That appears to be what happened.  I just mocked putting up a new idea and there was no search done before getting to type up my (non existant) idea.
But I was thinking about this while shaving this morning (I don't know why, random thoughts constantly bombard my mind).  It would be nice for the Version Conversion board to have a different format for creating a new request.  First of all, the button should be something like "New Conversion Request" instead of "New Message".  But then that button should take you to a new page that has 2 drop downs (for LabVIEW Version From and LabVIEW Version To) and a place for attaching code.  Put in notes that the file limit is 3 files and X MB and advise zipping up the code and posting the zip file.  MAKE THE ATTACHED FILE REQUIRED.  I guess there should probably be another field (optional) for general comments.  So then this new page can autogenerate a topic name based on the two drop downs.  We will get consistant topic names so we know exactly what needs done and it will be much easier for a new user of the board.

The Version Conversion board forces somebody to search for an exceptable solution before posting a new thread.  That board should not do that as it encourages people to add on to previously solved threads.  I didn't have to go through that in order to create this thread.

  • New Version Conversion Board

    Hello Forum users,
After recent feedback and conversations, we've decided it's time to dedicate a specific board for LabVIEW Version Conversion (replacing the existing Upconvert and Downconvert threads).
Please remember this is not a space for code discussion. This is just a space for you to post the VIs you need to be converted to an older or newer version of LabVIEW. If an issue arises where you need further assistance after the conversion has been completed (for instance, if you need the converted VI to be removed from the forums) please select "Report to a Moderator" and I will be happy help.
Enjoy the new, more organized Version Conversion board!

All we need is open and save it in any version 6.0 ... 8.2, after which it can be opened in any newer version.
(Instead of giving random misinformation, you might just want to consult the version compatibility matrix instead. LabVIEW 8.2 can open anything 4.x or above, so it is a good version to keep around )
I have LabVIEW 8.2 installed specifically for these conversions.  It was also the first version that was VISTA supported.  Works well with Windows 7.
For those who care, the conversion was done here:http://forums.ni.com/t5/Version-Conversion/error-code-10/m-p/2609857#U2609857

  • ANYBODY used the Currrency Conversion / Translation Rules Table yet???  Thx

    hi guys,
we are working on the BUSINESS RULE: CURRENCY CONVERSION TABLE.
here we have a easy three row table:
Account Rate Type: AVG; Formula: [AVG]
Account Rate Type: END; Formula: [END]
Line 3: Account Rate Type: TRANS: Destination Account: XYZ;  >> Formula:[END]-[AVG]
this works fine and great!!!!! differences within accounts of AVG and accounts of END between AVG to END rate are being posted in Account XYZ.
here the is the requirement we trying to establish:
for Line 3: using the AVG (of ACTUALS) and the AVG (of BUDGET) ... so different VERSIONS of the SAME ACCOUNT_1. We like to have the same differences (but differen versions) posted to XYZ account.
what calculation do i put in the Formula field in the chart???
anybody done this? got an idea? -
thanks a lot, max  (BPC 7.0 NW)

Thanks Ethans that was good explanation. So, we stayed within the version and the calculation worked fine. However, now I am wondering about the following:
We take the [END]-[AVG] and we get the wanted result. let's say 1.5 - 1.3 = 0.2 ... So desitnation account will post 0.2. - Correct!
Now if i run Currency Conversion / FX Trans again. it again takes 1.5 - 1.3 = 0.2 and it adds this 0.2 to the already noted 0.2 in the account = 0.4 in total. Run CC again an addiotional difference of 0.2 to the already there 0.4 which equals 0.6 total; and so on. It is adding on top what has been posted, not continiously just showing the difference in accounts.
How do i modify that it is NOT adding, but everytime ONLY finding the difference?
    Thanks a lot, Max
PS: Also I am wondering if anybody has detailed information on the Business Rule Table for Currency Conversion. - The BPC NW Help is rather light on the TABLE information.

  • Currency Conversion - update rules for average rate

I am working in BI 7.0
I have a currency conversion I have defined with RSCUR with the exchange rate type 'M' defined in SPRO -> General Settings -> Currencies -> Exchange Rate Types.  The currency conversion takes place in my update rules.  I've set my 'Time Reference' to 'End of Period'.
I want the conversion to be an average of all rates for the fiscal period.  If I check my table using 'OB08', I find my conversion is only using the rate for the last day of the Fiscal Period.  It is not averaging all the rates.
My question is this.  Can I actually average all the rates for the fiscal period using RSCUR?  Do I need to have the people on the R/3 side have the rates be averages?  Meaning, the rates they update are not currency rates for that specific day but a running average for the month?
What are the best practices for average rates for currency translations for update rules based on a Fiscal Period?
Edited by: Michael Pepper on Mar 3, 2008 8:37 AM

    Hi MIchel,
If you  want the conversion to be an average of all rates for the fiscal period.
    Check under the cloumn ExRt
you may find some row as description as "Average exchange rate"
Create  Currency Conversion type with that exrt type.
use this Currency Conversion type in u'r query for u'r keyfigure.
hope this will be helpfull...........for this you can contact Fi people.
    Regards,
    Vijay.

  • Currency conversion business rules

We have a new datasrc where we need one reporting currency never to be translated, but the other reporting currency to use SPRUNCONVERSION.
The datasrc is currently flagged with IS_CONVERTED as blank, which solves the first part of the problem, but is there a way to get the SPRUNCONVERSION to work for the other reporting currency.
All existing datasrc must work as the do currently.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Helen,
I'm not sure I understand your question. Can you provide some sample data?
If the IS_CONVERTED property for that DataSrc member is not set to Y then it will never convert the data into your reporting currencies when you execute the SPRUNCONVERSION stored procedure.
Also, you can specify what reporting currencies you want to convert your LC (3rd parameter) like below:
    *RUN_STORED_PROCEDURE=SPRUNCONVERSION([LEGALAPP], [ACTUAL], [USD], [GLOBAL] , [%SCOPETABLE%], [%LOGTABLE%] )
Also, multiple currencies can be separated by commas.(i.e. [USD,CAD]
You might need to split that data into a different DataSrc's or possibly use the MULTICURRENCY.LGL script logic library where you have more control as to what converts and what does not convert based on other dimension's.
    Thanks,
    John

  • How to convert Labview file 10.0 to 7.1

Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to convert my 10.0 vi file to a 7.1 vi file. Thank you very much.
By the way, it's from a student version if that matters at all.
    -Brian

You would need to have version 8 of LabVIEW along with version 2010 or 2011.  Open the 10.0 file in LV10 or later, saveas LV version 8.
Open the LV8 version in LV8 and the save for previous version as 7.1
If you don't have those versions, then that is what this message board is for.  Read Conversion Board Rules! and attach your VI to your message.

You have an ordinary question and need to ask it in the LabVIEW board.

  • Data conversion rule manager & repository

    Hi All,
We are running a fairly large legacy data conversion project from IMS and DB2 to Oracle which will involve quite a variety range of conversion/mapping rules (complex data manipulation to simple mapping). These requirement and rules involve both tech and business collaboration. Are there any data conversion rule managers tool out there that provide these type of capabilities:
    1. Data conversion rule repository and version control
    2. collaboration features (e.g. collaboration editing, commenting, decision capture, approval...etc)
We have check someed of the tools out there, and they are either generic requirement gathering tools, which is basically a few tabs with drop downs and a big text box, or some end-to-end data conversion automation solutions, which focus the execution of the data conversion instead of managing & tracking conversion rules.
Can anyone you help? please let me know if there is anything comes close that is practical and useful. Thank you.

Tubby, thank you for the info. Yes, we actually use ODI as a DEV tool for data conversion rule implementation and execution between our staging DB and target DB. However, ODI does not really have the capability to allow our tech and business to collaborate together and focus on "getting all these rules defined correctly". Having say that, ODI does have many very useful side features for our DEV to leverage and share information such as knowledge module and data mapping...etc
We would hope to have a practical data rule management tool & repository that allows tech and business to work together and gather all the rules and build up all the knowledge base in 1 single place. DEV/QA can then take away and focus on the implementation and validation.
Please let me know. Thank you very much.

  • Currency conversion rule not executing for manual journal entries.

    Hi,
We have currency conversion business rule set in our project. THis business rule is not converting LC to other currencies for manual journal posting entries. i.e, it is audit id with DATASRC_TYPE="M".
Can any one let me know if any specific settings are to be done for this to work?
    Regards,
    Swetha

    Hi,
Is the currency conversion working on the other datasources?
If yes, then try to post some record through input schedule in the M datasource, run the currency conversion, and see if the currency conversion is working fine or not.
