Hi,
Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall the IDT HD Audio Driver ( this will also reinstall the Beats Audio interface ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.

After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has fully reloaded, use Recovery Manager to reinstall HP Quick Launch Buttons. Again, when this has completed ,restart the notebook.

Beats audio settings

I have the beats audio installed on my machine and recently messed about with the beats audio settings but I forgot what the default settings are.
Is anyone able to provide me with them? I am not talking about the Graphic Equalizer which has the default button but the Beats Audio section.

Hi ManoMatt, sorry to hear that you are having issues with you Beats Audio. Unfortunately no driver is available at this time for the Beats Audio and Windows 8.1. HP DV6-6176SA Beats Audio Settings

Hello! First time posting on here. Iv recently just bought a HP DV6-6167SA laptop.
Currently playing around with the Beats software trying to find the right settings for it.
Has anyone got any suggestions as to the best settings for Beats? Iv realised the speakers on the laptop arent great but i think its great when you stick your headphones in, just need to find the right settings

With In-Ear headphones, I've found these settings to be almost perfect for every kind of music.

Beats audio internal mic?

My two week old dv6 7010us makes noises, randomly. TICK. Every now and then. I have done a check of the hard drive and found no problems. I have checked the sounds associated with various functions.... TICK is not one of the options. It just occurred to me to check the Beats Audio settings. There is something called Internal Mic that is checked. What is an internal mic and what are the ramifications if I uncheck it?

The internal mic is what Beats Audio uses for recording. Unless you won't be using the internal mic, leave it checked
or your will have to use a headset in Skype or other audio apps that need a microphone.
Have you checked to see if your Beats Audio control panel has a Acoustic Echo Cancellation setting?

Beats audio bass distorting sound

I recently bought an HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC (A3G61AV), and have noticed that the sound is awful. The bass is way too overpowered. When listening to a song with a bass drum, for example, the other frequency ranges become quieter while the bass is active. Then, they "fade" back in as the bass sound deteriorates. The volume never changes, though.
I've tried playing with the beats audio settings, the windows audio settings, and reinstalling the driver. Nothing seems to work.
Please help!

The author does not "solve" individual issues, but the thread is a very good resource for finding out how to use that Audio system and to solve many of the "make it better" issues that we all have when we first encounter this new audio chip.

H8-1287 Beats Audio controls do not work in Windows 8.1

I've upgraded to Windows 8.1 and installed the IDT High-Definition audio driver from HP's website. The surround sounds seems to be working but the controls do not work to modify the EQ etc. I've seen the problem has been resolved for Envy laptops but all the links for the software appear to only be for the notebooks and not compatible with my desktop system. I've downloaded the available software (IDT High-Definition Audio driver) found under my HPE HI-1287 product from HP's support site but the Beats audio control panel doesn't seem to make any sound quality changes. Hopefully there is a driver somewhere compatible with my desktop system that allows controling the audio properly. Thanks.

I understand that the Beats Audio Console is not adjusting the audio settings on your HP Pavilion HPE h8-1287c Desktop PC running Windows 8.1. According to the HP Pavilion HPE h8-1287c Desktop PC Drivers page there are no Windows 8.1 drivers for your computer. I can only assume that this means your computer is currently using Windows default drivers or Windows 8 drivers and the Beats Audio Console is not able to interact properly with the currently installed driver.
All I can recommend is that you check back periodically to the drivers page I linked above and see if Windows 8.1 drivers have been created. Other than that your only option at this time would be to use the HP Support document: Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8) to restore your computer back to Windows 8 where the Beats Audio Console has drivers that are compatible.

Beats Audio Control Panel software not working after Windows 10 upgrade. the Beats sound enhancement is useless in WIndows 10. When opening the Windows 10 sound properties I'm getting this box message: Auido enhancement problem Windows has detected the audio enhancement for the following device are causing problems: Speakers / Headphones (IDT High Definition Audio Codec) Woud you like to disable driver enhancement for this device? IDT High Definition Audio CodecBeats Audio Control Panel version6.10.6491.02013.11.2009:43:18 Please provide some kind of fix for this?

Well, it has been a long road on the Win 10 upgrade. At first I got the same error message as above, but after deleting the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 in Win 10 using Control Panel Programs and Features and rebooting, I got into the continual BSOD upon reboot. Here are the steps I took to at least get stable on Windows 10. First, I rolled back to Windows 8.1 using the advanced feature in the BSOD recovery options. Once back in Win 8.1, I deleted the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Then I downloaded the Win 10 update and re-installed it. Once that completed, I updated the Intel Graphics driver under the display adapters (on my G780 it is an Intel HD Graphics 4000, and the driver can be found at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/). Currently I am running version 10.18.10.4252 for my machine. Then, under the Device Manager, I updated the Conexant SmartAudio HD driver under the Sound, video, and game controllers. That driver is currently at 8.66.4.50 and was automatically downloaded from the web when I requested to update driver. I also changed several others settings such as Notify to schedule restart after updates are installed instead of automatic (under Settings --> Update & Security --> Advanced Options) and Do you want Windows to download driver software and realistic icons for your devices? --> No, let me choose what to do, never install driver software from Windows Update. After that, I shut down the machine, waited a moment and booted back up. I have no idea why this helped or if it is overkill, but I am stable and running without a fear of rebooting now. Hope this helps if someone else is having this same issue.

Its the uglyest layout I have seen, after using the IDT Audio Control Panell in my old HDX 18.
I miss the ability to change the backgrounds, the graphic EQ, the change of font and panell colour trim amung other things.

Hi, I to own a similar model spectre, 3210nr. I am having the exact same issue and was not able to be helped by tech support staff. Infact the staff I spoke to claimed it was hardware related.
I am unable to make any changes that are physically reflected to my beats audio control panel. Most importantly my volume dial is locked on clockwise operation despite my settings selection. I also cannot change my EQ or Recording experience settings.
The issue only started the other day when a technician was helping me with another random problem with my tocuhpad drivers.
I tried a system restore and reinstalling the idt drivers along with spending a few hours with tech support using a remote access session. I think they did a bios update which I think is a possible culprit.
I'd hate to send my laptop in for repair due to previous EXTREME negative experiences on multiple seperate occasions with HP. I really hope someone from HP see this message and is able to help resolve this issue. Or maybe someone in the community with a work around.

Lost Beats Audio Control Panel, Windows Experience Index and HP Power Manager on fresh install...

Please help! I installed a 240gb SanDisk Extreme SSD and a fresh install of Win 7 home premium 64-bit OEM. I did not reinstall the factory OS and all that goes along with it. I have managed to reinstall all drivers (it seems) but am having the following problems: 1) I have installed IDT HD Audio Driver sp56953 but it does not provide the Beats Audio control panel, any idea how to get it? 2) The Windows Experience Index will not provide a performance evaluation, something in the system is providing it with an error message when it attempts to rate the system and it stops. 3) I have installed HP Power Manager sp57398 and can bring up the control panel but the changes I indicate will not stay applied, when I bring up Power Manager again it show that no selections are made. I knew this fresh install was going to provide headaches, please help if you can. Thanks.

I suspect this may all be related to a common cause.
When updating the windows experience index, what is the error message you receive?
Has the video card driver been installed? It is necessary for the windows experience index to complete.
Also, ensure the HP Software Framework is installed. It is under the Software Solutions category.
You did a clean install of Windows 7. Has all the software and drivers for Windows 7 from HP been installed? Here is a link should you need it.

Microphone doesn't work- muted in beats audio control panel but does not un-mute

My computer doesn't think it has any audio devices installed. The speakers work, but in sounds it claims there are no audio devices installed. It says the same for the microphone but the microphone does not work or seem to be detected by any sound recording programs. Today I discovered in my beats audio panel that the mic is muted, but I cannot move the volume slider or click the mic to unmute it. I have tried updating the drivers and everything and checking my devices and nothing seems to work. I also used to have a stereo mix show up in my sounds settings but that has disappeared as well. It looks like this for recording and audio devices.

Beats audio volume very low despite all settings being set to their max

I've tried adjusting every setting availble in both windows and Beats control panels. This has always been a problem since I bought the compueter. I'm just tired of having to stick my ear next to the speakers to hear anything. Ear phone plug and ear phone volume control works fine. Both speakers are working, just with no power. HP Envy 14 Notebook Windows 7 Pro 64 bit I5 CPU

Press (fn and b) keys atonce to activate beats audio..
if not solved, uninstall your audio driver software,
restart your pc.
and reinstall them...

Beats audio presets eq settings

Can someone tell me the beats audio preset settings all of mine are set to zero for the beats tour and beats studio preset

Think its been a couple weeks since you posted. I have the same computer. I can not seem to get my music set right. Its either fine on rap/hip-hop with the bass, then rock comes on and there is to much bass. If i turn the bass down I can hear a fluctuation in sound. The vocals tend to lower on certian parts and just sounds aweful.
I have seenother presets but they dont work on the same hertz as mine.
Bass 70 to 100 depending ont he song
Treble 70
Center 80
Space 50
Focus 60
65Hz 4
125Hz 2
250Hz 6
500Hz 6
1kHz 6
3kHz 4
6kHz 2
9Khz 4
12Khz 6
I know the lower the hertz the more the bass. The less bass the more vocals. The 125Hz+is around midrange.
I really just need a working preset for either my sourround sound system 5.1 or my turtle beach x32 stereo headphones.
