Conversion of video files - Usage of Quick Time Pro
Hello everybody. I hope somebody can help me.
I bought the QuickTime Pro 7.3.1 together with my iTouch. QuickTime can't play my videos: sometimes a message error appears saying "QuickTime ressourcendatei does not reply", sometimes it prompts me to install an additional codec (xvid etc..). even if I install a codec successfully I still can't open the videos.
And since I can't open the videos I cannot convert them for the iTouch.

Another suggestion here-download the necessary codecs.
If you do not have them, how can your system read the video files that uses them?

i am having problems exporting my time lapses from quick time pro i need to save my files as photo jpegs but the standard video compression window will not open fully, it just keeps my mac (old 1.6Ghz 2.5 GB sdram G5 still good for most stuff i need) spinning for ever but i can see compression type H.264 selected and the other setting but i can not select any other options as it still thinking but never opens! why is this happening how do i get round it?
my work flow is: 300 images shot on a 5d mark II medium jpegs opened in Light Room cropped to 16:9 then exported and opened in quick time i can save a .mov H264 giving me files sizes of 14 mb for a 16 second time lapse, mp4 9 mb. the only way i can get large files is saving as a self contained movie then i get 300mb files.
i need to save my files 1920 x 1080 photo jpeg codec as i want HD quality.
i am sure there is a simple way round this?
thanks guys!It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.
How large is your hard drive and how much hard drive space do you have left? -

As of the Upgrade to Lion,. 2007 I-Mac - the Email portion, .. DOES NOT allow a Video Clips to be sent via the Email
as the I-Photo is not supported by Video Clips ( Previous Leopard )
No problem clip and drag via Quick Time Pro to the email and select the Attchment size to send. . Depending on the
Size of the Video Clip .. Now Lion only Export's 1 size, . only and as a result . . teh File is TOO Large and
Will NOT send via E-Mail ???

as my Photo Size is Huge .. 70,000 + photos in the Computer. . and was 40,000 in the I - Touch .. .

I have AVI files that I need to convert to MOV files so that I can edit them in Final Cut Pro. I am going to use Quick Time Pro for this....When I have the files open in QT Pro do I have to 'export' it or can I just 'save as', or is there even a difference? Thanks in advance for your help!
I strongly recommend you use compressor to do the conversion (if it will open the files - since quicktime will open them, it will more than likely do it.
Compressor allows you to customize presets and save them and apply them to multiple files. Although the interface may seem daunting, it's actually pretty simple.
Even if you can edit the avi in fcp, it's not a good idea. Liable to cause problems down the road. -
Export in Quick Time Pro gives Error -43: a file could not be found
Have been successfully exporting videos mades on my camera via Quick Time Pro for many months to convert for Apple TV. However in the last week the same routine process now causes an error on export. Error -43: a file could not be found.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing QT Pro and no difference, have also tried different export formats and they all give the same error.
Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks

This is a old post from when I had recieved the Error-43 file could not be found. In my case I had a drive lettered F:\ F:\ when changing the drive to a single letter F:\ it resolved the problem, so something you might want to take a look at. -
Quick Time Pro not working - Video to iPod
I have not been able to copy video to my new iPod using Quick Time Pro
In this case this is a MPEG-4 to the Quick Time Movie format( MOV )
I have followed the tutorial of exporting this MPEG to the iPod( 320X240 ) format.
The exported file plays well on iTunes but when I synchronize the iPod I get a message that the file format cannot be played on the iPod and a Help-Link back to the same tutorial
I even tried converting a MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, with the same results.
Help & advise appreciated !

QuickTime requires seperate video and audio tracks in order to produce a file for the iPod with both video and audio.
If the MPEG-2 you are trying to convert is muxed it will only take the video part of the muxed track.

Quick Time Pro wont save edited 3GPP file
Hello All. I just bought Quick Time Pro, and I want to edit a video I took on my cell phone (just delete the last few seconds). I open the 3GPP file, set the in and out markers, and select Trim to Selection. Then I tried to save the file to my desktop both with its current name, and with a new name. I dont get any error when I click save, but there is no new file if I change the name, and the changes dont save if I leave the file name as it was.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
MHeya. I have a similar problem, about the first posted here. Let me explain: My brother has deleted quick time 2 weeks ago by mistake, and then I had to uninstall everything and reinstall. The problem is, I've done it 3 times already, but the iTunes doesn't work yet. It says that there's an error in quick time, then, when I try opening quick time, it says "QuickTime failed to initialize. Error # -2093" and all those things about making sure if it's really instaled... and it is.
I also went to see the problem directly on the Quick Time Preferences, in its configuration... when I select "Audio", it says: "Buffer overrun detected!
Program: C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe
A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must be now terminated."
What can I do to solve this? I need some help here =( -

I use XP Windows,i have no problem with downloading onto the video ipod from itunes also no problem with videos from the music store,BUT ! i have a problem trying to convert my homemade movies onto quicktime,KEEPS COMING UP WITH ERROR 2048,there are no problems playing the movies on windows media,only when i try to open file with quick time,it says ERROR 2048,if i could get it onto quicktime,then i would have no problems converting the file into mpeg4,then i could take my home movies anywhere.
Can ANYONE HELP WITH THIS?Are you wanting help or do you think this forun is your own personal bullentin board?

How To Delete .mov file Created In Quick Time
How do I delete an audio file created in Quick Time Player and saved in my Movies folder as a .mov file? I can't drag it to Trash, and I can't access the delete option in the Edit dropdown, and Help doesn't seem to cover that topic. It just puts the floating blue marker beside Select All, which seems to do nothing much.

Play two video files at the same time.
I am trying to play two video files at the same time. I create two threads, each of which has its own frame, playing button, and builds its own graph to play the file. Now everything seems works except that when the first file is being played and I hit PLAY
to play the second file, the program plays the second file but the first one is paused; furthermore the control button has no response for the first one. Did I miss anything? Can anyone help me figure out the problem?

FayinYou don't need separate threads for 2+ playback pipelines because the filters create worker threads internally and don't block execution on calling thread.
If you decide to keep separate threads, you will have to follow Michel's advice and have message pumps on those threads.
You can also have both files in the same graph, in which case you have perfect sync between them (both start playing together in sync), however you cannot pause/stop/run files separately.
The problem you described is most likely not a DirectShow problem and is rather about generic threading, COM or window messaging.

QT 7 Pro can create video flies that can be burned to a "data" DVD and can even playback the video from a DVD on a computer if properly encoded but QT 7 Pro is not a DVD "authoring" application nor is it a DVD "burning" application. -
I can hear the audio for each video BUT the window for SEEING the videos does not open- it remains "closed" on top of the start/stop/pause controller. HOW can I fix this so I can also see the videos I want to edit?
It worked fine the day I uploaded and began using Quick Time Pro, but has not since that day....If it is still slow after removing Symantec, you may need a RAM upgrade. Yosemite can run very poorly on older machines with only 4 GB RAM.
