Controlling which devices Facetime rings

Hi Forum,
we now have 3 iOS and 4OSX devices in the house, under one Apple ID and 2 iCloud IDs. 2 iClouds IDs for me and my wife, one Apple Id for purchases across all the dvices and so we only pay once.
With this set up, how do i control what calls what when i call from one of my devices with my iCloud Id to my wifes device and her iCloud ID? i dont even think the iCloud id matters, i just threw it in for set up clarity...

Hi,
If you force users to use RD Gateway to connect then you could configure the RD Connection Authorization Policy (RD CAP) to only allow computers that are a member of certain groups.  For non domain-joined devices there isn't really a built-in method
to control which devices can connect.

  • HT1386 How do I control which device's iCal is controlling the sync?

I make changes to my calendar on my iPad, but when I sync it with my computer it defaults to the iMac calendar and erases what is on the iPad. How do I control which device is the sync-er and the sync-ee?

    Are you using iCloud?
If so, both teh Mac and iPad should be using iCloud.
Do not sync the calendar with iTunes.

  • Is it possible to control which devices connector to which router

I have an dual band (N/G?) AP extreme with what I guess is a N-band AP express extending the network.
When I open airport utllity and select each device it gives me a list of devices connected to each router.
We have 2 ipods, 3 iphones, 1 ipad and 1 imac and 1 apple TV connecting among each of the devices.
The apple TV is connected to the airport express.  Does this mean it is operating at less than G speed and could it be the reason why my streaming to apple TV is slow at times?
Can one control which of the two routers, extreme or express the various devices in our house connect to?

Never mind, i figuered it out. "RunState.Caller" were setting values in the wrong sequence.

  • Can you control which devices are on network

Is there an application to control and monitor the Airport Extreme Base Station Network?
I'd like to be able to shut down access to, for example, my kids' devices at night without shutting down the whole network.

Timed Access in AirPort Utility will allow you to control individual devices and the times that the device is allowed to connect to the wireless network.
For example, you could setup Junior's iPad to be allowed to connect to the network Weekdays between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM. Junior would not be able to connect to the network at any other times than those listed.
Another device could be setup to have access to the network Weekdays between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM, and so forth.
Devices that do not have a specific rule set up for them are allowed to connect to the network at any time.

  • HT204380 How does a user of multiple Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac laptop) designate which devices will ring when an incoming Facetime call comes in.  If all three are online, should they all be able to accept an incoming video call?

A friend of mine has an iPhone with a cellular data plan, a Macbook Pro, and a mini-iPad.  She's been using Facetime, but says that all of the devices used to ring at the time of an incoming Facetime call.  Now only her iPhone rings.  How do you set whichever device you want to ring?

James: I agree. Please keep them shorter.
The answers to both questions are no.
The iPad is NOT a computer replacement. It is a mobile device.
The iPad can not stream tro the iPhone nor an iPod.
    Hope this helps....

  • How can I control which email FaceTime uses?

When my daughter uses FaceTime from her Mac, both my wife's and my iPads ring.  She would like to be able to choose to FaceTime just one of us at a time.  When she initiates the call from her Mac, she chooses my wife's email address, but I also get the call even though that address is not entered in my iPad's FaceTime settings as an address that I can be reached at.  The same happens if she tries to call just me, my wife also gets the call.  My wife and I have no email addresses listed on our FaceTime settings in common.  The thing we do have in common is an Apple ID with the credit card we share, so all purchases are done through that Apple ID.  My wife has a separate Apple ID on her iPad for everything else though.
Any ideas on how to allow my daughter to choose which of us that she'd like to contact?

    For Apple IDs, we have:
My iPad:  [email protected] (this is our shared account with credit card for purchases)
    Wife's iPad:  [email protected]
    Daughter's Mac:  daughter [email protected]
We don't have iPhones, so there are no phone numbers in our settings for how we can be reached.  None of us share the same email addresses in our "You can be reached at" settings.  My wife had her work email address there, along with her AppleID address, but the work email said "verifying" next to it, but that has probably said that for years.  My daughter tried that email, and my wife's Apple ID emails, and every time my iPad also rang.  Even after my wife completely removed her work email, my daughter was able to make a FaceTime call to that address and got both of us.
I appreciate your help on this, but these were what I thought were obvious settings to check and already checked them all.  What seems to be obvious to both of us, is not working.  Weird.

  • How do i control which device controls

I can't figure out how to transfer my data from my iphone to my desktop. every time i sync my phone i have to resync it with my laptop to get my info back. i have mobile me but don't see where you can set this up it the 'control panel'

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Check your settings in iTunes it sounds like you're overwriting the current blank contents of the iMac onto the iPhone.
To set up this iMac with MobileMe go to  menu > System Preferences* > Mobile Me.
To set up MobileMe on the iPhone go to Mail, Contacts and Calendars.
    regards

    * System Preferences were have been names such since 10.0.0. OS 9.2.2 and lower called it Control Panels.

  • I have two children each with an ipod which has FaceTime - I have the iphone 4s with FaceTime.  All of these devices are connected to itunes through the one account.  How do I set up the FaceTime on the two ipods so as it doesn't ring both of them?

I have two children each with an ipod which has FaceTime - I have the iphone 4s with FaceTime.  All of these devices are connected to itunes through the one account.  How do I set up the FaceTime on the two ipods so as it doesn't ring both of them?

I started to do that then it said that this will become their apple I.D or similar and then I thought that will disconnect them from the same iTunes?  I want them still on my iTunes as they are only young (8 and 10)?  Or have I got this all wrong and even if I do set them up with a different e-mail will they still be on my itunes?  For example if they want to purchase an App will it still go through my account even if they use their ipod?

  • Can I control which of my devices shows photo stream

can I control which of my devices shows photo stream?  I want to be able to store my photos privately in iCloud.  I have my sons iPods synced to my iTunes Library but do not have my pictures on their devices.  Can this be in the iCloud without going to all devices?

The only way to prevent a device from showing your photo stream photos is to either go to Settings>iCloud and turn off photo stream on the device or to not share the same iCloud account with the device.  If you want to turn off photo stream on your son's iPod you can then go to Settings>General>Restrictions, set a restrictions passcode, then go to Accounts (at the bottom) and set to Don't Allow Changes.  This will prevent him from changing this setting without the passcode.  (If you do this, be sure to write down the restrictions passcode.  If you ever lose it, the only way to remove it from the device is to restore it as a new device, without using the backup, losing all data and start over.)

How do I find out which device answered FaceTime?  I did not answer, but it shows that it was answered by another device.  Is there anyway to figure this out?

Well go look at your other devices..
Are you sharing your apple id for facetime with anyone else?

  • How can i determine which devices are used at the moment?

    Hi all,
I am designing an interface with LabVIEW for uing agilent devices. My work colleagues will use this interface.  I want to determine which devices are used at the moment and if I determine used device, i will add automatically device names to interface's main vi. So all my work colleagues can see on the program which devices are used by another colleague. This devices are connected with GPIB. İ want to learn is there any function on Instrument I/O palette.
    Thanks,
    Omer
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Omer,
so those devices are connected to the PC with a GPIB connection. Will your collegues run several DAQ programs at the same time?
GPIB-devices being controlled by PC don't have a "in use"-signal. They wait for commands, execute them and send an answer. When you start to control them using two programs they may respond to both programs, mixing up settings/measurement values and so on.
That being said: In MAX you can see all devices connected to your GPIB port. You could scan the GPIB port using VISA commands in your program. You might even try to access a certain device by it's VISA alias. I really don't know if you will get a "device nopt available" error message when that VISA alias is in use by a different program - but you might do a quick test on your own…

One way of doing this is to use either a ring or enum where the strings
presented to the user are "1", "10", or whatever you like. On the
diagram, the values will be 0, 1, 2, in a compact counting sequence.
Then do an array index into a constant. If this is done more than one
place, make the control a typedef so you can keep them consistent an
    d
make the index be done in a subVI. Then whenever you need this, you
drop the control and the subVI, out comes the integer, float, or
whatever it is you want to index.

  • How do I stop all of my devices from ringing when a call comes in

How do I stop all of my devices from ringing when a call comes in

Use a different iCloud account on each device.
    Don't use iCloud at all.
    Disable Bluetooth.
Don't connect to the same wi-fi network on all the devices.
Go to Settings > FaceTime and turn it off.
Go to Settings > FaceTime on the devices and disable 'iPhone Cellular Calls'.
Any of these will work, but the last one is probably best.

  • HT4260 Can i control which wireless clients i like to betrol which wireless clients i like to be connected on my airport base station?

Can i control which wireless clients i like to betrol which wireless clients i like to be connected on my airport base station?

Yes. Use AirPort Utility's MAC Address Access Control.
AirPort Utility > select your base station > Edit button > Network tab > "Enable Access Control" > click the Timed Access Control button.
You need to specify the clients you want to control by their MAC address, which is usually printed on the device's exterior case.
