Conversion of dec to octal

Is there any Oracle function to convert between different number format as:
decimal to octal
decimal to hex
regards
Johan

There is a PL/SQL-Function at http://www.oracle.com/oramag/code/tips1999/index.html "Converting Numbers to Hexadecimals"
It`s easy to make a version of it which converts decimal to octal.

  • Conversion from DEC forms on VAX to Forms5/6i

    Hi ,
    The requirement is to migrate around 140 DEC forms on VAX platform to Oracle Forms. Is there any tool which does the same. If so we have to consider the feasibility of tool based approach compared to manual development of the forms.
    Even after conversion, the application will be running on character mode screens only. Some more people who have been working on this found a way to parse the IFDL files (the programs for DEC forms) to get details in ASCII format. This can give some information regarding the fields on forms, validations, etc. But this has to be in a format acceptable for Oracle Forms. Maybe, the feature of converting from text to binary (FMT to FMB) in Oracle forms can be used to generate the forms based on the details got from DEC forms. For this we need to understand thoroughly the format for FMT acceptable for character based forms. Based on this the feasibility to convert the IFDL details to FMT using a tool can be analyzed.
    If anyone is having some idea to solve my problem then it would be a great help to me.

    The documents can be found on Oracle Technology Network -> Documentation -> Developer Suite -> Forms Developer.

    Hope that helps.

  • [solved] No sound, ALSA finds soundcard, pulseaudio does not.

    Problem:
    pulseaudio can't find my soundcard (or it can't find ALSA, not sure). It falls back to a dummy-output and no input so i can't play sounds or use my mic.
    First appeared when:
    Installing software updates like a month ago. I ignored it at first in the hopes it will resolve itself with the next update an few dates later. It didn't so far. None of the packets I updated had linux|pulse|alsa|sound|audio in its name. So i guess it just triggered the problem in a indirect way.
    What did not help:
    Reinstalling packets with pulse|alsa|sound|audio in its name.
    Deleting ${HOME}/.pulse* .
    Rebooting.
    Resetting /etc/pulse/* or /etc/asound.conf to the defaults of the packaes they come with.
    Adding or removing my user to the audio group.
    Googling. Other threads i this forum.
    Additional infos:
    (Stuff that was requested from others which had similar problems. No other [solved]-threads were helping me so far.)
    /dev/dsp does not exist.
    fuser -v /dev/snd/* returns nothing
    aplay whatever.wav produces no sound.
    aplay -D sysdefault whatever.wav works.
    Using Gnome 3 started with gdm.

  • Problem with decimal fields using BADI For PD Infotypes

    Hi,
    I'm implementing BADI  HRBAS00INFTY.
    For reading the fields of infotype , I'm using the substring
    of the field NEW_INNNN-VDATA .
    I have a problem with fields of type DEC.
    In field NEW_INNNN-VDATA it looks like this :  '####'
    I believe that the possible reason for this is conversion from DEC to CHAR
    But I don't know how to fix it.
    Thank you .
    Message was edited by: Alon Lozinsky

    Hi Alon,
    We had same issue. Use following code.
    data: hri1011_str type hri1011.
    move new_innnn-vdata to hri1011_str.
    HRI1011_STR fields will have decimal values.
    Let me know if you still have any issues. If solution works, kindly do Point Recognition.

  • The lilo vga variable

    one thing i wanted to know in detail ... and i think i'm not the only one who dont know the details about that (also when reading the howtos in other distros)
    ... it can be a chapter in the linux-howtos for newbies in archlinux ... for the collection Gyroplast started on his page (great job, great idea, Kompliment)
    what i'm asking: for lilo (or grub): what video-modes exist? what i know from the /Documentation/fb/vesafb.txt
    | 640x480 800x600 1024x768 1280x1024
    ----+-------------------------------------
    256 | 0x301 0x303 0x305 0x307
    32k | 0x310 0x313 0x316 0x319
    64k | 0x311 0x314 0x317 0x31A
    16M | 0x312 0x315 0x318 0x31B
    they are in hex, but of course you should say lilo the mode in a decimal number e.g. vga=798
    that's what i know ... any additions?
    -> is there a way to find out the modes a card (chipset) support?

    you could take this time to lean how to convert amongst binary, octal, hexadecimal, and base ten  decmal:
    BIN OCT HEX B10 BIN HEX B10
    0000 0 0 0 1000 8 8
    0001 1 1 1 1001 9 9
    0010 2 2 2 1010 A 10
    0011 3 3 3 1011 B 11
    0100 4 4 4 1100 C 12
    0101 5 5 5 1101 D 13
    0110 6 6 6 1110 E 14
    0111 7 7 7 1111 F 15
    Hex and binary work just like base 10 except with base 16 and base 2
    i.e. for each digit to the left of the decimal, its that digit multiplied by the base raised to thepower of the distanc from the decimal
    Take these numbers for example:
    Base 10:
    5293 = 5 * 10^3 + 2 * 10^2 + 9 * 10^1 + 3 * 10^0 = 5293 ##remember, anything to the 0th powor is 1
    Base 8 (octal):
    12255 = 1 * 8^4 + 2 * 8^3 + 2 * 8^2 + 5 * 8^1 + 5 * 8^0 = 5293
    Base 16 (hexadecimal):
    14AD = 1 * 16^3 + 4 * 16^2 + 10 * 16^1 + 13 * 16 ^ 0 = 5293
    Base 2 (binary):
    Now the neat thing about converting to binary is if you have something in octal or fex, just use your handy conversion table. ::NOTE:: Octal digits only have 3 bits (drop the insignificant... i.e. leftmost bit off the chart above)
    5293 = 14AD = 12255 = 1010010101101
    Also... note that the permissions of a file are displayed in one of two ways
    1)
    As a bitstring (like when you ls -l)
    rwxrwxrwx rw-rw-r--
    Or as octal... pair those permissions in groups of three and you have a 3 digit octal number
    777 664
    I hope i did not insult your intelligence by posting this, but i figured it wouldnt hurt either
    ::EDIT:: sorry i think i misunderstood your original post... please don't take offence to this ::/EDIT::

    Hi DirTech,
    Are both of these dates in the same Excel file? If they're in different files, are you choosing the same language for OCR (optical character recognition)?
    If they are in the same PDF file, how was that PDF file created? Was it created from a third-party application (rather than an Adobe application)? If it was created by a third-party application, it could be that it wasn't written to spec, and that's why you're seeing some oddities in the PDF > Excel conversion.  (See Will Adobe ExportPDF convert both text and form... | Adobe Community.)

  • DEC to STRING conversion

    I can't seem to convert a DEC to a string.  This is a field defined in the dictionary by type TZNTSTMPS (DEC 15).  I tried the following to do the conversions:
    d_string = d_dec.
    write d_dec to d_string.
    CALL FUNCTION 'HRCM_AMOUNT_TO_STRING_CONVERT'
      EXPORTING
        betrg                         = d_dec
    *   WAERS                         = ' '
    *   NEW_DECIMAL_SEPARATOR         =
    *   NEW_THOUSANDS_SEPARATOR       =
    IMPORTING
       STRING                        = d_string.
    They all give me the same result which is an 8 character result with * being the first charcter.  Ultimately, what I need is to grab the first 8 characters as that is a date.
    Regards,
    Aaron

    Thanks for the idea.  ABI_TIMESTAMP_CONVERT_FROM works.
    Sorry, I thought it did.  It throws a run-time error telling me:
    Error analysis
        At the statment
             "WRITE src TO dest"
        only character-type data objects are supported at the argument position
        "dest", but no strings are supported (data types STRING and XSTRING).
        In this particular case, the operand "dest" has the
        type "g".
    It sounds like it doesn't like the DEC data type as an input but that is all I have to work with.
    Any ideas?

    The module has several different functions to convert hexadecimal numbers to decimal and vice versa. I am not sure if I needed to break out each module function into a seperate function in SQL or not. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Octal conversion

    Hi my group is a green thumb computer programmers and we are trying to convert decimal numbers into octal. so far, this is what we have for conversion
    if(menusel == 1)
    System.out.println("Please enter a decimal number: ");
    number = StdIn.readString();
    for(int i = number.length()-1; i >= 0; i--)
    System.out.println(number.charAt(i));
    c = (number.charAt(i)) * (Math.pow(10,number.length() - i));
    System.out.println(c);
    it doesn't work and we can't figure out why.

    I take it you're aware of Integer.parseInteger and Integer.toOctalString and this is an exercise. Fair enough.
    Firstly each character needs to be converted to a digit value. There's actually a method in Character for this, or, since the digit characters in Unicode are consecutive, you can convert the unicode to an int and subtract the Unicode value for '0'.
    In converting from characters to a number you are essentially evaluating a polynomial. Use Horner's rule rather than Math.pow, it's much neater in a loop.
    Converting the other direction is more easily done backwards i.e starting with the last digit. Use the divide and the remainder operators.

  • Conversion of DATS to DEC in transfer rule

    Dear all,
    I have a requirement to Activate mapping field in Infosource - transfer rule.
    I have to map ZDATE (datatype - DEC) with ZOLDDATE (Datatype - DATS).
    I know it can be directly mapped so DATS field will be automatically converted to DEC like below.
    12.07.2010 will be converted to 20.100.712.xxx.xxx
    But after mapping it, the dataload time has been increased  from 1 hr to 5 hrs.
    Do anyone has faced this issue ? how to bringdown the dataload time.
    I also wrote a simple routine....but again the dataload timin is affected.
    data : l_date type sy-datum,
             tmp TYPE AD_TSTAMP.
    l_date  = TRAN_STRUCTURE-ABRDT.
    CALL FUNCTION 'ADDR_CONVERT_DATE_TO_TIMESTAMP'
      EXPORTING
        IV_DATE            = l_date
      IV_HIGH            = ' '
    IMPORTING
       EV_TIMESTAMP       = tmp.
    RESULT = tmp.
    Pls give a solution for this problem.

    As I was reading all the answers about converting Hex to Dec,I found out that many of you are making it so complicated.To make it easier for a learner or beginner,this is what it takes:
    Open a blank VI
    Click on numeric control
    Right click on the same numeric control
    Scroll down to "Representation"
    Click on "U8"
    Go to numeric indicator and repeat step 4 and 5
    Then right click again on numeric control
    Scroll down to "Properties" and click
    Click on "Data entry",if necessary,change the minimum and maximum
    Pass to "Display format"
    Click on "Hexadecimal" then you are done.The rest is to go on the block diagram to wire the numeric control to the numeric indicator and it works.
    You can do the same process reverse for dec to hex.But you must know that what we did for "numeric control" on (Hex to Dec) will be done to "numeric indicator" on (Dec to Hex).This same process can apply to octal and binary without the use of complicated array,string while loop and so on...
    I'm a beginner in Labview and I understand that you need to explain more to understand better.
    If you really read all of the comments, you would see that Altenbach already stated this (saying it is just a cosmetic property for the indicator).
