Conversion of downloaded lens profiles

Hi,
I have a Canon EOS 500D with an ef-s18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 is lens.
I found a lens profile for a Canon EOS 7D in the Lens Profile Downloader.
Can I use/convert this profile for my Camera?
Is there a way to use this profile, which is created for RAW images, for JPEG images?
thanks!
Peter

The transformations specified in a lens-profile file are resolution independent and it is generally ok to apply a lens profile for a specific lens on one camera to the same model lens on another camera as long as you're not using a crop-sensor-camera profile with a full-sensor-camera image.

  • Why don't additional downloaded lens profiles show up in LR5?

Hi everyone! My name is Kai and this is my first post here. Normaly I find an answer to all my questions by reading already existing discussions. But this time I wasn't lucky...
Hopefully this is not a stupid question.
I downloaded lens profiles for the Rokinon 7.5 fisheye and created a folder named "Rokinon" in "Rsources", "LensProfiles", "1.0" (MAC OS) to put them in, but they don't show up in LR5 and I can't use them. What's wrong?
    Thanks, Kai.

The correct location to place downloaded Lens profiles on a Mac is:

In the list, on web-page I can find this lenses (Samsung 16-50 mm F3.5-3.6 Power Zoom ED OIS), but I can't download it, because Adobe Lens Profile Downloader doesn't see this lenses.
Now in my Lightroom 5.7 I have only (for RAW images):

    In conclusion:
    - JPG images are corrected in camera
    - SRW images have built profile
    - the information in the list https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/lens-profile-support-lightroom-4.html
is little misleading because suggests there is a profile for Samsung 16-50 lenses
I tried to make a 3 profiles in a Adobe Lens Profile Creator 1.0.4 for 16mm, 26mm and 50mm (but it was very amateur work, so I don't guarantee the quality)

  • Trouble trying to use Adobe Lens Profile Downloader

    Hi
Ive got a legal copy of Lightroom, downloaded & installed Air, downloaded and installed Adobe Lens Profile Downloader, got 2 Adobe accounts but cannot get either account to log in using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader, so I cannot even start to download lens profiles.
    Any suggestions please?
Is there a place or way to download the profiles without using Adobe Lens Profile Downloader?
PS if I go to photoshop.com as indicated in Adobe Lens Profile Downloader, neither account logs me in even though Ive reset both passwords from photoshop.com, but both log me in on adobe.com, hence me being able to post here!

I am going to create some profiles since the profiles are not available for my camera. Once they are created on your computer you can upload them to the Adobe library using the downloader to share with the rest of the community. In other words the downloader will provide a means for you to manage your profiles on your computer those that you have and those that you don't have and those that you want to delete or replace. Note that there is a delete and submit button. I do not have any created yet to upload/submit but I would suspect that when you wanto to submit a profile you will be required to login. I tried this to submit a rating and comments and got the same message about not being able to login.

  • Lens profiles not available in Lightroom CC

I have downloaded and installed lens profiles but they do not show in Lightroom CC as choices in the drop down menu? They were there for Lightroom 4 but not since I purchased and installed Lightroom 5 via the Creative Cloud?

I have downloaded lens profiles in an analogous folder on my computer and they work ok, so you're putting them in the right place, assuming you're logged in as user Michael.
The other thing is are the photos you're opening RAW or non-RAW, and is the lens-profile you're hoping to use for RAW or non-RAW, and is it for the same camera manufacturer (Canon, Nikon, etc) as your photos?

  • Missing lens profile in LR 5.2 RC

I've been waiting for an update that includes a lens profile for the AF_S Nikkor 18-35mm 1:3.5-4.5 G W/A lens. I thought it would be in RC 5.2 or Camera RAW 8.2 RC. But, no. Closest I can now come is the more expensive 16-35mm W/A. I'm using this on the D600.

It doesn't appear that either of the two profiles you listed are specifically for the newer Nikkor 18-35mm 'G' lens. You can use the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader to install the available 1.0 crop factor profiles. One is listed as a 'D' lens, which is clearly not what you want. The other two don't specify which  lens was used. Try the two below and see if the Vignetting and Distortion corrections appear correct with one of them. Since this lens was introduced a little over six months ago my guess is that none of the Adobe or Download lens profiles are for the 'G' lens, which is substantially improved over the 'D' lens. You may be able to use them by reducing the "default" Distortion and Vignetteing settings from 100. You'll need to check the results over the zoom range for distortion and aperature range for vignetting. Keep in mind that full 100% correction of vignetting and distortion is usually not desireable with a super wideangle zoom, which can make the image look "unnatural."

  • Lens profiles for different bodies, but same sensor size?

I downloaded LR 4.1 RC today.  Some of my lenses are not profiled in LR so I then downloaded Lens Profile Downloader Preview 3 to see if there are any profiles available for download.  For some lenses I found profiles, but they were not done on the same body that I have (same sensor size though).   Can I use profiles for lenses if they are for a camera body that is different than mine, but still the same sensor size?  My understanding is that wiht a lens profile LR will automatically correct distortion, vignetting, and CA.  Will that work if my body is different than the body used to profile the lens?  Thank you.

    You can find this statement:
Regarding lens vs camera+lens combinations. Generally, Adobe only supplies 1 profile per lens. Differences between cameras (e.g., crop factors) are automatically taken into account when applying the profile

  • Lens Profile Downloader Feedback

I'm curious to know what people think about Adobe's Lens Profile Downloader. Are people using it? What do you think of it? Are people even aware of it?
I think it has great potential. Adobe's been trying to play catch-up after releasing the Profiler (profiles are time-consuming to make, and there was no clear or easy way to request profiles from Adobe or the larger community).
However, it definitely feels a little half-baked. The need for selecting a profile based on the camera model is was built with is slim (if I am a D300 owner, I am equally interested in profiles created with the D90 or D300s, as well as the D7000 and so on). More importantly, there's no field for LENS MAKE. Hello? This means that if Nikon/Canon/Sony, Sigma, Tokina, and Tamron all decide to make a 12-24mm f/4 lens, there's no easy way to figure out which one the listed profile is actually for. More oddities: Apple listed under Camera Make? And a random half of the brands' names in full uppercase?
Here's the info we need when selecting a lens profile for RAW conversion:
    Camera Make
    Lens Make
    Lens Model
    Crop Factor
RAW or JPEG (do people use lens profiles for JPEG correction?)
Camera Model (only necessary for JPEGs or if crop factor is unknown)
    Profile Creator
    Profile Creation Date
    User Rating & Comments
    Cheers,
    Cory
    coryschoolland.com

The reason there is no selection for Lens Make is that, until very recently, it was not a standard EXIF field. Even with EXIF 2.3, manufacturers are generally not filling in the field. So there's nothing to search for, unfortunately.
Apple is listed because of the iPhone models.

I am also having problems trying to install Lens Profile Downloader 1.0.1. I receive the following error message:
This application cannot be installed because this installer has been mis-configured. Please contact the application author for assistance.
I updated to the latest version of Adobe Air, I uninstalled the previous (1.0) version of Lens Profile Downloader (dragged it to the trash and emptied the trash), and I rebooted my Mac. I have tried downloading the file and rebooting my Mac several times and get the same error message every time. Any other suggestions?

Soory the image is in French ...so here is the translation for US readers

I have the same problem on Windows 7 Pro, its not about McIntosh, its probably an "Air-Error".
When I started Lens Profile Downloader, an Air update prompt popped up. So I updated Air to v3.3 if my memory serves, after which yet another Air update prompt appeared, this time to version 3.6. I installed that one too.  After which I found on Adobe web pages Lens Profile Downloader 1_0_1, but ONLY as an *.air file, no *.exe.
Ah well, why to go the simple way, lets develop our own "downloader" of a "kind 3000 and 7", and maintain it, just like every camera just have to have its own raw format.
With this *.air file and the Air 3.6 I also get this installation error:
I suppose we have to get an older air version, or just wait for the version 3.7 or something...

  • Adobe Lens Profile Downloader 1.0.1

Once I've downloaded the Lens Profile Downloader 1.0.1, I can't install it due to a wrong configured install program. Is there any solution how I can get the latest version of the lens profile downloader?

  • Lens Profile Downloader 1.0.1 - Can't sign in as required

To download profiles the utility requests sign in to photoshop.com.
When entering the same e-mail and password that I use to sign on from my browser I get:
"Could not log in to this account"
I am using Win7 64bit.  Previously I had CS5 Ext and just recently upgraded to CS6.
The same Adobe e-mail and password that work for everything else, don't work in Lens Profile Downloader

You shouldn't have to sign in just to download the profiles, just hit the Download button.
I believe you would only sign if you wanted to rate or comment on a lens profile.
Not sure that part of photoshop.com even exists anymore.
