Convert an Offline File (.ost) to a Personal File (.pst)

MS® Outlook is used to work offline when Exchange Server does not work properly. In such situation Outlook stores all data in OST files. So how can i convert OST to PST file.......................

Hi Ninasi,
OST files are created Cached Exchange Mode. These files store crucial data of users so it becomes very important to recover data from such files. Conversion of OST files to PST also help in situations when you have bundles of OST files and you are in the
need to convert them to PST.
Being a Server Administrator, I have used plenty of such tools. One of the most advantageous utility that I would like to suggest you is
Free Microsoft OST Converter Software.  You can get this tool on any version of Windows operating system. Get more information about this tool by going to the following link:-

  • Convert client Outlook 2007 .ost to Outlook 2007 .pst

I apologize up front as I know through reading and general experience that this problem has probably been asked every which way a million times. I have looked through the Exchange General faq2 listing and did not find it defined as such however.
My immediate need issue is this, I have a small network of five clients with Office 2007 on a new SBS2008 server domain.
Unfortunately Three months elapsed between the time service contract was signed and original installation. While setting up server backup for first time, problems with original install were noted and then backup trashed the data storage drive while initializing for first time. Great fun ensued and to the point, the server crashed  and was reloaded and reinstalled onsite. The data on the storage drive was reinstalled from a recovery software USB drive.
The core issue in short is that clients HW/general software did not change, but server/ domain/ client ID'/ client profiles/ exchange server ect... did.
Now all clients have been rejoined to the "New" server and all is well, past that point including the darned 2008 backup. But I have a severe problem of having on each client computer three months of outlook 2007 offline mail items on a ghost profile I can not access due to it being on a ghost domain. It's all there as it was the day the server crashed, but totally inaccessible to my knowledge.
The exchange server does not see the mail as it never received it,  so any of the known to me Microsoft outlook .pst/ost repair tools would not work as their is nothing to fix as far as they would know from the exchange servers poiont of view.
I need something to go in and convert the old Outlook Offline .ost files to .pst files so they can be read by the current profiles outlook installation and the individual mail items, calendars, ect… simply migrated over to the new profiles offline file.
I have complete access to the files needing conversion and can take ownership but lack any working tool to convert the .ost files to something readable to the current Outlook / Exchange profiles.
There is tonnage of software to do this. But it costs an arm and a leg and i am just trying to see if their is another Microsoft way of doing this.
P.S. if not, their needs to be! Orphaned .ost files happen a lot for a lot of reasons.

Google OST2PST.  Maybe it'll work for you.

  • E61 - PC Suite - Offline File - Sync issues

    Hi there,
I wonder if anyone can help please
I've seen another post similar to this, and I've tried the suggestions, but I still have the problems.....
    Phone: E61
Phone Software number: (I forget, but Nokia updater said it was the latest version)
    PC Suite Version: 6.83.14.1
    OS: Win 2000
    OS Service Pack: 4
    Connection: USB
    Email Client: Outlook 2002
    Office Client: MS Office 2000
    Sync Settings: Update Both Ways
Conflict Settings: err.... Phone wins I think
Synced Items: Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Tasks. No email is synced.
    OK, whats happening is this...
When my user connects his phone to the laptop, he gets 3 messages pop up, saying "Your offline folder file could not be configured. C:\Outlook\Outlook.ost"
He clicks OK on each and they go away and all SEEMS to be OK
Then when he looks in his contacts, he has a new seemingly blank contact.
When you open that contact, all the personal details are blank, but in the notes box at the bottom of the General tab, it has a load of info about using Contacts. Not sure if this is from the E61 or from Outlook
Also, my user may edit or delete an appointment or contact from the phone, and when he gets back to the laptop and syncs, the edited/deleted item will reappear as normal on the phone.
Similarly his PA may edit or delete something from his account (PA has delegate access to Outlook) and when the user syncs, the edited/deleted item in Outlook is restored.
He has had issues in the past with the phone, in that for no reason it stopped syncing.
An update to the latest version of PC Suite always sorts that.
Also he has recently had his phone replaced as his originally wouldnt power off properly.
It has had isses before and after the phone was changed.
    What I've Tried
Uninstalled and reinstalled PC Suite, the latest version (6.83.14.1) was already on it, but I downloaded a fresh version anyway and reinstalled - No Good
Downloaded and installed Nokia Updater. Checked the software on the phone, and that was the latest version too.
I guess I could set the CONFLICT settings to Always Ask if there are confllicts, but my user assures me that he rarely (if ever) on his phone edits the same item as his PA does on the laptop (well not actually ON my users laptop, but via his Delegate Access)
Do you think this may be because my user has given delegate access to someone else?
We have about 5 of these devices in the company, and this is the ONLY one to have any problems.
As far as I'm aware, none of the other users have given PA's Delegate Access
Not really sure what else to try
Any help and suggestions will be very gratefully received
    Many thanks
    Steve

    Hi Miksu,
    I tried the following....
a new contacts folder, no good
    a new calendar, no good
a new outlook profile, no good
wiped all the phone info (contacts etc) and resynced afresh from laptop, no good
I'm still getting the same issues...
    1. Random appointments that have been edited, moved, deleted, reappear in their original form
    2. "Offline folder file could not be configured" even though when I recreated users profile I created a new file, and also my user is a local admin.
Each time the phone tries to sync this message pops up 3 times, you click OK each time and then it continues
I've also ensured that everyone has full control to the folder containing the offline file, and also shared it out, just incase PC Suite is having trouble with permissions.
One thing I did notice is, that any appt created on the phone is defaulted to a Private Sync, whereas all created on the users laptop and his PA's PC are Public Sync
Havent yet managed to make a connection between Private and Public synced items but maybe this is my problem
I've also set the phone to sync every 15 minutes whilst connected, as thought maybe the info is old by the time the user disconnects and goes offline.
Also, PC Suite is set to Sync in Both Directions. THis is needed as my User does add stuff that he needs syncing to his Outlook profile.
Does anyone think that having a user creating/editing etc on the phone, and also on his laptop, and also a PA editing as a delegate via the PA's own PC is freaking out the phone/PC Suite... too many cooks and all that?
    Cheers

  • I have converted a pdf file but it has been saved as a jpg, how do I save it as a word doc?

I have converted a pdf file but it downloaded as  a jpg not a word doc, how do I save it as a word doc?

    Hi moi person,
Please provide us more information about the product you are using.
Also let us know your workflow how did you already tried to convert the PDF document into a word document.

  • Better library management & offline files

Having recently converted from Aperture (mostly on account of more fluid editing, more intuitive brushes [I can go into detail if desired], and IMHO better image quality for my main camera), I do miss one aspect of Aperture's file management: the fact that the hierarchy of "projects" and folders that I see within the program can (though need not) be decoupled from the physical file organization.  This means I can start a library with, e.g., all photos arranged in folders according to date, and all on my local disk initially.  I can then select an arbitrary subset of the files (e.g., as the result of a search) and "relocate" those files off my local disk and onto a server.  The key here is that in the hierarchy that I have created inside Aperture (and hopefully one day Lightroom), the photos still appear in the same place as before I relocated them!  (There's just an optional badge in the right corner telling me that the photo is "referenced"; this also similarly indicates when a photo is currently offline.)
In Lightroom, the only way I have managed to simulate something vaguely equivalent is to have two hierarchies, one on the local disk and one on the server.  So I might have a folder ONLINE/2010/august/19 which I could then move (in toto) to SERVER/2010/august/19.  But for one, unless I remember which photos have moved offline, I now have to look in two different places in my hierarchy.  Moreover, it only really makes sense for entire folders; moving individual photos seems like a recipe for massive confusion.  Ugh.
Note that I am not suggesting that Lightroom store files in a proprietary folder hierarchy ("managed" in Aperture parlance), but I really do like the ability to have the physical location distinct from the "logical" organization I have created within the program. This is just an additional level of indirection internal to the database, and oughtn't be that hard to implement --- and compared to Lightroom's current approach, it is way more flexible when it comes to managing large libraries IMHO.
Oh, and incidentally, if a photo has gone offline, Aperture indicates that fact via a discreet little icon (which can be turned off).  Lightroom insists on splashing "This file is offline" all across the preview.  It's a useful message, to be sure, but if I just want to show someone the previews of some pics that happen to be offline, I'd like to be able to turn that message off so I can see the entire picture.
Anyway, add the ability to "relocate" without changing the "virtual" hierarchy of folders, and let me turn off that annoying message for offline files, and I'll be in heaven.  And major kudos on the improvements in image quality in Lightroom 3!

Use collections. They are the equivalent of your projects and albums.

  • Offline file availability

I just bought a macbook pro which i will be using in a windows environment at work. We are running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 which is not supported by Snow Leopard. I currently keep all my files on the server in a personal account which only I have access to. On my old laptop (PC), I used to tick certain folders for availability offline. This meant that without an internet connection I could still access these files, edit them, and when I next went to the office these would automatically update the server files with these changes. I have not yet been able to find out how I can do this on my macbook. I am planning on running bootcamp with windows 7 whilst in the office, however, some of my personal stuff will primarilly be accessed from the mac osx platform while I am at home. I may however also want to access these files at work while working in windows, make changes and have these changes be saved to the same location as the fils I will access and edit in mac osx. The reason I keep everything backed up on the work server is for security (online back up), and because I own the company, and keep the files in a folder only accessible by myself so there is no issue with privacy. I recognise that the administrator could access these files but there is nothing there I would be concerned about.
I want to avoid having a personal folder on my mac hard drive and a copy on my windows hard drive with both just synching with the server when connected to it. I am concerned with two copies this will just eats space. Any ideas?

    Hi,
There isn't an Offline Files service in 2008 R2. You may need to install Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 Driver for Windows Vista (64-bit).

  • 2008 R2/ Win7 Offline Files Sync causing High Load on server

    Hi Everyone,
I have recently been investigating extremely high CPU Usage from the System Process on my company's main File Cluster.
We managed to track SRV2.sys Threads causing high CPU load within the system process, but was having issues identifying why this was the case.
As per Microsoft's direction via support call, we have installed the latest SRV2.sys Hotfixes, but this does not appear to have allivated the issue we are experiencing. We have also added more CPU and Memory into both nodes, which has not helped either.
We have since managed to create a system dump and is being sent to MS Support for analysis.
I have noticed the following that appears to happen on our cluster:
Whenever our CAD/Design department run certain functions within their apps running on a windows 7 client (apps include MicroStation, Revit, AutoCAD etc) we see a massive spike and flatline of the system process.
We found several users with Windows 7 clients that have Configured Offline File to sync an entire Network Volume (some volumes are 2TB Plus, so would never fit on a users computer anyway, i was quite shocked when I found this). How we spotted this was through
Resource Monitor, the System Process was trolling through all the folders and files in a given volume (it was "reading every single folder). Now, while this was the system process, we could identify the user by using the Open Files view in Server Manager's
    Share and Storage Management tool.
I have done a fair bit of research and found that a lot of CAD/Drawing applications in the market have issues with using SMB2 (srv2.sys). When reviewing the products that we use, I noticed that a lot of these products actually recommended disabling SMB2
and reverting to SMB1 on File Server and/or the clients.
I have gone down the path of disabling SMB2 on all Windows 7 clients that have these CAD Applications installed to assist with lowering the load (our other options are to potentially shift the CAD Volumes off our main file cluster to further isolation these
performance issues we have been experiencing.) We will be testing this again tomorrow to confirm that the issue is resolved when mass amounts of CAD users access data on these volumes via their CAD Application.
We only noticed the issue with Offline Files today with trying to sync an ENTIRE Volume. My questions are:
Should Offline File sync's really cause this much load on a File Server?
Would the the size of the volume the sync is trying to complete create this additional load within the system process?
What is the industry considered "Best Practice" regarding Offline Files setup for Volumes which could have up to 1000+ users attached? (My personal opinion is that Offline Files should only be sync of user "Personal/Home" Folders
as they users themselves have a 1 to 1 relationship with this data.)
Is there an easier way to identify what users have Offline Files enabled and "actually being used" (from my understanding, Sync Center and Offline Files are enabled by default, but you obviously have to add the folders/drives you wish to sync)?
If I disable the ability for Offline Files on the volumes, what will the user experience be when/if they try to sync their offline files config after this has been disabled on the volume?
Hoping for some guidance regarding this setup with Offline Files.
    Thanks in Advance!
    Simon

    Hi Everyone,
Just thought I would give an update on this.
While we're still deploying http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2733363/en-us to
the remainder of our Windows 7 SP1 fleet, according to some Network Traces and XPerf that were sent to MS Support, it looks as though the issu with the Offline Files is now resolved.
However, we are still having some issues with High CPU with the System Process in particular. Upon review of the traces, they have found a lot of ABE related traffic, leading them to believe that the issue may also be caused by ABE Access on our File Cluster.
We already have the required hotfix for ABE on 2008 R2 installed (please see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2732618/en-us), although we have it set to a certain value that MS believe may be too high. Our current value is set to "5", as that is the lowest level of any type of permission is set (i.e. where the lowest level of inheritance
    is broken).
I think I will mark this as resolved regarding the Offline Files issue (as it did resolve the problem with the Offline Files)...
Fingers crossed we can identify the rest of the high load within the System Process!!!

  • Folder redirection with Offline files enabled - Can I change the location of the locally cached files?

I have a 2012 r2 server setup with folder redirection and offline files enabled. All this works perfectly.
As you probably know, the local cache for offline files is stored at c:\windows\csc\v2.0.6\namespace\servername\
The problem I have run into is that one user (who cannot be told to delete files cough ceo cough) has a very large documents folder, and a small SSD drive for his C drive. So the offline files are filling up his SSD. He wants all his files to be synced,
so decreasing the max disk usage is also not an option.
What I would like to do is move the Offline files to his D drive which is a large drive, however I have been unable to find any official method for doing this. Is there any provision to change this?
If not, would it work to move the entire \servername\ path to the d drive and then create a junction at c:\windows\csc\v2.0.6\namespace\servername\ that points to d:\servername\?
    Thanks,
    Travis

    Hi,
The following article is for Windows Vista but it should work at least in Windows 7.
How to change the location of the CSC folder by configuring the CacheLocation registry value in Windows Vista
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937475
Meanwhile creating a symbolic link should also work like:
    mklink /d "C:\Windows\CSC" "D:\CSC"
Note: It will create d:\csc folder so you do not need to manually create it.
Note 2: As mentioned above, you may need to re-sync the offline files. Personally I also think robocopy will not work.

  • Problem with Offline Files with Cisco NSS322 (firmware 1.3)

    Hi
We've recently bought a new NSS322 NAS box to replace an ageing Windows SBS 2003 file server. We've upgraded the firmware to 1.3, and begun moving files across from the Windows server to the new NAS box. However, we're having a problem with Offline Files on the NAS, as attempting to make directories available offline on Windows clients (only tried Vista Business 32-bit so far) we get loads of errors stating that these files cannot be made available offline "because they are in use" (or something like that).
Any suggestions as to why this might be? It doesn't appear to affect all files, but most of them.
I've read somewhere that the "allow oplocks" setting can affect this if disabled, but it is already enabled on the device, so this can't be the cause of the problem.
Any help you could provide would be much appreciated, as at the moment this issue is rendering our NAS unusable as we rely heavily on the offline files functionality.
    Thanks in advance.
I have some more information - this appears to be related to the ownership permissions of the files on the NAS. New files created on the NAS can be made available offline, and have the ownership of the person who created the file, however, the files we moved across from the server are all listed as being owned by the user "guest" (I think this may be related to the fact that when we moved the files over, the user was logged in as "admin" rather than a user on the AD Domain). I should be able to resolve this through changing the owner of the files on the NAS, but I can't seem to do this, as I get an "access denied" error each time I try to change ownership.

Is there any chance someone's going to be able to help me with this? I've currently spent £500 on a box that I can't use. If it can't handle Offline Files satisfactorily, it's no use to us.
I've been looking at this a bit more - if appears that each user can make files they have created available offline, but files created by other people cannot - the error message that appears is: "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process".
I'm getting desperate here...can anyone help?

Sorry, but I don1 speak very good english..
I was Try this quick test: As a quick test, you can do a forward all and make sure you can get into the ftp server.
but result it is to same.
I think, that problem is in firmware, becasue I know more people who own this router with to same firmware version (2.0.1.3), and have they to same problem how I.
I have DISABLED FIREWALL on my router and problem hold over.
If I replace router Cisco Linksys WRVS4400N by Ovislink router or any other, issue (problem) already no is.
Configuration in Cisco Linksys WRVS4400N and configurations in any other router is to same, but FTP connection via Cisco Lynksys always will crash.
If I connect to any other FTP server, sometimes requieres from me ftp login and password. It is OK, but if I assign login and password, after connect me to this FTP server, i see folders and files on this server, but without reason connecting fall down.
Few seconds later if I connect to the to same FTP server, sometime either not request login and password and connection fall down.

  • Web Premium CS4 and Offline Files Issue

My system: Multiple notebooks, laptops running Windows 7 Ultimate, all on a Microsoft Small Business Server 2008 network.
I have My Documents, My Pictures, and My videos folders rehomed to the server via group policy, and when I unplug from the network these folders are available to the disconnected laptop/pc via offline files (and the offline file cache).
My issue: When I install Web Premium CS4 on any machine, if my laptop/pc is disconnected from the network, the offline folders disappear, although the offline file management snap-in tab shows the cache is stored, and when I plug back in to the network, the folders will soon appear. When the folders are visible, the offline status shows "Always available offline".
When I uninstall CS4, the trouble does not get fixed, but a barebones install from a disk image prior to CS4 installation fixes the problem, making me think adobe somehow changes network/registry settings to accomodate their own cache, or maybe something to do with the Adobe Bridge (just guessing). This happens on both 64 bit and 32 bit versions of Win 7.
I have duplicated this issue on 3 different laptops, all with the same result. I opened a case with Adobe, but my case was immediately closed saying it was a Microsoft/network issue. In fact, I would guess the person who worked the case dismissed this out of hand, the case got closed so quickly.
Is there someone out there that has run into this issue?
    Thank you,
    Bob

Was this issue ever resolved? We are in the process of deploying design premium to around 1000 faculty members, and are experiencing the same issue. I wont know till the end of the day whether i can say 100% that its a CS 4 issue but im running a test on 3 laptops with slightly different configs.
All laptops are win7 enterprise, with folder redirection enabled, same symptoms are occuring.
As a test, i have been testing the offline files at different stages in the laptop bundle deployment to see where it starts to fail. I sync mydocs, undock laptop and then login to check offline files. I then wipe the CSC clean and move on to next step in deployment, and repeat check.
We are at the last step in deployment, adobe design premium CS4, and there have been no failures with offline files so far. After it finishes deploying ill report on my findings.
We have a ticket open with microsoft and  our sysadmin has been working with them for a few days to resolve the issue, and so far they have been baffled, escalating the ticket to a debug team. We have not yet mentioned that we suspect CS4 to be the issue, as they would probabily pass the buck and blame adobe, (similar to the OP saying adobe is blaming microsoft); we want them to fully investigate first.
    Sincerely,
    A Frustrated Team

  • Converting an XML file to a DAT pipe delimited file

    Hi
I'm trying to create an SSIS Package which converts an XML file into a dat file which is pipe delimited.
I want the package to be generic so that once that minimal modification is needed when using for different files.
I've so far had no luck with this and need some help/assistance.
    All help fully appreciated.
    Thank you
    Umar Javed

The XML file can vary from fixed to variable.
for Fixed, i've done the same thing as you've suggested and parametrized the flat file connection manager.
For The XML source is there any way we can parametrize the location of the XML or XSD files?
For Variable, unfortunately due to restrictions we can not create an intermediate table and then export.
    is there any other way?
    Thanks
    Umar Javed
XSD path can be made dynamic as below
    http://picnicerror.net/development/sql-server/define-xsd-file-for-ssis-xml-source-using-expression-2012-04-21/
For variable you can even add them to configurations and then pass them from a file using xml configuration option.

  • DNG Converter converts existing dng files to.....dng!

Today I decided to convert all of the raw files on one hard drive to dng format.   The dng converter has converted about 4,000 of a little over 15,000 raw files so far.  I scrolled through the conversion status list and noticed that the converter is also converting existing dng files into dng files thus creating a duplicate.  Why in the world would a person need, or want to , convert existing dng files to dng files?  I new that I already had some dng files on the hard drive, but I never would have imagined that the converter would include dng files in the list of raw files to convert to dng.
It is not a big deal to find and delete.  All I have to do is do a search for all files that end in _1.dng.  No biggie, but it seems redundant to me to waste time on this conversion.  Is there an option to choose not to convert dng files?  I can not look at the moment because the converter is converting dng files and is busy. LOL.

You still have not provided any documentation to back up your assertion that Adobe makes plain, or even unplain for that matter, that DNG files are going to be included in the conversion process.  I am not asking you to "slavishly go over a variety of documents in order to provide proof", you state as a matter of fact that the documentation exists. Your failure or inability to produce any proof can only be interpreted as meaning that it does not exist.  You are speaking about something that you apparently do not have a clue about.  You only seem to act like you know what you are talking about.   It is pointless to discuss this with you any longer.  I accept the fact that you are not going to be able to provide official Adobe documentation stating that DNG files are going to converted along with camera dependent raw files.  Apparently, you had no prior knowledge of this issue, because you did not share a reason in your post.  And, you still do not share documentation....because you do not have any!  FAIL!
As far as making contributions, just because I have only posted 14 times on this forum is not a clear indicator of my total contributions.  I am not going to get into a "I have made this many posts on this forum and that forum argument" with you.  It is pointless and childish.
And how were you trying to help me?  You were not.  You offered nothing.  Your comment only had one purpose: to make fun of another person and/or to incite a reaction.  You did that very well.  You need to be honest with yourself and think about what kind of contribution you were making in your original post.  You did not offer anything accept for a smartaleck answer.
As far as acknowledging the utility's ability to convert dng files to newer files, yes I knew that the converter could be used to update existing DNG files.  I did not imagine that it would convert an existing dng file and produce a duplicate.  Big difference!
And what is wrong with venting?  I expressed frustration with something that I found bothering.  Adobe would like for everyone to adopt this format.  One way of achieving that goal is for people to use the converter.  But, if people are not happy with the converter, then they may not convert, or recommend the use of the converter.  I use the converter, and I use camera raw to convert to dng as well as converting upon import.
You can not defend yourself on the issue of documentation to back up your claim apparently because it does not exist.
I apologize for referring to you as "Mr. Smartypants".  I can clearly see now that I was wrong for calling you that.
I know that I am guilty here of inserting my own emotion into your original response.  I have a 50% chance that I was correct in assuming that you were simply being humorous and not condescending.  Again, I should have ignored your post as it was completely worthless.  I apologize for that.
And, at the moment, I do not feel very smart for participating in this childish discussion with you.  I am much too old to be doing this.
