Conversion of ACVHD video to .mov file

How do I convert video ACVHD video to a .mov file so that I can make it compatible to use on a MAC?  I have a P.C. at home, where I edit on
Premier Elements, but the studio uses MACS.  I know a .mov file is compatible with a MAC.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

What version of Premiere Elements is involved here?
Am I correct that you are talking about use of a file exported and saved to hard drive in Windows? We are not talking about using a project.prel created in Premiere Elements Windows and trying to open that in Premiere Elemens Mac? That is a not go.
AVCHD is a video compression type often designated MPEG4 AVC/H.264. What is the file extension (wrapper for AVCHD), .mp4, .mts, other?
Without more information about what you have, I am not sure that you need to convert what you have to anything else for import into Mac. What are the properties of what you have:
Frame Size: 1920 x 1080 or other
Frame Rate: 25 or 29.97/30 interlaced or progressive frames per second
Scan Type: Interlaced or Progressive
Pixel Aspect Ratio = Square Pixels (1.0) or other
File Extension: .mp4 or other
Based on that information and provided that you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on Windows and Mac...
AVCHD.mov
Publish+Share
Computer
QuickTime
and set Presets = NTSC DV 16:9 with customization to the required properties under the Advanced Button/Video Tab (video codec = H.264) and Audio Tab (audio codec = AAC or other).
If you have AVCHD.mp4, give that a try as is in your Premiere Elements Mac.
But more information is needed to fine tune.
Thanks.

  • Can ATV play multi layered video track .mov files?

    Hi all,
Front Row 2 cannot play multi layered video track .mov files for now,
so I wonder if an ATV take 2 can play .mov files with 2 or more video track?

    HeyJP wrote:
yeah, so far, it looks like it has to be pretty vanilla. Only a single h.264 track and an audio track.
The new 5.1 rentals supposedly have 2 audio tracks - stereo for devices that can't handle 5.1 via HDMI and presmably to give stereo audio out via the RCA sockets, and the 5.1 passthrough.
It may be that with time more fucntionality will be added to movie playback, but I'm not holding my breath.

  • What export options in Quicktime Pro or Final Cut Pro should I select to export  HDV video in .MOV files to highest quality Windows-compatible files?

I have some HDV video files imported through iMovie to .MOV files with Apple Intermediate Codec.
I need to convert these to Windows compatible video files of the highest possible ( least loss) quality.  What export options in Final Cut Pro or in Quicktime Pro should I select?  The codex in the converted files must not be Apple Intermediate Codec, for which there is no Windows version.

Okay, I read the whole Flip4Mac website.
Flip4Mac is an application for Apple computers.
Perhaps my question was unclear.  When I posed it I was thinking of asking somebody with an Apple shop to do the conversion for me, and wanted advice on settings for his QUicktime Pro /Final Cut Pro that would produce the highest quality Windows -compatible files.
The Windows version of Quicktime will not play Quicktime files with Apple Intermediate Codec.  You get black screen video, although the audio does come through.
So here's what I need:  I need a Windows application that will transcode Quicktime files in Apple Intermediate Codec, with no loss or very little loss, to WIndows-compatible files.   All Windows, all the time.  Thank you.

  • Quicktime video for .mov files on Windows 8.1 not working

I am using the latest Quicktime (v7.7.5) on a new install of Windows 8.1 and .mov files will play but only the audio works - there is no video.  Clearly There is a video codec missing.  Can someone at apple tell me what I need so quicktime (and other applications) can play .mov videos on Windows 8.1?
    Thank you!!!

Hey Kirk,  thank you for your reply. All my windows media players (Windows, Quicktime, Pinnacle Sudio, etc..all  only play the audio and not the video.  The quicktime player on Windows recogizes a problem and suggests that I goto this website (www.apple.com/quicktime/rescources/components......) and download missing somftware (but gives no indication of what is missing :-)).
So the Windows Quicktime Player shows that the .mov file is made with the Apple Intermediate Codec, 1308 x 736, Millions 16 bit Integer (little Indidan), Sterdo(LR), 48kHz.   I also looked at the inspector in the Mac.
This is clearly the issue. I suppose I can always use my Mac to convert files to something more compatible with windows and then move these files.  I just find it hard to believe that Apple does not have a windows 8.x version of this codec.

  • Audio but no video on .mov files

I'm trying to watch a tutorial disc (working with Ableton Live). The video files are .mov, the disc comes with the install for Quicktime 7.03. I have Quicktime Pro 7.12. When I try to play the video files, I get audio but no video.
When I try to play the files in VLC Player, I get video but an audio error (and no audio)...
Anyone familiar with this issue (I've searched the forums and found similar issues, but nothing the same as this...)?

Nothing about Sorenson 3 (video track) AAC (audio) or Apple BMP (image format layer) that would keep the file from playing on your machine.
Do you open these .mov files directly from the CD (double click) or is there some app that is used from the CD to play them?
Try a double click and test the files while logged in under a different user account.

  • Audio fine, no video for .mov files

I am trying to view films on disk that a friend has lent me. MPG4 files play just fine, but the .mov files do not play the video, only the audio. A Quicktime message showed up that told me I would need other components, and directed me to the DIVX site. I downloaded their codec, etc, but to no avail. I have also tried the Troubleshooting tips, which include disabling the Direct3D acceleration, etc, but again to no avail. Would getting the correct codec correct this problem? Any advice would be much appreciated.

  • QT "Player", audio but no video of mov files

So I got this Macbook Pro(10.7.2 Lion) for Christmas and the version of Quicktime that is on it (Version 10.1 (501.5)) will not play some of my old QT mov files. These are files that were made with iMovie on my Macbook.
These files will play on my Macbook (10.5.8) with QT version (7.5.5)
When I try and open the files with the new QT Player in Lion ... I just get audio and no video. The movie inspector shows only audio info and no video info.
Is this a known problem ? Is there a fix?
If not, can I download and run QT 7.5.5 in Lion?
    Thanks.
    Gary

    Thanks!
I actually have a version of VLC somewhere in my collection of apps. Probably not the latest version.
I am just beginning the process of finding out what things didn't make the "migration" from my Macbook_10.5
I am noticing the simularity between the words "migration" and "migraine".
    I will check out http://www.macupdate.com/
perhaps they will have a check list of things that are no longer compatible with Lion and possible solutions.

  • JMF does not play sound for .avi file and no video for .mov file

    Hi,
I am trying to use JMStudio to transmit media files from one computer to another.
However, when I try to transmit .mov file it only plays audio no video is displayed on other computer.
And when I transmit .avi file I can see the Video on other machine but it does not
    play any sound.
I tried using capture devices like - webcam and mic and they work perfectly fine.
Can anyone please tell me the solution for this.
    Thank you in advance.

I discovered the same problem too..
I think it is a general Format problem.
When i analyzed the tracks in my .avi and .mov files before rtp streaming with jmf, I found each media containing just 1 track..
This track was a video track, no audio at all.
Other formats I tried, like .mpg, revealed both audio and video tracks, and performed perfectly.
I'm still on more research.. will get the solution to you if u don't find one before I'm done..

  • Audio not in synch with video when mov files played in QT 7.6

When I play .mov files stored in an iPhoto 08 photo library, the audio is not in synch with the video. People's lips move and the audio comes out a second or so later. This is a relatively new problem, and I don't have the same problem when I play .avi files. A couple weeks ago, the audio and video were good and they were synchronized. The video in the .mov files is also choppy. The video plays for a few seconds, briefly pauses, and then starts again.
    Appreciate any suggestions.

I'm not sure this is the issue. The video files were never in iMovie. Only imported into the iPhoto libaray from my Kodak M1033 camera. A few weeks ago, I did not have an issue with .mov files playing smoothly. Perhaps there was a recent update to QT?
When I upload the .mov clips to Flickr (www.flickr.com) or YouTube, they play just fine, so I'm not sure what the issue is.

  • Audio but no video for .mov file.

For Windows XP (Home Edition 5.1.26700 Service Pack 3 Build 2600):
My QuickTime Player 7.6.6 shows a window but the window is empty only the audio is present.
The same or similar is the case in VLC, RealPlayer, and DivX Player.
Additional information from my Mac OS X:
    - The .mov file plays perfectly on my iMac in my QuickTime Player 10.0(114).
    - Cmd-I reports for the .mov file: codecs: H264,AAC.
    - The file is produced by AddMovie version 1.8.6 from a .flv file and the developer states:
’AddMovie uses Mac OS technology "out of the box" so to speak. In other words all it does is call system functions that in turn call the codecs installed on your system to do their job. I don't write any codecs (i.e. compressor/decompressors - i.e. exporters/importers) - other third party developers do that. So, getting the output of AddMovie to be compliant for other software depends on your choice of these third party add-ons, and the selection of them in the preferences window.‘
    - Perian 1.2.1 and Flip4Mac 2.3.4.1 are installed.
    - VLC version 1.1.2 is installed and it plays the .mov file with audio but no video like QuickTime Player in Windows.

    Thanks again, QuickTimeKirk.
I think the audio rate was to blame. I changed the audio format in QuickTime Player 7 Pro from (I think) Linear PCM to AAC and the kbps number from the default value 128 to 64. Then I changed the mark for the video rate from automatic to the option of setting a limit and set a suitable limit. That way I was able to control the total kbit/second rate for the exported .mov file so that it got a reasonable size.
When I compare the source .flv file with the produced .mov file for the case when they have about the same total kbit/second rate, I can see that the .mov file is smoother or has less detail than the .flv file although the difference is not big. Increasing the video rate limit in QuickTime Player 7 Pro causes a bigger .mov file with better quality to be produced.

  • Opening video and movie files

When I try to open movie or video files text edit opens instead of a media player. I've looked at QuickTime info and it is supposed to support these kind of files. What am I doing wrong or not doing right?

File types are determined by the file extension (characters in the name that appear after the final dot or period, as in .mov) and by file metadata (informations that is either stored in the file or a desktop database). You can change your preference on which files should be opened by which applications with the following steps:
1.) From the Finder, select any example of the file type in question.
2.) Press command-I (or the menu item File -> Get Info).
3.) Mid-way down the Get Info panel look for the "Open With..." pop-up menu.
4.) From that menu select the application you want to use to open the file type selected in step 1.
5.) Select the Change All... button
    6.) Confirm your selection.
That should do it. One warning, however, just make certain that the application you choose can really open the file type you selected in step 1. Otherwise, you may have problems when trying to open the document.

  • Video or Movie files added to iTunes are copied to ATV

Whenever I drag and drop files into my iTunes Library it always automatically copies to my Apple TV too. I haven't been able to figure out why its doing that and how I can stop it. I don't want everything meant to be on my iPod to be on my ATV. I only notice this with movies or other videos I bring into iTunes. I have control over my music via playlists. Here's another example. I have a BluRay DVD with the Digital copy disc. I set it up so I can watch the movie on my iPod and a few minutes later I see the movie being copied over to my ATV! I have SYNC movies checked in the ATV menu. Should I uncheck that box and if so will that allow me to manually sync what I want on my ATV?

If it's AppleTV1 then change to Custom sync, then manually select the movies to sync.

  • Converting mov files to animated gifs

Basic question: how-to convert MOV files to animated GIF files. I have been searching for free/opensource/shareware to do this but so far no program I found could do this.
I'd love someone to answer, definitively, about free/opensource/shareware, but my hopes are down.
So, I ask what MAC program (even if I have to buy it) will let me convert MOV files to animated GIFs or MOV frames to seperate images (is that at all possible?).
Secondly, does anyone have experience with software that does this?
    Thanks in advance.

Quicktime Pro 7 can take video (ie mov files) and export them as image sequences.
It can be purchased at the Apple store for $30.

  • How can I get iPhoto 9.5.1 (902.17) to import .mov files?

I have a brand new MacBook Pro with 2 TB SDD running Mavericks that I bought 2 weeks ago.
So far I have imported about 5,000 photo files into iPhoto 9.5.1 (902.17) plus about 25 videos as .mov files.
But on today's import session, it stopped taking any more MOV's, giving the following error message:
"The following file could not be imported. The file is in an unrecognized format." and it then it lists the .mov files.
I tried rebuilding the LIbrary index, and have even tried creating a new Library and importing my smalles (12 Mb) .mov file to this new test library.
But I keep getting the same error.
I have the most recent version of all the software (i.e. no new updates are available.)
    What else can I do?

I figured out a solution: The drive with the .mov files was a USB drive formatted as NTFS. iPhoto would import .JPG files from this OK, but would refuse to import .MOV files, giving the error noted above.
I found that if I copied the files from the NTFS USB drive to an SD card or to the Macbook Pro's internal SDD, I could get iPhoto to import the .MOV files without any problem.
Why does iPhoto 11 have a problem importing .MOV files from external USB drive formatted as NTFS, but no problem importing the exact same files from an SD-card formatted as FAT-16, or from a folder on the Macbook Pro's internal HD?
