Convert BeX query Global structure to local structure

Hi Experts,
How to convert a BeX query Global structure to local structure?  Can anyone give the Steps involved.
Thanks in Advance,
Namrata.

Hi Sanchana,
BeX query Global structure to local StructureSteps:
In a local structure when you want to add structure elements that are unique to the specific query. Changing the global structure changes the structure for all the queries that use the global structure. That is the reason you go for a local structure.
Coming to the navigation part->In the BEx Analyzer-> from the SAP Business Explorer toolbar---> choose the open query icon (icon that looks like a folder) ->On the SAP BEx Open dialog box->Choose Queries--->Select the desired InfoCube --->Choose New.
In the Define the query screen->In the left frame-> expand the Structure node.
Drag and drop the desired structure into either the Rows or Columns frame->Select the global structure->Right-click and choose Remove reference.A local structure is created.
Remember that you cannot revert back the changes made to global structure in this regard. You will have to delete the local structure and then drag n drop global structure into query definition. When you try to save a global structure, a dialogue box prompts you to confirm changes to all queries.
Hope this info helps..
Cheers,
Tanish

  • Olap Universe Based on BEx Query - Cascading Prompt

I need to get two prompts: 1) Division 2) Group. Division has to be selected first and then Group. I understand I have to create cascading prompt. In the universe, in default hierarchy, group stands before before division. I have created a custon hierarchy like: Division, Group. I used Tools -> List of Values ->Create cascading list of values and then selected the right dimensions and then clicked on Generate LOVs. Then I have exported it to the repository. But I cannot see any reflection at the report level. So, some questions came in my mind:
    1) Where can I check in the universe whether my cascading prompt has been created or not ?
    2) I am using L01 Dimension. But underneath, there are two dimensions called LovDivision and LoVDivisionBase which are in Italic. I believe integration kit creates this. It is the same as Group. So, my question is: Am I selecting the right dimesnsions ? Or, should I select those in Italic.
    3) Actually, these two prompts (variables) [along with others] are already created in BEx which I can see in my report. My plan is, if my cascading prompts work, I will tell the BW developer to remove those two. Do you think that these existing prompts are creating any problem.
I would really appreciate your response.

    Hi
    1) Where can I check in the universe whether my cascading prompt has been created or not ?
Have you entered the cascading object in the  webi query condition. At the run time  it will generate  hierarchy in the tree structure.
    2) I am using L01 Dimension. But underneath, there are two dimensions called LovDivision and LoVDivisionBase which are in Italic. I believe integration kit creates this. It is the same as Group. So, my question is: Am I selecting the right dimensions ? Or, should I select those in Italic.
correct you are using right objects L01.By mdx driver it will create by default L00 and L01 objects.neglect the Lo00 objects. You can  hide them in the universe or go to refresh structure and their is option to replace L00 definition with some other definition.
    3) Actually, these two prompts (variables) along with others are already created in BEx which I can see in my report. My plan is, if my cascading prompts work, I will tell the BW developer to remove those two. Do you think that these existing prompts are creating any problem.
By default  when you are creating universe based on the mdx drivers it will convert Bex query filters in the universe condition as mandatory filter  and applied on the full universe.
You can go to the universe condition and open the condition and unchecked the option  from their and after that these will not prompt in the webi query.
    Thanks,

  • Automatic generate specification of Bex query

    Dear Experts

in the metadata repository, I can not get such detailed information.
    thanks in advance

    hi Jie,
try to activate trace (ST05) before change the query structure, filter etc, and deactivate after that, and 'display trace' and explore the query tables got from trace list like
RSZELTXREF (field LAYTP = FIX is for filter)
RSZELTDIR (field DEFTP = STR for structure)
    RSZSELECT RSZRANGE RSZCALC
    RSZCEL RSZELTPRIO RSZELTTXT
    RSZELTATTR RSZCOMPDIR

  • To bold the descriptions for the structure members in the BEX Query

    HI Experts,
Could any one please advise on how to BOLD the descriptions of the structure members in the BEX query.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeswanth

Are you looking at making the same BOLD in the web display ..?
    To do this :
Execute your query - go to display source for the page and you will see the structure members identified with a particular CSS class.
Open the CSS file from the MIME repository and then identify the class that is used for the structure elements and then change th CSS to make it bold and then upload the changed CSS into MIME .
Refresh the HTTP global cache from SMICM and then run your report again - you should be able to see the structure elements in BOLD.

  • Bex query structure authorization error when copying to Y name

    Hi Gurus,
We are having a issue in BEX query. As per design, our IT team can copy Z queries to Y queries and modify/create Y queries in production but they cannot update/change Z queries.
One of the Z query is having structure and BW IT team is trying to copy that query to Y namespace but they can't edit the structure/key figures within that new Y query. . We created a ‘Y Structure’ within a ‘Y Query’ but still cannot edit/modify that Y-Structure. S_RS_COMP and S_RS_COMP1 has full access restricted by Y* in reporting component field.
Can anyone please help how should we proceed ?
PS: We don't have problem with other queries which don't have structures.
    Regards,
    Salman

    HI Salman,
Looks like the structure is globally defined and thats the reason why the team is not able to edit it
    Thanks

  • LOCAL Structure to be copied from one query to another query

    Hello all,
In our query we have created a structure locally....
we have to copy the same locally created structure from one query to another query which is on the same multiprovider.
We do not want to make the structure global.
Can anyone suggest some method to achieve this!

For copiying structures fom query to another you have to do it global. After that you can do click on right button on the structure when added to your query and choose "eliminate reference" this does further changes in the structure were local for that query.

  • Using 2 BEx query structures - Not displaying as a hierarchy

    Gurus,
I have CR2008, and I am using a BEx 7.0 query that has 2 structures.  One structure is key figures, the other is a layout that I turn on and display as a hierarchy.  There is cell definition behind the query.
How can I get this second structure to view as a hierarchy in Crystal?  The cell definition is calculating correctly in Crystal, however all of the Profit Centers show on the same line, without indentation.
If I create a Profit Center hierarchy in BW and bring it into Crystal, then I cannot use the cell definition, which is needed to calculate the correct results.
    Thanks in advance for responses.
    Scott Friery

Help please!!  I really need some guidance for this problem?  Can I manually modify how the structure looks once I bring it into Crystal and drop into the "Details" section of the designer?
The structure from the BEx query looks like this in Crystal:
    Global Sales
    Western Region Sales
    Location 1
    Location 2
    Location 3
    Eastern Region Sales
    Location 4
    Location 5
    Location 6
I want the structure to look like this (and it does in the BEx 7.0 query designer)
    (No Indent) Global Sales
(Indent 1 Space )Western Region Sales
              (Indent 2 spaces)  Location 1
              (Indent 2 Spaces) Location 2
              (Indent 2 Spaces) Location 3
(Indent 1 Space) Eastern Region Sales
                (Indent 2 spaces) Location 4
                (Indent 2 spaces) Location 5
                (Indent 2 spaces) Location 6
    Any help is appreciated.

  • Problem with Queries Structures in Bex Query Designer and Universe Designer

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem when i try to do a Universe from a Bex Query Designer.
When I use a Characteristic Restrictions in a Structure, the universe only show me the structure without the objects inside it.
    EJ:
    1) Bex Query Designer
    Colunms
    (Structure) ZSRT_123
                          - (Characteristic Restrictions) Reg Guayana
    >          (InfoObject)     0Product = 'XXX'
    >          (InfoObject)     0Country = 'YYY'
         - (Characteristic Restrictions) Reg Caracas
    >          (InfoObject)     0Product = 'AAA'
    >          (InfoObject)     0Country = 'BBB'
    Rows
    (Structure) ZSRT_456
                   (Key Figure)     Net Sales
    2) Universe designer
    (Class) ZSRT_456
    >(Measure)      Net Sale
    (Class)     ZSRT_123
    >(Dimension)      ZSRT_123
The universe dont translate the two Characteristic Restrictions in the structure ZSRT_123.
Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi,
I assume that you are using BOE XI 3.1 SP2.
We have added an option in SP2 to generate or not the L00 level.
Unfortunately this option applies not only on characteristics but also on hierarchies, hierarchies variables and structures: that's the reason why you have no elements belonging to the structure generated.
I recommend to always generate L00 in order to have your structure generated correctly.
This issue will be fixed in SP3.

    Didier

  • Structure copy in BEx query Designer?

I created structure in BEx Query Designer in BI PRD which is our BI production system.
I'd like to copy structure to BI DEV which is our BI development system.
    Is is possible?
If you have any solution, tell me about that.
    Thanks.

    Hi
If you want the object which is there in PRD to DEV system means, the only way is to do transportation. but to do reverse transportation, you should have STMS connection from your PRD to DEV system.
The better way is to create the structure again in DEV system.
If you want to go with reverse transportation, consult your basis person.

  • GetSelectedMember does not work on BEx Query Structure

    Hi
Has anyone seen the following behaviour:
    I have a BEx query
I created a design studio application that accesses the BEx query
The application displays a column chart. When you select a column, it 'jumps' to another tab that displays the detail in a table.
I used the following std. script
    DS_DET.setFilter( "ZBCFLG005", CHART_1.getSelectedMember( 'ZBCFLG005' ) );
    TABSTRIP_1.setSelectedTabIndex(1);
My issue is: when my Bex query uses a structure as a source for the chart, then getSelectedMember does not seem to provide the selected structure value (member) i.e. a simple structure filtered by characteristic ZBCFLG005.
However, when I change my BEx query by removing the structure and simply reporting the characteristic ZBCFLG005 in the rows, then getSelectedMember works i.e. provides the selected structure value (member).
How do I get Design Studio to read the member value from the BEx structure or is this a potential bug?
    Thx

    Hi Stephen,
I do not think this is a bug, I have used characteristic structures quite extensively without having an issue.
Are you using setfilter against a characteristic or against a characteristic structure?
In your example, you are using a characteristic in both, to filter from, and to filter to:
    DS_DET.setFilter( "ZBCFLG005", CHART_1.getSelectedMember( 'ZBCFLG005' ) );
But if you use a characteristic structure, you should also use it also in bith from and to, e.g.:
    DS_DET.setFilter( "00O2TG4C8BB5D9L8PYOLHP7N8", CHART_1.getSelectedMember( '00O2TG4C8BB5D9L8PYOLHP7N8' ) );
    Best regards,

  • Report on BEx query with 2 structures (one in rows and one in columns)

Hi, experts! I have to make Crystall report on BEx query with 2 structures, one in columns (with KF's), and one in rows. Is it possible to create such report? Because when I create such report, I cant see fields in structures, only characteristics fields.
Ok, I found samr problem in another thread. Sorry.

    Hey Flora,
Happy to hear that its working now.
Answering your question, again its upto the connection and report format you are using. Based on your question i hope you your report output should be like this.
You cannot map to two labels for the series, again this report format is possible only in cross tab through Webi. I would suggest you to concatenate the material and month in a dimension in webi like below.
I have done the concatenation in excel level, i would suggest you to do that in webi. Try to reduce the formula as much in excel.
    or
If you are using Query browser connection, then i would suggest you to create a separate report which will display the actual vs plan material wise, here you need to pass the material as a prompt.
Hope this helps in clear, please revert me for any clarification.

  • Issues with Bex query structures and Crystal Reports/Webi

    Hi experts,
I'm having an issue with Bex Query structures and nulls. I've built a Crystal Report against a Bex query that uses a Bex Query structure. The structure looks like the following
    Budget $
    Budget %
    Actual $
    Actual %
    Budget YTD
    etc
if I drag the structure into the Crystal Report detail section with a key figure it displays like this
    Budget $     <null>
    Budget %     <null>
    Actual $     300
    Actual %     85
    Budget YTD     250
the null values are displayed (and this is what is required). However if I filter using a Record selection or group on a profit centre then the nulls along with the associated structure component are not displayed.
    Actual $     300
    Actual %     85
    Budget YTD     250
Webi is also behaving similarly. Can anyone explain why the above is happening and suggest a solution either on the Bex side of things or on the Crystal Reports side of things? I'm confused as to why nulls are displayed in the first example and not the second.
    Business Objects Edge 3.1 SP2
    SAP Int Kit SP2
    OS: Linux
    BW 701 Level 6
    Crystal Reports 2008 V1
    Thanks
    Keith

    Hi,
Crystal Reports and Web Intelligence will only show data which is in the cube. You could have an actual 0 or Null entry whithout grouping but by changing the selection / grouping in the report the data does not include such entry anymore.

  • Hide the row structure in Bex query

    Hi Experts,
i have a query regarding display of report in Bex Analyzer.  I have two structures in report one in Row & other in Column. In row  have only one field against which there are two columns having figures
    my query is as follows:
Is this possible that if I hide the filed in Row ie, if i hide the only field from row then the column fields will always displayed or they also get hide.
is there any possible way to do so, ie if i want to display the column fields / structure only, even after hiding the row field
    thanks in advance
    neha

    Hi,
In your scenario, hiding the row will cause the columns to also disappear in the output. Can you explain why you want to hide the row?

  • Error MDDataSetBW.GetCellData on Qaaws if BEx Query contains a structure

    Hi everybody!
I'm getting an error every time I executy a query on a universe based on a BEx query which contains a structure. This query works good if it carries data, but when no data is returned I get the following error:
    Error in MDDataSetBW.GetCellData.
By the way testing the MDX in MDXTEST it display no errors, only the empty dataset.
After doing a few tests I can assume this issue is related to the use of a structure in the query.
Have you got any solutions/suggestions please?
    Thanks

    Ciao Roberto,
thank you very much. Actually I wasn't using the "xml document" mode in MDXTEST, and switching to that analysis I've got this message: "Object MEASURE 0 not found". But the MDX is like this:
    SELECT  { [D9S9GS5IZK94F9FA2E29EF6DU].[D9S9GS5IZK9W3VR1DXHVGUKNM] }  ON COLUMNS , NON EMPTY CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN(  { [0CALYEAR].[2010], [0CALYEAR].[2011] } , [D9S8VDQFWXBZTTTIT5KETFV2Q].MEMBERS ), [0VTYPE].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS ), [0PLANT].[LEVEL00].MEMBERS ) DIMENSION PROPERTIES MEMBER_CAPTION, [0VTYPE].[20VTYPE] ON ROWS FROM [ZCEMPBC/ZCEM_GENERAL_YTD] SAP VARIABLES [!V000001] INCLUDING [ZBUSINESS].[GCEM] [!V000002] INCLUDING [0COUNTRY].[DK] [ZCUR_SEL] INCLUDING 1
So, I don't understand that message. What "MEASURE 0" stands for?
    Thanks.
