Controlling Resolution of .pdf

Hello,
I'm building some charts that I need to offer as downloadble .pdfs and want to be able to control the size of the image that get's printed out after downloading. I'm doing a 'Save as .pdf' but when I open in Preview the chart is only about 320x240.
How do I print a slide that takes up most of an 8.5x11 sheet of paper?
Thanks.

I can;t see how to read the replies. I got one, but all it says is topic moved to pdf pack forum

  • How do I prevent Acrobat XI Pro from seizing control of inline pdf files in Safari?

I prefer to view pdf files in Preview, but Acrobat rudely grabs control of the pdf functionality in Mac Safari. In the initial screen I choose NO when Acrobat asked if I wanted to use it for viewing browser pdf files, but it paid me no mind.
There is no Acrobat plug-in installed in Library > Internet Plug-Ins, and can find nothing in Safari or Acrobat prefs to allow me to prevent this.
I do not like wasting my life with such nonsense.

  • How can I tell what resolution a PDF is?

Hi. Can anyone please tell me how to tell what resolution a PDF is? Thanks in advance.

PDF files are not images, but vector-based documents. They don't have a
single resolution. They can contain images with varying resolution settings.

  • Table control resolution in BDC

    Hi
    All
I have one doubt regarding table control resolution in BDC .I know how to handle table control like if i have 5 rows in my TABLE CONTROL.I write the logic according to this rows and if more than 5 rows are there in my flat file i extend the atble control. But this logic will fail in some other system if more than 5 rows are there in that syatem. But I have read from  some where that we can use ctu_params structure and if we pass default size as 'x' then it automatically take cares in every sysem. But my doubt is while writing the code initially how can  we write ie i mean how many rows i have to mention initially in my logic .
Please tell me the answer to this question if you have already face this type of problem.
    Thanks and regards
    Venkateswar

    Hi,
The numeber of lines of table control for BDC depend on screen resolution, but It can't be managed by program.
So the better solution is to create a bdc doesn't depend on resolution.
It can do that using always the first two lines of table control.
When you start the simulation, first record has to be placed in first line of tc and the second in second one.
Before placing the third record, it needs to place the second record to the top and so the third record can be placed in the second line.
Before placing the next record, it needs to place the third record to the top and so the fourth record can be placed in the second line and so.
In this way your BDC'll use alwways the first two lines of tc and your program won't depend on resolution.
The problem is the transaction you need to simulate by BDC has to have a scroll functionality to allow to place the last record was elaborated to the top of tc, so the second line of tc can always be used to place the new record.
If there isn't this functionality, it's better to use a BAPI instead of BDC.
    check these...

  • Possible to embed video with controls in FM PDF?

I have a very specific end in mind, and I'd like to know from you folks who might have done this before if it's even possible, and if so, the steps to follow to achieve it. Here goes...
I'd like to take an ordinary AVI file, convert it FLV in Media Encoder so it's of a manageable size, bring that into Flash in order to add controls to it (stop, start, pause, etc.), import the SWF file into FrameMaker and export a stand-alone PDF file than includes the video, without needing to reference any external files or servers or anything like that. Just one PDF file that includes the demonstration video and the means to run it.
Right now the show-stopper seems to be it's possible to create a SWF file with controls, OR a SWF file that encorporates an embedded video source, but NOT BOTH at the same time. Anything that enables you to have controls seems to insist on referring to an external file, which I need to avoid.
Then the problem becomes is it even possible to import such a SWF file, with working controls, into FM and thread it through to a PDF file where it will function as such?
Anyone who can point me the way, I'd be much obliged. And thank you.

Thanks, but I've seen that file before. While it's interesting to learn you can create links below a video to do this, the really ironic thing is that the PDF file contains video presentations making use of the controls that I'm looking to include (see graphic). In fact, it was this very document that got me interested in seeing how to do this in the first place. Now, I might be mistaken, but I don't think this is a solution available inside FrameMaker itself and I'm really after a cross-application procedure from someone who's done this in the past. I appreciate the input, though.

  • Text control boxes in PDF's created in InDesign

Not sure if this was the best place to post this, but I'm new to using InDesign and not sure who to ask.  Here is my dilemma:
I have created an exercise book in Word.  There are various sections, some have questions while others are more of a journal.  I have added a Rich text Content control box which will allow users to type in their answers or add daily content to the journal and the boxes expand as long as they are inserting text.  The section breaks keep the headers and footers in the correct placement.  This also allows them to print the document with all of their answers showing.
Now, the problem is that, while the client likes this, they don't like that the headers and footers are grayed out and the colors are not as vibrant in Word as the program part I created and saved as a PDF.  They also don't like that if we keep this as a Word document, all the text is editable.
So my question is, can I create a PDF that has the same features with the expandable text control boxes.  If I can, would you recommend InDesign to do this?

They're being a bit impractical in their complaints, in fact they remind me of my Dad!  The final product is still fine.

That's fair enough, the solution would be to make the text in the header and footer an image instead.

No you can't.  I'm pretty sure you can't create a PDF with expandable boxes and I'm very sure that you can't create a PDF that will add pages with headers and footrs.  However you can create a PDF with basic fillable text boxes, they're called forms and you need Acrobat as well to do it, google it and you'll find plenty of info.

  • Size/Resolution of PDF Created by Illustrator?

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how Illustrator determines the resolution of a PDF file when using the 'Save As' command.
Here's what we're trying to do. We've created some web site concepts for a client and want to show them a PDF. But it's important that they see the comps at "100%" of size, or screen resolution, so that they can tell the real size of the type and other elements.
Currently, the Illustrator document is setup using pixels as measurement. And when viewed at 100%, everything is proper relative to how it would look in a web browser. But when we save as a PDF and open in Acrobat, viewing at 100% is too big. Just by eyeballing it, it looks like it needs to be viewed in Acrobat at 75% to be correct. But this is probably just on my screen with it's resolution. Not sure if this would translate to client (probably on PC).
    - Any ideas???
I almost considered creating JPEGs and putting on a web server, but then all the type is rasterized and looks horrible. I'm open to other suggestions.
    THANKS!

But since the purpose is to simulate the image at 100% on screen, the rasterization of the text makes no difference. You could use an effect to rasterize the text with aliasing before saving the PNG. But for what purpose? Any browser in use today antialiases text anyway.

  • How to control text for PDF Files in the BI7.0 Broadcaster

    Hi ,
I am running a web template in the BI7.0 Broadcaster. The output prints in the PDF format. In the precalculation tab I have set up 4 variables(VAR1,VAR2 .. etc) . The main folder where these PDF files get stored I can control the text but dont know how to change the PDF file names which fall into this folder. All the PDF files have the technical name and number(like XXX_00000,XXX_00001 etc.) How can I control the text for these files.
    Thanks,
    Kal

    HI Kal,
it is not possible to get any influence on the filenames. If you use Filternavigation the filename is generated to be unique.

  • Add audio files and control play in pdf

Hi, newbie here.  I have a set of large text documents in Word and corresponding mp3 audio files.  I am trying to create pdf's with the audio files embedded at specific points in the text.  I can put audio in and play it, but there is no controls for the audio.  I have seen a pdf file with a play-pause-stopbar that works, but cannot figure out how to do it.  Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Using Acrobat Pro7 (can upgrade if needed).  Thanks
Just another thought, is there a small flash player that can be mbedded into a pdf?

Thanks. I have upgraded and used the new conversion to Flash for the mp3 and
it works well.  The look of the player isn't the greatest but it suits my
    needs.  Thanks again.

  • InDesign CS6 (Windows7) does not print a TIFF in full resolution to PDF

I have CS6 file with a TIFF (300dpi), this Indesign file is again linked to another CS6 file. When exporting the later file with Adobe PDF (print), everything is correct except that the TIFF is in low resolution.
With CS5.5 it works with the same workflow and files (XP machine)
When printed (Adobe Acrobat X Pro) everything is fine.
If exported using Adobe PDF (interactiv) it works also with CS6 (also using the distiller?)
    Is this a bug in CS6 (8.0.2) ?

Hope this gives a better idea of the problem.
I didn't get the impression that there was a misunderstanding of your assertions; except perhaps your conclusion that it can only be an InDesign "bug."
Of course if it really was a bug, we'd all be able to reproduce it, and my attempts to do so have failed.
Similar/same test; Windows 7; InDesign CS6; 300ppi TIFF image; one instance placed directly, and another nested in a placed InDesign file...
Note: If I have missed something about your problem, I apologize. Please inform me of it and I'll adjust my approach accordingly.
    Exported to PDF/X-4 (defaults)
I don't know that I think Willi's on the right track with his server speed theory, but I'd say there is something at your end causing the result you get.

  • Scan resolution of PDF file from HP Officejet 4630

Hi, I'm running Mac OS9.1 and a HP Officejet 4630, and the HP Scan App. Appears to scan correctly, image in the App is good but when I save from the Scan app the PDF image is approx 4 times the size of the A4 page, ie when I open the PDF file only the top left quarter of the scanned page is visible and the text is enlarged and stretched slightly horizontally. I have tried a number of different scan resolutions and color depth options without any success

I saw your post about the scanning issue you are having with your Officejet 4630 on Mavericks. I have some ideas that might help!

Re-add the printer (not the AirPrint driver)
