Convert  Album to Slideshow

I created an Album with photos and matching music, but I realized I probably should have done this in SlideShow.  Can i convert an album to a "slideshow"  If so, how?

When you say you want to make an “album” do you mean a book?
One thing i want to do is to make a dvd of the pics that i can play on any regular dvd player. I want to show people my pics on their TV. I don't necessarily need a fancy slideshow. I would like to be able to pause on a picture.
Share -> Send to iDVD and make the disk with iDVD. You must do this with iDVD that’s the only app that can create a disk your “regular DVD player” will undersand.

  • How to move iphoto albums or slideshows from one computer to another

    I have iphoto running both on my desktop ('08 = 7.1.5) and on my laptop ('09 = 8.1.2). The libraries contain a lot of the same images but they are not identical (and I don't want them to be). I create albums or slideshows or books on each of my machines and would like to then transfer them to the other one for keeps - without replacing the albums etc. in that library. How do I do that?
    Sorry if this is a dumb question that's been dealt with many times. I couldn't easily find an answer.

    You can move albums and their photos between libraries but not books, slideshows, cards, etc. So you will have to recreate those items in the other library.
    If you are able to get the library with the books, etc. up to speed as far as having all of the photos from the other library you can then copy that full library to the other computer so you will have the book and other keepsakes in both libraries.
    I suggest to create a separate library for the book and copy it between Macs as needed. It will be small enough to make the copying process quicker. You can add additional photos to the book library as needed from either of your other libraries.
    This tutorial may be of some help if you decide to go that route: Old Toad's Tutorial #9a - Archiving an iPhoto 7(08)/8(09) Book for Editing and/or Ordering at a Later Date.
    OT
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    NOTE: this is not the same as routinely backing up your entire iPhoto library folder to protect your photos. It only protects the loss of your organizational efforts that the database file contains.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

    No, I have not chosen photos to share as I assumed that the Apple TV would access all photos and music that are stored on my iMac.
    Thanks for your advice. I will check it out.

  • Connecting multiple album or slideshows in IPhoto 6

    I am putting together a large slideshow. In order to organize it better, I've made a number of smaller albums containing parts of the show. Is there any way to link these albums (or slideshows made from them) into one large slideshow that would then show continuously? Or do I have to manually make one very large album, and then make the show? I tried Automator and it didn't seem to do the trick. Making a movie ruined the resolution.

    There is no way to join Slideshows. What might work is to export them as QuickTIme Movies (File -> Export) and then join the movies using Quicktime Pro.
    Other than that you'll need one big album.

    My albums and slideshows disappeared from the left column when I ejected a Canon camera after a download.  My version of iPhoto '08 (V7.1.5(378)) had just crashed when I first connected the Canon camera to download.  I restarted iPhoto.....successfully downloaded 22 photos, and ejected Canon camera, upon which albums & slideshows highlighted blue and disappeared from the left column.  The photos still seem to be under the EVENTS and PHOTOS in the LIBRARY.  Any thoughts?

    Restore from your back up.

  • Album vs Slideshow vs Smart Album

    Hi,
    I tried to change the order in a Smart Album, but with no luck.
    Why can't you change the order in a Smart Album?
    To me, slideshows and Albums are roughly the same. Ok, a slideshow can be altered much more for visual presentation. However the basics are the same, in both you can change the order of the pictures.
    A Smart Album has the advantage of always showing ALL pictures applying to the Smart Album, however, now I want to change the order.
    I don't want to end up having to make a Smart Album to collect all the photo's (when I import new ones, I don't need to drag and drop them to applicable albums) and then making a seperate Album or Slideshow, so I can change the order.
    Anybody any advice on how to do this more efficient?
    thanks
    regards

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    Why can't you change the order in a Smart Album?
    You can. View Menu -> Sort Photos -> by keyword, by date, by title, ascending or descending
    You cannot sort them manually, that's a characteristic of any Smart Item.

  • Storing and converting videos and slideshows (Mac OS)

    hi all, new user here.
    i have a host of files with some coming from my PC days and am currently using Aperture to store and create m4v and mov files.
    right now i have AVI, mpg, mp4, PDF etcetera etcetera that i am trying to organize. when i doubleclick on some of these files they open in AME and i am guessing this means that i need to associate the file type with some other software or if i should convert them to a more convenient format such as mov or m4v which Aperture recognizes. so right now these files are just sitting in a file folder in various formats since Aperture does not appear very good at recognizing some of these video formats.
    i would like to /store/ this data in a database or in software that will allow me to get it all organized and i am wondering if Bridge is a good place to do this or if user recommend LR or if there is in fact an adobe product to get this data organized.
    i think ideally i would put all images and slideshows and videos in one place but i am guessing this means i would have to convert my videos to some file format (say mov or m4v for Aperture) so i am also wondering if this is a good way to go and if Adobe Media Encoder is the proper tool for this.
    any sage advice is really welcome.
    P.S. i also have PDF and EPS which both don't seem to play nice with aperture.

    Although there sometimes are problems with certain video files Bridge is the correct application to start for organizing your files. You can use the filter panel to only show certain file types, you can rename, rate and label the files, etc etc.
    Some video files should be able to play in the preview window. It pays multiple pages PDF also in the preview window although there can be problems with PDF from InDesign showing all content.
    You can use the folder panel for easy drag and drop files in different folders.
    Anyway, before experimenting make sure to have a proper back up of your files and then start playing around freely to learn more about Bridge.

  • Convert ALBUM to PROJECT?

    Not sure if this is a no-brainer or not, but can't seem to fugure it out.
    I've be re-organizinzing my library and have old ALBUMS I'd like to "convert" into PROJECTS. Is this possible?
    I've created new PROJECTS and dragged the files into the new projects, but as I look closer, I believe I'm making alot of duplications of masters! My libray has grown alot since I started reorganize. Ouch! I still haven't gotten my head around what truly is a MASTER.
    On that note... Is there a way to EXPORT ALL masters to an external drive, so I can possibly re-import and start again? Or is there a delete duplicate button. Looked for it in the manual, I may be missing something.
    Thanks.

    I've created new PROJECTS and dragged the files into
    the new projects, but as I look closer, I believe I'm
    making alot of duplications of masters!
    Dragging thumbs into a new project should just move them into that project, not copy them.
    I still haven't gotten my head around what truly is a MASTER.
    A 'master' is the file on disk. Period! A version is a window onto that master. Imagine a ship with portholes. Inside is an object. As you move from porthole to porthole, your view of the object changes, but the object never changes. You can put coloured glass over the porthole or blur it with grease, but the object doesn't change. Versions can be changed. Masters never change.
    If you have two thumbs and they both share the same master on disk, neither of those is the master. They are both versions. If you have only one version, it is still not a master; it's a single version of the master. The file on disk is the master and nothing else. Each thumb or image you deal with is simply a window onto that master. When you delete the last remaining version, Aperture will delete the master.
    There can be only one master. If you create a new version from a master, you now have two versions and still one master.
    On that note... Is there a way to EXPORT ALL masters
    to an external drive, so I can possibly re-import and
    start again? Or is there a delete duplicate button.
    Looked for it in the manual, I may be missing
    something.
    At the top of the project pane under 'Library', select the entry: 'All Images'.
    Above the grid view on the right, make sure the filter is also set to 'All Images'.
    Click on one of the images to select it.
    On your keyboard, select CTRL+A to select all images in your Aperture library.
    CTRL+click on any of the images and select: export->export masters.

  • Convert Album to Event

    Simple question. How do you convert an album in to an Event?

    iPhoto 07 converts Rolls into Events, not albums.
    To convert an album then select all the photos in the album, flag them and go Events -> Create Event from Flagged Photos.
    Remember, Events are essentially the Rolls feature from v6, a pic can only be in one Event, though many Albums.

  • Am I crazy?  Creating new album from slideshow

    It seems a bit strange, but i cannot figure out how to take an existing slideshow and create a new album from it. One of the more powerful features of the newer iPhoto is to take an existing album and quickly view full screen slideshow (including image file names), and to remove images from this mode.
    I can't fathom then not being able to create a new album from that newly created slideshow. I must be wrong about this. Please, tell me that I'm wrong and that there's a simple way to do it...

    Hi chris, there is no "create new album from selection" when you have a permanent slideshow. Others have asked and it might be a good feedback for iPhoto.
    As a workaround you can select all and go to Photos/My rating and give them 1 star, or two or whatever. Then make a smart album whose "rating" is "whatever star/stars you chose. Now you can select all in the smart album and create an album from that selection.
    In the future, start off with "on the fly" slideshows. Add and/or subtract the images to make it just right. When you are happy with the slideshow, then make it into a permanent slideshow. Now you will have the album and the permanent slideshow from that album.

  • Converting "book" to "slideshow"

    I've created a book (some of the pages have multiple photos) and would like to create a slideshow (to ultimately be burned via iDvd) that would show each of the pictures individually. Unfortunately I can't even seem to figure out how to create the slideshow from the book. When I click on the "+" the only choices are "album" and "smart album" as the "slideshow" option is greyed out. Is it possible to do what I want?
    I'm using iPhoto 6.01
    Thx

    Hi scott,
    This is from the iPhoto Help menu:
    "Viewing a book as a slideshow
    You can view a book as a slideshow without making it a separate slideshow in your Source list. You can set transition effects and add background music for this temporary slideshow.
    Tip: If you want to play the same slideshow later, adjust the transition effects for individual slides, or add pan and zoom effects, you should create a slideshow that appears in your Source list.
    To view a book as a slideshow:
    Select a book you want to display as a slideshow.
    Click the Play button (shown above). If you don't see the Play button, click the right-pointing arrows (shown below) in the bottom-right section of the window and choose Play from the menu that appears.
    Click Settings at the top of the Slideshow dialog to set one or more of the following options:
    Choose a transition effect from the Transition pop-up menu. If necessary, set a direction for the effect using the arrow buttons.
    Set the duration of the transition by dragging the Speed slider.
    To change the display duration for each slide, type a new duration.
    Select "Shuffle slide order" to play slides in random order.
    Select "Repeat slideshow" to make your slideshow repeat automatically upon completion.
    Click Music at the top of the Slideshow dialog to set one or more of the following options:
    Select the "Play music during slideshow" checkbox if you want background music played during your slideshow.
    Select a song to play during your slideshow from the Sample Music folder or your iTunes library. You can search for a song by typing the artist or title in the search field.
    Click Save Settings if you want to save these slideshow settings for your book slideshow.
    Click Play.
    Press the mouse button at any time to stop a slideshow.
    Press the Space bar to pause and resume playing a slideshow.
    Use the Right and Left Arrow keys to move through a slideshow manually.
    Press Delete to remove the photo currently being displayed from the book.
    Press Command-R to rotate the photo currently being displayed in your slideshow.
    Press 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 to assign a rating to the photo currently being displayed."

  • Converting Album Catalogs to Elements 11 Catalogs

    I am having difficulty converting my old Photoshop Album Catalogs (file extension .psa) to Elements 11.
    Using "Manage Catalogs" from the file tab and then "Convert".  I get the convert catalog screen.  Using "find catalogs"  I can browse to the folder where the .psa Catalogs are but the window does not list them as choices for converting.
    I have seen this question many times in the forum but none of the proposed solutions have worked for me.
    This is especially annoying as one time (and only one time) it did list them and I was able to succesfully convert some of them but I can't recreate this for the remaining catalogs.
    I don't remember doing anyting different the one time it worked.

    Thanks for trying to help, unfortunately it does not work.
    I have 4 catalogs.  Ticking the checkbox "show previously converted catalogs" lists the 3 that were succesfully converted, but not the 4th that has yet to be converted.
    I tried tricking it by moving one converted catalog to another folder and renaming the unconverted catalog to the same name.
    As expected this did not work, but it was worth a try.
    The unconverted catalog is larger than than the others because it is my main one, but not that much larger than one of those successfully converted. (27kb vs 19kb).  I don't think the size matters as it doesn't even list the catalog in the select window.
    Any other ideas would be appreciated as Adobe chat was unwilling to help, claiming that "Album" was too old to support.
    My opinion is that I needed support to get the brand new "Elements 11" to work properly not "Album", but they disagreed.
    As I mentioned before, the real frustration stems from the fact that based on personal experience, I KNOW "Elements 11" can do this, I just don't know how.
    The trusty old computer with "Album" died and the new one won't run it. I need some way of saving all the info previously entered.
    Thanks for any help,

  • Create Photo Album or Slideshow

    Hi all,
    Several years ago I found a tool in an older dreamweaver or somewhere in cs4 or 5 - to easily create a page filled with thubnails and when you clicked on one it would open the larger version (Photo Album)...
    I can't seem to recall how I did this ... do they still have something like this for cs 5 or cs 6?

    Hi revdave,
    you will find some of them here:

  • Convert gallery to slideshow

    Hi
    I've got a user-controlled gallery on a webpage which is
    working fine at the moment:
    Aztec site
    The client now wants it to be a slideshow however. Rather
    than start from scratch, is there any way to keep it as it is, but
    make it act as if the user is clicking on each thumbnail every 10
    seconds or so. I'd be hiding the thumbnails.
    In effect, I want to convert it from an interactive gallery
    to a passive slideshow, but keep the scrolling effect.
    Here's the flash file:
    link
    And here's the ActionScript:
    this.createEmptyMovieClip("images", 100);
    this.attachMovie("mask", "mask", 101);
    mask._x = images._x =5;
    mask._y = target = 5;
    images.setMask(mask);
    images._y = -1000;
    speed = 5;
    for (var i = 0; i<8; i++) {
    var img = images.attachMovie("image"+i, "image"+i, i);
    img._y = img._height*i;
    var thumb = this["thumb"+i];
    thumb._alpha = 60;
    thumb.pos = target+(i*-img._height);
    thumb.onPress = function() {
    target = this.pos;
    thumb.onRollOver = function() {
    this._alpha = 100;
    thumb.onRollOut = function() {
    this._alpha = 60;
    this.onEnterFrame = function() {
    images._y += (target-images._y)/speed;

    place your thumb.pos values in an array and initialize a
    timer (setInterval) that will reassign target to be one of the
    array values peroidically.
