Some minor issues we are facing in converting the 6i application to 10g ,

Regarding 10g froms i need support in resolving following issues:-
1. Direct print to default printer
In some of our applications user do not want to see the print preview and prefer direct print in 6i we were doing this by defining Desitination in report paramenters
2. Open each form in new window
We open each new form using OPEN_FORM() builtin, but all forms open in same MDI window, how using open form we can open the forms in new window
3. Maintaining source code in windows and linux
Initaially our developers test the forms under windows 10g AS environment but when the same form in uploaded on Linux machine they need to make some changes like " replacing all \ with /, converting all paths to lower case etc
how we can write the same code for linux and windows
These are some minor issues we are facing in converting the 6i application to 10g environment ...

1) We don't do direct printing. We print everything to PDF files in a user's network mapped drive. They print or preview as required.
2) We overcame this problem by using Java WebStart

It frees Forms from being browser based and looks more like a 'real' application.
3) We use FormsAPI Master [Link to ORCL-Toolbox|http://www.orcl-toolbox.com/] to automatically convert from Windows to Unix. Our script converts uppercase to lowercase for icons, menus, library attachments, etc. We only do this once - unless new libraries have been attached in the wrong case. For things like '\' to '/' , Windows is quite happy to accept '/' as a delimiter. "cd C:\temp" is the same as "cd c:/temp". However, there are obvious differences between Windows and Unix. If there is any interaction between the Form and the operating system, then we do all our testing in the Unix environment - leaving Windows as a "does the screen layout look OK" environment.

Export/Convert Browser Based Infopath 2010 forms to PDF/Excel/Word

Is there an OOB, way of converting browser based Infopath 2010 forms to PDF/Word/Excel.
In case there isnt, can anyone please point me to a coded or a programmatic way of implementing the same.

Hi Soptik,
As far as I know, we can only save an InfoPath form as PDF/Excel using InfoPath Windows form application(rather than Broswer-based InfoPath).
In this case, we can
Open the library that save the forms
Selec the form that is wanted to be PDF/Excel(Just select it, don't open it)
Click the "inverse trangle", and then click "Edit in Microsoft InfoPath"
In InfoPath, click "File" > "Save & Send" to save the form as PDF/Excel

Can I convert a Lookout application into a labview application?

We here are seriously thinkig to migrate to Labview. There is a complex application done with Lookout 6.0 that we want to convert to a labview application. Having the proper Labview, is there a way of compiling it, open and save, or convert the Lookout application into a Laview application?
Excuse my ignorance in this matter.

First of all I hope you first question regarding lookout is solved. If so then mark my answer as solution.
For the next time, if you have other questions, which are not related to the one you started the thread of, then open a new thread!
And no, National Instruments don't has drivers for Non-NI Products, so LabVIEW has no driver for your motion card. Anyhow National Instruments has it's own Motion Hardware and Software (ni.com/motion).
And for LabVIEW and Linux just go to ni.com/linux, and you will find supported hardware/software and the linux derivates it works on.

Convertir/convert VI LABVIEW2010 Application Directory.vi en LabView 8.6

Je dois convertir mon application (développé en LabView2010) en LabView 8.6 et je rencontre le pb suivant:
Impossible de convertir le VI Application Directory.vi de la "Bibliothèque LabView.
Je joins le VI qui se trouve sous : National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\vi.lib\Utility\file.llb
=> c'est un VI LAbView 2010 => de la palette "Constantes de fichiers" objet/VI "Répertoire de l'application".
Ce VI étant protégé par mot de passe, je ne peux donc pas le convertir en version LB 8.6.
Quelqu'un a-t-il une solution?? Et sait comment convertir ce VI.
Note: La version du FORUM "Application Directory 8.6.vi" ne fonctionne pas lorsque l'on fait un appel à partir d'un "sous-VI".

La constante Application Directory est apparue avec LabVIEW 2010 et n'existe pas sous LabVIEW 8.6. Il te faudra reprendre ton application en LabVIEW 8.6 pour tenir compte de cette fonctionnalité qui avant s'implémenté en récupérant le Application:Type et:
- si c'est du type "Run Time System" tu récupère le Application:Chemin du répertoire
- sinon tu récupère le chemin du projet et tu décompose ce chemin
Sinon tu as ce lien qui propose le VI tout fait ;-) et voici le VI en question en LV 8.6.

How do you convert a BSP application to Webdynpro application?

Before upgrading to ECc6, we had apprisal documents in BSP application. After upgrade to ecc6 the apprisal documents are in Webdynpro. In order to view the previous year's apprisal documents, what must we do to convert this bsp application to webdynpro?

it is possible to use the BSP application inside WD ABAP or viceversa .
u can do it by eventing through portal .
you need to have the content admin role to ur user id on the portal .
thn u need to create iViews for the ur web Dynpro and ur BSP application as well .
This is required for eventing between the two applications .

I am handling a project which was developed in J2EE. This projetc contains Applets, EJB's developed in Struts frame work. Now client is requesting us to get access of this application in PDA.
1)To get access in PDA, is it necessary to have my application enhanced with J2ME?
2) Is there any PDA compatible JVM is required?
3) Is there any third party tool to do so?

To convert applet-based application?

Hi
There are some tools on market to run an applet-based application on server side. Those tools convert the behavior of applet application to Jsp application. So they run the application on web server and send HTML to web browser.
One of those tools is WebCream(www.creamtec.com)
Would appreciate to let me know other tools or any other ways to achive this.

Enhancement request - ADF BC convert EO based VO to read-only VO

Can't see if we can do the following in 11g (or 10.1.3); is it possible? Otherwise would be a nice to have.
If at design time I mistakenly create an ADF BC VO as one that is based on an EO (ie. updateable VO), but it would be better suited to a read-only VO (for the documented runtime efficiencies), a tool to convert the updateable VO to a read-only VO without losing the attributes and SQL query settings would be great. Ideally a right mouse click option on the VO or via the VO document window as an option.

You should be able to copy the existing query to the clipboard, remove the entities, then paste in the query again.
Numerous new runtime features in 11g depend on having an EO-based view object, and the runtime overhead is not large, so in practice our internal best practice for our own Oracle Applications development teams will be to use entity-based VO's most of the time going forward.
It's true there is a small amount of overhead still, and view objects used for SQL-based validation purposes will still be good candidates (as well as view objects that don't want to see the pending changes in the entity cache for some application-specific reason).

it is because that System.Net.Sockets is not available in Windows Phone Runtime app, we have to use the

SOAP fault from web service - how to convert it to application error:

I have read the relevant blogs and a few forum posts, but still could not solve this problem. The WS I'm calling is passing back a response with the schema below when there is a problem:
I'm using the standard fault message type of PI for this inbound interface, but PI is unable to convert fault texts and throw an application error, instead it throws a system error that does not display the reason.
How can I get PI to understand the fault and display it correctly for monitoring & ALM?

Use the following format as I did to see the errors thrown by the receiver systems in async messages in the SOAP adapter audit log:
HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error
Content-Type: text/xml; charset="utf-8"
This is from SOAP Adapter FAQ note, have a look at it as it will help. If you are using Java on receiver side, as I had mentioned, use SOAPFaultException and your runtime will generate this HTTP Post automatically:

javax.xml.rpc.soap.SOAPFaultException
JDK 1.5
javax.xml.ws.soap.SOAPFaultException;
Hope this helps. We cannot change the behavior of the SOAP adapter in this sense, so this is the only option.

Best Mac video converter (file based) - Search is down...

I was planning on doing a search, but it's down at this time...
I'm looking for what's considered to be the best and most flexible file based video converter for the Mac. I need to convert VCD's to a format iMovie 08 can edit to output a DVD (yes, yes, I'm aware of quality between the two, this is what my friend needs...)
With the same software I'd like to do all of the fancy conversion file to file be it FLV, MOV, DAT, MPEG etc.
I've been looking at Aimersoft, iSkysoft, and Video Converter for Mac so far.
Any suggestions and personal experience would be wonderful!

There seems to be no need to rename the file extension. I just selected the file from inside the VCD folder and was recognized as a video file.
It's currently converted, but looks glitchy (not on the original). Maybe this is just a product of playing a high demand file on my MacBook?
