Conversion of Order Unit to Base Unit

Hi Friends,
How to set the conversion of Order Unit to Base unit.
The scenario is like this.  Purchase order is made in Rolls but the stocking will be in meter.   I my case, when the GR is made in meter, the rolls should be multiplied by 65.  Instead the system is dividing the rolls by 65 meters which is wrong.
I want to correct same, but dont know where to do.
Kindly guide me to correct this.
TIA.
Regards,
Mark K

Hi Mark,
You can only change the base units of measure under the following circumstances
• No stocks are available for the material.
• There are no existing purchase requisitions, purchase orders, or scheduling agreements for the material.
• At present, no purchase orders or purchase order items are being created or changed.
If requests for quotations, purchasing info records, or contracts are available for a material, the system emits a warning while changing base unit of measure. Still if you want to change unit of measure specify in a dialog box the factor for converting the base unit of measure into the new base unit of measure. The purchasing info records are then, if necessary, updated.
As system is not allowing changing base unit of measure there will be either stock of this material or existing purchase document
1) If there are stocks in the previous period, you can clear them as follows:
a) Post the stock in the previous period to the current period (for example, using movement type 561) so that the stock for the previous period is the same as the stock for the current period.
b) Clear the stock with the posting date in the previous period (for example, using movement type 562).
• 2) If there are Open purchase requisitions, purchase orders, or scheduling agreements for the material.
We suggest completing all P2P cycle for open orders (purchase requisitions, purchase orders, or scheduling agreements) and then close it.
Then
1. Run Trnx MM02 (Change Material Master immediately.
2. Overwrite the old base unit of measure with the new one in basic data screen.
3. Save the change.
Reward points for helpful.

  • How to manage variable conversion factor in UOM to order unit

    Hi,
We have a material whose base unit is PC unit price is 8 Euro / PC
Order unit is Box now we do not have a standard conversion factor.
    Means sometimes vendor send 8 pc/ Box ,10 pc /Box and 12 pc /Box
so when we create Material master and enter order unit as Box in purchasing view system ask for conversion rate
if we do not enter any the value in PC field its taking 1 Box =1 PC as default.
Example: Now while creating PO say we order for 10 box.(at this point we do not know exact conversion rate)
and in the conditions we maintain price against PC .system calculate.
Now when we receive the material then we actually know how much QTy we receive in SKU (PC) but that field is blur (no input) in 101 mvt type.
One more thing In MIGO we can enter the Qty in PO Price Unit say we enter 80 PC
system only creates stock value posting (80 * 8 =640 Euro ) but the stock qty in MMBE is still 10 piece ( from 1:1 conversion with box)
Please suggest how we can handle this variable conversion rate.
So that we can enter correct Qty in the time of GR ( MIGO ).
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the valuable  Input.
For our material base unit is PC order unit is Box.
Say we main a conversion factor 10 PC =1 Box ( a default value) in MM01
And we order 10 Box. but when we receive we found that vendor send 12 pc per Box so total 120 pc
[ Po price unit is in PC in condition details]
Now in MIGO we cannot modify that Qty ( from 100 to 120 in PC)
SO you are suggesting here we receive 12 box in MIGO. so that actual qty in PC is correct..
    Thanks again

  • Requistion and Purchase Order - base unit and order unit

    People,
I have a basic doubt in MM:
I have a Requisition with a item using the base unit, for instance 20 litres.
When I create a Purchase Order in ME21N passing the requisition and item number, I must be converted to the order unit, correct?
In this case, we have 1 UN (order unit) corresponds to 20Liters (base unit).
I did believe the Purchase would be converted to 1 UN, but I got 20 Liters.
    What is correct?
    Thanks a lot!

If you maintian the order unit in the mateiral master purchaisng screen than whenever you create the PO system will convenrt in to that order unit and in the Po item details you will see the conversion of base unit to order unit.
now suppose you have more than one order unit than you activate the Variable order unit in the material master and maintiqan the conversion of that and create the diff info record for diff order unit based on the vendor so whne oyu create the PO as per the vendor system will pull the order unit in the PO.
Hope this will give you clear picture.

  • In PR only base uom can be used - Why not order unit ?

    Hi All,
When I create PR for raw material, SAP by default takes the base UOM. But our stack holders wants to use Order unit in the PR.
What is the setting required to use order unit in PR.
If this can't be done - what is the note number to support this standpoint from SAP.
    Please reply.
    Regards,
    Raj.

    Hi Rahul,
    Base unit : KG
    Order Unit: Meter
Currently all the raw materials planning is done outside SAP. Hence the planners raise raw material PR to procurement dept for processing.
Typical PR will have anything from 10 to 25 rawmaterial numbers in it.
Then again they manually cenvert the required order unit to base unit for PR purpose.
    Thanks,
    Raj.

  • Convert between EDI order Unit of Measure to Base Unit of Measure

    Hi all,
I am looking for a method whereby the following can be accomplished
    -  Customer orders certain products in LBS UOM...they have been quoted a per LB price and an equivalent CS price by sales and they choose to send EDI orders in LBS
    -  Base unit of measure for these products is in CS.  Stocking unit is cases.  Pricing also maintained in cases
    -   I've maintained alternative UOM in the MM records to convert LBS TO CASES
What i really want is for the customer to submit the EDI order specifying LBS but when  the sales order is created i want the order lines in CS.  I want to deliver and bill in CS as well.  I do not want the sales units to be the units that the order was submitted in.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thomas,
We make creative use of the customer-material info record (CMIR) to do what you describe.
Standard functionality of the CMIR will allow the customer to send their internal SKU on an EDI PO, converting it to our SAP material number for use in the sales order.
We maintain a u201Cconversion factoru201D in the CMIR field called Search Term.  We use an exit in the inbound IDoc processing code to apply the factor to the quantity ordered and the EDI1 price condition.  For example, the factor u201C/006CASu201D would divide the customeru2019s order quantity by six and use CAS as the UOM on the sales order.  The EDI1 price is multiplied by six, so that our CAS pricing matches up.
This allows any customer to order with their internal SKU and UOM, while we process the orders with our internal material numbers and preferred units.
An exit on the outbound process code allows us to use the same factor to change the values back into what the customer wants to see.
This works great in the consumer products industry, where we, the supplier, have to deal with inflexible customer EDI requirements.

    Ken

  • ME22N Show Numerator for Conversion of Order Price Unit into Order Unit

I hide Price in Me22n, when we do this, system hide the "Numerator for Conversion of Order Price Unit into Order Unit",  but i want show this field on screen.
This field is : in Me22n -> view "Quantites/Weights "->"Order Unit <-> Ord. Price Unit".
    How  do i  for this?

    Hi Paul,
The field for Denominator for Conv. of Order Price Unit into Order Unit is MEPO1311-BPUMN and for Numerator it is MEPO1311-BPUMZ. Try hiding only the Denominator field using Loop at Screen. <CODE> ENDLOOP and see.
Hope that it helps. Reward if useful.

  • Diff bet Base Unit and Order Unit

    Hi All,
I was going through the table MARA. I found tht there are two columns named 'Base Unit' n 'Order Unit'. I found interestingly that for couple of materials the units are diff in both coloumns (e.g: For a material Base Unit is EA but the Order unit is in KG). What is the diff bet Base unit and Order unit?
Please inform how is it possible to have two diff units for a single material??
    Thanks in Adv.

Base Unit of measure is generally the smallest unit that can be used for a material.
But a company may never issue orders in this base unit.
So in the material master, order unit can be configured which may be separate then Base unit.
As a result orders will always will be placed in this unit.
    For ex:
Base unit is set an Inch but the company always issues material always in foot.
Therefore in the material master Base unit of measure is set to Inch and Order Unit of measure is set to Foot

  • Sales Order Quantity in Base unit of measure

    Hi All,
I have a requirement in which I need Sales Order quantity in base uom. However, I noticed that 2lis_11_vatim doesn't extract this figure but instead has numerator and denominator in the extractor by which we would be able to calculate it. But, I am bit reluctant to do so as it might have an issue with rounding values.
I know that there are some standard function modules in R/3 which do this conversion. Is there any such FMs in BW to do this conversion? If not, is there any other way to get the sales order quantity in base uom other than calculating it using numerator and denominator?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Rgds,
    James.

    Hi Ajeet,
Just to confirm, is this the formula you normally use?
    Quan * N/D
Quan = Quantity to be converted
    N = Numerator
    D = Denominator

  • Order unit in material master

    Hi Gurus,
We have maintained order unit CS in material master, while creating purchase order we have changed the order unit CS to BAG. conversion was not maintained for BAG in material master.
But still PO is not throwing any error message. In actual it should give error message ..right ? as we  have changed the order unit CS to BAG?
    Please clarify
    subbu

    Hello,
If that Unit & its conversion wrt to base unit is niether maintained in Material master or nor in inforecord, then, system throws an error. Please check whether "BAG" is maintaiened in material master or inforecord. Also check message setting.
    Hope it will help u..
    Thanks

  • PR qty in PO - Order unit Qty

Hi Happy New Year to all.
I have a material for which bas unit of measure is EA. Order unit is Box(1 Box = 6 EA). I have maintain conversion factor in mat master.
My question is that if my
PR qty is 6 or less than 6 then my order qty should be 1 BOX.
PR qty is 12 or less than 12 then my order qty should be 2 BOX.
MRP (VB) will be run every week.
PR created automatically by system in base unit of measure only. Is it possible to create PR in Order unit (BOX)?.
For example, when i refer my PR (qty 9) in PO, system picks the order unit as 2 BOXu2026.no problem)
But the real problem is that i have system message 00 06 076 as error message which is to check the PR qty in PO (My PO qty shouldnu2019t be more than PR qty). Due to this message i am not able to create PO(since PO qty exceeds PR qty in this case) .
Is there any way when the system creates PR with Base unit of measure along with order unit also?
    Thanks

    hi,
PR is always created with base unit of measure only.
If you want the order unit field can be displayed in PR by changing the layout which is not usually the
    case
    1) PO qty always less than PR and 2) rounding value is defined    these 2 contradict each other
You should solve this first.Either change the error message to warning or remove the rounding value in material master so that PO qty is always less than PR.
    thanks

  • Conversion Problem in Unit of measure 1PAC=100,000 EA

    Hi Experts,
I am facing the problem in conversion of Unit of Measures.
If some material has the conversion unit when we order to Vendor.
The Unit of measure is EA, the Order unit is PAC.
    The conversion is 1PAC=100,000 EA
But the System is allowing as 1PAC=10,000 EA only and it is not allowing to enter 100,000 EA and throughing the error
Entry too long (enter in the format __,___)
    Message no. 00089
How can we increase the characters of the Unit of measure. Like this we have some 50 Materials, I need to increase the length of the conversion spaces. How to do it, Please guide me.
    rgds
    Swamy

    Hi
you can check this out the denominator factor is Stored in structure - SMEINH - field UMREN.
Best option is to maintain decimal place for the UOM , which is more easier to mainatin.
Even if you go through the note the same is explained. Please read below for Too large numerators and denominators
When 120000 CM3 = 0,2 tons (TO), you can no longer save numerator and denominator of conversion ratio 600000 CM3 = 1 TO as numerator and denominator may have maximally five digits.
Here, you must either select a larger volume unit or a smaller unit of weight: With DM3 the conversion ratio would be 600 DM3 = 1 TO, with KG the conversion ratio would be 600 CM3 = 1 KG.
Generally, the alternative units of measure and the base unit of measure should result in quantities that are in the same dimension since the conversion factors may not be larger than 99999/1 and not smaller than 1/99999.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Order Unit of Measure in APO ?

    Hi All,
    Need your expert help...
Where is the provision to find Order UOM in APO Product master ? (The equivalent field in ECC material master is 'Order Unit' in Purchasing tab)
In APO product master, I can find 'Base UOM' & the conversion of other UOM in the tab  to "unit of measure' of product master. But no where, am able to find Order UOM.
    Thanks for your time...
    Regards,
    Krishna

    Thanks for reply...
Maintaining the value directly in APO was never an otpoin we considered as the source of this order UOM is ECC and in SCM we want this to be automatically populated from ECC, based on the changes done in ECC for this order Unit at a material level.
Seems, enhancing the CIF exit for material master is the only option we have.

  • Conversion of alternate unit of measurement

    Hi,
System will not allow to enter conversions of unit of measurements in decimal points. But is there any configuration or method, we can force system to accept conversions of unit of measurements in decimal points only? (For example 2.5kg = 1pc, base unit of measurement is 'PC' and alternate unit of measurement is 'KG')
    Regards,
    Sattuj

    Hi,
For the given example of Alternate conversion you can use the following setting :
    2.5 Kg = 1 Pc
    Put the Values as :
    25 Kg = 10 Pc
With this the objective of Decimal is achieved.
Please check the following posts for more info :

  • MIGO Error- Order Unit & Order Price Unit

    Hi,
I have a material whose base UOM is EA & alternate UOM is KG.(Conversion is maintained in the Material Master).
I have created a PO for this material with order unit as EA & order price unit as KG.
Now,when I try to do the GR using MIGO,I get the following error message:
"Quantities cannot be converted for the the Material".
i.e, the system is not able to do the conversion between EA & KG.
How to resolve this issue? Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Kaveri

    Hi Mallinath,
I had tried a similar thing with another material & it was working fine.
To summarise my problem once again, please see the below data maintained by me:
    MMR-
    Base UOM in EA
Alternate UOM in KG (25 KG = 1EA)
    PO-
    Order unit in EA
    Order price unit in KG
With the above settings,MIGO is giving me the error:
Quantities cannot be converted for the material.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,

  • Order unit of material

    Hi Gurus,
We want to change the material to put an order unit, but we have an exsiting PO using the base unit of this material and
when we edit the material put an order unit the message come out "This order unit has been used already" I can't save
what I'm going to do? what will be the effect to the existing PO using teh base unit when we put an order unit?
    hoping to your answer.
    Thanks

    Hi,
IS THERE DIFFER FROM BASE UNIT &  ORDER UNIT.  IF THEN WHAT IS CONVERSION RATIO.
IF YOU CHANGE THE ORDER UNIT THEN SINCE OPEN PO IS THERE. HOW WILL YOU RECEIVE THE MATERIAL AGAINST WHICH CONVERSION.
    IT IS NOT LOGICAL.
