Your Mail is not gone. The problem you are having following the upgrade to Leopard (10.5.6) from Tiger, is probably what has been covered by the support document at the link below:

If you also find any files named to include MessageSorting (which would mean you once have upgraded from a version of OSX earlier than 10.4), remove those, also, but never restore those.
To find the correct location for the Mail folder, open a Finder window, click on the icon of a house in the Sidebar (this is known often as "Home"), click on Library in that Home user directory, and then to open the Mail folder found there.

Converting .doc file to PDF using Word 2008 - does not convert as is..

I am trying to convert a .doc file (Word 2008) to a PDF file. I have tried using the save as function and the print function. Both will work however everytime 2 things happen:
1. The PDF file splits into 2 files (the document is 20 pages long)
2. In one area of text, two words are overlapped (in the PDF version) but are not overlapped in the .doc version.
How do I convert the .doc to a PDF with out these two items occuring?

I do not think this is an app but rather a function of MS-Word, the very function that does not work with high fidelity on Mac. Any document of substance (greater than 10,000 words, imbedded images, figures, tables, or high formatting) will not convert accurately to PDF on Macbook Pro.
Using newest MS Office with updated service pacs, and experienced users. This is a puzzling incompetency on the Apple team's side. And there have been no fixes. One could argue this is a MS problem since the software is theirs. Probably true, but the problem occurs on Mac platforms, not PC platforms. Apple can drive improvements. Not sure Apple customers can.

Using Windings as font, does not display the symbols

In a text box, I select any font and will display that font. If I select windigs font, It displays abcdef not the characters.
Any suggestions?

If you are using a dynamic textfield, embed the font.

The webpage (absa.co.za - internet banking) does not display completely, data is omitted on the left hand side. Works fine in IE.

Since it is a secure site, I cannot copy the page to the desktop for you to view.
There is a column of choices on the left hand of the screen that is not visible on this notebook (LG ES30) which is a week old. The page works fine on this machine in IE 9 and on my old Acer 7520, and has done so for years.
I think it is a question of resizing, but I cannot find any way to do this.

I have a Web application in VS 2010 (NET 4.0) running reports in VS 2003 (NET 1.1) and CR XI. What should I consider for the reports to run well? When setting up the basics of the folder where the reports are in IIS 7.5, item I keep in the Application Pool: NET 1.1, but when in the same IIS server I click on Browse *: 80, I generated the following error: HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error

Reports are made in VS 2003 (. NET 1.1) and CR XI using a framework. This framework is placed in the web server (Windows 2008 Server R2) and called from VS 2010.
Sorry, I'm still having problem understanding this.
Only CRVS2010 will work with VS2010. The reports can be created in any version of CR you want, but to load the reports in VS2010, you need CRVS2010, create a project in VS2010, then deploy the project and the CRVS2010 runtime(?).
E.g.;
1) Create report using CR XI
2) Install CRVS2010 on a computer that has VS2010
3) Create a project using CRVS2010 in VS 2010 - can use any framework you want
4) Deploy VS2010 project
5) Install CRVS2010 runtime

I had IM translator working for few years.Lately it does not open up.Instead a blank maximum page of Mozilla appears.
I tried to delete the translator and reintroduce it.It does not work.Also the mail from one web site does not open.
All this started after I up dated Skype
Please help and guide me.

You appear to have the latest version 7.1 of imtranslator. Maybe one of your other plugins or extensions is interfering. Or maybe you have some security related software that is blocking imtranslator.
Try creating and using a new Firefox profile. In the new profile: remove all extensions other than imtranslator, use only the default theme, and disable all plugins. Will imtranslator work in the new profile ?

Captivate 7- The Closed Captioning does not display on the screen

I am using Captivate 7 and I am concerned about the issue that the Closed Captioning, which is placed on the flash page and is supposed to display the introduction of our product with the caption, does not show up on the screen. It is confusing that the text of Closed Captioning shows normally on some of the computers in our company but fails to display on the others, no matter on IE 8 or 10. Due to the company policy and the product nature I won’t be able to make a snapshot. We have spent some time on this problem but failed to fix it. I am desperately looking forward to some solutions here. Thanks for any suggestion.

Try clearing out your project cache (Preferences > General > Clear Cache) then republish using the option to Force Republish All Slides.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, you may be seeing the early stages of project file corruption. Check the suggestions in this post about troubleshooting issues where you may need to copy all slides to a new blank project shell to try and strip out corruption:

A pdf file is converted to word. Then the word file does not take normal word formatting. Why?

Having trouble making the converted pdf to word file work properly under word commands and formatting that have worked for me
well in the past.

If you're seeing some jumpy text, or having trouble clicking in where you want, it could be a font issue that's cauing problems.
Try choosing Edit > Select All, then Edit > Copy. Paste the entire contents into either a new Notepad file. Then repeat the same steps from within Notepad and paste the text into a new Word document.

I open the first pdf and can read it. If I open a second pdf, the second one does not appear.

Moving the cursor over the first pdf begins painting the second pdf in small blocks. I'm running XP with all the latest MS updates. I've also run the latest updates for Adobe Reader and checked the Adobe Add-ins are in IE 8.0. This same issue occurs, running Adobe Pro. No errors are logged in the Event Log. Any idea where to start looking?

Quit Safari.
Open the Library folder in your home folder as follows:
☞ If running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar.
☞ If running an older version of Mac OS X, select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar and enter “~/Library” (without the quotes) in the text box that opens.
Delete the following items from the Library folder:
Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
Preferences/QuickTime Preferences
Relaunch Safari and test.

Font does not display correctly...

When setting my default language to 'Vietnamese', I cannot get Google and Gmail pages to load up correctly; boxes appear where the font is unknown. I have tested this on the latest Safari, OmniWeb, Firefox and on 2 other iMacs both running Tiger with no avail. To test this yourself without causing anything permanent to your system, visit google.com and change default language to Vietnamese under language settings (there's a link at the bottom to revert back to english). There will be one or two characters at the bottom of the page with boxes instead of letters. This effect is worsened when you visit Gmail in Vietnamese. I've tried installing different fonts and changing up the encoding, but nothing has worked so far. Can someone shed some light on this, or even better yet, can someone just tell me how to fix it? I've spent over a week on this issue and cannot figure it out. PLEASE HELP!!!

I forgot to add that Vietnamese seems to appear correctly on all other webpages on the internet, just doesn't seem to work right on Google pages... This wouldn't be that big of an issue, but I just got my dad a Mac and he can only read and write in Vietnamese, and of course I had to get him a gmail account when we were showing him how to email on a PC... Now I'm trying to get him accustomed to using a Mac and his email doesn't work correctly...

Create PDF Acrobat X Pro - does not display embedded excel 2010 tables in word 2010 properly

I bought Acrobat X Pro and the first document I used 'Create PDF' on was a Word 2010 document with embedded (read linked) Excel 2010 tables.
When I opened the document after creating it the linked tables had a little arrow in the corner of a white box with a help text message of "click here to activate". The pdf is basically unusable.
Is there a setting to ensure that these embedded excel tables are created as normal tables - I do not want to have to keep pasting in tables/images into my Word documents when they are all updating automatically.

i am having exactly the same issue with Acrobat X Pro - with linked Excel 2010 tables in Word 2010.
Has there been a resolution to this eissue - it is potentially very time consuming to work around this issue for me.

ITunes 11.0.1 on Windows XP SP3 32-bit Cannot see text (font does not display)

I have installed the latest version of iTunes on my home PC with Windows XP SP3 (Service Pack 3) 32-bit Home Edition.
I cannot read the text on many iTunes screens/pages due to the font not showing at all.
I have also tried to install the Segoe UI true-type font (and its variant such as bold, italic, etc.) but the problem remains.

I have eventually managed to resolve my issue by:
1) Installing "Segoe UI" fonts in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder.
2) Changing my default colour profile to "sRGB Color Space Profile".
Navigate to My Computer > Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > Color Management.
Click Add button and select sRGB Color Space Profile.icm from the Add Profile Association pop-up window.
Select sRGB Color Space Profile.
Click on the Set as Default button.
Click on Apply, OK, OK.

In the older version of Firefox I could "view source" but the new version does not display it. What happened to it and where can I find it now?

The new version of Firefox "View" tab only shows Toolbars, Sidebar, Zoom, Page Style, Character Encoding and Full Screen. Where can I find "source" in the new version?

HP VirtualRooms seem to connect but the room content does not display.

When initially connecting to the HP Virtual Rooms system: http://rooms.hp.com, all looks well and I can enter a conference/meeting key and after hitting the 'go' button and I am greeted with a 'Thank you for joining us message'... but there is no actual connection to the HP virtual room conference and the room display (java based) never appears. The system just sits there waiting for something that will never appear....
I've checked this logging into the same conference using FF 3.6, which works just fine btw, and the room appears normal and expected... but I do not see my other login via the FF 4.ob7 connection (you would see both if they were both actually connected)--the 4.0b7 window says its connected but there is no conference display and no activity.
This seems to be a plugin problem on the HP side--IMHO--but I reckon you have more clout with HP than I might have. Any chance you can get them to fix this so I don't have to run two browsers to attend their meetings?
