple help article says that one remote can indeed control multiple computers.

  • Can a remote be used to control a Keynote presentation from an iPad?

I use a Macbook for my lectures.  I use a mouse to control the presentation.  Can this be done with an iPad?

sure. Get "keynote remote" from Apple, 99 cent app from the appstore.
Works with keynote 09, latest update 5.1 ( iwork update 9.1 ) applied you can connect your idevice in the Apps settings.
You'll even have the moderator notes on your iDevice while you control the slides that the Mac Desktop should view.

  • Launch multiple keynotes presentations each on different display

I have a Mac Mini connected to 2 displays and would like to present two different presentations one on each screen.
I know how to write a script to launch each as a separate instance of keynote. My question is how can I assign it to a particular display.
    #!/bin/bash
    open -n /Users/user/Desktop/Presentationname1.key
    open -n /Users/user/Desktop/Presentationname1.key
So I wind up with presentation 1 on display 1 and presentation 2 on display 2.
    Thanks
    James Denney

This can not be done it Keynote because of the way it takes complete control of the graphics system.
If you need two separate presentations running, you will need two Macs to run them.

  • I can link my iPhone to my Mac, but cannot control a Keynote presentation from the iPhone

I've gone through the steps of linking my iPhone 5 to my MacBook Pro with Keynote.
When linking, I see the passcode on both devices, click Confirm, but then the iPhone shows "Looking for MacBook-hs..." and fails. The device list on the iPhone shows the MacBook with a checkmark next to the name. They are on the same WiFi network.
The instructions on the Apple site say, "It may take a few seconds for your remote device to connect to your computer. Once it has, your remote device will display the Play button." But I never see the Play button. The two devices are on the same WiFi network, and they're linked, but I can't use it as a remote.
I have the latest version of everything, I believe.
    What can I try?
    thanks

Thanks, but I looked into that, but it didn't help Bluetooth was on for both devices.
I still get the big "!" with the text "Make sure Keynote is open on MacBook-hs and that your devices are on the same Wi-Fi network."
Keynote is on, that's the computer name, and they're on the same Wi-Fi network.

  • Is it possible to hide Accessibility Voiceover Cursor when connecting to Bluetooth Remote Control in Keynote presentation on iPad?

Hi team, I would like to know
When I use my Satechi Bluetooth pointer (linked in Accessibility mode) with keynote on iPad there is a box around the items in my slides. Is there a way to remove this box?
like these comments on this video

I didn't get any of those boxes for 2 years but if I remember well it just started to appear after either upgrading to Ios8 or updated Keynote, can't recall exactly.
Any idea on how to solve this?
Thanks so much for your time and help in this!

  • Can I use my iPhone 5c to control my iPad keynote presentations

I teach a children's class every Sunday and I use Keynote mainly along with itunes (music). I have many slides and sometimes movies to show. I was wondering if there was a way to leave my ipad stationary and control my ipad presentation(s) with my iphone (5c)? I have the latest updates of 7. Thanks for your time, Mike

Even a blind hog can find an acorn sometimes. I upgraded to the latest verson of 7 and viola there it was. I can now use my iphone to control a Keynote presentation! I have done so time and time again and it works every time. Anway, thanks to everyone who took a peep, Mike

  • Can I Control Keynote Presentations on The iPhone FROM The iPad

Whilst I can see the joy of using the iPhone as a remote to control a Keynote presentation on the iPad but it seems wholly illogical that when showing a presentation through a projector or large TV screen I can't use the iPad to control a Keynote presentation on the iPhone.  It's a much easier platform to use, especially when sitting down, and would be easier to read the presenter's notes.
I know that techincally this can be done, I have already tried it, but the Keynote remote app seems to be only for the iPhone, which makes it too small for the iPad, plus it doesn't display presenter's notes.
Has anyone else come across this and if so, is there an answer out there?
    Cheers

    You don't.
There is no infrared receiver on the iPhone.

  • Controlling multiple iPads for a presentation

Just wondering if anyone knows of a good method to run a presentation on multiple ipads simultaneously?
I'd like to hand out iPads at a boardroom meeting and control them all from a central device.
    Thanks

SyncPad says it can share presentations, though the web site isn't clear on how it does it or what it allows. I doubt it allows direct display of Keynote presentations, animated or not. It might be worth a look, though:

  • How can I get back to my Keynote presentation once I've linked to a website?

I've created a Keynote presentation. On one slide, I have a link to a relevant Vimeo video on the web. It gets there seamlesly. However, when the 4 minute video is done playing, I can't return to my presentation. If I "x" out of Safari, my Keynote is gone.  I've tried hitting esc but that doesn't work either.
    Thanks for your help.

Use application switcher to display Keynote ; (command  tab) press the command key then tap the tab key then release.

  • Multiple Keynotes play at once???

Here is the situation. I support an art department. One of the profs wants to be able to play two keynotes at the same time on one computer through two projections systems at the same time. He wants to do compare/contrast of two images. Putting both images in one slide in one Keynote is not satisfactory for him because the images are not projected large enough. Is what he wants possible? In essence I would have three displays for the Mac as an extended desktop. What do I need to extend the desktop to three monitors total. (the projectors we have are VGA connectors) Will it take a second video card? Is there a video switch box that will do it?

Here's another possibility: You could purchase a VGA splitter such as the Matrox Dualhead2Go http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/products/dh2go/digital/home.php
Double the width of your Keynote presentation. (eg. if your current presentation is 800x600, customize it to 1600x600. Then you could put the images side by side on the same Keynote slide, but each would appear on its own projector.
Not a perfect solution, but it might help.

  • Multiple audio files in Keynote presentations

While working within a Keynote presentation, I wanted to create a presentation that had background music. However, at one point in the presentation, I wanted to simultaneously end one audio file and begin the next audio file. I added the audio files as objects, and in Build Inspector, ordered all objects. I succeeded in building out the first audio file and building in the second audio file, however, instead of the second file beginning immediately, there is a 7-8 second delay even though I started the build immediately after the build before to end the first audio file. Is it possible to do what I am trying to do?

Try the following; it works for me.
First Audio clip: Build-in (Start Audio) will begin playback
Build-out (Stop Audio) will end playback.
Second Audio clip: Build-in (Start Audio) will begin playback
To have first clip end when second begins, create a Build-Out (Stop Audio) and have the Build-In (Start Audio) of the second clip occur simultaneously with the Build-Out of the first clip.
By the way, you can have these audio clips associated with a slide and still have an audio track running in the background as a Soundtrack. Be sure, however, that you record the various audio tracks at an appropriate level before you import them into Keynote because you cannot balance them while in Keynote.

  • Using After Effects to create dynamic keynote presentation

    Hey everyone,
I am working on a project that involves adding dynamic content to a keynote presentation - short animations that must coincide with a spoken presentation that is being given.
I am unsure on what the best way is to do this..
I was thinking of creating small movie clips that live in each frame of a keynote presentation. That way the presenter could move through the slides as he spoke and the movies would match up with what he is saying, rather than making one large movie that is paused and played as he spoke.
Does anyone know of any examples of presentations that are like this? I can't find any online.
    Thanks.
    Neal

I would definitely build segments into each slide so the Presenter or operator has clean, foolproof control over each segment's playback. You don't want to be fiddling with pause controls on the day.
I'd create the movie in one AE comp, with 1 second static points at the pause locations (with absolutely nothing animated at those points) so that the pauses are seamless.
From there, it's up to you.
You can render multiple Quicktime segments as a Quicktime-per-slide for the Keynote presentation.
You can render one long Quicktime, then use Quicktime Pro (or any non-linear editor) to export each segment as a Quicktime-per-slide for the Keynote presentation.
Or, you can render one long Quicktime, place it into each slide of the Keynote presentation, and define in and out points for playback on each page using the Keynote Inspector's Quicktime tab.
I use Quicktime Animation codec at 85% quality (with keyframes) for this kind of job, and have no problem playing HD 1080 files from a 7200RPM hard drive. It is far cleaner looking than H.264 or any other MPEG variants, but small enough for reliable playback.
