Conversion to MPEG4, loosing sound

If I convert a video file (MPEG) to prepare it for my iPod classic I seem to loose the audio channels. What can I do to secure the audio and video?
BTW If i play the converted file I have no audio on my iPod, nor on iTunes on my desktop.

QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, when you convert videos in iTunes to iPod format they only show the video and no sound since iTunes (really QuickTime) is not looking for the audio track within the video track and it gets lost.

One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...

hi friends
i have been using the video ipod since a month.i use videora to transcode videos..but today i dunno why but exactly after 30 sec. the movies get stuck for say 3-4 sec. and then i loose sound but the movies play from where they left..
i restored my ipod to factory settings but the problem still continues..i'm using the latest version of the software and i dunno whatz wrong all of a sudden..please help

It won't. I'll make it much worse. Stick to the 1.0 updater that came with your iPod and don't upgrade to 1.1.

I don't think the two are related. The noise is most likely the camera's autofocus mechanism and is normal. Wifi issues are not normal. Search this forum for iP5 wifi issues to look for solutions.

i download games but on a lot of games i loose sound, they will play for a while then the sound will go, its only on the games, sound works fine on everything else. thanks for any help

I tried a Sound Blaster USB X-Fi HD a couple of weeks ago and found it totally unacceptable. It couldn't do something as simple as play music without getting constant audio drop outs. it was also awful playing games and causing hiccups with the video which seemed to be caused by the audio drop outs. I made sure to download all the latest software and drivers, but no luck. I decided to ditch it and go with the internal X-Fi Titanium Fatality Champ PCIe card and I/O drive. I installed it
yesterday and it's absolutely fantastic. I don’t get audio drop outs for anything, no matter how many other things I'm doing on my system, and games are much, much smoother with amazing sound. I'm running an Intel quad core i5 2.8GHZ system with 8GB RAM, an ATI Radeon 5570 1GB video card, and Windows 7 64 bit.

There's a glitch in my words with friends app that causes me to continually loose sound. Problem is every time I re:download the same app from iCloud I get the recurring problem. Is there anything I can do here? Pls help because it's driving me nuts!

Words with friends app has a glitch where I loose sound constantly, so every time I re:download it, I'm having the same problem as its the same faulty app from iCloud.

I'm not seeing that problem with Words with Friends on my iPhone 5 with iOS 8.3. Check your sound settings.
Try the standard troubleshooting steps in this order:
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds). No data will be lost.
Restore: Connect your device to iTunes on your computer, backup, and then select Restore to Factory.

Why am I loosing sound while working on garageband?

I has come to my attention for sometime now that while working on garageband I loose sound in my mac. I need to restart my machine in order to get sound back in it. Does anyone has experienced this bug, and how do you dealt with it?

As you're rebooting the computer anyway, I would reset the PRAM and SMC and see if it makes things better:

If that doesn't help, I think I'd buy a budget USB sound card and try that instead - in any case it will sound better than the internal speakers of your MacBook.

Why do apple headphones with mic loose sound???

i've had numerous apple headphones with mic and they seem to loose sound from one earplug!
Anyone know why? At £26 pound each time, they're not cheap!

headsets have been shortlived since I had walkmen in the early 1980's sure expensive ones last a bit longer but they all die pretty early

Mpeg 1 muxed to mpeg4 NO SOUND!!!

I am trying, without success, to create a movie with IMovie using some existing Q-time mpegs that are in mpeg1 muxed format (first time trying to do this...) - BUT! - the muxed audio will not export to mpeg4. No sound. Nada. The Quicktime "Help" has been unhelpful in resolving this. Suggestions?

QuickTime Pro has never been able to export audio from "muxed" files (MPEG 1 or 2 and Flash).
Use MPEG Streamclip (free) to either export or convert your .mpg files to QT formats.

Keeps loosing sound since iOS8

My ipad doesnt work well since i updated it to iOS8. It lags and the sound losses and when i reboot it it goes to normal for a few minutes and i loose the sound again or sometimes some distortion. i cant keep on rebooting it. can someone help me?

You can also try backing up your iPhone and restoring the iOS. This will erase everything then you can restore fomr your backup to bring back you apps and all of the associated data. If you decide to do the easier steps of deleting and reinstalling the individual app, you will loose the data contained within that app, unless there is a log in account associated when you set up the app (like connect to facebook, or another internet account).

H264 video clip looses sound when imported to FCP X

I have a simple sequence in FCP X for a presentation. It includes several photographs plus two video clips. They are H264 and have audio. But, when I import these two clips to my sequence, one of them looses its audio. For the life of me I can't figure out why. It comes in without its audio wave form and has no sound. Any suggestions?

Post a screen shot of the clip in the browser in list view with waveforms and a screen shot of the timeline with waveforms displayed.

Loosing sound on audio instruments

A few days ago I upgraded to Tiger 10.4.5. I also upgraded to Itunes 6.04 and I installed an utility(from apple) to make itunes available on my mobile.
Since then my logic 7.1.1 start loosing the sound on audio instruments. Some times onely one channel, sometimes both. If I configure an new audio instrument on an available track, the sound comes back on the instruments which lost it.
Any explanation?

Push those upgrades!
It is a known bug and happens to me also. Some days Logic gets in a state where instruments drop out randomly. Nasty bug and a real creativity killer. I have 7.1.1 on 10.4.5 but i refuse to pay for the "Universal Version Sidegrade on principle and because I don't give a frag if I am compatible with Intel Dual processors as of yet.
My suggestion is to go through all the old stuff like repair permissions, disk warrior, run all the system maintenance routines, delete preference files etc.
Michael what are you hearing about 7.1.1 and 10.4.5?
that is what I am running but I am not using it much at the moment.

Loosing sound on face time

Hi everybody from France.
I'm loosing the sound on face time after 5 to 10 minutes, only when I'm talking between MBP to IPod or IPad. And never between Ipod and Ipad.
Is anybody knows why???

when i run fuzzy logic 4 in turbo mode i loose my sound, my mainboard is the MSI 845gmax with a 1.8 pent 4 with 1 gig of ddr2100, i have the ac97 audio,i did upgrade to all current drivers,i only loose the sound when fuzzy is in turbo mode to overclock,any help on this one?

The timing control for onboard sound and onboard video is taken from the pci bus as well as any card that are inserted. When you overclock the fsb you also overclock the onboard sound chip as well. At some point this chip can not keep up and fails.
