Conversion of 1440 X 1080 25mbps after Log Tranfer

Shot footage on Canon XF100 at 25mbps 1440 X 1080, 24p
Imported files into FCP 7 using Log and Transfer and Canon plug in.  This creates .mov files that are added to FCP browser.
When these .mov clips are viewed in FCP they are 16:9 but when the .mov files are viewed with QT player outside of FCP image is squezed as it is not 16:9 (heads are too narrow for example).
What is the best way to create the best quality QT files of this footage that my client can view as QT files outisde of FCP?
I tried exporting one of the clips as QT 1280X720 24p Apple Pro Res and that solves the aspect ratio problem in the resultant file.
Is that the best option?  Am I degrading the image by doing this?
Thanks in advance.

Open the file in QuickTime Player 7.
Press command and J to get the Properties window.
Click the Presentation tab.
Click the Conform Aperture checkbox
The setting will change to Clean and display your video correctly.

  • PE12 Letterboxing Youtube 1440 x 1080 PAL HD Upload

Hi, I have just upgraded to PE12 and am having difficulty getting my uploads how I want them. Source files are 1440 x 1080 PAL video and I uploaded to Youtube using the 1440 x 1080 PAL setting. These are being letterboxed which with PE10 they were not.
    http://youtu.be/zrOiTbgw7Yc
(I know the video quality in this case is hopeless but that doesn't matter, I want to find the right way to do it so I get full use of the Youtube player for visitors to my channel.)
    Cheers

    Thanks for the reply.
If you are telling me that the rendered 1440 x 1080 HD anamorphic 16:9 plays back in the OK (aspect ratio and otherwise) in the Edit area monitor but has display problems in what you are seeing at YouTube after the Timeline upload using Premiere Elements YouTube feature, then this is not a Premiere Elements issue. This is a YouTube player issue which is out of the realm of Premiere Elements.
Your source is 1440 x 1080 4:3 before its 16:9 flag is recognized by the YouTube player and the YouTube player responds to the 16:9 by stretching the 1440 x 1080 4:3 to 1920 x 1080 16:9. The problem that some players can have with recognition of the 16:9 flag is known. Based on your results using the YouTube 1920 x 1080 preset, this seems to be a viable explanation for the problem that you presented.
There are two additional ways that we might prove that to the both of us
    1. Export your Timeline content to a file saved to the computer hard drive as 1440 x 1080 HD anamorphic 16:9 and then upload that to YouTube at the YouTube web site. Did you have YouTube display issues?
(I will try this later today.)
    2. Is this a "it worked before but not now" or "it never worked before" issue for you?
If it worked before, how many times?
(I do not recall the last time I used the Premiere Elements YouTube feature to upload 1440 x 1080 HD anamorphic 16:9 Timeline. I will do that later today.)
    3. Just in case note....when you are looking at your 1440 x 1080 HD anamorphic 16:9 Timeline content in the Edit area monitor, the space there is one for the stretched version 1920 x 1080 16:9, not 1440 x 1080. The Edit area monitor is a player controlled by the project in contrast to the YouTube player and video conversion which is controlled by YouTube.
Then we can rejoin this thread to compare results.
    Thanks.

  • HD 1440 X 1080 in iDVD can?

Hello! I need help please; I have proyect, a clip (of 20 minutes) but it is
filmed and made in HD 1440 xs 1080. It is not in PAL
I want to view it in my TV (my TV is normally in PAL not blue ray) I have to pass the film HD 1440 X 1080 --> in iDVD and in iDVD can be in HD 1440 X 1080 or I have to pass in the format PAL 720 x 576?
    thousand thanks!

AIC will not work in FCP 4.5...nor will HDV. Period...end of sentence. That version is too old, those formats came out AFTER FCP 4.5 was made. The only option is to convert the footage into a format that FCP 4.5 works with, and the only options for FCP 4.5 are DVCPRO HD and uncompressed HD. DVCPRO HD is the better option. HOWEVER, 1080i DVCPRO isn't 1440x1080, it is 1280x1080...so you will be losing some lines of resolution.
Time to upgrade if you want to work with current formats.

  • Does iMovie'08 import 1920 x 1080 at 1440 x 1080

After some thought the subject (Sony HDR SR11 resolution) of my last post yesterday may include all HD camcorders with 1920 x 1080 resolution. when iMovie'08 imports the files they are saved as quicktime movies. When played in quicktime and the details looked at in Movie Inspector (quicktime/window/show movie inspector) the format is shown as Apple Intermediate Codec 1440 x 1080,
    Does iMovie'08 import 1920 x 1080 at 1440 x 1080 and then output it at 1920 x 1080 ?

    Hi(Bonjour)!
Look at this very interesting link about H.264 CODEC and web compression:
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/qt_h-264_moviesfcp.html
As WEB involves many compression and smaller frame sizes, the quality will be on par for both formats.
iDVD will accept HD sequences movies from FCE but it will convert them to standard definition as it cannot output (authoring and burning) high def blu-ray DVD.
Look at this link (altough you don't have ProRes codec with FCE package...) about HDV limitation for DVD usage:
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/hdv_timeline_to_sddvd.html

  • What is the best compression format for 1440 x 1080 24fps HDV?

I have a short film, around 13 minutes long, which I've recently completed. It was filmed in 1440 x 1080 24fps in HDV. What compressed video format would produce the highest quality "lossless" compression of the film? I'm planning on using the video file as my highest quality master copy –besides the FCP file itself. Thanks.

Your master should be exported as QT movie (not compression) keeping same settings and self-contained checked (No loss of quality is involved, the result is a perfect copy of each frame from your original media).
Any other conversion will involve compression then potential loss of quality.
That master will play fine on your machine but don't expect it to play on PCs.
However, you can send it to tape or take the exported self-contained file to a post house for DigiBeta or other transfer if you need screening copies of your video.
For the web H.264 is a great choice, amazing quality and fairly small file size with proper settings.

  • 1440 x 1080 Presentation

Help ...we are new to Final Cut Pro. We need to produce a Quicktime presentation in 1440 x 1080 (high resolution 4:3).
Everything we try to export comes out stretched horizontally, even though we have set everything we can find in Preferences to "1440 x 1080" ....What's up?
    Thanks for your help.
    Mac Dual 2.3 Ghz G5 Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Sorry ...had to take a break...
Sequence Preset = DV NTSC 48Khz
Capture Preset = DV NTSC 48Khz
Device Control Preset = Firewire NTSC Basic
    Video Playback = None
    Audio Playback = Default
    User Preferences:
    Render control:
    Filters (checked)
    Frame blending for speed (checked)
    Motion blur (unchecked)
The "footage" was given to us in a Photoshop layered file, 3000 x 2000 (4:3 aspect ratio). We have reduced the file size to 1440 x 1080 (same aspect ratio).
When output to a Quicktime movie from FCP ...using EITHER "Export to Quicktime" OR "Quicktime conversion..." the resulting Quicktime movie is of poor quality. As I mentioned earlier ...when exporting directly from Motion, the quality is maintained.
I don't know if this information helps ...but we truly appreciate your assistance.

  • Blank screen with cursor after logging in

After upgrading to Windows 8.1 from windows 8 (which took much much longer than a clean installation),on being prompted to log in, all I see is a blank screen (the cursor works though) after logging in. Upon doing a lot of googling, I am utterly confused
about the issue and its possible solutions. Can you give me a definite solution to this? The task manager opens via alt+ctrl+del, explorer.exe is not running and that sums up everything I can do with my swanky new Windows 8.1. The following are my
    laptop specs
    Dell Inspiron 17R 7720 SE
    Intel i5
    nVIDIA GT 650m 2 gigs
Its getting really frustrating, and I am thinking of reverting to 7 once again.

    Hi
Please create dump files for better understanding what exactly happen here. Also check your event viewer.
Maybe some 3rd party application caused this issue, I suggest perform clean boot as well to eliminate 3rd party SW issue

One thing that you can try is installing a 'fresh' version of OS X Lion. Boot into your Recovery partition (holding down the command and R keys whilst booting) and elect to install OS X from the Recovery screen. You need not erase your hard drive and you should not lose any of your data.
Oh, and just as a precaution, I would use Disk Utility, once you're in Recovery mode, to verify your hard drive before trying to install the OS again.

I am having trouble viewing iStore. It appears as if its a Flash issue, as several minutes after logging in to iStore I get a non-flash page of iStore in my iTunes window. I have re-installed everything and tried opening all ports in router, and used msconfig to bring up each service individually to see if there is an effect.Flash and iTunes have been re-installed  ...any ideas?

I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/

    1. Make sure that the "ACTION" sttribute in the FORM is pointing to the right URL.
    2. Make sure that the SUBMIT button is inside the FORM tags, then make sure that the SUBMIT button is in the same FORM as the Text Fields .

  • How do I stop OSX Lion from reopen windows after logging in?

Please advise.  This is aggrevating me.  Everytime I shut down my computer, I have to uncheck the box that states, Reopen windows after logging in.  I don't want to do this everytime I shut my computer down.  If I don't completely log out of every single application, when I start my computer and log-in, the programs I was using before I shut-down all come back up and sometimes this freezes my computer and I have to force shut down.  Any suggestions would be great.  Thank you.

It is one of the over 250 new features of the World's Most Advanced Operating System called Resume.
When choosing Restart, Sleep or Shutdown there is a checkbox you can uncheck to prevent the apps from launching.
Also in System Preferences > General there is a hard-to-find checkbox under "Number of recent items" you can turn off.
If you want to turn it off on a per app basis, (TextEdit is by example, replace TextEdit with the name of the app)
Launch Terminal and copy/paste this at the prompt...
defaults write com.apple.TextEdit NSQuitAlwaysKeepsWindows -bool false
    Press return.
    To turn off Resume globally...
    chflags uchg ~/Library/"Saved Application State"
    Press return
The reverse of the first one is to replace false with true.
The reverse of the second one is
    chflags nouchg ~/Library/"Saved Application State"

If you have a credit card on file on top of your gift card then it is asking you to confirm the security code for the card, which for a Visa or MasterCard is 3 digits located on the back, or AMEX has 4 digits on the front.  This happens just to ensure that you are the account holder, and would happen from time to time whether it was a free or paid app, even if you have a credit through your gift card.  This doesn't mean that your credit card will be charged.
