Conversions using Calorific Values?

HI all,
My system takes a meter reading in CCF and converts consumption to Therms for billing purposes, therefore we use thermal gas billing. We maintain calorific value districts and daily calorific values for this calculation.
There are (at least) 2 places where this UOM conversion occurs:
1 - When the meter reading is entered, the system calculates the consumption immediately.
2 - During billing, the system recalculates consumption.
My problem is that the conversion rate used in these 2 calculations is different, for the same time period for the same installation.
Billing uses the average calorific value for the billing period, the meter read uses the calorific value of the day of the meter read.
Is there something in the config for the Calorific Value Procedure that specifies these differently? I don't see anything in there dealing with meter reads specifically, it appears to deal with billing. So how do I specify that I would like the calculation that takes place on the save of the meter read to also use the arithmatic mean?
My values are thus in the "Display Calorific Value Procedure" config:
Calorific Value Type = REAL
Cal Value for Billing = PLANT
Time Ref for CV = 1 Day
Averaging Type = Arithmatic mean
Weighting Key = blank
Average is checked (Average calc. for billing (arith., weighted or lower value))
Weighting / CV Dist = Normal weighting via table TE415
Ref Cal Value = 1.00000
UOM b.con = CCF
UOM a.con = TH

Hi Experts,
Cube load is taking more than 7 hrs to complete for 6 million records. Max time is at Conversion of Characteristic Values to SIDs. Cube consists of 500 fields. Load is from DSO to Cube. DSO has 10 fileds with no SID flag check for activation. Remaining fields in the CUBE are pouplated looking in to other DSO's. Start and End routines are executing very fast. How to fasten Conversion of Characteristic Values to SIDs step. I need to load 15 million records daily as part of delta. any suggestions.

File to File using BPM & value mapping

Hi,
   I have the following scenario to do. sample file structure is given below.
source:
HDR   13052008INDIA
BDY   123456
BDY   1234567
EOF
Target:
HDR 2IN BDY 123456 EOF
HDR 2IN BDY 1234567 EOF
for the above mentioned source and target mapping. we have to use BPM and value mapping.
In the HDR row 13052008 is the date value this has to be passed to RFC function module and it will return 2, this value has to be mapped to target
And INDIA has to be mapped to IN using the value mapping option. similarly we have many coutry code.

Hey,
     This is a normal file to file scenario.
     You need to use RFC look up instead of value mapping.(as you need to extract 2 and IN from an RFC)
There is no need for a BPM.

this will solve your problem.
Output of RFC look up will be 2 and IN . So use the concat function.
Other values map them directly from source to target.
Also, set the occurence for the target structure as 0 to unbounded in the mapping.(this is to be done in order to have one file for each record of the source)
You also need to configure file content conversion.(both at sender and reciever side) to convert the text file to XML on the sender side and then XML to text at the reciever side.

Mapping conversion of source value 4448601.75 to target value 448601

Mapping conversion of source value 4448601.75 to target value 4448601 or source value 999999.99 to target value 999999
Here standard functions like round, floor, ceil..etc, will not work because they will convert source value 4448601.75 to 4448602 and source value 999999.99 to 1000000.
Also i may have blank or white spaces coming in front of the source value from R/3 side like _____999999.99 and i want the value at the target side as _____999999. Here _____ representing blank or white spaces.
How i will do the mapping, can someone help me out.

No....! The floor function can be used. It returns the largest integer that is not greater than the passed value. However this will also trim the spaces.
So u can write a UDF that accept the number and substring till the decimal point and returns it.
Try this.. It works..

return a.substring(0,a.indexOf('.'));

Conversion exits before value mapping in AIF

Hi All
I'm trying to use conversion exits before mapping in define value mapping, where I want to truncate leading zeroes in the source field before the value mapping is executed.
I'm using the conversion exit 'ALPHA' (internal->external) to achieve this, but the leading zeroes do not get truncated. Below is an example-
Conversion Exit: ALPHA
Data Element for conversion:
Direction: Internal->External
Source Value: 0000012345
Expected Value after conversion: 12345
Actual Value after conversion: 0000012345
A similar issue Error in reading a value from database table is noted here, however note 1892571 that is suggested does not seem to resolve the issue I'm facing.
Am I missing something here?

I think the values that you have given for source values (Agency and scheme)
and Target values (Agency and scheme) may be mismatching so kindly chek that...even i got the same error in the past..........
If you the this problem kindly change it accordingly and also refresh the cache once you that with this.........

Periodic application, conversion on ytd value

Hi all,
I have SAP BPC 7.5.108 MS, I need to do a periodic application,but I would like to do a conversion applied on YTD value.
Do you know if it's possible in the business rules?
I know that it's possible, in the Ytd applciation, to apply the conversion on periodic value, would be very nice to do also the conversion applied on YTD values.

Hi Chiara,
this is not possible by using the standard rules. However you should be able to achieve it by using an additional element in your flow dimension on which you (with a script) calculate the YTD value. Your conversion rule could then convert this amount and write the result onto the original flow.

I have implemented currency conversion using SPRUNCONVERSION stored procedure. I have following questions regarding how does it work.
1. Is it mandatory to create FxTrans Business Rules with SPRUNCONVERSION?
2. How does it work internally? How does it look up rate from the rate application?

1. Yes since it will base it's translation rules based on what is defined on the currency conversion business rules.
2. The stored procedure SPRUNCONVERSION scans all records found in the selected region of data and translates them according to the RATETYPE property assigned to the ACCOUNT specified in each record, based on the following mechanism:
Note:
All ACCOUNTS with no RATETYPE (ratetype = blank) will be translated with a factor of 1
All ACCOUNTS with the reserved RATETYPE = NOTRANS will not be translated
All other ACCOUNTS will be translated according to the definitions contained in the table of parameters called clcFXTRANS.
How the RATE table is selected
While most customers require a single table of rates, there are situations when more than one set of rates is required. In this situation, the translation procedure uses the RateEntity dimension to select the correct table of rates to use.
Whenever a destination currency is selected, the procedure searches for a RateEntity member flagged with this currency in the Currency property. For example, if translating into USD, the system uses the RateEntity member that has the Currency property set to USD.
If there is no RateEntity flagged as the destination currency, the system will use the RateEntity with Currency = 'u2019 (blank).
In addition to this, some exceptions by ENTITY can be applied. For example, some entities just entering in the consolidation perimeter may need to be converted at their own specific set of rates. These entities may have a corresponding RateEntity member in the RATE cube. All ENTITIES having a corresponding RateEntity member in the RATE cube will use that member as rate table. For example, if there is a RateEntity member named like the ENTITY USOps, the RateEntity member USOps will be used to translate the values of entity ENTITY USOps.
The RateEntity member, when representing an ENTITY, may be any of the following:
A valid base level or parent member ID from the ENTITY dimension of the main cube
A list of members of the ENTITY dimension, as defined filtering the members using a value of the DIMLIST property (or any property whose name begins with "DIMLISTu201D) of such dimension.

You can just simply edit to each column's report attribute. For example,
To set default date,
Default Type: PL/SQL Expression of Function
Default: sysdate
To set default text,
Default Type: PL/SQL Expression of Function
Default: *'CLERK'*

Using null value of item

Hi All,
I use this part-of-code in pl/sql statement in a 'where' clause in order to filter records to those that took place between some hours range:
..... and to_char(STARTDATE,'HH24:MI:SS') between NVL(:P3_HOURS_FROM,'00:00:00') and NVL(:P3_HOURS_TO,'23:59:59')
P3_HOURS_FROM & P3_HOURS_TO are combo box items with LOV (0:00,0:30,1:00 ....etc that returns 00:00:00,00:30:00,1:00:00 respectively). I use a null value which is displayed as '--:--'.
when i choose some hour range the rsults are correct. the problem is when i choose null values. there is no results to the report, probably (i guess) because it somehow translate the (null) time value to the same value (and it's obvious that between same time values there isn't any result).
so i guess i use 'null' value in an inappropriate way.
Can u tell me what do i do wrong???

Are you sure you are returning NULL and just displaying '--:--' in your LOV?
If the state of your LOV is becoming '--:--' then this does not equal null in PL/SQL land.
I presume you are also submitting after changing your LOVs?
You can check the state of your items by clicking the session state in the developers toolbar at the bottom. See what your items are being set and report back!

Performance - Conversion of characteristic values to SID

Greetings:
Yesterday I load 556.000 record into an infocube.
No transformations of any kind. Direct assign for every infoobject. Very simple
It lasted 1 h 30m to complete the loading.
It started loading 7 datapackage of 50.000 records each.
I realized that 3 of those datapackage (#2, #4 and #7) lasted from 41:47min to 41:59min in the "Conversion of characteristic values to SID" task. The other 5 lasted ... seconds.
Any idea of that could be going on during this conversion?
I don't understant why some datapackages last so long and other don't.
Does anybody has any idea about this?

Hi Daniel,
The SID generation is based upon the Dimension Table and Master data.
If you see the dimension table can be build with different types like:
one to many
many to one
many to many
one to one
So, if the dimension's for that datapacket data is many to many then it has to get all the relations and then it has to assign an SID.
If it is one to one then there will be no more work to be done by the system to assign the SID's

Slow dataload into Infocube- Conversion of Characteristic values to SIDs

Hi All,
we are facing a slow delta load issue when loading from a DSO into an InfoCube ( approx 150,000 recs).
After checking the monitor found that
- The Conversion of Characteristic values to SIDs is taking time
- The Start Routine time is real quick ( in secs)
The underlying DSO is hugh and there is no SIDs Generation upon Activation flag set for it
Master data is loaded first and than we are loading the transaction data.
i've tried refreshing the stats of the Cube, Reduce the size of the data package,
Deletion of Indexes than Loading and recreation of Indexes, no joy at all.
Any comments and recommendations are much appreciated.

The problem for your slow delta load from DSO to cube is because the SIDs Generation upon Activation flag is unchecked at DSO level .
Becasue of which your activation is faster but your loading from DSO to cube will be slower as you only mentioned that SIDs are being generated .
One recommendation will be to switch on the property of the DSO SIDs Generation upon Activation flag .
Are there any secondary indexes also in DSO ?
You can try deleting them also during loading the data from DSO to cube .
I guess your change log table is also huge in this case . If possible we can think of deleting the log table also . Then for the new records let it get filled .

Conversion of Characteristic Values to SIDs. Load Very slow

Hi Experts,
We have a slow load issue when loading from a Write-Optimized DSO into an InfoCube. 8 millon recs in 10 hours.
We check the start, end, and rules routines and every is ok but for all the package the load was very slow in the Conversion of Characteristic Values to SIDs.
Can any help me with this?

How to use Table valued MSSQL function in OBIEE

Hi all,
Can some one help me to understand how to use table valued function in OBIEE? I want to use a table valued function (MSSQL function, with some input parameter), in the physical layer to pull the data?
I know for MSSQL Stored Procedure we can write as
EXEC SP_NAME @Parameter = 'VLUEOF(NQ_SESSION.Variablename)'
but now I have a table valued function in the query window I can get the data as
select * from myfunction(parametervalue)
In physical layer of OBIEE I have tried as
select * from myfunction('VLUEOF(NQ_SESSION.Variablename)'), but I'm getting error as the NQ_SESSION variable doesn't have a value , but actually I have initialized the variable but still Im getting error.
Can some one help me to solve this.
