Convert ASO outline to BSO

I am building the outline in ASO using rules files and MAXL script...How can I convert this outline in BSO using the same rules files...or is there any other way to convert the outline to from ASO to BSO.... I need this for creating a ASO-BSO transparent partition where ASO is the data source and BSO is the target....
Thanks...

In your case.
1. Create a BSO application, and use the same rule files and scripts which you are using for ASO outline build.
2. Within the BSO application, validate whether the same rule files are correct .
3. Mostly ,they should work, else , the minimal changes might require to make them compatible with BSO nature.
4. Now that you have both BSO and ASO cube in place, make partitions.
You might face problems when you do the rule files in BSO ,then you can post them and get corrected.

  • Impacts on converting ASO cubes to BSO cubes

Usually people are trying to convert BSO to ASO. It's interesting to see this coming full circle with new users of Essbase starting off with ASO and not having the BSO experience and now having to work backwards from there. I think it shows how powerful ASO is becoming.
For your situation your MDX needs to be converted to Calc Script language. Tuples are represented using cross dimensional operators (->) and you need to end your statements with a semi colon (;).
    + Current Month vs Prior Month (+) Formulae : &CurMon->&CurYr - &PrMon->&PrMonYear;

  • Is there a way to see what font was used originally, after the type has been converted to outlines?

Hi all, I would really like to know if there is any way to find out what font was used originally in an Illustrator document, after the type has been converted to outlines? The reason for this is I need to update some wording in a couple of old logos I had made and I have NO idea what font I had used...for the life of me I just cannot remember. Because this was so urgent for one of my projects I had to do a search online via "WhatTheFont" to see what font it could be (which I then didn't seem to have in my library!), and repurchase it. I am 99% sure I HAVE the font - or something VERY close - but under a different name.
Normally I keep a much better record of fonts used but there have been times occasionally in the past when I have done something in a hurry and changed the type to outlines without keeping the original, or keeping detailed notes at least. The fact that I did NOT keep notes on a few projects I have done in the past has made me want to kick myself because now I need to revisit one of those again..grrr:)
Can anyone offer any advice? I appreciate your help as always:)

  • Can fonts in a PDF be converted to outlines with Acrobat Pro 9?

Acrobat Pro 9.....Sometimes I get a PDF that I will have to do some edits to.  Because I dont have some of the fonts used, I cant edit the file without losing the fonts used.  Is there a way to have Acrobat maybe resave itself with all the fonts converted to outlines so this wont be a problem along with any othe font errors I may get?

Converting fonts to outlines is frowned upon do to the loss of font hinting, loss of editability, and inherant fattening of the font.
In your seat, you have to do what has to be done.
    http://indesignsecrets.com/converting-text-to-outlines-the-right-way-updated.php
I may have read that this hack is not working in CS5 or 5.5
Place the pdf into InDesign. Create a box or small stroke on the page, in the case of non native ID elements (this pdf) the object needs to touch/overlap the pdf. Color the object, perhaps .1% black, apply transparency to it, as little as 1%. You effectivly have something unseeable, but will force the Transparency Flattener to kick in.
Create a new Transparency Flattener Setting, see my example,
Check the effect with the Flattener Panel, see my example

  • Problem with fonts converted to outlines

In CS5, when I convert a font to an outline.  The stroke and fill is lost and is no longer editable.  Obviously, in this instance, I need to edit both in the resulting outlines, but am unable to do so.  Anyone have any help to offer?

Do you still have the vector paths after creating outline?
If so then create a graphic style(to save all your strokes/fills, then convert to outlines, then apply the graphic style.
You may have these appearance attributes asssigned on the type(on some strange combination of charachter, type, group level), but after it going to outlines Illustrator gets confused and assigns none.
If you have vector paths you could reassign your file & stroke attribute, then graphic style will just back up your hard work.

  • Can I use Type -- 'convert to outline' in Illustrator on Typekit fonts I've 'designated for desktop use'? I've not been able to as of yet.

I'm trying to print vinyl letters for a gallery I'm a member of and love the Cronos Pro regular font. i've designated this for desktop use and created 24 name files at 200pt. The person working with the vinyl asked if I could 'convert to outline' possibly to make the font a bit larger, I don't really know. When I tried to do this, I found that choice grayed out on the type menu. I am wondering if this means the Typekit fonts 'designated for desktop use' simply do not have the permission to be 'converted to outline'.

Cutting always requires proper paths/ outlines. This has nothing to do with the font or large format printing per se. Beyond that there should be no limitation in using fonts - as long as you can mangle them in AI, it means that somewhere those outlines exist internal to the program so the type can actually be rendered. Whatever prevents this may more likely be inherent in how you treat your text. you would have to provide more specific info on that. Either way, ask in the AI forum for more detailed answers.

  • Convert an outlined text back to editable text

    Hai
Enything possible to convert an outlined text back to editable text in Adobe InDesign?
    Thanks
    Ashok

It might be more than one step. You need to:
Change the vectors back to live type
Style the live type with the correct font, size, leading, etc.
If you're looking for something that does all that in one step, I don't know of it. There are OCR (Optical Character Recognition) programs available. Adobe Acrobat (the full version, but I don't know about Adobe Reader) is one option. Keep in mind that there may be some work to do after the vectors have been changed to type. In the screenshot from InDesign below:
…the black text is placeholder text that I made for this example, I changed the text to outlines and exported as PDF. I then opened the PDF in Acrobat and went to Document>OCR Text Recognition>Recognize Text Using OCR. After the vectors were changed to text, I selected and copied the text, went back to InDesign, made a new text frame below, pasted the text and colored it red (for contrast). You will see that it did a pretty good job of changing the text, but it added paragraph returns at every line break. And if you look at this closeup of part of both texts close to each other:
You can see that the text isn't exactly the same. I think this is may be due to InDesign automatically selecting  kerning pairs as you type, which weren't selected in the OCR process. I'm just saying that OCR isn't foolproof.
And after you get your text, you will likely have to style it yourself. If there are programs that will do better, I imagine someone will come along and suggest some.

  • EAS is crashing when trying to open a 2GB ASO outline in edit mode

    Hi,
We have EAS 11.1.2.2. and when we tried to edit an ASO outline which is 2GB in size crashes the EAS server, Everytime we have to re-start the server to bring it back. The xmx is 2048 and xms is 512 for the EAS server.
Can anyone tell us how to solve this problem.
    Thanks,

There seems to be a bug in EAS when opening large outlines.  If you look in the tmp directory "C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\tmp" on my machine you will see that every 5-6 min a copy of the otl file with a randomly generated name gets created.  Something is timing out and EAS trys again with a newly numbered random otl file name - this goes on till you cancel.  The files get left in there forever.
The solution should be to increase a timeout setting someplace but I have not been able to find it and previous appeals here and on network54 have not yielded any results.
There is a  work-around however.  Make your outline faster to open.  If the ESSCMDQ utility does not work, try putting the otl file on an ssd drive.  If you do not have one you can try a memory mapped IO trick:  copy the outline someplace.  Then try to open the original again - it will most likely now be sitting in memory and will open up fast enough not to generate the timeout problem.
Of course delete the copy at some point.
I also make it a practice to periodically clear out the abandoned junk in the tmp directory - the op system will not allow you to delete any file still in use so just del * (boy does that sound dangerous but it works).
Now if someone has a better way I would love to know it.

  • CS5.1 Missing fonts - converted to outline

Hello, I have PC with Adobe Master Suite CS5.5 installed.
    Problem:
I had to open eps file, where is font Obelix Far East, which I don't have and needs to be replaced to Myriard.
When I open this eps, all Obelix's words are automaticaly converted to outlines.
    original:
    CS5.5 - immedatelly after opening:
Is any way to prevent convert words? I can see it first time, because before CS5.5 I used only CS4 and there was no problem with this. I simply replaced missing font for the known one and that's it...
Thank you very much for any idea.
    Regards...Ilja

like maybe I hit some odd key command that made it all go away but I've been unable to get anywhere.
Yes that is the case, you accidentally must have hit the cmd + T key and now you have set Bridge to show only thumbnails.
Under the menu view you will see a checkmark in front of the option: "show thumbnail only" . Click on it again to deselect or hit again cmd + T (on a Mac) and you get back to the normal situation

  • ASO outline 11mg 1/2 hr to open in EAS

I have an ASO outline the takes 1/2hr or more to open in EAS. I have compacted the db and checked deleted members. Nothing has helped. Does anyone have some tuning tips?

I am currenly using EAS installed on my desktop because the EAS server we have installed would give me out of memory errors immediately when I would click to open the outline. To prove it wasn't my laptop I installed the server app on my laptop and was able to open the outline, but it takes 1/2 hr or longer. EAS server is intalled on a virtual Linux (RedHat) server that was limited to 500 mg. I have sent in a request for the admins to increase the RAM available to that virtual, then we can increase the .lax file setting. The desktop I'm running EAS off of now has 1.48 gb 4 cpu. 64 gb free space.
    Thanks,

  • ASO Outline Error

I have installed Essbase and configured it with shared services successfully. I also created ASO application & its database but when I am opening ASO outline, it's giving me error - 'There is a problem loading outline into memory, error #1,250,053'.
But I am able to open outline for ASO sample application.
    Please help me on it.

What version of essbase server and AAS server/client you are using to view the outline.

  • ASO Cube with BSO Partition as a Target

    Hi,
Can someone please explain me the following because after reading different blogs as well as some other Essbase documents I am not able to understand,
What is the actual use of having a BSO Transparent partition (target) of an ASO cube (source)?
How exactly does the Write-Back functionality works if I have a BSO Transparent partition (target) of an ASO cube (source)?
And lastly, in what business scenario one would implement a BSO Transparent partition (target) of an ASO cube (source)?
    Your help is much appreciated.
    thanks,
    fikes

I have a situation where I have a BSO (target) on top of an ASO (source).  This was to try and resolve the dynamic time series (where time and periods are in different dimensions).  The DTS works almost great in the BSO partition.
The other problem (or why we wanted to go to ASO) was that BSO cubes do not handle attributes across partitions (we have quarterly data in transparent partitions) to the target cube. -- but we do have dynamic time series.
What I'm facing now it that the attributes work in the BSO (target) except when using a dynamic time series.
The attributes are defined in both the BSO and ASO cubes.
Any suggestions on how to handle attributes AND dynamic time series ?

  • Automated BSO / ASO Outline Dimension Build

    Hi,
I am trying to dynamically build an BSO cube outline using RULE file and DATA files.
    But am experiencing challenges.
Does the cube have to intial dimensions in the outline(ie PRODUCT)? Or any dimensions?
I am speciifying the PRODUCT dimension only in the DATA file, and in the RULE file specifying it as a PARENT, and the second row as CHILD.
    But it errors.
Can this same methodology be used to build ASO cube outlines as well?
Can anyone assists in overcoming this frustrating hiccup.
    Thanks
    Reg

The easiest way to do this is to have the dimension at least specified in advance, but if you can't do that, then you can define the dimension in the load rule. Select Dimension build settings, then go to the tab Dimension Definition. In the bottom half, you can define a dimension
