Conversion of Planned order in APO

Hi there ,
              I am SAP PP consultant & learning APO ...... I will ask many question that may sound very simple but please excuse me.
As per my undrestanding we can create planend order in APO & then transfer that to R/3 or other way we can do the conversion to production order also in APO & then tranfer that in R/3.......
What is the relative advantage & disadvantage of both the methods.....
Please suggest me

Hi,
Just to clarify, the transfer of data from the execution system (SAP R3) to the planning system (APO) depends on the configuration and settings carried out in the two integrated systems.
When an APO planned order is converted into an R/3 production order, certain APO and R/3 data is merged. During this merge, certain information from the APO planned order is copied to the production order.
When the data has been merged, the production order has been saved and, if necessary, the R/3 planned order has been deleted, the R/3 order number is returned to APO (assuming there is an active CIF integration model for production orders). This ensures that orders in SAP R/3 and SAP APO are known by the same order number. An order that is created in SAP APO and published to SAP R/3 is assigned its own number in SAP R/3. The number that is assigned in SAP R/3 is always different to the existing order number in SAP APO. The R/3 order number is sent back to SAP APO and assigned to the original order.
This return process is carried out for planned orders and manufacturing orders.
If an order is transferred from SAP APO to SAP R/3 and is assigned its final order number there then the order is automatically sent back from SAP R/3 to SAP APO so that the order number assigned by SAP R/3 is also available in SAP APO. This process is called key completion.
In some cases it may also be necessary to return the order number to SAP APO if no new order number is assigned in SAP R/3, for example if components have been added in the production order.

    Hi,
    Are you using this for trim interface ?
    If yes, you need to use Template PDS/ppm for the same.
    For more info, you can have a look at SAP note 919080.
    Let me know if this info helps

  • Creation of production order from manual or conversion from Planned Order

    Hello Guru,
    i would like to know why does the production finish date differ when we do manual and conversion of planned order into a production order?
    Thanks

    Ryan,
    When a planned order is created it just uses the Inhouse production time defined to derive the dates, whereas incase of production orders, it would try to schedule the operation and based on that the scheduled dates are derived. The other possibility is the different scheduling types are used for Planned order and Production order. Check transaction OPU5 and OPU3

  • Read the characteristics of a planned order in APO

    how can we read the characteristics of a planned order in APO.What Function Module can be used for this?
    how can we manually schedule the order activities based on the characteristics. Can we use the function module
    /SAPAPO/OM_ACT_SCHEDULE by copying and making some changes in it for this purpose?

    Hi,
    if there are any orders in your system with characteristics (in planning version 000) then this report will find them:
    report  get_char.
    data:
       ls_genp     type /sapapo/om_gen_params,
       lt_orderid  type /sapapo/om_orderid_tab,
       lt_char     type /sapapo/om_charact_val_tab.
    ls_genp-simversion = '000'.
    call function '/SAPAPO/OM_ORDER_GET_ALL'
      exporting
        is_gen_params = ls_genp
        iv_simsession = ''
      importing
        et_orders     = lt_orderid.
    call function '/SAPAPO/OM_ORDER_GET_DATA'
      exporting
        is_gen_params       = ls_genp
        iv_simsession       = ''
        it_order            = lt_orderid
      importing
        et_charact_val_acts = lt_char.

  • BUG in  Conversion of Planned order to Production Order.

    Dear all,
    I got an error while conversion of planned order to production order are as follows,
    No Default values maintained for op.generation for order type ZFT1(matlPILSF002).
    Can anyone please guide me to proceed further.
    Kumar.

    Hi,
    Root cause behind this problem is, no Routing found.
    First complete below settings.
    - Go to OPJG And create defult Operation creation in case of no Routing found.This setting will generate the default Operation incase of no routing found during Order creation.
    - In T.code OPJF Create automatic selection parameters (Selection ID) for Routing.
    - In T.Code OPL8 Maintain Selection ID for Routing and also maintain type of Routing selection (3 - Automatic Routing selection)

  • Field setting when collective conversion from planned order to PR

    Dear expert:
    Is there any way(except ABAP enhancement) to add the field "tracking number" in MD15 when I conduct collective conversion from planned order to PR. Seems in standard config this field in not included in this screen. I have set this field as a mandatory field, but even though when I conduct the conversion, this field still can not be displayed in the MD15 conversion screen.

    Hi,
    There are following T. Codes to convert Planned Order to PR;
    MD14 - Individual Conversion
    MD15 - Collective Conversion
    MDUM - In Background
    Also MD04
    User Exit is LMDZU001 - User exits in additional planning

  • Conversion of planned orders to production orders

    Hi,
    we are doing mass conversion of planned orders to production orders and performing capacity availability check, how system will give log information based on these two things,
    when i perform availability check at time of order creation and will not allow to create if anything is missing (i selected user decides option in configuration), does it show any error log report and where can i see.
    When i perform availability check at time of release, if anything missing it will not allow to release and give a choice for a user to release in normal production order creation process, how it will work in mass conversion. is there any standard report to look at missing planned orders so that users will come to know and then decides whether to convert to production order or not.
    thanks in advance.

    Dear ,
    In SM38-Enter PPBICO40 -Execute -Here you need to Mark the Output log option with Erros only or Error Folder for each MRP controller  .Frist you do it in test mode and then remove test mode , mark the Output log option as per requured field and check the result .
    refer this useful thread : Program PPBICO40 for conversion of planned orders to production order

  • Unable to see planned order in APO

    Dear Experts,
    I'm creating a Project manufacturing order in ERP. After that I do MRP run in SCM7.0. When I check in Product View (transaction /SAPAPO/RRP3), I do not see any planned order, though I can see orders in ERP (Tcode-md04).
    I guess transfer of network to APO is not happening.
    Same problem arises when I schedule a dummy project in ERP and after I do MRP run in SCM7.0, I do not see any planned order in planning board.
    The MRP run in SCM7.0 shows no error and no warnings and everything appear in green.
    I was able to see planned orders in APO before there was system upgrade from SCM 4.2 to SCM 7.0.
    Please provide some clue to solve this problem.
    Regards,
    Jyoti

    Hi Jyoti,
    There will be an "Iterate" button on the left hand corner in the result display of CCR.  Please click on this button so that these errors will get iterated and goes to the respective distinations.  After this, you go to smq1 and smq2 trasnaction codes of R/3 and clear all the queues.  Similarly you clear the queues in smq1 and smq2 transaction codes of APO.  Afterwards, check whether you are able to see the planned order.
    Please confirm

    after Menu -- Program --- Excute in background -- set properties -- to set send SAP spooler --- click button immediate then check box periodic job and periodic values after save
    to monitor and get spool request bcackground this job
    TCode SM37
    or
    you can create background job using TCode SM36
    pls create varient for COHV
    PRG: PPIO_ENTRY with Varient

  • Automatic conversion of planned orders

    Hi PP Gurus,
    I have a requirement to convert planned orders to production orders automatically. I believe SAP standard does not offer this functionality.
    The possible solution seems to be writing new program which could be a copy of C041 transaction code.
    Did someone ever worked on this functionality?
    Request to share your experience and possibilities on this - Thanks
    Regards
    Seshu

    Dear Seshu,
    In my understanding there is no T Code for making the conversion of planned order into a production order as an automatic
    process.
    But you can use the T code CO41 for converting a list of planned order's into production orders.
    In many cases the planned order is only a proposal and only after converting it into a production order and releasing it then the
    exact shop floor activities starts like Good's issue.This activity is done by a production scheduler.So in case if you develop a
    program to convert automatically,then reservation gets generated for all the production orders, which is not recommended.
    Also check this link,
    http://www.sap-img.com/production/automatic-conversion-to-production-orders.htm
    Check and revert back.

  • Order type for conversion of planned order

    Hi gurus,
    I have configured 6 different order types for PPPI and not maintained any default order type for conversion of planned order into process order. But when I am trying to convert planned order into process order by branching out from MD04 to COR7 via the popup window, default order type PI01 gets selected which  cannot be changed. However, if I am converting the planned order into process order directly through COR7, then choice of order type is available.
    Could you please tell me how to ensure choice of order type while branching from MD04 to COR7?
    Regards,
    Abhik

    Hi Datta
    The order type is selected as below
    First it will look for any scheduling profile is maintained. If so it will select default from the profile.
    Next if the profile is not there it will look for any scheduler is assigned in material master. Through the scheduler it will select the profile and default order order type.
    Next it will look in plant parameter. With conversion from plan order to prod order  order type
    Next it will look in MRP group conversion order type,  if you have mainted it in Material master.
    This is the sequence. Please check have to maintained any of these.
    Hope this is clear

    Hi,
    I am not able to get what is passing the start date.
    Second thing is how you are generating the serial number - manually or automatic?
    If you are generating serial number automatic, then it is not possible to generate it considering the basic start date.
    But if you are entering the serial number manually, then there should not be any problem as system will accept that serial number which you enter at the time of conversion of planned order to production order.

  • Conversion of Planned order into a Production Order.

    Hi All,
             I have one ticket in which I have to change the format of generating serial no.s.This format has to consider
    Basic Start Date while generating it.In our project Serial No is getting generated at the time of Production Order.
    So I have to pass this start date before Prod Order is getting created from a Planned Order.What i want to know is it possible to pass a start date when a Planned Order is getting converted into Prod Order as i think it will be a standard SAP program which will convert a Planned Order into Prod Order.Any suggestions on how to achieve this is most welcome.
    Thanks in Advance,

  • Partial conversion of Planned orders to Production orders

    Hi all
    I wan tot partially convert planned order to production order. I am able to do this with MD04. Is there a tcode for mass partial conversion. CO41 does not allow a partial conversion. Is there a way I can collectively do a partial conversion.
    thanks

    Hi John,
    To the best of my knowledge there is no t-code to do a mass partial conversion of planned orders.
    You can try with a lsmw recording of t-code co48 & then input your planned order numbers with the qty to be partially converted or alternatively use co41, change the qty & convert the planned orders, but with this you will need to re-run MRP to create another planned order for the balance qty.
    Hope the above helps.

    Vivek
