yes, as soon as you move the mouse when a movie is playing, it will give you the controller under the movie.

After transferring to retina 15" display macbook pro, keynote started to delete videos from the presentations without leaving a sort of mark or placeholder but just an empty slide.

You should have a backup in the first place. If you don't, buy an external drive (they're inexpensive these days) and make a Time Machine or a clone backup (using Carbon Copy Cloner).
Then take your machine to your local Apple Store or an AASP and let them diagnose the computer. See if they can isolate what may possibly be making the 'clicking' sound.

Can you control videos in Keynote for iPad?

Just got hold of my first iPad and I'm putting together a simple Keynote presentation on it. So far really impressed with how slick the Keynote app is, apart from one thing however...
When you include a video on a slide, there seems to be absolutley no way of controlling it. Am I missing something here??
I've got a 1.5 minute long video on a slide. When I tap once, it starts playing. However that seems to be it... there is no way to pause, scrub, or even start the video again...all you can do is tap again to advance to the next slide, then swipe back to go back and start the video again.
Seems crazy?! The app has so many other advanced features I would have thought this one was quite easy...

Without a link, it's anybody's guess.
It could be a problem the video rendering itself. Which software did you use?
Did you export to the 3 file types -- MP4, OGG and WEBM to support all browsers?
Does your web server support those 3 MIME file types?

Best way to control audio over multiple slides-iMovie or QT Pro?

I have a 30-slide presentation, and due to the horrendous handling of audio files by Keynote I need figure out the least painful way of controlling audio spanning multiple slides.
My end goal is to have a Quicktime file to put on the web, and to burn to a CD or DVD for viewing on individual computers. There is audio spanning 3 slides (a Garageband mix with voiceover narration built in,)and different audio for background for different groups of slides.
Least painful method to attempt this and get ACCURATE TIMING for the end product?

Make a series of Keynote presentations, one for each complete audio track. Export each as a QuickTime DV (digital video) clip. Launch iMovie and import the clips into a single iMovie project; tweak each clip's audio, as necessary. Finally, export the assembled iMovie to your intended QuickTime format.

Keynote is not designed to produce printed media, it is set up is for video. There are dozens of applications that are designed for printed output on the Mac, Pages, Word, In design, Quark, Open Office, Libra.
Pages is the accompanying application in the iWork suite that is specifically designed to print to paper, you should look at that first as it May be on your Mac already.

Video across multiple slides

hi, is there any way i can get any version of keynote to play video across multiple slides, i have a looping starfield video that i want to play behind the whole of a pretty complex award show presentation, due to each slide already having 58 builds its not preally practicle to have all the stuff merged into one slides so video behind the full show is really my only option

No it is not possible to have a movie play across multilple slides in Keynote. But there might be a workaround. Is the final video going to be automatically playing where you have preset all the timing or are you going to be clicking through it as you go?
If you are going to time everything out and then just have it play, one option (which I have never tried) would be to make the background of all the slides green. Then export to iMovie and use the Greenscreen feature to put the lopping starfield video behind it. Like I said, I have never tried to use the greenscreen feature, so I have no idea how well it will work, but would be worth a try.

Multiple videos on one slide

i finally got a video to play within my keynote (for iPad) slide. *not full screen, but within the design.
my problem is that i want to have 3 tiny videos playing at the same time, each about 175px x 90 px tall.
What's happening is that the first video appears and plays. But when the second video appears and starts to play the FIRST video stops. Then when the third video appears and plays (and loops) while second stops and the first remains stopped.
I'd like them all three to play and loop simultaneously. This works on the mac side. Could it be a limitation of the iPad hardware?
I'm open for suggestions.

Buttons to control video not working

I have tried to make simple buttons to control play, stop, paus and play again of a video. When that did not work I found the below instructions, and made movieclips for the buttons to use with the imported FLVPlayback (with none skin).
In step 2 I choose play (for the first play-button/movieclip).
In step 3, there is no video to choose in the box - only my own movieclips.
In step 4 - what's the difference?
In step 5 - there is no setting field...

Select the video to control.
Select a Relative or Absolute path.
If required, select settings for the behavior parameters and click OK.

Change length of individual slide. Keynote 6.2 Mavericks

In general I want 5 second slides with a 1 sec. dissolve between. Slide show is autoplay.
But some slides have video clips that last longer than 5 sec. and they are getting cut off.
I also want to set a few slides to less than 5 sec.
The only slide length setting I see is under Document which seems to be a global setting.

1 - Set the presentation to normal:     Inspector > Document > Presentation Type
2 - in the navigator panel, select all the slides (command A)
3 - in the Inspector > Animate > start transition; automatically
         set the display time of the slide in the delay box
4 - if you need different display times for each slide, select each slide in turn in the
          navigator panel, and enter the duration in the time delay box
5 - for the slide that has video:   select the slide in the navigator, enter the play duration
          of the video in the delay box, the maximum duration allowed is 600 seconds

Captivate 7 HTML 5 publish does not play multiple videos on same slide on Android devices

I have a captivate module which has 2 videos on same slide. There are 2 buttons, clicking on which the videos appears. However when i test this on iPad or any Android device, it plays on 1 video. I used Event video. Can someone please help me on this?

I don't think you are missing anything. I am using the "Light_PAssage" animantion, but switching to the one you used has no impact.
For me, if there is a text animation on slide one, it will play in File->Preview->Play Slide. It will not play in FIle->Preview->Project, From this slide, or Next 5 slides.
The issue occurs in all my Captivate 5 projects, including projects that previously generated properly working outputs as recently as 2/23/2011.
Is it possible it's related to Flash player? I am using Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX 10.2.152.26.
I will send an example cptx to your email address. The example includes a blank slide one, and the text on slide 2 plays as expected in the previews and in the generated output. If I remove the blank slide 1, the text animation on the new slide 1 no longer plays.

Control video wirelessly from Macbook

I would like to control video on a television wirelessly from my macbook. I basically want to control playback on a television during a short film shoot. In a perfect world I would use iMovie so that I could easily scroll to and from some very specific points in the video depending on continuity during filming. And then, of course, it would play on the tv. We are looking for a real quick, no hassle, way of controlling this video.
Will Apple TV wirelessly put what is on my macbook screen onto the television?????? If this were the case I could sync from iMovie and then play iMovie in full-screen mode and see it on the tv.

no appleTV won't do this... appleTV allows you to access iTunes media (movies, music and online radio) wirelessly though an interface that appears on your TV...
in addition you can play music from iTunes on you computer through the appleTV to you stereo system but there is no synonymous thing with video.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).
