Have anyone with worthless g5 Imac due to leaky capacitor tried to removed the system board and convert it to flat screen tv type? That would be cool looking flat screen tv!

Why don't you get it fixed through Apple's Return Exchange programs:

They are two different programs for two different series of iMac G5s.

HP Envy 5532 Printer - unable to install a driver with full functionality

Hi we have purchased a HP Envy 5532 all-in-one and were advised (and as stated on the packaging) that it will print 2 sided automatically.
So far we have followed the instructions on various sites but we do not appear to have the option in the printer's Preferences to be able to select 2 sided printing from the drop down list on the layout screen as there is no drop down list in there to select from as illustrated in the screen grab below:
The options to the left of the screen grab allow me to select a manual 2 sided option where it will prompt us to reload the paper manually but no automatic options?
Our operating system is: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit and we have been on www.hp.com and downloaded the appropriate driverfor this environment.
The driver currently installed is: HP Envy 5530 Series Class Driver - the driver would not install off the disk which came with the printer so this was the recommended official download via the HP website
We have run the HP Print and Scan Doctor supplied on HP Connected it found issues with the driver "the Driver does not have full functions installed" and attempted to download a fully featured driver - this has failed again and again.... to load
We then downloaded and ran the "HP Installation failure unknown device" application and followed this to the letter 5 times!!! all this did was to stop the printer working at all. It ran until the install stage and then it keeps coming up unable to install on network - the printer is there on our network with an IP address???
We disabled all Firewalls and ran the install without any start up items running via misconfig options as directed but still it fails at the same point on installation.
We had to uninstall all HP drivers and let the PC "add a printer" via the Control Panel options which it has and we are able to print again but we do not have full functionality as we still can not print automatic 2 sided copies and when we run HP Print and Scan Doctor it still recognises that we do not have full functionality!!!
Any help would be appreciated

I read through your post about how you do not have access to the full software and options for your Envy 5532, as the Full Feature driver is not installing successfully on your Windows 8.1 system. I saw that you have tried various troubleshooting steps, such as a Clean Boot (msconfig), the Print and Scan Doctor, etc.
I will do my best to make some helpful suggestions to you to try out.
It seems as though you are trying to install on your network, could you possibly try installing the printer as a USB connection, and afterwards converting the USB connection to wireless through the HP software (applies to wireless connection and not ethernet)? If you're installing ethernet, skip this suggestion.
You could also try installing the printer under a Clean Boot (msconfig) and turn off your firewall, under a new user account with Admin Privileges, to see if that will work.
Another idea would be to run the System File Checker to see if this scan will pick up any issues:

Please let me know your findings thus far, and if you notice any error messages or codes, let me know all of the details.

My video files are massive, converting them to a different format doesn't reduce the size of them it just turns them into mp4 or apple pro res ect
This iMac is for work only so there's no pictures, no music, no conacts, no messenger, no games, nonothing but videos!!

I have just converted from PC to iMac. Yay. But pls be nice to me; I am back to newb! Running Lion. Have connected a Time Capsule as both a backup and WAP. I want to be able to join the network with my iPad, iPhone, iPod to print. How can I do this?

Can I do this using the Time Capsule. I am not tech, so bear with me. Can I get the iPad to connect wirelessly to the TC, which connects wirelessly to the Canon MP495? Or, can I connect/network the iPad to the iMac to print?
Either way, or if there is any other solution, I would appreciate if someone would walk me through it, or point me to a plain-speaking resource.

Actually, one more: I would like to connect my HP laptop as well. I have heard this is not simple, but possible.

You can create a wifi network with your TC, and you can join this network with your iPad. However, your printer does not support the AirPrint protocol, so you will not be able to print from your iPad, unless you load additional software.
These are the steps:
1. (You may have completed this step already) Set up your TC to create a wireless network. You can do this from AirPort Utility on your Mac or from the AirPort Utility App on your iPad (free download from the App Store).
2. From your iPad, go to settings / wifi and join the network.
3. Download the Canon iPhone App from the App store on your iPad
4. You can now print photos from your iPad to your Canon printer.
If you want full functionality, (not just photos), there is software for your Mac that makes your printer available to your iPad through AirPrint (Printopia). The downside is, you have to purchase it, and you have to have your Mac running when you want to print from your iPad.

I am a .mac user, and there are lots of others on here who aren't and they use both slideshows and hit counters.
If you are prepared to do a little post publishing processing of scripts and html, then these things are available to you.
For a slideshow, visit Cyclosaurus' site, he has done great work for non .mac users.
For a hit counter, do a search on this forum for either NeoCounter or Stat Counter, you should get a few threads back.

Does blown capacitors stop imac working or not????

Ive had a real painful couple of weeks with my imac 1.8. Two weeks ago i was deleting some files from my computer and I had my lacie hard disk attached to the computer and i deleted a hidden lacie file. As i put it in the bin my computer just FROSE and i hat to do a restart from the plug.
When I tured it back on the osx would not startup. My computer had lots of files on it so i hat to take it to get recovered, which cost a bit.
I also took it to KRCS which is a apple shop based in the uk. They sent my computer away to be checked and they said that it had blown capacitors and was told this is part of the logic board so would cost over £400 and would not be worth repairing.
The weird bit is, I collected my computer back and the hard disk which had been recovered and refitted the hard disk to the computer and loaded the osx installer disk and it now works??? there does not seem to be any problem with it.
My question is if the capacitors are blown would my computer work?????
sadly one of the people who i went to about my computer problems I think is lying, well it seems like it
but I thought I would ask your advice???
The silly thing is, if i had not got my hard disk back and put it back together the computer would have been thrown away on the advice of KRCS

Sorry to hear of your recent problems.
Yes bad capacitors can make an iMac nonfunctional but it's like that Billy Crystal character:
"There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive."
So capacitors can fail in a way that the machine will come back and act normal for a while.

When you inspect the capacitors, look for just the slightest amount of of bulging. Any that are even slightly domed will be bad. That goes for the ones in the power supply as well.
Report what you find.

Having problems connecting iMac(late 2006) running 10.7.5 to a Samsung Flat Screen TV using separate audio/speaker cable and HDMI standard cable, mini-DVI to HDMI video converter. TV displays generic Apple galaxy background and "some" windows (e.g. screen resolution choices). It does not show Mail or Safari menus. System preferences' display "gathered" the Samsung and chose its resolution. I did not find a way to select the Samsung as my display.
In addition to having old hardware, we have Verizon FIOS providing internet and TV access. Is there any way to make this work for us? We would like to stream video (Netflix) and view shows from the Web. Do we need Apple TV to do this? Or is it not possible with our old iMac? My husband thinks that our Airport could be a factor.

Lately, I have been seeing a lot of posts with users trying to use their Macs/iMacs to mirror their streaming video from their Macs to an HDTV.
There are, actually, many alternatives to choose from than just from a Mac.
You need to have or invest in a WiFi capable router for all of these examples.
Apple TV only integrates with WiFi and newer Mac hardware. So, if you want to have total integrated experience, if you have a 2011 Mac or newer, you might as well pay the $100 for the AppleTV box.
If you have a older Mac, like I have noticed many users do, then you have other options.
If you want to elimate long cable clutter and having your Mac at the mercy of your TV all of the time, you can still use the AppleTV box independently or purchase cheaper alternative media streaming boxes from Roku, Sony, Boxee or any number of electronics manufacturers that now have media streaming boxes and media streaming capability built into DVD/Blu-ray players.
These eliminate long cable clutter by being close to the HDTV where shorter, less expensive cables can be used.
Another alternative for iPad users is to use an iPad with the USB/HDMI video adapter and use your iPad as the streaming box. This ties up your iPad in much the same way as it does with your Mac, but again the iPad can be close to the TV and use minimal cables to the TV.
Another alternative to is to use a combination of an iPad and your Mac to stream content that is only available to stream online from a computer. In this case, you can use a desktop remote app on your iPad and Mac. A good and cheap Desktop Remote app is Splashtop Remote. This allows you to completely connect your iPad remotely, over Wifi, to your iMac desktop. The app streams both video and sound to the iPad which is still connected to your HDTV. The resultant stream video picture will be smaller than the size of your HDTV, but it will still be plenty large enough to watch. Again, if you own a iPad and an Intel Mac, this method also allows minimal cabling to the TV.

When I try to enlarge or perform any other function all that appears is a black field containing a grey circle with a black exclamation symbol( !)

How did you try to "restore" and what did you try to restore?
Probably the only solution is to restore your backup of the iPhoto library from before you did this

Those are the options - more space is more space.
Moving the iPhoto Library is simple:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

I have never seen this tab. Is it a custom tab? In any case, by looking at your error message, I suspect somewhere in your iView definition, the object type is mistaken. Instead of "SCH", it most likely should be "SHC", which is the default process type for shopping cart.

How to convert a PDF file into a full editable WORD file?

I tried to convert a pdf file into word but it is not fully editable. I can edit the title from the main page and that's it. The rest of the word document is saved as image. I tried editing teh pdf file but that one is not working either.

Not all PDF files are created equal. When a PDF file is created with Adobe Tools it is usually "tagged" with information about the fonts the images, the layout etc... This way when the PDF is saved to a new format like PPT or DOC then the results are usually usable. However, if you have a PDF file that was not tagged for some reason then run the Accessibility tools on the PDF to acquire some basic tagging. This may get you a better result. Also if you have a PDF that is an image, then you may want to run OCR on it.

I did down loaded LR 5 from Adobe CC where is the only location I can down load Adobe app by following instructions from Adobe online store before I bought CC full function subscription. Then I un-installed it by deleting it while I saw it was not showed in my CC desktop after I bought full function subscription and installed CC. I understood the correct way to uninstall Adobe SW is by uninstaller. However, I could not find uninstaller from folder you mentioned or anywhere else (even now, I still can not locate to /application/utilities/Adobe installer, no Adobe installer can be seen in the location you mentioned. I just can find an Installers folder in resource/application support/adobe or application/tool/adobe installers instead, but I could not find any message directly related to Lightroom in Installers but Photoshop from CS3 till Photoshop cc & of course Create Cloud installer) for uninstalling Lightroom 5 then, so I just can simply remove it by delete it. I had ever thought I may have to remove all versions of Lightroom I bought from Adobe in order to let CC to re-allocate Lightroom to CC desktop app list. I finally did not delete all versions of Lightroom for I am currently using Lightroom 4 for developing photos I took in past few weeks including in the wedding of my daughter. I can not sure if I can install Lightroom 4 back after uninstalled it. I should not take this risk so I did not delete Lightroom 2-4 after I deleted Lightroom 5.

I accidentally downloaded an .exe last week. I know .exe's aren't suppose to run/effect macs but ever since then, my windows have "fuzzed out", pieces of my wallpaper are missing, and applications are slow to respond. Sometimes when I return to my computer after it's been sleeping for a while the whole window will be void of icons with just this duotone wave pattern all over and my curser looks like a small black saw. When like this, it will not respond to hot keys or the power button. Not sure what is going on. I think it's purely coincidental that the problems started after you tried to run an .exe.
Windows-based virii (distributed through .exe files among others) cannot affect a mac directly, so it's out of the question you got a virus that way. Besides, there hasn't been a virus that affects OS X yet.
That leaves the bad capacitor problem. I think you should contact Apple or your reseller.
